Kaida's Story Disclaimer: Me no own pokemon or Lucy. I do own Kaida and her father, though. Then again, I don't really want her father. The second of Kaida's stroies could be considered a christmas tale, but most christmas tales are happy, and this one isn't. Well, read to find out why and don't forget to comment. AN: Massukippa's english name was revealed to be Carnivine. I will refer to him as either Goliath or Carnivine form now on. ooo 88 days had passed. 88 days. Kaida's mother, Lucy, had promised to be back before day 89. Kaida looked up at the clock. It was 11:34, but Kaida wasn't worried. She knew her mother wouldn't let her down. She knew her mother would be back in 26 minutes. She knew it. She felt a presence beside her and looked up. It was her father. "She's coming Father, I know she is. Just you wait and see." Kaida tried to keep her voice steady as she gazed into his grey eyes. He could have done with a good shave and his hair was growing slightly more grey, but he was in no danger of becoming old anytime soon. Her father just laughed, which angered Kaida. She could feel tears coming to her eyes, but she wouldn't let them spill over because she knew her mom would be back. She turned back to the window and saw that it had started to snow again. "The snow must be keeping her back." her father told her. Kaida looked up and saw the sincere look in her father's eyes for the first time in her life. Kaida let her tears fall and hugged his leg. Her father looked surprised at the affection and patted her head akwardly. For some reason his comment had momentarily connected them. The moment passing, Kaida stood up. "I'm going to bed," she said curtly moving briskly from the window and headed towards the stairs. "Wait!" her father grabbed her arm. She looked up at him questionably. "Do you want me to wake you if she shows up?" Kaida smiled for a second at the comment, then noticed something wrong with it and frowned. "If she shows up? She's going to show up tonight." Kaida turned back around, hair swaying with her movements, and stomped up the stairs. She laid in bed pretending to sleep as she tried to listen for any sound that might mean the approach of her mother. She didn't even care to listen for Santa or his Stantler like most children were at this hour. She tried to stay awake as time dragged on, but the sounds of silence eventually lulled her into a disturbed sleep full of nightmares. ooo Kaida awoke to Goliath pulling at her purple night gown. Kaida smiled at the sight of her beloved pokemon and pulled the covers away from her. She slid her legs around and sat up, putting her Wigglytuff slippers on her feet. She made sure that her hair was tangle free before she headed downstairs. She held her breath the whole way into the living room and even said a silent prayer to herself. She and Goliath entered the living room, which was completely devoid of life other than the two of them. The tree had packages piled under it, mostly for Kaida. Some of them were for Goliath and even fewer for her father. There was another small present for Lucy. Kaida had saved her money up to buy her a TM she knew her mother would love. It contained Toxic; a move her mother had been wanting to teach Shuckle for months. Kaida couldn't wait to see the look on her mother's face when she opened it. Her father had also bought a few lavish gifts for his wife. Her father adored Lucy probably as much as Kaida did. She was the glue that held their family together since both father and child needed her so much. Without her, their family was slowly disentigrating. Kaida knocked on the door that led from the living room. She heard blankets shift and feet moving across the floorboards and decided to wait for the inhabitants to come out on their own. "Merry Christmas," she told Goliath, who rustled his leaves as to say the same back. She walked to the sliding back door that led onto the back porch and stepped outside. It was snowing lightly and everything was coated with a deep layer of snow. Snow wasn't common in Sinnoh region. Sometimes Kaida wished it wouldn't snow as ofton so it wouldn't be so cold outside, but she didn't hate the snow. Kaida then preceded with her usual christmas routine of searching the premesis for Stantler prints. Living in the cold region of Sinnoh her entire life, Kaida could take colder tempertures than the average person. Finding a print in the cornor of the yard near the fence that surrounded it, she smiled smugly to herself and went back inside. Goliath had stayed inside since cold tempertures didn't sit to well with him. Her father walked out in his boxers and an old christmas shirt that was faded so badly that the print was no longer ecognizable. "Morning," Kaida said flatly. "Is Mom still asleep?" Kaida asked. Her father looked up at her with a sad expression on his face and she knew the answer. Her mother had never come home. Kaida felt tears coming to her eyes and she turned away, burrying herself in Goliath's arms. "Well, there's still today that she could come back." her father sounded almost as hopeful as Kaida, though he and she both knew that it was a lie. It comforted them, however, and Kaida proceded to open her presents. ooo 4 months later ooo Kaida grinned to herself as she watched her foe, a boy named Taylor, struggle to get through Kaida's ingrain strategy. She had just turned eleven at the very begining of April and her skills were developing with her age. Taylor's Tailow, even though it was a flying type, didn't stand a chance. He hadn't taught it any attacks that didn't make direct contact with the foe and as a result, Kaida had the battle in the bag. "Tailow, umm, peck again?" Taylor was losing confidence in himself and as a result, Tailow was losing confidence. Tailow came in close for another peck attack and Goliath simply slapped at it with his leaf arms. Tailow fell amidst the roots and with another gigadrain, though not as effective to flying types, Tailow was down for the count. "I can't believe I lost. I thought for sure that I had a clear shot at winning with that type advantige," Taylor sighed. "Type isn't everything. Strategy also plays a part, as well as attacks and other such things." Kaida walked over to Taylor, who had recalle dhis Tailow back into his pokeball. "My mom taught me that it's best to not only have physical attacks, but special attacks as well. Sometimes it pays to not make contact with your opponent. You could have defeated me if you were able to use an attack like Aerial Ace." "Well, I just caught him, so I haven't had time yet." Taylor scuffed the ground with his foot. Kaida shrugged and walked away. Taylor was calling after her, but she ignored him. Goliath followed her as the two walked into Kaida's yard from the dirt path that led to her house. There were hardly any buidings in this small town save for a pokemon center, a pokemon mart, an abandoned construction of a gym, and a small coffee shop that also served alcohal. Kaida slammed the small gate behind her and walked into her house, running up the stairs to her room. "Lame excuses. So what if he just caught his pokemon? It's not the pokemon's fault. I can't stand people like that." Kaida flung herself on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. Her walls were a shade of puke yellow that she left up because it had been her mother's favorite color. She hated the color yellow. Her room had a bed, a dressor, and a desk in it. Kaida was a minimalist and didn't like to have too much material stuff. There was a Treecko plushie on her bed, a Psyduck rug on her floor, a lamp on the dressor that was shaped like a Chinchou and a small figurine of a Masukippa that her father had given her for her birthday. Other then that, her room was bare. After a few minutes, Kaida heard a plinking sound at her window. She walked over to it and noticed that rocks were being thrown at her window. She opened it and looked down, noticing Taylor underneath it. "What do you want?" Kaida asked, glaring down at him. "I want you to help me with a strategy plan, or at least come down and play." Taylor looked up at her. Kaida sighed and shouted down, "Fine. I'll be down in a second, just don't throw any more rocks." Kaida slammed the window and returned Goliath to his pokeball. She then took the steps two by two as she ran to her back yard. "What do you want to play?" she asked as she reached Taylor. "How about "teach me ariel ace" because I love that game." Taylor laughed nervously. Kaida raised an eyebrow at him. "I came downstairs for this? I suppose I can help you." Kaida shrugged and called Goliath back out. "I think my mom has a book on flying pokemon. Stay right here and I'll be right back." Kaida ran up the stairs of the deck that attached to the back of her house and into the living room. Her father was asleep in front of the TV. Kaida sighed as she made no effort to be quiet as she searched the book shelf for the flying pokemon book. She quickly found it and ran back outside. Her father was always watching TV ever since her mother left. Kaida opened the book and a disc fell out. She picked it up and discovered that the disc was actually a TM that contained Aerial Ace. She looked at the cover and read that the TM came free with the book. "Well, that was easy," Kaida remarked, picking the TM up and handing it to Taylor. "You're giving this to me?" Taylor looked astonished. "Yeah. I have no use for it and I doubt my mom does since she doesn't have any flying pokemon. I also perfer to teach my pokemon their own attacks, so take it." Kaida watched as Taylor put the disc to Tailow's forehead. Tailow glowed for a second as he learned the attack, then the disc fell uselessly to the ground. Taylor was overjoyed and thanked Kaida continuously. Kaida smiled slightly as she and Taylor walked to the pokemon center to get their pokemon healed. "Let's have one more battle. This time I won't make any lame excuses," Taylor looked pleadingly at Kaida, who shrugged. "Alright, but you're going to lose again," Kaida gave him a sly smile and he grinned. They stood facing each other, but far apart as they called out Tailow and Goliath again. Kaida could remember laughing during the battle and winning. She began to associate the two with each other; happiness and winning. Although Taylor was soon forgotten and he was replaced by many other trainers she had met, her and her Carnivine, Goliath, continued to win battle after battle. Every once in awhile, Kaida would lose and she would push herself even harder. ooo End Part 2 AN: Yeah, it was a long time coming, but part two is done. It just gives a little more background information on Kaida. Next part is where story comes in. R&R please! Till next time, this is the Lonepichu signing out.
