Kaida's Story Disclaimer: I own Kaida, but I do not own pokemon. I've become so attached to the charcter I created, named Kaida, that I decided to write her story out. So yeah, Kaida sort of looks like the Battle Frontier brain, Lucy. This is her story from begining to end. ooo Kaida stretched as she walked out of her home. She knew that she shouldn't have been sneaking off this early, but she needed time to herself to think about the recent change of events that was shaping her life. She pushed a lock of her long, jet black hair behind her ear and breathed in the fresh mountain air of Sinnoh as she walked into the forest area near her hometown. Her pale skin seemed to strugle to not appear ghostly pale compared to her black hair. She sat on a rock near the edge of a small pond that was not quite big enough to contain any life in it. Kaida sighed and felt tears coming to her eyes. She had never cared for her father much and this dislike was steadily increasing as of last night. Her mother had finally gotten word that she was going to be accepted to be a Battle Frontier Brain. Her mother, Lucy, had been so excited so Kaida knew it would be selfish to beg her to stay. In a few short days, she would be leaving for Kanto. Kaida had never been outside her small town and she had begged to go with her mother, but her mother had refused, saying that she needed to become familiar with the pokemon of Sinnoh. Kaida could've cared less about Sinnoh pokemon. She was ten and she had yet to find her first pokemon partner, since she wasn't lucky enough to live in one of the towns that gave away one of the starter pokemon. Kaida sighed and picked up a pokeball. She decided that today would be the day that she would catch her first pokemon. Raising a pokemon would definately make the days with her father more bearable. Her father had never abused her or her mother, persay, but she didn't trust him. He had the air about him that he could turn at any second. Her mother would return to vist as ofton as she could, but Kanto and Sinnoh were so far apart, she knew those days to be far a few between. Kaida was wearing a simple pink dress that she had thrown on since the decision to leave her house had been a quick one. She was now realizing that that had been a mistake as low branches continued to snag at it. She knew she'd probably get grounded for the ruined dress and leaving the house, but she didn't care. Most kids left their homes on journeys at this age. As Kaida walked, the forest atmosphere turned humid and soon she was sweating; the dress clinging to her body as she continued on. She hadn't realized that finding pokemon could be so hard. She sighed and layed down on a patch of soft grass. For her town being so close to the mountains, she hadn't figured that the forests around it would be so hot. Kaida felt herself start to drift into sleep and she tried to stay awake, but she was slowly losing the fight since she had woken up earlier than usual. she lost the fight and was soon in a deep sleep. She awoke not long after dozing off by a large green face staring into hers. A Masukippa (the green venus flytrap pokemon, go to www.serebii.net to see what it looks like) was observing her curiously. Kaida screamed and jumped up to her feet, holding her fists up in front of her and prepared to strike if necesary. The Masukippa held up it's leafy hands placatingly and Kaida lowered her fists. Masukippa smiled up at her and Kaida snorted. The pokemon looked so ridiculous that she couldn't help but laugh. Masukippa nodded it's head approvingly and watched her carefully. Kaida looked inquiringly at the pokemon. "You know, I've never seen a pokemon quite like you. You're unique and you look like you could be quite powerful. I think You'd make a great first pokemon for me. What do you say?" Kaida asked. Masukippa looked at her, considering his choices, and finally nodded with a big grin. "Alright then, before I catch you, I should name you. I've always liked the name Goliath, and you have the markings of a boy Masukippa, I assume." Masukippa nodded and smiled in content. "Goliath it is." Kaida held out the pokeball and Goliath entered it. Kaida smiled felling that she had made the right first pokemon choice. ooo Lucy ran up to Kaida when she emerged from the forest. "Kaida! How could you just go off like that? Your father and I were worried sick." Lucy had a look of fear and anger on her face. "That's a lie. My father wouldn't worry. Maybe if I'd been missing for more then a year," Kaida thought to herself, keeping a traight face that showed no emotion as she looked up at her mother. "I wanted to catch my first pokemon today. You're not going to be around much if at all anymore. I wanted something to take my mind off your absence." Kaida always spoke matter of factly with little emotion for as long as she had been talking. Whether this was because of her mother's frequent absences from her while growing up, or her father's rare ability to be abgry all the time, yet somehow manage to cover it up is a mystery. Kaida always adored her mother even though she was usually let down, but she had learned so much from Her that she pushed aside the memories of neglect. It was neither parent's fault, really, but Kaida was suffering the effects of their worst personality traits. "Honey, you should've told us. Well, I suppose there's no use crying over spilt milk. So honey, what pokemon did you catch?" Lucy asked, squatting down so she was nearer to Kaida's eye level. Kaida was rather short for her age. Kaida smiled and released Goliath. "I found him in a humid part of the forest." Lucy examined Masukippa, who was currently examining the soil he was standing on. "This is great! You must have wondered far enough into the forest that you caught one of the tiny tropical rainforest simulation areas. They mimic the humidity of a true rainforest because of underground hotspots, which make hotsprings in mountains. Sinnoh is such a cold region that we don't really have much in the ways of true rainforests," Lucy drabbled to herself. Kaida wasn't really paying attention, though. "Why's he looking at the dirt like that?" Kaida asked, stopping her mom's lecture on climate. "I'm not sure, but it seems that he's looking for a place to plant his roots." Lucy walked over to Goliath. Goliath was poking at the ground with it's root feet. "Kaida, tell your pokemon to use ingrain." "Okay," Kaida nodded and looked at Goliath. "Goliath, use ingrain!" Goliath growled happily and shoved it's roots into the gorund, and then out of the gorund, and then in the ground once more. Goliath was creating a web of roots that surrounded a great circumferance of their yard. "That's extrodinary! I've never seen an ingrain quite like that. Oh, I have an idea Kaida dear." Lucy handed her daughter a compact disc. "This is called a TM. If you put it to Goliath's head, the electric waves of this disc should mesh with his brain waves and teach him giga drain. If you combine that and his strange ingrain techniques, then..." "...you get a serious butt kicking!" Kaida leaned over, careful not to step on any roots (Goliath hadn't intertwined any roots around her feet), and placed the disc on his head. Goliath absored the energy from the disc and when he was done, it slid into his roots. "Now, to test it, Shuckle, I choose you!" Lucy's usual pokeball throwing technique (bringing her arms downto her sides, but holding them away from her body slightly, then crossing her arms near her chest, then releasing the pokeball in her right hand which she brings straight out beside her and putting her left arm back in the position it had first been in) was closely observed by her daughter, which she would use as her signiture pokeball releasing technique as well from that point forward. Shuckle appeared in the cluster of roots. "Shuckle, use harden and withdraw into your shell. We're going to test one of my daughter's new techniques." Shuckle nodded and withdrew into his shell. "Okay, Goliath, use giga drain!" Kaida commanded. Goliath concentrated as the knowledge of how to use the attack formed in his brain. He opened his eyes and used his roots to absorb energy. It worked just the way Lucy had hoped. The network of vines were all glowing red as they attempted to asorb energy. Shuckle was hit, though it barely put a dent in his HP. The attack ended and Goliath withdrew his roots back into his body. "That's a great strategy that can keep foes all over the feild in suspense and aguish. Use that strategy well and you could make it through the pokemon league." Lucy smiled down at Kaida. At that moment, it didn't matter to Kaida that her mother was going away or that she would probably not see her mother for quite some time. All that mattered was that her mother had used her only gigadrain TM on her and gave Kaida her own startegy. Kaida gazed admiringly up at her favorite person in all the world and her idol. "I'll be back before christmas, you'll see." Lucy kissed her daughter and brought her inside the house. Not long after, her mother was gone. Kaida watched her as she left from inside the house. Kaida hurried to the calender after her mother had left and counted the days until Christmas: 89. It would be almost 89 days until she would see her mother again...or so she thought. ooooo Not a bad begining to this series. Each part will cover a seperate part in Kaida's life, but they will be in chronological order. I love Kaida! Please R&R because it keeps me soul warm. 'til next time, this is the Lonepichu signing out
