Kaci’s Story

Chapter 12

Unfinished Wish

Misty sat alone on the porch outside, gazing at the stars overhead. She was the only on still awake, even Ash having gone to bed, though reluctantly. She wished…

“Hello Misty,” a boy said from behind her. Misty nearly had a heart attack. For sure that wasn’t what she was about to wish.

“Oh! Hi Bill. Why are you still up?”

“I could ask you the same thing. I came to get a glass of water. But I found something better.” Misty winced, but chose to ignore the last comment.

“I couldn’t sleep. So I came out here.”

“An angel under the moonlight.”

“Look, Bill? I’m sorry, but I already like someone else. So could you please leave me alone?” she asked, annoyed.

“Of course. But I think I shall go and get that water,” he said, slipping through the screen door. Misty could hear him opening things up inside, and heard water sloshing into a cup, so she turned her attention back to the sky.

Finally. He got so annoying! Almost like Rudy but worse. Although I didn’t find Rudy annoying back then. But I’m just glad he agreed to leave me alone. I wish…

But the thought was never finished, interrupted by a sudden scream, which was quickly stifled but easily recognizable. Misty leapt up and ran inside, one thought in her mind. “Kaci!”
