          Chapter 2

As for  the ages, the Digimon characters, except Kari and TK appear with their season 2 look. They have grown up. However, the little siblings are still young, coz I need them to be young. (I didn’t think the older ones could be 11 years anyway, in season 1... Look at Matt, how many of you know an 11-year-old kid acting or dressing like Matt? J)

In our last chapter, our heroes met. They became friendly quickly, except that Tai thought Misty was a scalawag, and Matt preferred to stay a bit distant.

Finally, our heroes arrived at Lemon Islands.

Ash became quite excited when he saw the land laying below. “This time…” he was muttering to himself, “It will be very easy to win a badge. It has to be. I just can’t bear Misty taunting me all the time if I lose…”

“Hey Ash!” Tai began. “What are you going to do now, when we arrive? I mean, what will matter if you win a badge?”

“Oh, its very important.” Ash replied. “When I win this badge, I will be able to join the Orange League. If I beat all my rivals there, I will become a pokémon master. The greatest master ever!”

“Oh, aren’t you a pokémon master yet?” Kari asked.

            “No, why?”

“Why is Misty calling you ‘Mr. Pokémon Master’, then?”

            “Oh, Misty…” Ash sighed.

“She seems to be a girl who doesn’t know when to shut up…” Tai told.

“She is.” Ash approved. “I don’t why, but she always teases me. She never seems to like a thing I do.”

“It should be because you ruined her bike…” Izzy interfered.

“No.” Ash said back. “No, ‘cause even she sometimes forgets the reason she’s traveling with me.” he smiled at this.

            “She’s a trouble-maker, isn’t she?” Tai asked.

“Sometimes, she is.” Ash answered. “She drives me crazy… But the other times, she’s a good friend. I mean, when she forgets to dislike everything I do and shout at everything and be disagreeable…”

Tai felt even more pushed away from Misty when he heard her acting like a brat most of the time.

“Maybe it’s her character…” Kari tried to protect Misty.

“Maybe, but if so, why is she treating Tracey and Brock better? She teases them and shouts at them too, but not as much as she does to me…”

“Hey, Ash!” Their conversation was interrupted by Tracey shouting, Kabuterimon flying close to Pidgeot. “Where do we land?”

Birdramon began flying close on the other side.

“Let’s land on the beach.” Misty suggested. “So that we can see what the city’s like when looking for a place to stay…”

Tai opened his mouth to say to Misty that it wasn’t her, but Ash to decide where to land, but he stopped when his eye caught Kari’s disapproving glance.

“Good idea.” Brock shouted from the other side. “OK with you, Ash?”

            “Yeah.”

After a short while, they were all on the beach. Misty and Mimi were checking the hotness of water, while Sora, with Kari was looking at water pokémon interestedly. Tracey and Brock were examining the map, to make sure they had landed on the correct island this time. Ash was giving some more information about pokémon to Tai, Joe, Izzy, Matt and TK.

“OK, now, can we go?” Ash asked. Everyone agreed.

After a few minutes, they were in the town.

“It is a beautiful place.” Mimi spoke after walking silently for a while.

“Yeah, I like it, too.” Sora replied.

“Do you always travel across such places?” TK asked Ash.

“Usually.” Ash answered.

“When we don’t get lost.” Misty added. Ash didn’t say anything.

“Beautiful, isn’t it, Matt?” TK asked his brother.

“Very exotic.” was Matt’s reply.

This was true, the island had even surprised Ash, Misty, Brock and Tracey. People were wearing bikinis, they had wrapped a cloth around their body instead of wearing dresses. Men were wearing Hawaiian shirts, and everybody was wearing necklaces made of unusual flowers.

“Girls…” Brock wore that love-struck expression on his face again. “Hi, sweetie, I will be a great pokémon breeder someday. Wanna have a cup of tea with me?” Brock drooled over a girl. The girl looked shocked.

“You stupid!” Misty yelled, the next second, she was pulling Brock’s ear and dragging him away. “Leave the poor girls alone.”

“Understand what I mean?” Ash whispered to Tai, Izzy and Kari. They all nodded.

They kept walking. Misty was walking near Ash, commenting on everything they saw.

“Mango cake? Very interesting, isn’t it? Hey, look at that Horsea… Look at its colors… I have never seen such trees before… Oh, look at that dress… I want one, too…” Ash was tired of listening that lot of things at a time, although he wasn’t even paying attention. “Look at this couple, Ash. They must be on honeymoon or something. Wouldn’t it be sooo romantic?” Ash looked at her interestedly for the first time, and raised his eye brows. “I mean… Having a holiday here, with the person you love…” She looked into Ash’s eyes. Ash looked into her eyes for a short second, too, but then quickly lowered his head.

“And, umm, who would that guy be?” he stammered, looking at Pikachu, who was now looking at him with a sly grin. “Rudy?”

“Who is Rudy… Oh, that gym leader… Ash, you don’t think I love him, do you?” She looked at the boy walking beside her. “Are you… Jealous?” She giggled.

“Me? Ehm, no. Never. Of you? Not even for once in a million years. Euh, it is just…”

“I never knew you remembered such details. Except the battle.”

“Of course I do! I can remember how you fell head over heels for Danny, too.”

“You were really jealous, weren’t you?”

“I wasn’t!”

“Why do you talk about the guys who liked me, then?”

“Because…” Ash thought what to say for a while. “Ehm, well, they were the last two leaders I fought…”

Misty didn’t answer, but giggled. They didn’t talk for a while.

“Er, Misty?” Ash talked again.

“Yes, Ash?”

“I just wondered…” He tried to make it look as if he was teasing her. “Is there a guy you’d like to… I mean… What you said before…”

Misty shrugged, and smiled. “Who knows?” She looked at Ash again. Ash was perplexed.

Their conversation was cut when Mimi complained: “I’m tired, everybody. Where will be stay for the night?”

“Oh, right.” Tracey answered. “Where shall we go? The Pokémon Center?”

“Oh, look at this!” Misty shouted. She was standing in front of an advertisement board. “Open and closed swimming pool, sauna, three different restaurants, pokémon service units… Guys, let’s stay here!” she continued.

“The Lemon Palace…” Sora read from the advertisement. “Well, that looks fine to me, too.”

“Yes, let’s go there…” Mimi added.

“But girls… We can’t stay there.” Ash began explaining. “We don’t have enough money.”

“We don’t? Oh yeah. If you hadn’t spent that much money for buying a completely needless potion…” Misty started.

“It isn’t needless!”

“Really? What kind of a difference has it made except having all your pokémon sick?”

“Er… Anyway, that’s not the point. We can’t stay here, we don’t have enough money.”

“I don’t think we don’t.” Misty opposed. “We’ve checked how much money we had this morning with Tracey, and there is enough money to stay here.”

“Well…” Ash was edged this time. “What if I say I don’t want to stay here?”

“Do you prefer to camp instead of staying in a five star hotel?”

“I do. I don’t want to stay here.”

“Hey, guys…” It was Izzy. “Why don’t we spend the night in another place, if you can’t agree?”

“No, Izzy. I want to stay here, Ash Ketchum.”

“And I don’t.”

“Hey, Misty, why don’t you just do what Izzy says and leave Ash alone…” Tai spoke from behind.

If she hadn’t been this angry, Misty would have ignored Tai, but unfortunately, she didn’t. “It’s none of your business, Tai.” she answered him with a cold voice. Because Sora held him back secretly by grabbing his arm, he didn’t answer.

“Why are you shouting at him?” Ash yelled at Misty.

“Oh, it’s none of your business, too, Ash. For once, I want to choose where to stay, and you just don’t accept what I suggest. I’m tired of camping, and Pokémon Center is boring. You can go wherever you’d like to, but I’m staying here.” She pointed at the picture of the hotel, turned around on her heels and started walking towards the hotel.

“Misty, you can’t…” Ash shouted. “Oh, this girl…”

“So, where do we go?” Joe asked.

“Ash, Misty’s right.” Brock spoke. “We have enough money. And I can visit Nurse Joy another time. I want to stay in the hotel, also.”

“Let’s go…” Sora grabbed Tai’s arm, and Mimi grabbed Joe’s, and began dragging them after Misty.

“Ash, do what Misty says for once.” Tracey whispered. Everyone else, except him and Tracey had started following Misty. Ash sighed angrily, and followed Misty, too.

The place to stay didn’t really matter to him. He was angry because Misty had won the fight this time. He could stay in a luxurious hotel. In fact, he wanted to. Maybe if Misty had asked his opinion more kindly…

Until the hotel, no one spoke. Tai kept sending angry glances at Misty, and Ash kept talking about how angry he was with Pikachu, and that was all.

When they arrived at the hotel, Brock suggested that four people share a room, because the beds were king size, and the prices weren’t that inexpensive. Everyone agreed. Tracey and Brock got the keys, and sent everybody to his/her room.

Misty, Mimi, Sora and Kari would stay in the same room. In the room on their left, there was Matt, TK, Brock and Tracey, and on the room on their right, Ash, Tai, Izzy and Joe would stay.

Once they were settled, Brock went to the Pokémon Center, with Misty, for the sake of Nurse Joy. He had thought of taking Ash with them, too, but changed his mind when he saw Ash and Misty looking at each other as if they were enemies, while Ash was giving his pokéballs to Brock. Taking Tracey’s pokémon, too, and Pikachu, they headed for the Pokémon Center.

When they were gone, Ash closed the door, and sat on his bed. He sighed again. “Do you now understand what I mean?” he said to Izzy, Joe and Tai. “She’s so stubborn… Lucky she was in a good mood…”

“Good mood?” Tai asked.

“Yeah, she could have grabbed my collar and shaken me while yelling…”

“She’s a scalawag.” Tai spoke. “An arrogant, scrawny…”

“But…” Joe began. “You could have been more polite, too, Ash. She is a girl, and she’s tired of camping, she wants to stay in a nice place for a while. That’s not an unusual request.”

“What if she stayed at the Pokémon Center?” Tai answered instead of Ash. “She’s so spoiled.”

“Don’t be so tough, Tai.” Izzy told him. “Joe’s right. Mimi used to complain about staying in uncomfortable places, remember? She’s enduring many difficulties, tackling many problems just to travel with you, Ash. I mean, look, she’s even came to these islands leaving her family, her home…”

“It’s all because she wants her bike back.” Ash scowled.

“Do you really believe it? Who would do those things for a bike? Try to be gentler towards her, Ash. Wouldn’t you feel sorry if she left?”

“Personally, I wouldn’t.” Tai murmured.

Ash was looking at the floor. “I don’t know…” he said quietly. “I probably would…”

After sitting silently for a while, Tai got up and said: “I’m going to have a shower.” He went to the bathroom.

Ash quickly changed the subject, asked more questions about Digimon to Izzy and Joe, and their digimon.

After half an hour or so, Misty and Brock returned. Brock hadn’t said anything about her and Ash’s fight, because he was used to it. In the Pokémon Center, when he saw Nurse Joy, he had begun acting stupidly again, and now Misty was dragging him, holding his collar.

She took Brock up to his room, giving him no time to ask the waitress out. Matt opened the door, looked at them in surprise.

“Well...” Misty smiled. “He was drooling over Nurse Joy, so I had to drag him away immediately…”

“Oh, OK.” Matt answered. He let Brock come in.

Misty went to her room, which she shared with other girls. Mimi was having a bath, singing.

“How do you like the hotel?” she asked Sora and Kari.

“Very nice.” they replied in unison. “Very comfortable, and luxurious…”

“If only you hadn’t have had to fight with Ash to stay…” Kari added.

“Oh, never mind Ash.” Misty answered. “He always does this. He must have signed a contract or something saying he won’t agree with me… He likes staying here, too, believe me…”

“Why do you travel with him, if he never agrees with you, always makes you angry…” Sora began.

“He owes me a bike.” Misty said quickly.

Sora would continue, but just then Mimi came out of the bathroom. She was wearing a panicked expression. “Oh no!”

“What?” the others asked.

“Sora, we have nothing else to wear… And it’s very hot and I’ll evaporate in this dress and…”

“You’re right!”

“Don’t worry, girls. I can lend you something to wear for now, and we’ll go shopping, then…”

One hour later, they were all ready to go shopping.

“Will the boys come with us?” Kari asked.

Misty went and knocked on Ash’s room’s door, while Sora and Mimi went to call Matt, Tracey and Brock. All of them agreed to come.

Digimon heroes were surprised to see that pokémon world wasn’t different from the real world, except the animals of course. Joe was still a bit worried about being transferred to here, he couldn’t get rid of that anxiety. Considering he was always worried, it was not such a big deal. The others didn’t seem to care, they were just enjoying this unexpected journey.

Boys’ shopping didn’t last long, they bought what they needed and started waiting for girls. Only Brock and Pikachu (they had gone to the Pokémon Center and taken their pokémon back before) were helping girls choose.

“How is this, Pikachu?” Misty walked towards the mouse pokémon and turned around to show him the dress.

“Pika!” he answered, with stars in his eyes.

Three hours later, at dusk, finally, they got out of the shopping center.

“How do you find our new dresses?” Mimi asked the boys happily.

“Well…” Joe started.

“To tell the truth…” Tracey told.

“In fact…” Izzy said.

“They look…” Tai continued.

“Quite…”it was Ash.

“Eccentric.” Brock completed.

“Yeah, eccentric.” Matt agreed.

This was true. Girls were wearing those wrapped-around-your-body clothes, the clothes which are worn in Tahiti, completed with flower necklaces. They had also bought Hawaiian costumes, and bikinis. Boys were dressed in exotic clothes, too, Hawaiian shirts and shorts.

After a little argument between Ash and Misty, they decided that they wouldn’t be able to afford eating in the funky restaurant of the hotel they were staying, and went to a fast food restaurant before returning to hotel. There, they discussed what to do tomorrow.

“Let’s go to the gym, so I can challenge the leader and gain my last badge.” Ash suggested. As they hadn’t planned doing anything else, they accepted it. They also decided to go to the beach after the battle was over.

“Do you have any idea about the gym leader?” Ash asked Brock.

“A little. She had visited Professor Ivy once.”

“So, a girl?” Misty inquired.

“Yeah. Very beautiful…” Brock answered dreamily.

“How about her pokémon?” Ash excitedly asked.

“I don’t know. She had come to talk about the GS ball. However, she is quite a strong leader, they say…”

“OK. Let’s go, I need to get some sleep…”

They all returned to the hotel. It had been a tiring day, so they were all fast asleep.

So, how do you like this chapter? I know, nothing important happened, but I had to write this chapter. Team Rocket hasn’t showed up, right? Don’t worry, they soon will. Next chapter will be about Ash’s battle, and some more about digimon heroes… Thanks for reading…
