It was a dark a stormy night. I had just gone to bed after washing the dishes while watching a re-run of Family Guy. I looked at my watch as it read 10:30. Usually I didn't sleep this late, but the excitement of knowing that tomorrow I would get my very first Pokémon from Professor Birch, kept me up tossing and turning in bed. It had been a good 2 months in Littleroot Town after moving here from Johto. The people and places were real nice. It was a small town but peaceful. We had moved from the 3rd largest continent in the PokéWorld to the largest, Kanto being the second. It had started raining early that sunny afternoon. I had been playing kickball outside with my friends, when all of a sudden it started sprinkling. In a few minutes it started to rain bullets of water so we were forced to go inside. I went inside and saw my mom in the kitchen cooking her famous Chocolate chip cookies that she sold every Friday for $0.50 each. She looked tired, so I told her to go to bed early. I told her that I would do the dishes so she could rest. After I finished with the dishes, I went upstairs to my room. I packed up my things for the journey that awaited me. I packed my single-strap backpack with an extra pair of clothes, a Pokémon Guide Book, given to me by my Uncle Ernie for my 12th birthday, my Pokémon necklace, where I would proudly add and wear a badge after a gym leader victory, my very Pokémon capturing device; a Fast ball, and other important gear. I went to bed and began to think about Pokémon training. I knew I had to choose a Pokémon of my likeness. I had to choose a Pokémon that I thought would be my long time companion through bad, hard and good times alike. A Pokémon that would always be there to consol me when things seemed useless. One that would give me a shoulder to cry on. But alas, I would not know for only destiny would uncover the path of my journey. The rain had been going for hours like the life of eternity. Only that and the thought of receiving a Pokémon kept my eyes from sagging closed. I had finally closed my eyes when suddenly a bolt of thunder crashed from the sky making the earth tremble. It sounded near the Pokémon Cereal factory. The explosion was loud, very loud. I stood up as if awakening from a nightmare, but I could see nothing for the factory was too far away for me to see from my bedroom window. In an instant I went back to sleep, I was too excited and tired for the next day that would come.
