Hi guys!!!!! Well itÕs been a long 2 years but Meteor is back in action!!! Enjoy! Chapter 2 War "Open war is upon you, whether you risk it or not." -Aragorn Colonel Leo Matthews stood silently on the bridge of the transport, The Golduck. The calm night air didn't calm his mind, which was churned with thoughts. His orders were to take a battalion of 500 men to Cianwood City. But why? Did his superiors know something he didn't? Matthews didn't know. He sighed softly, but before he could ponder these things more one of the lookouts yelled at him. "Sir! There's a bright light ahead!" Matthews walked up to him and took the binoculars the lookout handed him. As he looked through the binoculars he made two conclusions about the light, that it was too big to be another ship, and that it was orange, not the clear white lights of a city. City. He thought. Then it hit him. Fire. "FIRE! Cianwood's on FIRE!" He yelled. "Move! Move!" He leaned over the bridge and yelled down at the helm. "Full speed ahead Captain! NOW!" "Yes sir!" the captain replied. Matthews turned to a soldier. "Man your battle stations!" He said. "There is no way a fire that big could have started by accident! "Move it soldier!" "Yes sir!" said the soldier. Before Matthews could give another order however, he heard one of the men yelling. "Bogeys! 12:00 high!" Matthews looked up to see three dark shapes coming toward the ship. He could hear the roar of jet engines. "Open fire!" He yelled. The soldiers did so. At once the sky was lit up with the fire from the guns of the ship, and Matthews saw the planes scramble and break formation. Matthews swore loudly. Now the planes would be much harder to hit. One plane circled around and began toward the ship again. "Concentrate all fire on that plane!" He yelled. The soldiers instantly swung their guns around and began to fire at the plane. But their shots missed, and Matthews knew if they didn't take the plane down it would destroy the transport, and all 500 men with it. The plane was nearly fifty feet away when bullets struck the right wing and the plane crashed into the ocean. Wild cheers and shouts of joy were raised from the men. But, they were soon interrupted when the second plane came over the transport; its cannon blazing. The bullets struck the deck of the boat, and many men as well. They fell with their disfigured bodies riddled with bullets. Blood began to stain the deck red. Matthews noticed that many men who were down below had rushed up to the deck and had begun firing their pistols or rifles at the planes, and their was a tremendous yell from the soldiers when the second plane crashed into the sea. However, they had failed to notice the third plane, which was now dropping its payload into the water. Matthews turned around just in time to see the torpedo strike the bow of the ship. "Oh my-" The torpedo struck the bow and exploded with a brilliant flash. Soldiers, or parts of soldiers flew into the air and splashed into the water. Matthews, who had lost an arm, was clinging to a piece of wreckage from The Golduck. His screams were not heard compared to all the men laying and dying in the water. One had lost his everything up to his waistline. And was still living. Matthews watched in horror as each one slowly disappeared under the water. The last thing Matthews saw before slipping beneath the waves was a final explosion from the ship, illuminated by the light of the city that once was Cianwood. ****************** Ash could not believe his eyes. Misty was there! Right there in front of him. "How, wha-?" He stammered. "Take it easy Ash!" She said smiling. "I came down here last night. I'm staying in Viridian." Ash was beside himself with joy. It was taking all of his willpower not to let out a "WHOOOOO!!!!". "I'm really glad youÕre here MistyÉ" He said blushing. But before he could say anything more, he heard the honking of a horn behind him. Turning around he saw his friends John, Lex, and Dom, racing toward them in their truck. "Something's happened in Johto Ash!" Dom yelled as they were going by. "Better get home quick!" And with that the truck disappeared over the hill. Ash turned to Misty. "What's going on?" She asked "I don't know but I gotta get home. You will come won't you?" "No, I can't." She replied. "I have to get back before dark." "Oh." Ash said quietly. "Don't worry, I'll come see you tomorrow. Okay?" "Aright." He replied. "See you tomorrow." Misty smiled, turned around and began to walk away. But even before she took five steps, she turned around and ran to Ash and threw her arms around him. But she suddenly let go, and blushed. "Goodbye." she said softly. She then turned around and ran down the road until Ash couldn't see her anymore. Ash stood there for about five minuets until he finally shook himself back to earth. He then turned around and began to run down the road toward his home. Before he got to far however, a truck pulled up next to him. Dom and Lex were in the bed, and John was driving. "Get in!" said Lex. Ash jumped in the bed and Dom hit the roof twice; the truck started to race down road again. Dom and Lex were Ash's age, both 14. John was 16. "What's going on?" Ash yelled over the roar of the truck. Dom answered. "All that we know is that there's been some sort of accident in Johto. Rumors are that Cianwood City burned to the ground last night." "Burned to the ground!?!" Ash said with surprise. "The whole city?" "As far as we know." Lex said, "We've been all over the town warning people. There's no way an entire city could burn down by accident." "So you think Black Moon has finally done it?" Ash asked. "I don't know what to think," Lex replied. "But if something has happened, were sure to be drafted." Ash felt his stomach churn when he heard that. What about his mom? He was sure that she would lose it completely if he didn't make it in battle. And MistyÉ Ash's thoughts were interrupted by Dom's voice. "There's your house Ash," he said. "Thanks guys!" he replied. He jumped out of the bed, and the truck sped away. Ash walked up the path to his house and opened the door. His mom was sitting on the couch watching TV. "I'm home!" he said. "Ash!" she replied. "Have you heard?" "I heard that Cianwood burned to the ground last night." "There's more." "Sit down and watch." she said. Ash sat down on the couch next to his mom. Pikachu hopped up into his lap. "At approximately 2:30 this morning, The city of Cianwood was reported to be on fire by civilians of Olivine." the Newscaster said. "Thirty minutes later, a Johto transport full of soldiers was attacked and sunk with all hands lost. At exactly 10:00 this morning Black Moon declared war on Johto." Ash sighed heavily. It was finally done. He stood up slowly and turned to his mom. "You know what they're going to do," he said softly. "They're going to draft every possible soldier they can." His mom stood up. But to his surprise, she spoke calmly. "I know." she replied. "Your father would have wanted it this way. Ash nodded. "Good Bye." his mom said. She hugged him tightly. Then she said, "Hang on, I have something for you." She went upstairs and in about five minutes, came down with an army bag, a belt with a holster, and a 9mm. "These were your fathers," she said. Ash smiled and went upstairs to pack his bag. Ten minutes later he was standing at the front door with his bag slung over his shoulder, and his 9mm fastened around his waist. His mom and Pikachu were there to say goodbye. After heartfelt good-byes Ash walked down the path. He was no longer wearing his hat or vest. Just his jeans and his black tee with his fingerless gloves. Just then, Dom, Lex, and John rode up. They smiled when they saw him. Each one had his own bag and pistol. Ash hopped in the bed with Dom and Lex. "Never thought we would be riding to war together." Dom said. "Lets make it hot!" He stuck his fist in the middle. Ash and Lex did the same. Then all at once they through their hands up into the air and shouted, "LET'S GO!!!!" The truck roared to life and sped away down the dusty road. All right!!!! IÕm back in the mood !!!
