Melancholy was just like any other wild Growlithe. She was nicknamed ML for short. Melancholy had many friends, but her best friend by far, was a Houndour named Parish. They rarely saw each other, mostly for the fact that Parish was a captured pokemon. Melancholy had been attempted to have been caught six times, none of which by Roker, Parish’s trainer. Melancholy would only allow herself to be caught by Roker, just to be with Parish. Living in the wild was not as easy at it may or may not seem. You have to fend for yourself, you cannot share, you usually end up fighting for your food. It was pretty easy to be seen, ML living in a field. You always had to watch your back. ML lived in route 36, off the east coast of the National Park. She spent most of her time in her ‘home’. It was a small plain about 9 by 8 feet. It was circular, surrounded by a shroud of bushes. It was a day like any other, a boring, hungry day where nothing seemed to happen. It was early morning, the sun had just barely peeked over the horizon. It was still shady at ML’s little circle which she called The Keep. She hadn’t seen Parish for at least 4 months, and she was beginning to get lonely. After eventually getting bored, ML decided to go and get something to eat. She was strolling along an empty field, when she noticed some scraps that a human had left from earlier. She wasn’t sure how old it was, but being a scavenger, she decided to go ahead and take the small bit of chicken leg that was left. ML was just going over to it, when she suddenly witnessed a Sentret come and take it before she could. It had already started running. Snarling and angry, Melancholy chased after the thief. Both were fast, if a trainer had walked by and seen them running, the trainer would have thought it was his or her imagination. The Sentret eventually bumped into a tree, releasing the meat from it’s paws. Taking what was rightfully hers, ML headed back toward The Keep. While heading back, however, she stumbled into nothingness. Next thing she knew, she was in a dark place, just a black void of empty space. Then, it faded and became an endless array of snowy dunes. It was bitter cold, but being a fire type, ML could withstand it. There was snow falling, and wind was picking up. She thought she’d better find shelter…somewhere. She still had the chicken in her mouth, but she wasn’t sure it was real. She thought she was dreaming. "How else could something like this happen?" ML thought to herself. After traveling about half a mile westward, she found a small cave. The storm was getting bad. She figured she may as well go in the damp, dark, small cavern. Once she got in, she managed to light a small fire out of who knows what, but it was there. But, to her surprise, the cave was not empty. There was a sword, made of some type of deep blue crystal lying on the ground. There were also small bits of food, some sort of food… She thought it was food… Anyway, there was also a small gathering of burnt wood, obviously used for a fire. There was also armor, lying around in different areas. The armor was in pieces, not in full suit. ML was befuddled at the thought that anyone could live in these harsh conditions, but as long as she was warm and full, she would be fine. Something had been there, although she wasn’t sure what. After resting while the storm brewed, as she woke, she could no longer hear the sounds of blustering winds or couldn’t feel the wind. She peered outside the entrance, and it was a clear, bright, and to all her knowledge, the warmest day she could imagine in a place like this. Not sure where she was heading, ML continued her quest into the vast dunes of snow. She assumed she was in search of some sort of life that could help her in any way possible. She had so many questions about where this place was, how to get back home, what planet she’s on, and so on. She kept heading in what direction, she’s not sure, but finds a devastated, empty, abandoned town. There was nothing at all there except for piles upon piles of rubble. Although empty and destroyed, she hoped that there would be some sort of hint as to where she was. She figured that even an abandoned town was better than a cave anyway. She decided to stay for the night. She awoke, to her surprise, to voices. She got up and wandered where the voices were from. She sees some things that look like soldiers passing through. Not human soldiers, but not pokemon. They look vaguely like pokemon, but nothing she has seen before. It’s pretty obvious to her that she was seen, but they paid no attention. They walked out of the city as fast as they had come. Melancholy had hoped to ask where she was, but she wasn’t sure whether or not they’d be able to understand her. She noticed that some carried the same type of sword that she had seen in the cave a while back. She still thought that this was some sort of awkward dream. A really freaky, messed up, almost sickening dream. And by the looks of the soldiers, she felt that she had every reason to fear for her life… (( Please review at RaikouTheGreat@aol.com ))
