Forest Haven Fanfare Disclaimer: I don't own Windwaker, Wingull or the poem "Mine" the poem is by Emily Dickedson. I thought it fit well with an old Hyrulean dance. Well, R&R please. XxXxXxX Link woke up the next morning and hurried to the window. There were no signs of the strong gale from the night before. Link heaved a sigh of relief as he turned to see Tetra rising, sleepily, from bed. "Good morning sunshine," Link greeted her, turning his back to the window. Tetra grumbled, rubbing sleep from her eyes. "Coffee," she murmered. "Coming right up!" the door butler called from outside. A pot of steaming hot coffee appeared on the table. Tetra poured herself a cup and chugged it. After the cup, Tetra's hair was immediantly nice and neat, her clothes tidy, and her face bright and shining. "Uhh," Link just stared at her. "Coffee, it does a body good," Tetra winked at link, who was still confused at what just happened. "Well, I don't have anything to eat in this house as I rarely come here. We better head on over to Foresthaven if we want to get anything to eat." Link said. Tetra nooded and the two held hands as they made their way to the boat. Howerver, the boat was nowhere to be found. "Oh no!" Link exclaimed. He quickly began scanning the water for his beloved boat, but it was no use. "That strong gale last night must have blown my boat away!" "What strong gale?" Tetra inquired, scanning the ocean as well. "There was a really strong wind last night. It knocked me over. I bet it blew the boat away." Link sat down on a rock, head in his hands. "How are we going to get to Forest Haven now?" Tetra placed her arms around Link, comforting him. "HOOOO!" a shout startled both of them. They looked up to see Mr. Hoho with his purple hat, long white coat, and tell-tale telescope pressed to his eye. "A boat approaches!" "How long has he been here?" Tetra asked, motioning towards Mr. Hoho. "I forgot he sometimes came to sight-see on this island," Link sighed, but looked in the direction Mr. Hoho's telescope was pointed. Sure enough, a boat was approaching, and an all to familiar boat to Link. "Oh no," he grumbled. "Do we have any other option?" he asked Tetra and Mr. Hoho. "Unless you can swim that far without drowning," Tetra began to walk to the boat. Link followed grudginly behind. XxXxX Link and Tetra were misrable as they listened to the esteemed owner of the boat blab. "Oh! Come on, you like hoy pears, seagulls will be your best friend. Or how about some bait? You can never go wrong with bait. Did I ever tell you that I appreciate you, Link, for buying so much of my items? Oh, did you know this bait is the finest around? Special fish and pig blend. I was supposed to get some bottles in, but the shipment was late. Still, you can't go wrong with..." Link slapped 400 rupees on the counter and picked up a pear. "Keep the rest as a tip," Link mumbled, shoving the pear into his bait bag. Beedle took the ruppes and remained silent the rest of the way to Forest Haven, examining the rupees. Finally they arrived at Forest Haven. Link couldn't get off the ship fast enough. Beedle watched the two leave and shouted after them, "I APPRECIATE YOU!" Link watched happily as the boat began to move away from Forest Haven. "I hate that guy," Link stared after the boat in distaste. "Can anything else go wrong today?" Tetra kicked at a rock on the shoreline. "Hopefully not, after all we're about to see the great Deku tree, and I haven't seen Makar in ages." Link grinned. Tetra looked up at Link and sighed. She may have been good friends with Medli, but she had never met Makar or the tree, or any of the Koroks for that matter. She felt rather lonely, which was one fo the feelings she hated above all others. Tetra felt a pair of arms wrap her in an embrace. "Don't worry," Link seemed to read Tetra's mind, "I'm here and I'll introduce you to everyone. I know they'll love you." Tetra sighed; she felt safe in Link's arms. Link kissed her and that was all it took to restore Tetra's vigor. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Tetra led the way up the hill that led to the first grappling hook point. However, a Deku- baba reared up from the ground. Tetra just grinned as she took out her sword and sliced the Deku-baba neatly in two. Tetra picked up the seed that it had left behind and tossed it to Link. He stared at her as he stuffed the seed into his spoil's bag. "Wow, I wish I could kill those things that quickly," he commented with his mouth slightly open in shock at Tetra's ease in killing the deku-baba. "Woman's touch," she sheathed her sword and stood waiting for Link to get his grappling hook out. Tetra held onto him tightly as they swung across. Link used his shield to protect them from Octorocks that were inhabiting the river that led into Forest Haven. Tetra held tightly onto him again as he swung across another grappling hook point. She let go of him and the two entered Forest Haven's inner section. Tetra marveled at the inner section's many trees and other such flora. Tetra had never seen anything like it, in fact, Tetra had never seen a forest before. Link grabbed her hand, grinning at her awe-struck expression, and led her along the water-pathway. Link then paused and raised his hand in greeting to what appeared to be a hunk of wood with a leaf near the top. "Hay Makar!" Link waved at the wood. "Hoy, hey Link! I made a new song, want to hear it?" Makar offered, already playing warm up chords on his cello-like instroment. "Not before he talks with me, Makar," a great voice boomed. Tetra fell down out of fear, then scolded herself for doing so. Laughter could be heard, but Tetra could not place who was talking. Link took Tetra's hand once more and led her to a giant lilypad. The lilypad then began to rise and Tetra managed to keep her footing. Tetra then gasped slightly as she saw that the large, central tree of Forest Haven had a face! It laughed, which made Tetra even more wary of the tree. "Tetra, this is the Great Deku Tree, version two." Link introduced. Tetra just stared at the tree, mouth open slightly. "Hello there, Link has talked of you ofton, too ofton for most of our likings. In fact, Link, did you ever talk about anything else?" Link blushed at the Deku tree's words. "Anyways, it's good to finally meet you. Is there any specific reason why the two of you have come?" "Well, we're looking for the new Hyrule, but we have had no luck whatsoever. We came for advice...and to escape a jealous Gonzo, but mostly for advice." Link stated simply. Tetra smacked her forehead; Link was a bit too truthful at times. "Okay... Well, I do have some advice, meddler of weather," Link slouched slightly, wondering how the Deku tree had found out, "you can start by helping a poor little creature you blew off course to it's home. I'm not sure where it came from, but it's your fault it's here." The Deku tree shook one of his branches and a Seagull-like creature flew out. "Well, that's going to be hard considering that we don't have a boat anymore," Link looked at the seagull creature that resembled a seagull, except it had bluw markings on it's body. "Wingull?" the creature looked up at Link and flew up to his shoulder. "It likes me?" Link looked at the creature bewildered. "It's not hard to like you," Tetra winked at him. "I was once connected to the King of Red Lions as I held one of three pearls. I know where your boat has drifted to due to your 'little' mistake. You can try Greatfish Isle if you would like." the Deku Tree looked down at Link. "Greatfish Isle is like one big storm, it's dangerous." Link said. "Not anymore, it's quite peaceful there actually. You need that boat, trust me. Also, I don't think it would do you any harm to head to what's left of the Forsaken Fortress either. This is all I have to say to you, you can vist with the others if you want, but after you retrieve the boat and head to Forsaken Fortress, I advise you find that creature's home. He may be able to help you on your true quest. Link, do NOT tamper in what is best left alone again." with that said, the Deku Tree lowered the Lilypad that Link and Tetra were standing on and the two hopped off. "Hoy, Link! Will you two listen to my new song? I've written it about your journey, there are no words, but I find it's grand." Makar quickly strummed the Cello and began soft chords that grew stronger each time, then he broke into the chourus. Tetra felt the music in her body and began to tap her foot, however, that was not enough to satisfy her body, so she began a complex dance in perfect time with the song. When the song ended, Makar looked up at her and smiled somehow, "You're good Miss, but can you dance to this one?" he asked slyly, playing a faster tune. Tetra took a deep breath and began to flip and bounce to the music. She ended with a split just as Makar stopped playing. "You're good," Makar mused. "Thanks, man I missed dancing," Tetra commented, sinking to the grassy floor, her chest heaving after the work out. Link sat down beside her and held her tightly. "You're wonderful!" he exclaimed. Tetra blushed and rubbed the back of her head. Tetra then heard clapping from above them. Hollo was clapping and whistling, "Bravo! Good show there." Tetra's blush deepend "Don't just congradulate me. I couldn't have danced with out Makar's wonderful music," Makar blushed at Tetra's words. Makar picked up his cello and began playing a new song. Tetra immediantly recognized the song and grabbed Link's hands, pulling him up from where he had been sitting. Tetra began to swirl with him, luckily he knew a little of the dance. Tetra then began to sing the words to the song: Mine by the right of the royal selection! Mine by the royal seal! Mine by the sign in the scarlet prison Bars cannot conceal! Mine, here in vision and in veto! Mine, by the grave's repeal Tilted, confirmed,-delirious charter! Mine, while the ages steal! "Love that song, Makar," Tetra winked. "How did you know it? It's an ancient Hyrulean song, back near the age when the ancient language was dying," Makar looked up at her curiosly. "My mom taught me along with my words and my dancing skills. She was a wonderful woman and I'm thankful I had the oppertunity to know her," Tetra sighed, but she remained happy. Nothing could take her joy away now that she had allowed herself to dance and sing freely again. "Hoy, Link, is that the Tetra you used to always blab about? She's cute! By the way, I made a new potion, take it along with you, it may just come in handy." Hollo tossed a bottle to Link, who caught it. The contents inside, sealed by a cork, were a murky brown color. "Thanks, Hollo," Link waved at the small, wood person. "Don't mention it," Hollo waved back and retreated back into his study. "We better set off so we can get Red Lions back before sunset, I don't like that place at night." Link shuddered. Tetra put on hand on his shoulder for comfort. "Link, how are we supposed to get there without a boat?" Tetra asked. Link's face drooped as he remembered their only alternative. "Oh well, Beedle should be thrilled," Link grumbled as the two said goodbye to everyone. They headed outside and approached Beedle's floating shop, WIngull in tow. Link was right, he was thrilled at the prospect of a new area of buisness. Link used the Ballad of gales to transport them to Greatfish Isle; the last thing that anyone heard as they drifted off into the sky was a shout from Beedle: I APPRECIATE YOU! XxXxXxX Part five is done, and Beedle is happy. Good gosh I hate him and his "Buy 30 items and recieve a grand gift" Review please ^_^
