I took the extra day off to read up on books at the Library, that way I was better prepared for the day. I did the usual routine in the morning and went downstairs. My mom made scrambled eggs and bacon. I grabbed my backpack and put on my gym badge necklace. It was hard to say goodbye to my mom. It was the first time I would be away from my mom since Summer Camp. I try to make it as quick as possible for if I took long the pain will live in my heart. "Mario, I want you to take care. Don't forget to write to me!" she said as she knelt a little down to my height as a tear ran down a cheek. "Call me often son, don't forget me!" "Mom, don't cry, I'll never forget you. I'll write to you and call you!" "Tell you what, I'll give you my lucky chain," she said as she unlocked a moon-shaped gold necklace from her neck. "It guided me all through my journey. Every time at 8 at night, look up at the moon. When you look at it, I will as well. That way we'll know we're still together!" I kissed my mom as she kissed me in the forehead. I knew this was the last time I saw her in a long time so the hug lasted a wonderful eternity. So the pain of leaving her could quickly escape me, I ran outside. She waved and I waved. It was an emotional moment I would never forget. But I knew I would be back. As I walked to the lab, last touches of smoke were coming from the factory, and a little explosion here and there, but nothing a little wind couldn't fix, and those were very common in Little Root Town. I walked by the factory, and something told me not to pass it. Something was pulling my instinct to stay. Something was in there that was holding me back with curiosity. I had to check it out. I suspiciously entered the factory keeping a lookout for Fireman or other workers. The whole place was burned to a crisp. Some bricks were still standing but all the wood was a chunk of ash. I looked around and could see boxes of Pikachu Crunch with lightning-shaped marshmallows and Ditto Delight. As I kept on looking, there was a sudden movement. Someone was looking! I thought at first it was a Rattata but a Rattata was not as big as the creature I saw. I turned and saw a Pokémon run by fast, too fast! It kept running from one side to another frightened and scared till it finally came to a dead end. I went to take a look and there, under a small burned desk was the cutest baby Pikachu you ever saw! It was young, not too old. It was smaller than a regular Pikachu and a little bigger tan a Pichu. But what surprised me the most was the beautiful, charming blue eyes he had. I extended my hand to try and touch it but what I got in return was a zap of its powerful thunder shock attack. I was surprised as how a young Pikachu was that strong. I remembered I had a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich my mom had made for me. I got out my lunch and cut out a little piece. I slowly brought it close to Pikachu. At first it was doubtful as to weather or not to take it, but it finally decided that it could trust me. It quickly took the piece, found an open spot and swiftly raced to a secret place to eat it. It seemed happy when it ate it. I watched Pikachu playfully and happily race all over the place without even noticing what time it was. It got the hang of having me around and it trusted to come close to me, enough for me to pet it. I finally noticed my watch. It was 10 o' clock! I had spent time with Pikachu for more than two hours! I told Pikachu I had to go. I started to leave and it ran after me begging with cute eyes for me to stay. I couldn't refuse those beautiful eyes, I mean who could! I played with it for a little while longer, about 10 minutes. I knew I really had to go or someone would take my Pokémon! I decided to trick it into playing hide-and-go-seek. As much as I hated to see the expression in his face I knew I had to go. He went and hid for a game of Pika-chu-boo. I slowly started to walk outside when a large piece of burnt lumber fell from the roof. For a moment I laid motionless. Suddenly I remembered I had the Fastball, without thinking I threw it at Pikachu.
