Symphony of the Adventures to the New Found Land ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I don't own Windwaker, Legend of Zelda, or anything but the basic idea of this fic. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Link was tired of sailing the oceans in search for the land that would belong to the civilians of the great sea. Link was tired of feeling the wind in his hair and he was tired of feeling the sunshine on his back. He was also tired of the seagulls that sometimes followed him. They were his only companions, fleeting as they were on the great seas. Their calls sometimes the only live voice he heard all day. Ever since King Hyrule left the boat that he had temporarily possesed to stay under the waters with his ancient Hyrule, Link had been lonely. On his travels to save the world many years ago, the boat nagged him constantly about where to go next and not to dilly-dally. The King of Red Lions was his boat's appropriate title. It was ironic that the nagging boat that Link ofton hid from to get some rest was now the one he missed. King Hyrule was died now, and Link missed his company terribly. Link's thoughts then, as they ofton did, strayed to Tetra, Zelda's heir. She was searching for the same land that he was. It was because of her that Link's nights were more bearable. Somehow, knowing that someone shared the same destiny as he made him feel at ease. Knowing that they were both under the same sky searching for the same land made his search seem more worthwile and less redundant. Speaking of Tetra, she was supposed to be contacting him soon. She always contacted him first thing in the morning, right after the sunrise, and at night just as the final rays of the sun disappeared. Link had quite been enjoying the sunset, but it was nearing it's completion. Link held the stone ready, waiting for it to admit it's familiar humming noise. They contacted each other daily to keep up to date on their searches. Well, actually they were just discussing how bored they both were. They had contacted each other regularily like this for eight years, though now this seemed to be the only highlight of Link's days of searching. Link jumped as the stone began to hum. No matter how many times it went off, the loud noise still startled him. Link picked up the blue, glowing stone as Tetra's voice came through it "Hey!" she hailed. "Hey!" Link greeted happily, "How are you today?" "Fine, but I was starting to get sick of traveling the seas with no results. I've just docked at Windfall to stock up on supplies and to get some non-sea time. Where are you?" she asked in a voice that sounded very tired. "Well, to tell you the truth," Link took this oppertunity to cross his fingers behind his back, "I wa sheading that way myself. I'm about five minutes away at most." "Great!" Tetra's voice picked up some energy, "We should meet somewhere, how about the dock near the town's entrance?" "Won't your crew mind? With the exception of Niko, none of them seem to like me much, well definately not Gonzo." Link shuddered as he remembered his last encounter with the giant pirate in livid detail. "Please, it's just after the sunrise. They're such night owls that they have just gone to sleep, I think I'm the only one on that ship who sleeps decent hours. Plus they can't do anything about it with me as their captain. Link, don't mind Gonzo, he's just jealous." "Of what?" Link asked, glaring at the stone and feeling his heart pick up speed. "Nevermind that," Tetra said a little to quickly, "just come on over." "Alright, I'm on my way." the stone stopped glowing and fell silent as link pocketted it and pulled out his windwaker. "With the windwaker in hand, anywhere is five minutes away." he thought to himself as he conducted the balled of gales and directed them to take him to Windfall Island. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few minutes later, Link pulled the King of Red Lions into the docks, which were near the Windfall post, and tied his ship up so that it wouldn't float out to see. Then he took down the sail and shoved it into his spoil's bag. He ofton fondly referred to his bag as his "Start menu." Tetra was waiting on one of the posts of the dock, she had her hair down and was working out some tangles with her fingers. She slid off of it and walked over to Link. "Wow, right on time. Oh, and by the way, you didn't happen to use that Windwaker sticking out of your back pocket to teleport you from some far away place, did you?" she winked at him and folded her arms in front of her. "Okay, okay, you caught me," Link put a hand behind his blonde-haired head and blushed slightly. "It's fine, I'm just glad that you are here. I've missed you." Tetra took out a hair band from a pocket inside her blue vest and fastened her hair back into it's usual bun. "I've missed you too," Link walked up to Tetra, the wind catching his green tunic, "It's been so long since we've been together like this." "Yeah, no scallywags to bother us." Tetra motioned towards the small gulf that the pirtae ship was docked at. "I mean, they're great and all, but they can really get under my skin." "You're lucky, at least you aren't alone. It gets really lonely out on the sea with nothing but the wind and seagulls as company. Our daily calls help though." "I know, I would have lost my sanity if it weren't for them." Tetra agreed, "I forgot that you're all alone now. Sometimes I feel the same way, like I'm all alone at sea." Tetra was absent-mindedly fiddling with her blue vest. "What about your crew?" Link asked as he began to look up at the puffy, white clouds crossing the sky. "Well, they're not not that bad, but it's just differant. It's hard to explain really, but our calls have eased this feeling." Tetra blaced a hand on her chest where the gossip-stone was hidden under her lavender, silk tank-top. "Come on, we can talk as we shop." The two of them set off, walking beneath the archway that led to the shops of Windfall. A pleasant small wafted down from some of the flowers that had been placed around the town by the Joy club. Their first stop was the chuchu jelly potion shop. "Can't leave home...or Windfall...without this stuff." Link opened the door of the shop for Tetra and closed it behind them as he stepped inside. "Plus my grandma is getting a bit too old to make me elixer soup whenever I need it." Tetra giggled as Link placed his four bottles, plus some rupees and blue chuchu jelly he had collected onto the counter. Tetra looked shocked as the man behind the counter took the money, jelly, and bottles and got to work on the potion. Link looked at her with worry, "What's wrong?" he asked. "It's just, I've never laughed out loud like that at some silly statement." Tetra answered, regaining her composure. "Must be me," Link grinned as Tetra winked at him. "Must be you," she commented softly. "And this light-hearted feeling I have," Tetra thought to herself, "this one that makes me feel as if I could do anything...it must be you too." Link took his full bottles off of the counter and shoved them into his spoils bag. The clinking noise they made snapped Tetra out of her thoughts. The two walked around the island together, catching up on their latest adventures (no matter how exagerated they became in the retelling). As they did so, they restooked up on necesary supplies, such as arrows, bombs, and the like. However, something else happened as well, inside something else was being stocked up on. Neither of them said anything about it, but both of them felt it's effects. "Man, I never knew Windfall had so much to buy." Tetra said as she looked at the piles of bags in Link's arms. Tetra checked her watch, which read 1:47 PM, "Well, it should be an hour or two before my croonies wake up, but just in case, let's go somewhere more private." Tetra looked inquiringly at Link. "Do you know of anywhere?" "Okay, I know just the spot." Link took the lead, arms full of their purchases, as he led Tetra right behind the Chuchu jelly shop. There was a dock behind the building that was completely deserted, save for some pots and a few Seagulls who took flight as soon as they noticed Tetra and Link approaching. They fly off towards Dragon Roost isle, who's shadow outline could be seen from the dock. "Wow, this place is pretty private. So, how'd you find it? Tetra looked at Link from the corner of her eyes. Link plopped down and began arranging his supplies into his Spoils bag. "Well," he began, "back when we were fighting for Hyrule, whenever I needed a break from all the fighting, sailing, and temple exploring, I would come here for some privacy. The King of Red Lions couldn't find me here which is basically why I came here so ofton back then." "Oh," Tetra sat down next to link, putting the bombs she had bought into her shoulder-sack and letting her sandled feet dangle over the edge. Every once in awhile, a wave would hit the bottom. "So...a young adult of around nineteen traveling the seas, you must have a girlfriend out there on one of those islands." Tetra dared not look at Link, so she stared at the outline of dragoon roost island, she could even make out the head of the great Valoo, a dragon fire spirit who perched atop the mountain. "Well, I haven't had one. None of the girls out there," Link motioned to the great sea, "are right for me. What about you, you're the same age as me, and what's-his-face on deck?" "I don't know which one you're talking about, but no. Just...no. Not even if you payed me an extremally large sum of rupees or several chests full of the most valuable treasure. So I'm still single, and I always will be as long as I'm aboard that ship with that crew." Tetra sighed, a sigh of relief for reasons she was unsure of, but also a sigh of sadness. "You know," she mused, "you're really lucky Link. You have an island to call home with people who will care about you if you fail or get hurt. I don't have anything like that." "What are you talking about? If you ever got hurt, I don't know what I would do." Link looked at her, but there was tenderness in his eyes. Tetra smiled, "Same here, but with you, I mean. I just meant that, well, my mom died when I was very young. She left me a future of a pirate and I've never known a life outside of piracy. Well, she also left me the role of Princess Zelda," "Tetra examined the back of her hand where the Triforce of Wisdom resided, "but that's something entirely differant. She left me this ship and those idiots who I have lived with for as long as I can remember. I don't even know what island to call home. Sometimes I just wish I did." Tetra's voice faded out. "I have almost no memories of my parents either, they died when I was two. Aryll had just been born, not even a month old. My mom's mom, my Grandma, took my sister and I in after their death and raised us. Those two are my only family, but then again, the villigers of Outset are almost like family we know each other so well. I suppose I am lucky," Link sat silent for a bit, watching the cotton candy clouds pass over head, becoming hungry at the thought, then shook the thought off as he said, "Come to think of it, whenever I go to Outset, everyone's always talking about you. About how you saved Hyrule and most of all, Aryll. They always wander when you'll vist again and they always ask me how you're doing. I guess the people there think of you as one of the islanders. Why don't you call Outset your home?" Link turned to look at Tetra. "Really?" Tetra looked into Link's brown eyes timidly. Her hands in the pockets of her gray, baggy pants. "Yeah, the people of Outset love you. I could pull my boat over here and use the Windwaker to teleport us here. Oh, but your crew..." "They can survive without me," Tetra interupted, "I think that's a wonderful idea! How about tonight?" "Sure I'd love that," Link smiled, then ahstily added, "and so would the villigers." "I'd love that too," Tetra said with a smile and a laugh. However, her smile quickly turned to a frown as she heard someone calling out her name. "Miss Tetra!!!! Where are you?" Gonzo's voice shouted. Several other voices chimed in, calling out their captain's name as well. "Oh great." Tetra said through gritted teeth. "Link, how about we set outfor Outset right NOW!" Tetra quickly stood up from where she was sitting. "Right now?" Link got up as well and stared at her in disbelief. Tetra gave Link one of her famous winks and smirks. Link knew this look well, and nothing good ever came from it. The first time he encountered this look, he was shot out of a canon into a brick wall. He was always wary when Tetra was like this. "Yep, go get your boat and pull it to the dock, but be sure to have your Windwaker ready." "How am I going to get the boat here without them seeing me?" Link rubbed his elbow, knowing it wa spointless to argue even now. "Easy, swim to it, it's not far from here. Then we can make a break for it." there was excitement in Tetra's voice, and dancing in her eyes. This sort of quickness excited her, and Link knew that this was the pirate in her, taking risks without getting caught. Link nodded, as if he could disagree, admitting defeat. He stepped off the dock as the cold sea water surrounded him. With one final look back at Tetra, Link swam off to the front of Windfall where the King of Red Lions waited. He quickly untied it and set up the sail. He was used to quick get aways as well from his years of adventure, and from saving Hyrule. Link then pulled the Windwaker out of his back pocket and began to make his way towards Tetra, after conducting the winds to a more favorable position. However, Niko spotted him before he had gone far. "Hoy old swabbie!" he called out to Link. Link cringed and waved back as he turned back to steering the boat. "Great," Link thought to himself, clenching his teeth. Link then disappeared behin one of the buildings. "Where are you going, hey!" he heard Niko shout, and he heard Niko's foot steps as he ran, then he heard Niko talking to Gonzo. Finally Link pulled up next to Tetra, who was still waiting for him at the dock. She threw her shouldersack in and climbed in after it. "We might want to hurry, Niko spotted me and I think he told Gonzo." "Oh great, Niko's really fond of you. The again, he's fond of anyone who can revoke his status as 'swabbie'" Tetra mumbled. "Miss Tetra!" Gonzo shouted as he ran around the corner. "I've found you." He threw his arms up in a wave, but stopped as soon as he saw Link. "You!" he growled, turning red and balling his hands into fists. "Busted," Link slapped his forehead and hazerded a glance at Tetra. "What are you waiting for?" Tetra grabbed Link's hand that wa sholding the Windwaker and thrust it into the air, as if that would help," Use the Windwaker, quickly!" she commanded. Link didn't need to be told twice as he conducted the ballad of Gales, calling forth a cyclone, which began to pick the boat up from the ocean. The boat then began to spin. "Miss Tetra?" Gonzo called out, both confused and angry. "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya." Tetra waved to her crew as they all stared up at her. Then both she and Link disappeared into the afternoon sky, leaving calm waters behind them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please read and review.I've editted this fic three times, so hopefully it will be good. There are still many adventures, twists and turns left for these two and the other charcters from Windwaker.
