THE GATE BETWEEN TWO WORLDS

          Ages:

Ash, Misty, Tai, Matt, Sora: 14

Jo: 15

Tracey, Brock: 16

Izzy, Mimi: 13

TK, Kari: 10

Before I  start telling the story, I want to give some information about Digimon characters for the ones who don’t know Digimon. If you know Digimon, don’t read this part.

Digimon are like Pokémon, but they can talk, and they are more like friends than monsters to fight. When their human partners are in danger, Digimon evolve into stronger forms, fight (and they fight on their own, their human partners don’t tell them what to do.) and then turn back to their normal stage. Their human partners have crests, which show their most apparent characteristics, and help Digimon evolve into stronger states.

For the human characters, Tai is the leader of the group. He is like Ash in some ways –he looks a bit like him, he has brown out-of-order hair-, he doesn’t think about the consequences, and he is a bit dense. His crest is ‘courage’, his digimon is Agumon (it resembles Charmander, but uglier.) Sora has the crest of ‘love’, and as you can understand, she cares a lot about others. She looks like Misty, with red hair but down, wearing a helmet, yellow shirt and jeans. Her digimon is Piyomon, a pink bird digimon. Matt is the quiet and lonely one. He is a bit rebellious and wants to do things his way (so he sometimes fights with Tai). He doesn’t show his feelings, but deep down inside he cares a lot about his friends, and especially his brother, TK. His crest is ‘friendship’ , and his digimon is Gabumon (mixture of a teddy bear and a dog). Jo always worries about something, he panics easily, and he wants to keep out of trouble. His digimon is Gomamon, his crest is ‘reliability’. Izzy is the genius, he knows a lot about computers. He always carries a laptop with him. He has the crest of ‘intelligence’, his digimon is Tentomon (an insect like digimon.) Mimi whines a lot, she wants to be comfortable, she is bossy, but she is a good girl, she doesn’t like fighting. Her digimon is Palmon, her crest is ‘sincerity’. Takeru is Matt’s little brother. Matt always protects him, but he wants to stand on his own feet. His crest is ‘hope’, digimon is Patamon. Kari is Tai’s little sister, and the last digi-destined. She is very merciful and full of love for all. Her digimon is Gatomon, and her crest is ‘light’.

In Digimon, those seven kids (except Kari) are suddenly transferred to digital world to fight the evil forces. Then, they understand that they must fight to save the world. Kari joins them, and after a tough battle, they succeed. During all these, Matt and Tai have fights, Matt leaves the group, and the whole group breaks up, and comes together again. When they realize the most important thing they have is their friendship, they beat the evil forces, and go back home. And as you can guess, there are assumptions that Tai and Sora love each other.

Chapter 1

Our story takes place after Ash won his 3rd Orange League Badge.

It was another warm, sunny day when Ash, along with Pikachu, Misty and Tracey was sailing across the sea on the back of Lapras. They were in the middle of the sea, and somehow, they had lost their way to the Lemon Island.

“Well, where do you think we should go?” Misty asked.

Tracey was examining his map. “Hmm… To north… Or south maybe? It could even be north east…”

“I know!” shouted Ash. He pointed to his right: “We should go this way!”

“Oh no, not again…” Misty sighed. “Ash, you know, whenever we take your way, we get lost. So, shut up and follow Tracey’s advice, okay?”

“Oh really?” Ash said back, grinning. “This time I guarantee that we won’t get lost. Let’s go this way Lapras, c’mon!”

“No, we’d better go this way.” Misty spoke angrily, pointing to her left. “No Misty! It’s the wrong way! We should go right!”

“Left!”

“Right!”

“Left!”

“Hey guys, shut up, will you?” Tracey interrupted.

“Oh yeah, which way Tracey?” Ash asked him.

“I.. umm…”

“I knew it!” Ash didn’t even wait for Tracey’s answer. “Go right, Lapras!”

And Lapras did so, while Misty muttered something to herself.

Meanwhile, in another city, which didn’t have Pokémon but real animals, teens were sitting in a café, chatting.

“Oh Matt, what did you do, then?”

“He deserves a good punch in the face…”

“No, not really. I didn’t want to get into trouble. I just walked away.”

“It’s the smartest thing to do…”

Those teens were Tai, Sora, Matt, Mimi, Jo, Izzy, TK and Kari. Some time had passed since they saved the world from the evil Digimon. They were leading normal lives, doing what other teens did. Tai was the leader of the group, deciding without thinking much. Sora was the protector of everyone, she thought about the others before she thought about herself. Mimi was the posh one, loving having a comfortable life, while Izzy was the genius. Jo was a pessimist, worrying too much. Matt, he was the cool one, deep down caring a lot about his friends. Little Takeru and merciful Kari were the youngest of the group.

“Guys…” started Izzy. “I’m bored of sitting here.”

            “Yeah, me too.” added Tai.

            “Me too.” said Sora.

“OK. Let’s go to my place. Mama will prepare some meal for us to eat.” suggested Izzy.

            “OK. Let’s go.”

            “Let’s go.”

            “Yes.”

Back in the Pokémon world, our heroes weren’t alone. A submarine, in the shape of a Magicarp, was following them.

“Meow! What are they trying to do?” Meowth demanded.

            “I don’t know. Maybe they’ll make a visit…” Jessie thought aloud.

“Or they’ll have a rest..” James added.

            “Anyway, let’s keep going.”

“Ash Ketchum! I don’t know how you did it, but you’ve managed to get us lost again!” Misty was shouting at Ash.

“Don’t you talk to me in that tone again!” Ash yelled even louder than Misty. “I know what I’m doing…”

“Yes, you’re getting us lost again.”

            “No, I’m not.”

            “Yes, you are.”

            “Do not.”

            “Do too.”

            “Do not.”

            “Do too.”

            “Do no..”

            “Hey guys! Look at this!”

Their row was interrupted by Tracey. He was showing them something ahead.

“I can’t believe it!” Misty let out an exclamation of surprise. “How could you do it?”

“Oh my God!” Ash shouted happily. “I knew it! I knew someday I would! The land!”

“Pika!” Pikachu, sleeping during all that time woke up to join his trainer in that very joyful moment of his.

“How about this Misty? What were you saying? I was getting us what?” Ash teased.

Misty was really surprised. “Umm… Well… For once in your life, Ash Ketchum, you have chosen the right direction.”

            Ash grinned.

After a few minutes, they were on the coast. Without losing any time, they made their way to the center of the island.

Team Rocket arrived after a short while, and continued following them.

When they arrived at the city, Misty looked around her. “Guys, this city looks familiar to me.”

“Of course it will be Mist’. All cities on those islands are alike.”

“Well, the Pokémon Center isn’t so far away.” Tracey said. “We go straight and take the first street to left…”

            They walked for a while.

“Guys, I can swear that I’ve been here before.” Misty talked again. Suddenly, something moved in her bag. “Oh, are you awake?” Misty said to Togepi, holding the baby egg Pokémon in her hands.

“Good afternoon, Togepi!” Ash greeted the Pokémon, smiling. “You take good care of it, Misty.” Ash said suddenly.

“T-Thanks Ash.” Misty blushed after this compliment she didn’t expect. “He could be so kind when he wants to.” she thought quietly.

“Priii…” shouted Togepi. He was hungry.

“Don’t worry Togepi, we’ll be in the Pokémon Center in 5 minutes’ time.” said Tracey.

They turned left. They walked for 5 minutes. There wasn’t any Pokémon Center. They walked for another 5 minutes. Nothing. They walked for an hour, until they were out of the city, but still there wasn’t any Pokémon Center.

“Guys…” said Ash in the end. “We are out of the city. Do you think we are l-lost…”

Misty sent him a piercing look.

“N-no Misty… Don’t look at me like that! It was Tracey who got us lost this time.”

Tracey scratched his head. “Umm… No, I can’t have mistaken. Hey look!” He pointed at a man, taking a walk with his Growlithe. “We could ask him.”

“Excuse me sir,” Misty started, with a kind smile on her face. “Do you know where the Pokémon Center is?”

“Pokémon Center? Oh yeah. Follow this route. It’s next to Professor Ivy’s lab.”

“Professor Ivy?” asked Ash, Misty and Tracey in unison. “Isn’t her lab at another island?”

“Another island? No, I don’t think so. Her lab is here, on the Orange Island.”

“Aren’t we on Lemon Island now?” Misty demanded, trying to keep calm.

“No.” laughed the man. “You’re on the Orange Island now.”

“Thank you. Come on you two.” Misty said to Ash and Tracey. The man left.

When he was out of the earshot, Misty began yelling at Ash: “You fool! I knew you wouldn’t make it! Oh my God! How can you get us lost again every time you lead the way! I just can’t believe it. I told you this island looked familiar!”

“Misty, calm down.” Ash answered, giving her the smile that he had when he was embarrassed.

“Calm down! When will you stop being so dense and listen to me?”

“Hey Misty!” Tracey placed his hand on her shoulder. “There’s nothing we can do now. Let’s just go to Professor Ivy’s lab and have our Pokémon and ourselves rested. OK?”

“C’mon, it’s not that bad.” told Ash again, when he saw Misty sulking. “We will see Brock, ain’t it fine?”

“You just shut up.” Misty snapped at Ash.

Ash preferred to keep quiet this time. He hadn’t wanted to make Misty sad or angry lately. Somehow he always wanted to see her happy, and proud of him.

They made their way to Professor Ivy’s lab.

Team Rocket followed them as usual.

Tai &co. had arrived at Izzy’s house by then. They were sitting in his room, Izzy, who was perfect with computers, looking up for something in his computer, the others munching chips and sandwiches, Kari and TK playing with toys.

“Guys, look at it!” Izzy suddenly exclaimed. All the others gathered around the computer in an instant. “I’ve updated my computer. I’ve added some very cool programs. Like, when you click on this…” He dragged the mouse and clicked on an icon: “The computer automatically updates itself.”

“That’s very nice, Izzy…” Mimi said without much interest. “Now, can we go to fashion pages? Or cosmetics? I need to…”

            “Mimi…” Matt interrupted.

“Anyway, and when you open this file… Aoww!”

            “What’s that?” Sora asked, concerned.

“Oh, there’s something wrong with the wire…”

Suddenly, the computer began emitting light.

            “What’s happening?” Mimi screamed.

“Matt, I’m scared!” Takeru hugged his brother.

Then, those yellow sparks turned into the colors of rainbow.

“I remember that light…” Jo said quietly.

All of a sudden, the light filled the room.

“Kari, hold my hand…” Tai shouted, before they began twisting as if they were caught in a twister.

            “NOOO…”

There was a blast, and a bright light, and smoke. When the smoke was dispersed, there were no children in the room.”

Ash suddenly stopped and looked around. He opened his arms in both directions that Misty and Tracey hit them and stopped too. They had been walking in the forest for a while. Fortunately, Ash hadn’t insisted on leading the way this time and in the guidance of Misty, they were getting closer to the lab.

“Why have you stopped now, Ketchum?” Misty asked angrily.

            “Didn’t you hear that?”

            “Hear what?”

“Something is moving behind that bush…”

“Do you think it’s a Pokémon?” Tracey whispered.

“Oh, don’t be silly.” Misty murmured. “There’s nothing. Let’s go.”

Tracey and Ash didn’t move. Pikachu jumped to the ground from Ash’s shoulder. He began to listen, too. Something moved and the bush cracked again.

“Whatever you are, I’ll catch you…” Ash said quietly. “Pikachu, thunder shock!” he yelled. After the attack, he threw the pokéball.

            “Oww…”

“Gotcha!” Ash ran towards the bush with Tracey after him. Misty hadn’t moved. She was afraid that it was a bug Pokémon.

            “But hey… That’s…”

“Ash! I knew it was you…”

            “B-Br…”

And Brock got up from behind the bush. “Hi!”

“Brock!” Misty screamed in surprise, ran to him and threw her arms around him. “Oh, Brock! I’ve missed you!”

            “Oh, hi sis!”

“Hi pal!” Ash and Brock hugged each other.

“And… Hello…?” Brock turned to Tracey.

“Oh, that’s Tracey. He’s traveling with us. He is a Pokémon sketcher.” Misty introduced Tracey to Brock. “And Tracey, he’s Brock, remember? The guy I told you about…”

            “Yeah, I remember. Hi, Brock.”

            “Pika!”

            “Hello Pikachu. Hi, Togepi!”

After that heart-warming moment of rejoining, Brock asked them why they had come. Misty explained him how Ash got them lost. By the while, they had arrived at Prof. Ivy’s lab. Brock invited them in to have dinner, after leaving the Pokémon to the Center.

“Oh Brock, I’ve missed your meals so much!” Ash complimented, swallowing a meatball so fast he had to cough.

“And I’ve missed traveling with you two. Oh, you must tell me everything that happened since I left. Why are you still her Ash?”

So Ash, Misty and Tracey told him what happened all together.

            “And how about you?”

“Well, I…” He looked anxious about something. “I thought everything would be fine here, I could be a good Pokémon breeder. But… It’s not as I thought…”

            “Like what?”

“I’m just spending my days helping Professor, looking after her Pokémon. But I, myself, I can’t do anything. I can’t discover new things. I can’t get better.”

“Oh, I see…” Misty became thoughtful.

“Hey, Brock…” Ash said after a while. “Maybe… Why don’t you join us again? I mean…”

“Do you want me to travel with you?”

“Yes, hey Ash, that’s a bright idea, yes Brock, join us again!”

            “But…”

“Oh no, you won’t be any trouble for us.” Tracey answered his question even before he asked it. “Just tell Professor that you’d leave.”

Brock thought for a while. “Umm… Why not?”

“Yes!” Misty shouted, throwing her arms open. Accidentally, her arm hit Ash in the face and knocked him off his chair.

            “Oww…”

            “Ooops… Sorry.” Misty giggled.

            “OK guys.”

“Get up, Ash.” Misty helped him get up. They were both laughing.

***

“Ooww… My head… Where are we?” Tai muttered to himself, straightening up a bit. He was lying on the ground. Around, his friends were lying on the ground, too. “Kari! I must find her!” he spoke to himself again. He couldn’t get on his feet, so he crawled towards his sister.

“Tai?” Izzy had woken up, too.

“Hey, Kari! Wake up!” Tai was shaking Kari, trying to wake her up.

            “Tai? Where are we?”

“Hey! No, where are we?” It was Jo.

“Oh, my head… It hurts.” Mimi was whining.

“Sora! Matt! Takeru! Wake up!” Jo nudged them all.

“What’s happening here? Is everybody OK?” Sora asked.

“Matt… Hey, wake up!” Takeru was trying to wake Matt up.

“Ow…” Matt woke up. “Hey! It’s so dark… I can’t see anything. Hey, I can’t…” Matt shouted in panic.

“Matt, why don’t you open your eyes?” Mimi sniggered.

“Oh! Right…” Matt turned back to his usual ‘cool’ mood as soon as he opened his eyes. All his friends were looking at him amusedly. “Ehm… Where are we, anyway?”

Izzy was working on his computer as usual. “Oh, no! The connection is cut!”

“Guys…” Sora was looking around. “This place is familiar…”

            Tai came near her. “Really…”

“Hey! Aren’t we in Digimon world now?” Jo asked.

Everybody got to their feet and looked around. It didn’t take long for them to understand where they were.

“Oh no! Why have we come here again? Do we need to save the world again! I don’t want to fight again. I want to go home. I want to be in my bed. I want to…”

“Mimi, will you stop it?” Matt spoke with his usual calmness.

“What are we going to do?” TK asked, clinging Matt’s t-shirt.

“I need some time to operate my computer.” Izzy talked.

The others looked around while Izzy sat down with his computer opened on his lap.

While looking around, Kari realized shadows running towards them. They came closer and closer.

            “Tai… Look at this!”

“Wha…” There weren’t shadows running towards them anymore. They were…

            “Agumon!”

            “Gatomon!”

They were their old friends, their digi-partners that had helped them saving the world from the evil digimon before.

Mimi ran towards those creatures, shouting: “Palmon!”

It was a touchy moment of re-union.

“Oh, Piyomon! I’ve missed you so much…” Sora exclaimed, nearly crying.

“I’m so glad to se you again, Gomamon.” Jo said to his digimon.

“Tentomon! Great to see you…” It was Izzy speaking.

“Patamon, did you miss me?” TK was hugging Patamon.

“Gabumon… Don’t say anything…” was all Matt could say.

After their excitement had reduced to its normal state, they could go back to thinking why they came there.

“I don’t understand…” Izzy talked to himself. “I didn’t even press a key. The computer did it on its own.”

“Well, you can fix it, right?” Tai asked him anxiously.

“Can’t you fix it later? I’ve missed Palmon so much and want to spend some time with him…” Mimi interfered.

“Don’t worry, Mimi. It will take time to repair it.”

Children sat there and talked with their digimon for hours and hours, while Izzy was trying to fix the problem in his computer. Tai had become hyperactive when he saw Agumon, his old friend, they were both running around crazily. Sora was caressing Piyomon’s feathers, while Mimi and Palmon were weeping. Matt and Gabumon had found themselves a quiet corner, they were sitting there.

After a long time, they heard Izzy calling them excitedly: “Guys, look here! I guess I’ve made it. We can go home now.”

            “So quick..?” Gatomon asked.

“I’m afraid we have to, dear.” Kari consoled her.

“Everybody, gather here now.” Izzy ordered.

“Well, it was very nice to see you again, Gomamon.”

            “Take care, Matt.”

            “I’ll miss you Sora…”

The kids formed a circle around Izzy and his computer. Tai was moving all the time, examining the computer screen closely, and asking silly questions to Izzy.

“OK. Hey, Tai, don’t touch the computer. Get ready…”

“Hey, what if I press this button?” Tai couldn’t stop himself.

            “No, not that… NOOO!!!!!”

It was too late. While walking around, Tai tripped on a stone and fell on Izzy. The stone hit the keyboard, and there were sparks on the computer now.

“Tai, what are you doing?” Mimi shouted.

Suddenly, there was a bright green light, and a very strong wind, a twister, which caught all the children, and plus their digimon, who weren’t standing so far away. They all began twisting and turning again. The area was covered with fumes and smoke. When the smoke was dispersed, children and digimon were absent.

Next morning, Ash, Tracey, Misty and Pikachu, with Brock, said goodbye to Professor Ivy and left. After a short argument between Ash and Misty about which way to go, Brock, who was very good with maps took over and told them the direction to go. He walked in front of Ash and Misty with Tracey, Ash and Misty followed them, Pikachu on Ash’s shoulder and Togepi in Misty’s arms.

“Well…” Brock whispered to Tracey. “Have much things happened since I left? Something those two didn’t tell me?”

“Like what?” Tracey whispered back. Suddenly, it dawned to him. “Oh… No, they haven’t stopped fighting as you see. But…”

            “But what?”

“Once, Ash was battling to win his 2nd badge. And, the gym leader he fought… Misty seemed to have found him very cute. She showed great interest to him…”

            “Was Ash jealous?”

“Well, he didn’t want to show it, but for me, he was. He treated Misty more distantly than usual.”

            “Oh really?”

“Oh, that’s not all. Do you remember when that freak captured Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres? Ash was riding on Lugia’s back, then they were hit and they fell in water. Ash was unconscious, and do you know what Misty did?” Brock shook his head ‘No’. “She dived into that icy water, swam and saved Ash. She would nearly cry when he was lying unconscious on the ground.”

“Man, that’s very romantic. You don’t need anymore proofs to…”

Their conversation was interrupted with voices coming behind them.

“You, Ash Ketchum, don’t forget you owe me a bike!”

“Is it that stupid bicycle of yours, Misty?”

            “Yes.”

“OK. I may owe you a bike. It doesn’t give you the right to step on my foot.”

“I’m telling you, it was an accident. I was escaping from that Weedle…”

            “You’re acting like a baby.”

“Baby? They’re the only creatures I’m afraid of, you know, and you’re still teasing me!” Misty’s voice became louder.

“You’re stepping on my feet…” Ash became loud, too.

“Told you it was an accident!” Misty shouted.

“I don’t like you walking around, whining and complaining about everything…”

“Umm, well…” Tracey grinned to Brock. “Which proofs?”

“Complain? What have I ever complained about, Mr. Dense?”

“Even now you’re doing it. Insulting me. When did you ever liked a thing I did, when did you ever approved the things I did? Never. Now…”

            “Don’t forget, you owe me a bike…”

“A bike, a bike… Will you leave me alone if I pay you back for that stupid bike?” Ash shouted desperately.

“Of course I… Umm…” Misty looked at the ground. She hadn’t really thought what would she do when Ash paid her for her bike. She really didn’t want to leave.

“Why are you thinking? Yes or no?”

“What? Of course I would!” ‘No, don’t ever pay for it…’ she silently begged. “Are you paying me now?” she asked, more calmly.

Brock and Tracey could see how worried she was. Brock shook his head.

Ash was worried, too. He didn’t know why he had said that. He didn’t want Misty to leave at all. In his last battle, when Rudy, the gym leader had asked Misty to stay with him, he had become quite jealous. Without Misty, the road would be so silent, and boring. Then Misty had encouraged Ash to win, showing she would come with him. Did she want to come just because of her bicycle?

“Misty…” Tracey silently spoke. “Even if he pays you, we don’t want you to go…”

Ash searched his bag, and all his pockets. He was relieved when he found out that he didn’t have enough money to pay Misty. He looked at Misty. “Not yet…” he grinned embarrassedly. He scratched his head. “I don’t have enough money to pay you.”

Misty became lively and happy again. “Well… I’ll have to continue traveling with you, then.”

Ash thought he liked even fighting with her. If she had gone, everything would have been so quiet…

They kept walking. Both Ash and Misty had shut their mouths up now, in order not to turn back to that subject of Misty leaving.

“See, I told you. Or maybe I didn’t. They can’t let each other go. They need each other.” Tracey whispered.

            “Why not love?” asked Brock.

“I’m not sure. Maybe they like each other just as a friend…”

“Friends?” Brock laughed. Misty and Ash heard him.

“What are you talking about?” Misty angrily asked.

“We… Nothing. None of your business, Misty.”

“Well… If people are talking about me, it concerns me a lot.”

“Misty, do you have to shout that much?” Tracey covered his ears with his hands.

“Of course she has to…” Ash interfered. “She’s as loud as a…”

“You Ash Ketchum, just shut up!” Misty yelled at Ash this time.

Suddenly, there was a loud noise behind them. When they turned around to look, their mouths dropped wide open. Some people were falling down from the sky, they were appearing out of thin air.

“Oww…” They could here James whimper. They weren’t surprised to hear him, they already knew TR was following them.

“James, what’s…” Jessie’s sentence was cut by another person landing on her.

            “MEAOW…”

Ash, Misty, Brock and Tracey froze. Togepi began crying. Pikachu jumped on the ground and lowered its ears.

James was able to stand up, getting rid of the thing on his back. “Hey Jess, look at that…” He pointed to the creature lying on the ground.

Now, Jessie was on her feet also. “What a strange Pokémon…”

“Meow! Look at that! There are humans also!”

“Humans?” Ash, Tracey, Misty and Brock shouted.

“James, are they dead?” Jessie anxiously asked.

James slowly sat on his knees near a blue-haired boy, held his shaking fingers in front of his nose. He felt the warm air on his fingers. “A-alive…” James stammered.

“Why are you guys standing there? Come and help us!” Meowth snapped at Ash and co.

They all slowly walked towards Meowth. There were eight kids, and eight strange Pokémon they never saw before. They had fainted.

Ash held his Pokédex towards a cat-like pokémon. Could it be another kind of Meowth?

“No information found.” the Pokédex said.

Misty had sat down near a little blonde boy, gently shaking him to wake him up. “Wake up…” she was whispering. “Please… Are you okay?”

“Oh, that’s a very nice hat…” Jessie bent over the girl with a pink hat. “Very stylish. Hey, wake up!”

“Oh, my God!” James shouted, nearly crying.

“What?” Everyone else looked at him.

“Look at that face!” he answered, his eyes full of fears. “What a heavenly face! She’s… sniff… sleeping like an angel!” He was showing them the little girl with short, brown hair. “She reminds me of my sister…”

“James, you don’t have a sister…” Jessie spoke bluntly.

“I know… But… She’s… Oh my God!” By saying this, he broke into tears, crying anime style.

Suddenly, the boy lying next to Tracey’s feet moved. He was blonde and handsome. “Takeru…” he muttered.

“Takeru?” The others repeated. “He’s talking…”

Ash and Pikachu bent over that boy. “Hey, wake up!” Ash poked him. He didn’t open his eyes. “Guys, there’s no way we can wake them up this way.” Ash said. “Move away…”

Misty, understanding his intention moved away, pulling Brock and Tracey with her.

“Pikachu, thunder shock!” Ash shouted.

“Aoww!” TR couldn’t escape.

They got the result they expected soon. Everybody lying on the floor screamed and woke up. ü

“Ow, it hurts! Where are we?” Tai shouted, frantically looking around. “Kari, are you OK?”

“Fine,” answered a thin voice.

“Hey, who are you? What do you want from me?” Mimi shouted at Jessie, who had bent over her head to look at her hat.

“Very nice hat, dear.” Jessie answered.

“Everybody okay? Who are you?” Sora shouted.

Matt, Izzy, Jo, TK and the digimon woke up, too.

“Leave us alone! Go away! Go Patamon!” TK shouted, pointing at Pikachu. Patamon flew towards it. He sent bubbles to Pikachu. Pikachu answered him by sending some sparks.

“What have you done to Patamon!” Matt got up and ran to Ash.

“Stop!” Misty threw herself in front of Ash, opened her arms protectively and shouted. “Let’s find out what’s going on here, first.” she added more calmly. Matt stopped at an instant. All other kids got up and looked around.

“What kind of Pokémon are these?” James asked Izzy.

“Pokémon?” Tentomon replied.

“My God, Jessie, these pokémon can talk! Meowth, I thought you were the only pokémon which can talk…”

“We are not pokémon or whatever…” Gabumon replied. “We are digimon!”

“Digimon?” Tracey asked. He was sketching the pictures of those new creatures at the same time.

“Where are we now?” Sora asked.

“Orange Islands, dear.” Jessie answered.

“Orange Islands? There isn’t such a place in Digimon World.” Tai spoke back.

“What is Digimon???”

So, they all sat down, and first introduced themselves.

“I’m Ash Ketchum, and I’m gonna be a pokémon master.” Ash introduced himself.

“Someday…” Misty added, laughing slyly. Ash shot her an angry look. This took Tai’s attention.

“What a scalawag…” he was telling this to Misty, quietly of course.

“And these are Tracey- he is a pokémon artist, Brock –a pokémon breeder, and Misty…”

“Your girlfriend?” Mimi interrupted. Both Ash and Misty blushed and looked away.

“His girlfriend?” Misty shouted. “His girlfriend? Never. How dare you say…”

“Oh- sorry…” Mimi was taken aback by Misty’s reaction.

“Such an arrogant…” Tai thought again.

“Ehm, anyway…” Ash continued. “She owns a gym, but she’s traveling with me…”

“Because he owes me a bike.” Misty smiled.

Finally, with many interruptions and corrections by Misty, Ash finished telling his story. Then, Tai introduced himself and his friends, and told them what happened.

“We were sitting, Izzy was playing with his computer…”

“And we were transferred to Digimon World.” Kari continued. James’s eyes filled with tears again when he heard Kari speaking.

“And then Izzy found a way to take us back home…” Mimi added.

“Tai fell on the computer, and we were suddenly transferred to here.” Sora finished.

Jo added that they had gone to the Digimon World before, twice, to save the world. And he told them about digimon and their adventures.

“Very interesting…” Tracey murmured. “I believed there was life out there, in space…”

“And, you want to go back home, right?” Ash asked Tai.

            “Exactly.”

“Hey, Tai…” It was Izzy. “I guess… That won’t be possible for a while.”

“Why?” Tentomon shouted. Pikachu was startled to hear it speaking.

“My computer… It will take a lot of time to repair it…”

Brock took a look at the laptop. “Well” he said. In the Pokémon Center, there are a lot of computers. They may be of use.”

            “Really?”

“Yeah.” Ash said. “Hey guys, why don’t you come to the Lemon Island with us? There’s a gym there, you can use the computer in the gym.”

            “Well, I don’t know…” Tai answered quietly.

“Tai…” Matt spoke for the first time. “We don’t have any other choice. Let’s go with them.”

“OK, then.” Tai accepted the suggestion. “Let’s go to that…umm…”

            “Lemon Island.” Misty completed.

“Yeah, thanks.” Tai said coldly. Sora looked at him in surprise. Why was he behaving so distantly towards that girl?

Takeru asked a very logical question: “How do we go there?”

“Umm… Can those digimon fly?” Brock asked TK.

            “Some can.”

Piyomon and Tentomon evolved into Birdramon and  Kabuterimon. Ash & co and TR were so surprised.

Ash let out Pidgeot. It was digi-destined kids’ turn to be surprised now. How could those creatures come out of those little balls?

            “Before you go…” Jessie began.

            “You’d better…” James continued.

            “Who are you?” Mimi asked.

            “Prepare for trouble”

            “Make it double”

                        TR motto

            “Team Rocket?” Jo asked.

“Yes, dear, and now we’re going to steal your digimon. Boss will be astonished.” Jessie answered.

“No, you can’t take them away from us!” Kari shouted at them

“Ah, no, don’t you cry, little girl…” James began crying again.

Jessie hit him with her paper fan. “Don’t be a fool, James. You’re acting so…”

“I can’t help it, Jessie.” James answered. “Those innocent, pure eyes…” He broke into tears.

“That’s enough now.” Ash said. “Pikachu…”

“Piii- kaa- chuuuuu!!!” There was a blast.

“Looks like TR’s blasting off again!”

“Who are they?” TK asked Tracey.

“Team Rocket.” Tracey answered, totally not caring. “They always want to steal our pokémon.”

“And they always blast off…” Brock added. Misty giggled.

“Oh, that girl liked my hat.” Mimi said happily.

“Anyway, let’s go. We’ll talk on the way.” Ash cut the conversation.

Ash, Tai, Kari and Izzy took Pidgeot. Misty, Sora, Matt and TK would travel on Birdramon. Tracey, Brock, Jo and Mimi got on Kabuterimon. Of course their digimon came with them.

So, chatting, trying to know each other well, they headed for the Lemon Island.

Kids didn’t have any idea why they were sent to Digital World. They thought it was an accident…

Well, it will be a long story. It’s just the introduction now. Anyway, thanx for reading and send feedbacks!
