 “Ring ring! Lunch!” The intercom blared. Everyone ran outside of the classroom and on to the 
playground.

“Hey Stone! I bet your mother’s real dumb!” Lilly offended. “Cause you’re really dumb!” 
“I don’t even have a mom.” Stone mumbled to himself. 
“You don’t have a mom?” Lilly asked, shocked. 
“No.” Stone answered. 
“Do you have a dad?” Lilly continued. 
“Yes...whoa wait a second,” Stone looked around, making sure no one heard. 
“Is your mom’s name…Misty Waterflower?” Stone inquired, whispering. 
“Yeah! But how did you know that?” Lilly quizzed, biting her lips. 
“My dad said that my mom’s name was Misty.” Stone told, feeling nervous. 
“That means my mom is your mom…” 
“And my dad is your dad…” Stone continued. 
“We’re brother and sister?!?” They almost shouted. 
“Make sure dad doesn’t seem to be going outside all the time, ok?” Lilly firmly assured. 
“And make sure mom doesn’t go “shopping” or anything, ok?” Stone responded. 
“We’ll talk about our parents everyday.” Stone finished. 
“Let’s go eat lunch, we are no longer rivals. That’s for sure.” Lilly continued as they walked off 
inside and to the lunchline.
     “Mom, I know I have a brother. His name is Stone. My dad’s name is Ash. Aren’t I right?” 
Lilly quizzed playfully. 
“H- How di- did you kn- know th- that?” Misty stammered, shivering. 
“My brother’s at my school, we’re in the same class, and now we’re friends!” Lilly exclaimed 
happily. 
“Don’t be serious. I have to go somewhere.” Misty replied briefly. 
“Where are you going?” Lilly inquired. 
“Oh, nothing you need to know. Bye! Take care!” Misty responded as she hopped into her car 
and drove off. 
“Actually, I’m going on a date.” Misty mumbled to herself. But Lilly had heard.  
“I have to tell Stone that our mother is…dating!”
