Last Hope by Lord Kadabra Part 3 Note: I do not own Pokemon, etc. But I have created several Pokemon for the purposes of this fanfic. Gigabyte is a virtual Pokemon, name derived (obviously) from the phrase of computer memory. The * symbol around text indicates Poke-ese, translated for comprehension and space purposes. *** The Pokemon were powerful and numerous, and Ash didn't stand a chance. But the leading Pokemon, a huge Charizard, was thrown backwards into the next Pokemon by a blast of water. And a female voice shouted an order. "Vaporeon, Ice Beam!" And the door to the room, earlier blasted open by a Tackle, admitted an angry Vaporeon and a tall, red-haired woman wearing the remains of a long red dress. Behind her stood a contigent of men and women, all dressed in torn and dirty clothing, some carrying Pokeballs, and others armed with shovels, picks or rarely, guns. And they were hardened by years of working in slave labor camps, starved and vengeful. Ash smiled at Mewtwo. "The calvalry has arrived." *** Misty leapt backwards, narrowly avoiding a Fire Blast. But she leapt into the path of a Thunder attack. Togepi trilled, and she Teleported five feet to the left, and then forward a dozen feet, each leap resulting in an attack to collide with an enemy Pokemon. Ash was using his weak psychic abilities to drive off attacks, and his Pokemon were holding their own. But the humans were being driven back. There were perhaps only a hundred Pokemon left, but they were strong. Two members of the away team remained, Ash and Richie, fighting back to back. And Mewtwo sat, watching it all. Misty suddenly Teleported next to Ash. SHe turned to him. "So what brings a nice boy like you to a dogfight like this?" He smiled at her. "Oddly enough, my wife insisted I came down here." She pouted. "Unfortunately, I don't date married men," she said, turning as Togepi blocked a Hyper Beam. He leaned to plant a kiss on her lips, but Togepi Teleported her away. "See you again sometime!" she shouted. Ash turned, and saw how badly the tables had turned. There were about 60 Pokemon, the others retiring to the 'Pokemon Center' in the complex, but there were only a dozen humans left. And both Richie and he were cornered by a group of Rock Pokemon. A Golem jumped up and down in anticipation, and threw itself forward in a Body Slam. But it never hit. A paper fan, flying with more force than anything of paper should, sliced through it, throwing its body into the wall. And then, nearly immediately afterward, an arrow resembling a rose shot past, aiming directly for Mewtwo's heart. With a scream of outrage, he Teleported away and stood glaring at the darkness. "Who did that?" he demanded. A male voice, calm and composed, answered him. "To protect the world from devastation," A female, speaking in the same way, but with a touch of danger, added. "To destroy the influence of the Pokemon's nation," "To support the virtues of truth and love," "To protect even unto the stars above." "Jesse." A red-haired woman dressed in long white pants and a white blouse enscribed with a large red 'R' appeared, holding a paper fan in her hand, and hurled it at the wall, where it embedded itself deeply. "James." A tall man, not imposing, but handsome stood confidently in a nearly identical set of clothing, and with a bow at his side and an arrow tipped with thorns in his hand. "Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light," "Surrender now or prepare to fight." A small Meowth leapt nibly in front of its partners, and shouted, "Me-owth, that's right!" Mewtwo glared at them. "Why do you interrupt me? It is very dangerous to annoy me, as you may know." But James pulled out a large gun, aimed it at the assembled Pokemon, and fired. The blast collided with the Rock and Grass types, and froze them. The ice also created an impossibly slick surface. In the momentary distraction, two people moved into action. Ash Ketchum ordered his Pikachu, who began to glow with the energy he built up in his electric body. And Jesse aimed another gun she held, and fired. The lightening released from Pikachu's body devastated every Pokemon left standing, and Mewtwo, turning to them, teleported them to the Pokemon Center. But he was distracted for much too long. When he turned from his Teleportation, the blast Jesse had fired was too close to avoid. It was a psychic beam, specially created by Silph Co's best scientist, which threw the Pokemon backward into his throne. A hushed silence descended over the auditorium, all eyes on the unmoving figure. But Mewtwo staggered up, his eyes glowing with an ice-blue fire. He laughed. He laughed darkly, looking down at the humans and Rebellion Pokemon. "Foolish humans. Do you think I would let it come to this? I'm not destroyed. I haven't even begun. Jesse, James, you remember what I stole from Pokemon League HQ, don't you? A prototype, a new Pokemon developed from the plans of Porygon, but stronger." He snapped his fingers. "Gigabyte, I choose you!" The ground shuddered as a huge computer terminal revealed itself from under Mewtwo. "Gigabyte, Username Mewtwo, password Ketchum." A blast of light emanated from the terminal, and a huge shape emerged. The size and shape of a Gyarados, it was colored black, and millions of green ones and zeroes streamed over its body. "Gigabyte, destroy them!" The Gyarados opened its eyes, and shouted, "Giga-byte, by-by, giga gi." Pikachu turned to Ash, and said, *It says that-our bones will forever lay in this arena as a tribute to our failure.* Ash looked up. "But we can beat it, can't we Pikachu?" He looked to Ellie, and said, "C'mon, use your Confuse Ray and then Night Shade! That should knock it out!" Ellie nodded, and concentrated on the attack. "Gaaaastly!" The beams of light lanced towards the Pokemon, who collapsed onto the ground. "Giiiii," it groaned. A voice echoed through the chambers. "Initiating Virus discovery program. Scanning...Virus eradicated." Gigabyte flew into the air, and glared down at its attackers. Mewtwo laughed. "Gigabyte is a personification of a computer network, with access to all state-of-the-art systems. There is no way that you can defeat it." Ash looked at Gigabyte. "He may just be right."
