Part Three Author's note: Here's part three, if you managed to get through part one and actually read part two, you're probably looking forward to this part. Thanks again to Aaliyah and Topaz. This wouldn't be up and posted without them. You should really check out their fics. Some of the best ever made. Yes Yes. I'm sucking up but I was threatened with death... Jewel "How long have we been walking already?" I whined, my feet dragging against dirt path. "Um," Marlix scrutinized the map of Johto he was holding, turning it upside, sideways and upside down again. "Uh..." "That's the last time you get to be navigator." Kalika groaned. "Give me the map, we should have arrived at Violet City an hour ago!" Before he could protest, she snatched the map from Marlix's grasp, eyeing the piece of creased paper with contempt. I looked at my watch, eight-thirty a.m. We'd been traveling for more than three hours; my leg muscles ached from so much exercise. It's not that I wasn't fit; it's just that I was not use to walking such long distances. I smoothed back my raven black hair, flicking a red strand from my eyes. It was an unusually hot morning, the sun boring mercilessly down on us from a clear blue sky. I was wearing the jeans Marlix had bought me the day before and a white shirt with a red fire ball printed on the front. My backpack weighed lightly on my shoulders, basically empty apart from some clothes, a sleeping bag I'd bought earlier and a notebook. Singe sat on his usual perch on Marlix's shoulder watching a black and blue butterfree flutter past his head. "Aha!" Kalika cried triumphantly, "We took a wrong turn a couple of miles ago!" "No kidding." I muttered, stopping to rest under the shade of one of the oak trees lining the dirt path. "But, if we continue down this path, we'll arrive at the ruins of that Alphi-Iad place, then we can take a left turn from there and be at Violet," Kalika mused. I perked up at the mention of the ruins, "Hey, do you mind if we rest there for a while? Come on Kalika, you're early anyway; I just wanna check something out. I can? Good." Without waiting for a reply I marched down the path, newfound strength flooding my body. If I could maybe ask some of the Guides about the legend of the Wing... I'd already contemplated on taking up the Teuton job offer, but I wasn't too sure now, since we'd burnt down their hideaway, and Marlix had shot one of their men. But it seemed like a good idea to find out some more information, who knew when it might come in handy? I didn't bother to look behind me to see if the two trainers were following me, they'd better be. We journeyed for about an hour till we finally came across an opening of trees. Brushing the branches away, we found ourselves looking down into a beautiful ancient valley. Arcane ruins dotted the landscape, moss and vines growing amongst the old stonework. There was a peaceful timeless about this place that took my breath away. Marlix gave a low whistle, "Neat." "Hey! This place is pretty cool!" Kalika cried. Her voice echoed across the hills, "There's gotta be loads of new pokemon here!" Before I could stop her, she began running recklessly down the slope, sending rocks and dirt skidding behind her. "Careful! You might - " "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!" "...trip." I finished, wincing as I watched her tumble head over heels to the bottom. Her limbs flailing about, desperately trying to grab onto something. The dust began to settle as she landed painfully, her clothes covered with dirt and stained with grass. "Its okay... I'm alright." She croaked weakly. I headed down, careful not to make the same mistake she did. Marlix, Singe and I helped her to her feet. Other than the humiliation and the damage to her pride, she was fine. Suffering only minor cuts and bruises. I stared about at the towering buildings, decorated with intricate patterns, which could only be seen faintly as they had almost worn away over time. How old was this place? How long ago did these people disappear? "Almost a thousand years." I answered my own question, "And these people were back." But why? "Let's go exploring," the little charmander suggested, "They do that in the movies all the time." I nodded absently, walking over to an interesting stone building; something had been carved on it yet it could hardly be seen due to wind erosion and the effects of age. My fingers glided over the stonework. The texture of the wall was rough and hard, and I stopped as my hand came across a large panel with an amazing design of a large winged pokemon carved into it. "What's that?" I whispered, "I have never seen - Oh my dear lord!" CREEEEEEK! The wall suddenly slid away and a low rolling grumble filled the air as stone upon stone grinded together. I found myself staring deep into the shadowy depths of a winding dank corridor. "Cool effects." Marlix murmured, "I almost feel like I'm in a movie." "Where does it lead to?" Kalika asked curiously, peering over my shoulder. Suddenly a piecing GRAOOOORR!!!! Broke the atmosphere and something dark and huge leapt at me, ramming me to the ground! I landed hard, my elbow smacking into the dirt sending a sharp pain up my arm. I screamed fending off the animal with a flurry of panicked strikes. Scratching out at anything I could, my heart beating wildly in my chest. "Hey hey hey!!! Just watch it there will you? I think I'd still like to keep an eye!" Huh? The weight lifted off me and I was abruptly yanked to my feet. "Hi, I'm Paul, nice to meetcha." I gulped. A six-foot tall hairy black werewolf stood in front of me, stretching out a paw. His unruly black fur fluttering in the wind. Intelligent calculating eyes stared at me in curiosity. Marlix's mouth dropped open. Kalika managed a startled squeak before she regained her composure, "Awesome! Stay still while I capture you!" "Meaning stop right there. I want to beat you to a bloody pulp so you are on the verge of death so I can absorb you into a beam of red light and cram you into a pocket sized red and white tennis ball." The huge animal translated bluntly. Marlix "Hey! Hello! Singe fry her!" The little guy listened to me and burnt Jewel's finger. She jumped up screaming, "Werewolf!" Uh, ok someone's been popping to many crazy pills. "What werewolf?" Kalika asked picking Jewel up from the floor. "There was a werewolf named Paul and you were going to catch him and, and..." "Hey Kalika you know there's an asylum in Goldenrod?" I pointed out. "Its ok Jewel you just fell down this hole and hit your head." At this I put my cd player on and tuned it to the radio. "Hey this sounds like porno music!" I said slightly tapping my foot. "What's porno?" Singe asked from my shoulder. "I'll show you when we get to the next hotel. I think we'll both like that. The girls'll watch it with us." "Cool!" He smiled. I turned to see their stone-cold faces. "Heh-heh. Nice place down here ain't it?" I sweat dropped. "We better get moving! So that I could beat Faulkner and truly be the..." "Yeh Yeh everyone knows. The True Flying master. I could've sworn there was a werewolf. Well since we're here. We might as well look around." She started walking through the ancient ruins. It was dark, very dark. The only light was coming from the hole we fell through and of course Singe's tail. This was soooooooo boring. However Jewel who seemed to bounce around at every stupid rock was fun to watch. Especially the bouncing... "Ow!" I said rubbing my cheek and looking at Kalika. "I saw where your eyes were... pervert." Now this was really boring. I kept walking not watching where I was going. "Flare!" A small thing screamed grabbing his tail. Singe started laughing. "He cursed you out good, man!" "Go Sear!" I screamed releasing my Cyndaquil. It charged the whining Flareon. Sear smashed his head into the Flareon. "Ok now Singe go jump him!" Singe leapt off my shoulder and proceeded to beat the Flareon up. "Hey! That's cheating Marlix! You're double-teaming him." Kalika screamed at me. "Goodie two shoe" I said throwing one of the five pokeballs Elm gave me at Flareon. It hit him and sucked him up. It shook two times before it went PING. "Yeh we caught something!" Singe, Sear and I jumped up. "I should report you to the League!" Kalika yelled obviously infuriated by the fact that I in my first two days had caught three pokemon without the help of my daddy. "I wouldn't do that if I were you!" I said shaking my index finger back and forth. "Why not?" "A dark cave; poor little Kalika couldn't make the trip. Drops dead due to exhaustion. I can see the headline now. Hey Jewel can I get another translator for Flareon." She handed me one and I threw Flareon out. I put his translator on. "Cheap shot!" "Don't worry man! Women dig pokemon that take two pokemon on at the same time!" "Really!" he asked, Kalika ran to him. "Don't believe him Flareon!" "Look," I pointed at Kalika, "the women are already on you!" "Oh snap you're right! But I don't want this one I want that one!" he said pointed at Jewel. "That one's mine!" I said giving him a death stare. "What was that?" "Huh! ...Oh nothing Jewel. So what's your name?" I asked expecting to hear Blaze or some other crap like that. "Its Bob!" "Awesome!" I yelled, "Do you know Bob spelled backwards is Bob!" "I know it's so cool!" Bob smiled. Singe counted his fingers and screamed. "Oh shit you're right!" "Sweet!" Sear piped in. I saw the girls sigh and shake their heads. "Morons..." I heard one of them mutter. I left Bob (that name is so cool) and Sear out and they added to Singe's light. We could see much better. We found out we weren't walking on a rocky terrain but in fact it was a path. We followed it. It led us to an opening. I saw Kalika's eyes open wide. "We're here! We're here! It's Violet City and there's the Gym. Johto here I come." "What a cornball. You're a cornball." I told her. "No I'm a Master." "Cornball..." I whispered Kalika That goddamn city kid! I should have pounded him. I was a Master and will be the greatest that ever lived! I should have blasted him with Pulsar or offer her that lizard as an appetizer! No matter, the Johto League was mine for the taking! I'd show Faulkner who was boss! Ha, him a flying Master! I'd whip him into shape and show him! "What are you muttering about now, Kal?" Cooee said from my shoulder. "Nothing!" I growled, grinding my teeth. How could they have so little faith in me? I should have Maelstrom bolt him into oblivion! I even heard him say I wore contacts; I should have Artemis freeze him into an ice sculpture! Up ahead, Jewel and Marlix were chatting about their conquer of the League. Bah! Jewel didn't even have a Pokemon! After another half hour of grumbling, we had reached the arch that lead to Violet. "Haha! I'm going to-" "Yeah yeah, we get the idea," smirked the lizard. That's it! I'm going to- With a defeated sigh, I pushed past them and stalked through the arch, Cooee squawking indignant. * * * * "I'm hungry!" the lizard moaned from behind me somewhere. "You're always hungry. And it's always me forking over the cash to pay for it!" Marlix snorted. I had pushed us on to the PokeCenter, otherwise they both would have been cruising the city. What would they do with out me? "Kalika Soarhier (soar higher), your Pokemon are ready!" chirped that cheery Nurse Joy. I hate Nurse Joy's. How can you be happy, all the time! "You have quite a collection! I only meet beginning trainers here and they all have the same thing!" That changed everything. Flattery can get you everywhere! "Thanks," I beamed. But before I could be flattered any more. Marlix pushed me aside and plunked his three Pokeballs down. He had some how managed to get Singe into his Pokeball. More than likely with the promise of food. Bob, Singe, Sear and Marlix had babbled on and on about assorted acronyms, they're favorite being Girafarig. Though Marlix insisted Bob was the best. Why was I here again? Certainly wasn't for the intelligent conversation. Suddenly an alarm shrieked through the PokeCenter. I jumped a mile high, Jewel, clutched her ears moaning and Marlix screamed to shut it up. "Ohnononononono!" Nurse Joy cried hysterical. She darted around the corner from sight and the alarm stopped but still left a ringing in my ear but then it started again. "WHAT THE BLOODY HELL WAS THAT!" I screeched. "Ohnononononono! He's escaped again! Call the police! Simular has escaped!" "Who's Simular?" Jewel piped. "Simular is a mischievous Pokemon! Oh no! He's loose!" "Don't worry Nurse Joy! We'll find him if it's the last thing I ever do," Marc said, sidling up to her side with a sly look on his face. I groaned disgusted. "It could be the last thing you ever do!" Singe Stupid Ball! He owed me at least a Salisbury! Screw that! He owed me a T-bone, a big 24-ounce one. I would have started counting tiles but there were no freaking tiles in this goddamn ball. The ball started to shake and then I saw the happiest thing in my life- Light! The joy only lasted a second. "What the hell is that awful sound?" I screamed. I saw Marlix he beckoned me to follow him. "What the hell is going on?" "Some Simular thing is on the loose and everyone is freaking out. So basically Kalika wants to catch it where as Jewel wants to study it." "You got Sear and Bob?" "Yeah they're right here." He said tapping the two pokeballs attached to his black belt. The evil woman came running toward us. I think she is the person called Nurse Joy, but anyone who tries to stick a needle up your butt during a check-up is evil. I burnt her real good... "Oh my goodness! Simular has reached Sprout Tower and your friend is using an Articuno to try to stop it! If that battle continues they'll knock the swaying base of the tower down and that will kill all the tourists and people trapped in there!" I saw Marlix take the watch he called a Rolex off and put it in his small gym bag. He brushed a strand from his eye and calmly got up from his kneeling position. He represented the image of collectiveness and of a person you could trust in a situation like this. Too bad he had to open his damn mouth. "I mean how the hell do you expect me to stop Kalika when I don't know what a freaking Simular is!" "A Simular is the newly found evolution of Ditto. No one knows what it exactly looks like. It can look like anything it wants. Elm says that a Simular will find a shape it likes and stay with that form till battle, but this Simular is different. He was one of Team Rocket's experiments before they got disbanded. You can now see his resentment of humans." "Oh, that's fine and dandy," Marlix said kindly then, "but that doesn't help me one freaking bit!" he screamed. I climbed up his leg and jacket till I reached his shoulder. He took my jacket out of his bag and I put it on and left the Pokecenter. It was becoming winter and the leaves of the trees had already fallen off. I stared at my breath, visible in the cold. It started snowing... No it didn't! That was Kalika's Articuno's Blizzard attack! I saw the side of Sprout Tower turn to ice and realized Joy was right. The ice started to crack. If Kalika continued the tourist industry would be very angry at the lost of Sprout Tower. Marlix always filled with bright ideas took initiative. He charged Kalika. Her arm was raised yelling an order to Articuno. He tackled her. He got his head under her armpit and drove his shoulder in her ribs. Her order was cut-off in mid sentence. At impact she would have flew a few feet away but Marlix held her and drove her down. Her head bounced off the dirt road and the whiplash was so harsh I hurt just watching it. Articuno not knowing what to do was taken down by a Zapdos, which I realized had to be Simular. Articuno fell to the ground just like its master with a giant thud. In the confusion however all the people had gotten out of the Tower. Jewel came running over panic on her face. "What the hell did you do?" she screamed at Marlix. "I saved the people from Simular and Kalika." He responded, "Their lives are more important than that stupid tower!" "But who is going to stop Simular now?" "Oops didn't think about that." The Simular/Zapdos disappeared into the hole, changing form but not showing us his true self, in the Tower. A middle-aged woman came running toward the Tower. "My baby! I left him in there! I thought he was with me!" Marlix looked at Jewel in pure exasperation. "Looks like we're going in hot-shot." She searched the unconscious Kalika's pockets till she found what she wanted. A purple pokeball, they ran into the building with me hot on their trail. How do I get myself into these things? Jewel If I wasn't going to be able to finish my studies on the Alpha-Iad civilization I would have to do something to make money and that meant I wouldn't be dependent on Marlix. And the only way to do that was to get a pokemon and Simular was the one for me. I held onto the Masterball that Kalika was given for winning the Orange leagues. She didn't need it. She had a team of most of the legendary birds and under the circumstances I'm sure she rather prefer me save the Sprout Tower. Marlix ran after me and soon passed me thanks to his long legs. There were a lot of floors in the Sprout Tower and no elevator. I hoped that the kid was on one of the lower floors. Marlix yelled after me. I was halfway up the second stairwell when I saw him come running down. "Run!" he screamed grabbing my arm and pulling me. Then I saw why he was running; a giant Rhydon came charging down the stairs. Singe who had just made it up the first stairwell thanks to his small legs saw the Rhydon, screamed, and ran back down the stairs. Marlix pulled out his pokedex, which I didn't know he even had and point it at the Rhydon. "Simular: normal type. Evolved from: Ditto: A Simular can take any shape or form it has seen. However in order to catch a Simular it must be caught in its normal state not a transformation, otherwise you will catch it in the form it has chosen." "What?" I screamed unbelievably. How would I be able to catch a Simular if I didn't know what it normally looked like? Suddenly Marlix stopped. "Hey Jewel use your Croconaw!" He said looking at me. "What... ow." I said rubbing my side where he had elbowed it. "Shut-uppppppp." He hissed. Then I looked at the Simular. It was no longer a Rhydon but a silver, transparent thing that changed into what looked like a small bunny that stood on two legs. The bunny then changed back into the silver thing and took the form of a Jolteon. "There it is! The bunny is its normal form! It seems to get tired after transformations! Look how it's panting. Come on Bob let's finish this!" The Flareon came out with a happy bark, "Take down!" Marlix yelled. I see Marlix was doing his homework on training and on his common sense as I now saw what he had seen. The Simular/Jolteon was tired and when it used its Pin Needle attack Marlix called for the use of Agility. Bob easily dodged the attack and hit the mark with his Take down attack. Then I saw Simular change into the silver form again. It was probably going to change into a water type pokemon. I quickly pulled out the master ball and my arm tensed. I was never good at throwing. I was the proverbial girl in 'you throw like a girl'. I saw the bunny shape and pulled back my arm. I let the ball fly and it barely tapped the Simular's small paw. It got sucked in and didn't even shake. PING "Yes!" I screamed jumping up. "Help me!!!!!!" Marlix ran after the sound of the boy's voice with Singe and Bob hot on his heels. I picked up the purple ball and ran after them. I screamed when I saw the boy. He was surrounded by Gas... Gastlys. And I was always partial to ghost type pokemon. I saw Marlix run toward the boy. He had the same determined face he had on whenever he did something worth doing. He released Sear. "All of you Flamethrower at once!" He said to his three pokemon. As the fire began to well in their throats he jumped between the circles of Gastly. He pulled his leather jacket over his head and pulled the boy close to him. The Flamethrowers were released. There was a billow of smoke and after it had cleared I looked at the wreckage. The groups of Gastly were gone, most likely fainted, and there was a bare-chested Marlix holding the unharmed boy. He slowly got up. "That's the second damn jacket! Goddamnit! And you," he said looking at me, " stop staring at my gorgeous body." He smirked. "I know you want to touch it and all but if I'm gonna be naked its only fair if you're naked, too." I laughed and hugged him. A wobbly Gastly floated by. He tossed me one of his pokeballs and winked at me. I smiled again and threw it at the Gastly. The ball shook twice and stopped. I picked it up. We headed out when we saw the figure in the stairwell. Then I saw the symbol on his jacket. "Not another one of you damn Teutonic knights!" Marlix sighed. He laughed, "You two know to much, and this is the perfect set-up. While you were playing hero I rigged this place up with bombs. I'll see you around, oh wait scratch that. That's not possible!" He laughed again and walked down the stairwell. Marlix ran after him. Suddenly an explosion went off and the doorframe collapsed. A piece of shrapnel must of hit his left arm. It wasn't deep but it did draw blood. I ripped a piece of my white t-shirt off making it a tank top and tied it around his arm. "How are we going to get down?" the boy asked starting to cry, "I don't wanna die." "The hole that Simular made we can make the jump! We may lose a few limbs but we may live." "May?" Singe uttered. We ran to what seemed like the sixth floor. Marlix slowly walked to the hole in the tower. He made the sign of the cross said a small prayer and jumped. "Marlix!" I yelled, and then I saw him come back up, "Marlix?" I asked. Singe smiled and yelled, "Artemis!" I smiled at seeing the Articuno. Marlix recalled Bob and Sear. The rest of us 'boarded' Artemis. He began to fly down when the explosions went off. The blast sent him spiralling. CRACK "Artemis!" Marlix yelled getting off the large bird, "Your wing..." he said looking at the wing that should have never bended that way. I looked up at the Tower to see it miraculously still standing. The Teutonic knight didn't put the bomb on the swaying beam. What an idiot? Well in this case it was good he was a millennia old. The fire fighters started to swarm in. I picked Artemis's pokeball from Kalika's unconscious form and recalled him. The mother of the boy came running over. "Oh Matthew, thank goodness your safe." She looked at Marlix, "Please take this as a token of my appreciation. I noticed you like fire pokemon so I hope you enjoy this Growlithe." I took the translator out already knowing Marlix would ask for it. "Thanks, but can we go inside. It's freezing out here." "Haha, see Marlix I still have my cosy leather jacket." "Don't make me kick your ass Singe." The lizard laughed and we walked into the Pokecenter. Marlix retrieved his bag and though sad he had lost his Superman shirt he put on a shirt that had an interlocking NY symbol on the side. I asked what it was and he said it was the Yankees' logo or whatever the Yankees are. He sighed. We went to get a room from Nurse Joy. "Oh hello. Your friend suffered a mild concussion but she should be awake by tomorrow morning. As for her Articuno... he won't be flying for at least a month." We took the room key and went to our room. Marlix put the TV on and started watching wrestling. He released all his pokemon and they watched TV with him. "Hey Growlithe what's your name?" "I don't know... I never had one." Just then a wrestler named Rob Van Dam walked out. He flexed his muscles and with his thumbs pointed at himself three times in sync with the crowd's chants of "RVD!" "Hey I know, " Marlix perked up, "I'll call you RVD!" he said imitating the wrestler's movements. "Yay!" the puppy squealed. The other pokemon smiled. "Listen," I said, "I hate to break the male bonding but we should go to sleep if we're going to see Kalika in the morning." "Do you really want to see Kalika?" Marlix stared at me. "What do you mean?" I asked. "Think about it. I gave her a concussion. You stole her masterball and we broke her Articuno's wing. Now do you really want to see Kalika?" We both gulped. Kalika "YOU'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" "Please don't hurt me!" I had Marlix, Jewel, and that goddamned Singe trapped in the corner of our room, fists raised. "You knock me unconscious, steal a Masterball worth more than your measly lives and then break my favorite Pokemon's wing so she won't be able to battle for a goddamned month! If you get out of here alive you owe me BIG!" The lizard opened his mouth, preparing for a flamethrower. Before he could even think it, I snatched it closed with my hand. "You want to piss me off further?" Singe shook his head, still in my grasp. "Good!" I let it go and turned on my heel and stalked out. My head throbbed but I had to get out of this PokeCenter before I hurt someone. I flopped onto a chair and released Artemis. "Hey girl." She cooed, looking depressed. Not only couldn't she fly but I also had to remove her translator because the electric fields interfered with the mending process. "Don't worry, I got em," With a sigh, I recalled her and just sat with my head in my hands. "Ahem?" "What do you want Marlix?" I growled. "We, um, are going to the Gym now?" he said in a tiny voice keeping his distance. "Good, I've got my Pokemon ready, you better have yours." "I'm not battling until I get my Super Deluxe KFC Combo!" Singe growled. He sat in the door of the gym, not moving like a spoiled child. "Don't make me kick your ass!" Marlix yelled. "You think I'm afraid of you?!" Singe yelled back. "Fine, I'll give you to Kalika's Moltres. She likes Charmander." Marlix sneered with an evil grin. There are times when I just wonder what goes on in that little brain of his. Maybe he should donate it to science.... "I want my Deluxe!" "Move it or lose it lizard, come on Marlix, you have three other Pokemon, what do you need him for?" I said in a controlled voice, tapping my foot. "Forget it, Kalika." Jewel muttered. She hitched her thumb towards the elevator. I nodded, and instantly regretted it, following her in. She pushed the button for the top floor and that damn elevator music burst into a happy tune. After two minutes of hell we reached the top floor. There was Faulkner, waiting for us at the other end of the field. I couldn't help but sneer that this 19 year old was the best in Johto. "Welcome to the Violet Town Gym. I'm Faulkner the Gym leader. Should you defeat me you will earn the Zephyr Badge. Who will challenge me first?" "Me," I grinned confidently. Faulkner raised his eyebrows. "Kalika Soarhier? Master of the Orange Islands? I've been looking for a challenge." "Quit yappin, start battling." I said, waving away his compliments, though I secretly glowed. They knew who I was! "It will be a two on two battle, time limit, go!" Faulkner tossed a Pokeball into the air. A red bolt flew and manifested into a Murkrow. I snorted that he thought so little of me. "Fine, fine. Go Tyce." The Lugia craned his neck to look around. It was a relatively small Lugia, not much bigger then me but I knew he could take on this Murkrow with ease. "Let start with an Aeroblast," I yawned. The pressurized blast of wind toppled the Murkrow on the first hit. It frantically beat its wings to get above them but it was trapped. "Come on Murkrow, ShadowBall!" The Murkrow squawked, fanning its ebony wings in front of its face. Behind the wings came faint glow. Tyce watched curious, still grounded. He arched his neck trying to see over the top of his bow feathers. Knowing Tyce, I knew he wouldn't wait much longer. He had a short attention span and would become unruly, disobeying at times. He ruffled his feathers. "Hurry up Faulkner, I don't have time to wait!" I snapped at the novice. Faulkner for an instant had a hurt look. I guess it happens when you're being criticized by a Master younger than yourself. I growled in exasperation. "That's it! Tyce Aeroblast!" Tyce stopped preening and looked at me disdainfully. "What?" Tyce shrugged, his translator coming out plaintive, yet cold. "He's not worth my time." "Your time, my arse! Do it! Eye for an eye!" "NOW!" "Huh?" A brightly pulsating black sphere burst from behind Murkrow's wings like a comet at Faulkner's command. I just stared as it. It streaked across the top of the rooftop and exploded across Tyce's chest and spread across him enveloping him. "Tyce! Shake it off." All that came back was a painful moan. "Damn it!" I shouted as I remembered Tyce was part Psychic. "Return! Serve you right for not listening! Now go Cooee!" "Finally!" The Shirasharmi launched from my shoulder and onto the field. He smirked, his mirroring mine. "No messing around, Spectrum!" A rainbow of waves rippled from Cooee's beating wings whirring around the Murkrow. It shook his head but then collapsed dizzy. "Return Murkrow! Go Fearow!" Faulkner crowed. He had a look of confidence back. I glared at him. That smarmy little Gym leader! I'll show him! I'll beat his Pokemon into submission!" "Sky attack!" I called. Cooee streaked into the air faster than any of his Pokemon and with all my training we had done, he could do it in one fluent movement spiraling down and barreling into Fearow's back in an awesome rugby tackle. I cried in elation. "Now Wing attack!" Zipping around Fearow's head and striking it with alternating wings, Cooee had Fearow tying its neck in a knot as well as losing HP. "Now finish it with Sunset Fan!" Now I would turn it into mince meat. I'd seen Cooee's most powerful attack turn Drakes Dragonite into a trembling heap! He whistled and gave a mighty pump of his tail. A tsunami of eventide roared over Fearow with a vengeance, not even stopping for its shrieks of fear. "OK, it's done, well done!" I laughed. "Don't take it too hard Faulkner, you knew who you were dealing with. I'm impressed with your strategy." Faulkner's scowled turned to one of pleasure. "I guess I did do well against the first to beat Faulkner since Ash Ketchum!" "Don't bloat her head any more." I turned around and there was Marlix, Singe a massive drumstick in his hand and RVD, his tongue lolling happily. "Or at least not until you've seen me!" Marlix "Go on RVD." I said imitating the real Rob Van Dam's taunt. Singe started humming the theme song muffled between the delicious smelling KFC chicken. "This will be a four on four battle!" Faulkner yelled gaining his composure after his horrible lost to Kalika. This battle would be so easy! He had used all his good pokemon on Kalika and still lost. If I kept this strategy of letting Kalika battle first, I would make it to Johto in record time. "Huh, Did you say something?" I said ripping a piece of Honey BBQ chicken strips from one of the many boxes Singe had on the floor of the ceiling. "Hey this is my food!" he protested. "I paid for it so I should at least get all of the Popcorn Chicken." "No!" he screamed, a look of anguish at the thought of losing those delicious small juicy pieces of cooked white meat. "Stop drooling and battle!" Faulkner yelled. "You can wait another minute before you lose again. Now Singe, if you ever want KFC you better give me that Popcorn chicken." "You can't do that!" "Wanna bet?" Very slowly he handed me the box of Popcorn chicken a slight sob escaping his lips, "Alright! Alright RVD go get him, Man these things are good." RVD barked and jumped into the circle. I kept eating the box of chicken. I heard some loud yelling but I was to occupied with my food. Then Kalika ran up to me, "Hey, you jackass, hurry up and tell your Growlithe to do something before Faulkner's Pidgeot's Sky attack breaks your pokemon's bone!" "Oh yeah!" I said remembering I was in a battle. I heard Kalika sigh and turn to Jewel with an exasperated look on her face. I looked up to see a Pidgeot hovering ready to strike my Growlithe, who was licking his, "Hey don't make me neuter you. That's disgusting. You get girls to do that," I braced my self to be hit from all sides but nothing happened, "Haha these women are finally learning to respect male superiority, now RVD agility..." I felt one fist hit my stomach and the other one come around and connect with my cheek. "Hehe." Singe laughed pointing his Twister sandwich at me. I looked up to see RVD move out of the way just as Pidgeot came crashing down. The roof caved in at impact and left a giant hole right in the middle. Good thing he didn't destroy the support beams. "That had to hurt!" RVD said peering over the edge, "Are you sure I can't lick it, cuz it really itches." "Aw God!" I muttered recalling him, "Now go Sear!" "Go! Noctowl." My cyndaquil came out and immediately his back erupted in a blast of flames. "He must be levelling up." Jewel stated. "OOOOO chicken!" "Get your own fire-back!" Singe yelled as he finished the bucket of chicken and began licking his fingers, "Finger-licking good." "Shut-up Singe!" I said for what felt like the hundredth time. "Noctowl Gust! Sear tried to get out of the way but was quickly blown away. In the air he began to glow. "What the hell did you do to him!" I yelled at Faulkner. "He's evolving, you idiot." "Oh." I pulled put my pokedex and found out he went from a cyndaquil to a quilava. It also told me it's special finisher. "Cool! Now Sear use Flame Wheel!" A ring of fire surrounded the bird and it began to close in. When the flames were gone... "Hey I just found a new recipe for KFC!" Singe yelled getting up and began nibbling on the burnt Noctowl." "Stop that!" Faulkner snorted indignantly while recalling his bird. "Hey Sear you think you can finish this next guy off?" "Sure, piece of cake!" "Who has cake?" Singe yelled happily. "Enough with this nonsense! Take care of these fools, Aerodactyl! Rock Slide!" The Aerodactyl simply flew away toward the noon sky. "Hey come back here!" "Ha and they say I'm an amateur." He recalled his Aerodactyl and sent out his last pokemon. "Go Dodrio, Quick attack." "Sear return! Come on Bob!" Bob came out and side stepped the rushing Dodrio who ran into Kalika. Singe began to laugh. Bob began to laugh. And lastly I began to laugh. The Dodrio ran for its life as Kalika chased him around the arena. He hid behind Faulkner who recalled him, sighed, and handed me the Zephyr Badge. "Told you, you would lose. Hey Jewel you gonna battle?" "Nah," she said petting her small bunny like Simular, "I think I'll only battle if it's necessary." I bent down a little to stare Kalika in the eye, "You ready for Azalea's Gym? Bugs are weak against fire. Are you sure you can make it?" "Is that a threat Marcalark?" "Oh no, just a foreshadowing, it's good for the story." I said standing up and rubbing the back of my head. "Oh, ok. Does that mean it's my turn to narrate, again?" "Sure why not." "Hey you skipped, me, the almighty Singe." "Relax you can go after her. Now lead the way O' omniscient one." Kalika swung her backpack to the other arm and entered the elevator. "You guys coming. After I beat Bugsy, I'll be one more step closer to winning-" "You need to think of more catch phrases."
