In the last chapter, Gary had come while Ash and Misty were having a fight and he had made a suggestion: he asked Misty to leave Ash and come with him instead. Misty had to answer now…

                     Ch 2- The Fight

“I mean…”  Misty stammered. She should have been mean, so nobody could understand her feelings. She looked at Ash and Brock for a while. She saw they were getting worried –yes, even Ash.

“Come on Misty, leave that loser… Come with me…” Gary insisted teasingly. Misty looked at her friends again and saw flames of anger forming in Ash’s eyes. Brock was getting worried, though he still thought it was a joke.

‘That’s enough’ Misty said to herself. She had been mean enough. She had seen her friends getting worried at least. If she continued, they might have let her leave with Gary.

“Chu…” Pikachu said as he looked curiously at Misty.

          “I… I mean… Gary, I’m sorry, I don...”

“NO, SHE CANNOT COME WITH YOU, YOU ARROGANT!!!!!” shouted Ash all of a sudden. While saying this, he had jumped in front of Misty and opened his arms protectively in front of her.

“ASH?!!” said Misty and Brock in unison.

“Ha, I knew…” Gary muttered.

Ash blushed when he caught himself. He tried to cover up what he had said.

“I mean… She doesn’t want to travel with such a pedant like you, Gary… Uhm… (blush) Do you Misty?..”

Misty blushed, too. ‘He wants me to stay…’ she thought. ‘Does he really care for me?..’

          “Misty…”

“Uh… Yeah… Yes, Ash is right… I don’t…” She suddenly picked herself up and managed to return to her fierce, bad-tempered girl mode. “WHO WANTS TO TRAVEL WITH SUCH A BIG HEADED, STUPID RAT ANYWAY!!!” she shouted.  *C’mon everybody, it was obvious that she would stay. Not such an exciting part I guess… ^_^*

This time it was Ash’s turn to blush and Brock and Pikachu’s to get surprised.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   “Huh, that’s completely your problem, then.” answered Gary in his snob tone.

“Why on earth you asked me to come with you, then?” asked Misty.

“Your decision.” said Gary again.  “C’mon a girl, let’s go. How is it, Ash? I’ve made you angry, huh?”

 Ash blushed.

Gary got in his car and drove away.

“Oh girls…” Brock drooled.

Ash couldn’t look at or talk to Misty. Instead, he looked at Gary who was far away now and swore:

“That arrogant, snob, big headed, dense…”

“Pikapi pi chu (never mind, he doesn’t worth this)” said Pikachu to cheer his trainer up.

At that moment, there was a nudge in Misty’s bag.

“Huh? Oh, Togepi…” murmuring, Misty opened her bag.

          “Prii!!! (Mommy!)”

          “Good afternoon Togepi!”

“Priii… Toge toge pi pri? (To you too. Where are we know?)”

“We’re going to Violet City.” she answered. And she began talking louder: “Aren’t we, Ash?”

Ash, who was looking after Gary turned to them.

“And we’re going my way.” Misty continued.

Ash sighed and nodded. Misty was right again. For the first time, Ash seriously doubted about his sense of direction. ^-^

Now they had begun walking, they were walking through the forest.

“Pri. Toge toge? (Nice road, isn’t it mommy?)” Togepi clapped its hands.

“Yes Togepi. But if only there weren’t so much bugs… Hey Brock, what are you thinking about?”

Nobody had noticed Brock, who had been quite thoughtful and silent since Gary was gone.

“Girls are gone again.”  he answered sadly. “Oh, I don’t even have a girlfriend!” he continued frantically. “Girls…”

“No problem.” said Misty. “You have a very attractive, cute, beautiful girl with you already---“

“What?” Brock interrupted. He thought for a minute. “No, no. You can’t be talking about Jessie, are you?”

“Jessie?” Misty stopped. “Actually, I’m not talking about her. She is closer to you than Jessie is.”

“Oh, you mean Togepi?” Brock continued while looking around.

“It’s not her, either. But you’re close.”  Misty answered, blushing.

“Oh, are you talking about Pikachu? But it is a boy…”

          “No, no, closer, closer…”

          “What- You mean Ash?”

“NO YOU IDIOT!!!” shouted Misty while hitting him with her mallet. Brock fell down.

“What’s going on?” “Pika?” interrupted Ash and Pikachu who heard their names being mentioned.

“Oww! It hurts!” Brock complained. Then he began to explain. “She got angry because I couldn’t guess the cute girl around me. Owww!!!!! You have an idea Ash?”

“Who needs an idea? Of course she’s talking about Nurse Joy or Officer Jenny.” answered Ash stupidly.

          BANG!!!!!!!

The next second, Ash was on the ground, near Brock.

          “Oww, my head!”

“Misty! Who’s that girl?” asked Brock impatiently.

“Who else could it be you idiots!!!! ME!!!!!”

“You???” said Ash and Brock in unison.

By the way, Ash and Misty were still trying to avoid looking at each other. They weren’t looking at each other since  Ash had protected Misty against Gary. Ash very rarely showed Misty that he wanted her around—and that had been one of those rare moments.

“Yeah, me!! Anyway, as you are that dense, then… C’mon, let’s go anyway.” muttered Misty who was a bit disappointed.

They got walking again.

Ash was thoughtful.

“Pika pi chu? (Why are you so thoughtful Ash?)” asked Pikachu quietly.

“Oh, nothing. Just thinking about something…”

“(You did a good thing by saying Gary that he was such an arrogant. And by not letting Misty go, too…)” Pikachu was saying when Ash interrupted.

“Yeah!”

“Pi? (What?)”

“I mean… Ehm…”

Misty, who was quite bored of staying silent for a long time came near them when she saw them talking.

“How do you do, gentlemen?”

Nobody answered. They walked some more. Why was Ash behaving so distant? Misty started talking again, hoping Ash would treat her friendly.

“So, Ash… You… Did you really want me to stay? I mean, when Gary…”

“NO!!” Ash interrupted. Then he swore silently at what he said.

“What ‘NO’?” Misty’s voice got colder.

“That staying and leaving stuff…”

“What? Didn’t you want me to stay? You did, indeed.”  Misty was wearing her sarcastic expression now.

You did want to stay with me.”

“Well?” Misty giggled. “How could you know I didn’t want to go with Gary?”

“Would you go?”

Misty felt Ash had got worried. Again, sarcastically:

“Well, maybe…”

Maybe? Why did you agree on what I said, then?” Ash was confused now.

“Not to make you ashamed in front of all these people.”

“Ashamed?”

“Yeah. I mean, Gary would have teased you, then.”

‘Oh, here we go again.’ thought Brock while following.

Ash: “You could have gone if you wanted, but you didn’t.”

Misty: “Because you wanted me to stay.”

A: “No, I just helped you reply.”

M: “How can you know I thought so?”

“Chill, guys.” Brock interrupted.

A/M: “MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS BROCK!!!” and they pulled him aside.

A: “Don’t you think so?”

M: “Mind your own business, Ash!”

A: “Why don’t you reply?”

M: “Why don’t you accept this Ash; you don’t want me to go!!!”

*Misty looks as if she’s forgotten about ‘her bike’.*

A: “Why wouldn’t I want you to leave?”

M: “You don’t, because you like having me around.” said Misty simply.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. And you need me. You need my sense of direction at least…”

“Huh.”

“And my friendship…”

“Friendship?” Ash asked teasingly, but inside he was thinking ‘No, no, how could she just know what I think…’    He then picked himself up.

“NO!” he shouted. “I DON’T NEED YOU!!”

“Yes, you do!”

“No, I don’t!”

“Yes!”

“No!”

“Guys, calm down!”

“Pika!”

“Prii…”

*Oh, too much conversation*

“I don’t. You are here with me, or you are not, I don’t care. I’m on my journey to become a Pokémon Master and my journey wouldn’t be ruined if you weren’t here. You’re just a scalawag who is following me around for her wrecked bike!!!!”

“And you are a fool who hasn’t paid for the damage he made yet!”

“Guys…”

“MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS BROCK!!!”

By the way, no one had noticed they were being followed.

“Where are they going now?”

“To Violet City.”

“And what are they doing now?”

“Looks as if they’re arguing.”

“Let’s get closer.”

And so, Jessie, James and Meowth got closer in order to see what was going on. It didn’t take them long to find out Ash and Misty were fighting as usual.

“God, don’t they know anything except fighting?”

…“All you do is to complain and jangle my nerves.”

“And all you do is to do reckless and stupid things.”

“Stupid?”

“Guys, enough…”

“SHUT UP BROCK!!!!!”  *Poor Brock*

“Look at me Misty, you’ve begun getting on my nerves.”

“So do you.

Suddenly Brock felt this fight was like no others. In other quarrels, they wouldn’t intend to hurt each other; even if they shouted, they would know when to stop. And they’d know that whatever they said, there was a nice friendship behind all those words—at least Brock thought so. ‘No, looks as if Ash’s going to say something bad again!’ he thought. ‘And this time, the mallet won’t be the solution…’

          “You know what Misty?”

          “What, Ashy Boy?”

          “You… you… are…”

          “Yes, I am…”

That was it.  Misty’s sarcastic tone and expressions took all of Ash’s patience away.  *Did he have any, anyway?*

          “You’re such an idiot!”

“And I thought you’d say something new…” said Misty, smiling teasingly again. ‘That is enough’ she thought. She didn’t want to fight anymore today. She had got Ash talking to her anyway. She looked at Ash to stop fighting, but he didn’t look as if he wanted to stop.

     “Ash, calm down…” whispered Brock.

“I can’t Brock, that’s enough!” he yelled. “As well as being stupid, Misty, you’re a trouble-maker! You are always complaining and reminding me about your bike, but I don’t like it!!”

“You…”said Misty softly. She also felt that Ash was going to say something bad, so she was trying to finish the fight. For the first time Misty was trying not to fight.

“I’m not finished!”

“Ash, calm down, you can’t treat Misty like that!” whispered Brock more coldly.

“Pi pikachu” agreed Pikachu.

Ash was not able to hear them, he was so angry.

“I don’t need you in any way. I don’t care. You mean nothing, but a trouble…” Somewhere inside, he was begging Misty not to take him seriously. Why was he shouting then? Because he was tired?.. Or stressed?.. Or…

“I’m fed up with you Misty. I wish I had enough money that I could pay you back for your stupid bike and could get rid of you!! Why don’t you leave me alone now? I wish I had kept my mouth shut and let you go with Gary, if you really wanted of course…” In these last words, there was a kind of sadness, but Misty couldn’t hear it.

She was shocked. All that time… And Ash was not only bored of her, but also hated her! She meant nothing to him!

Her eyes watered. She looked at Ash to see if he said these just because he was angry or he really meant these. That was enough. He was serious. She had never seen him look so hatred before. He didn’t want her and now he was dismissing her. Sooner or later this would happen anyway.

She thought ‘I looked for it’, though. It was her who started the subject. All she wanted was to quarrel a little, like they always did, and that was all. She didn’t expect this.

“ASH!!!!!!” Brock yelled finally.  *Yes, he really did this, he shouted, he got angry!!!*  “You idiot! How dare you could say such things to a friend?!!”  It was the first time Brock was really angry with his friends.

“You… You’re serious…” Misty could say softly. She was trying her best not to cry.

Ash didn’t answer, but lowered his head.

That was too much for Misty. Nobody could break her heart, or insult her and this time her mallet wouldn’t solve the problem. She had to do something to save her pride.

“You fool…” she shouted at him, her voice nearly shaking. She looked at Ash for a while.

‘No, I’ve made her cry…’ Ash thought. Misty was still putting up a fight not to let her tears go down.

She suddenly picked herself up, and took her bag which had fallen onto the ground. Togepi jumped in her arms.

“Misty… Never mind.” said Brock who had calmed down. He darted an angry look at Ash and he continued, “He doesn’t know what he is saying, he is furious now…”

“No!” snapped Misty with her coldest and most emotionless expression. “If you didn’t want me, you could have told it more politely, Ash Ketchum! And sooner of course. Anyway, at least I won’t bug you anymore from now on. Good luck to you. Hope you’ll be a good Pokémon master, Ash, and you a good breeder, Brock. I won’t be with you anymore.”

“What do you mean?” asked Brock, who knew very well what she said in fact.

“It’s clear. I can’t stand that much insults. I’ll continue on my own from now on. Don’t ever think of coming with me, Brock, stay with Ash. Goodbye.”

“Misty!/Pika!” shouted Brock and Pikachu in unison. Togepi was surprised.

Ash, who hadn’t thought of the possibility that Misty could ever leave, felt very strange. Yet, he shouted “Go, then!” Inside he thought ‘I won’t care. I won’t care…’

“Good. Bye.” Misty answered hardly preventing her voice shaking.

          “But Misty…”

          “No Brock. Goodbye!”

She then turned away and began running. She wasn’t holding her tears back anymore.

“That stupid twerp really deserved it this time.” commented Jessie.

“No! The girl didn’t know where to stop.” opposed James.

“Really? How dare he could talk to a girl like this?”

“Just like this. Ash is right.”

“No, Misty’s right.”

“Ash!”

“Misty!”

“Ash!”

“Misty!”

“Hey, shut up!” Meowth scratched both Jessie and James.

Jessie and James stopped and looked at each other. Suddenly they both remembered the times they had been through together, and their friendship.

“Oh, James!” said Jessie and hugged James.

“Oh, Jessica!” James said and returned the hug.

“James, I’m sorry, let’s just don’t have that bad fights…”

“Yes, Jess…”

“Oh, it is just so touchy!” Meowth sobbed and hugged both of them.

And they all began crying anime style.

Well, how do you like the story so far? I know, that fighting part is common in all stories, but I need to have such a part for the next chapters. Please send me feedbacks.

And ha ha! Looks as if Misty is really leaving this time. (I’m so cruel!)

To be continued… Wait for the next chapter!
