Chapter 6

Spoils of War

"Like it or not, combat is the most intense moment in a man's life."

-James Martin Davis

From the book American Soldiers

Ash awoke suddenly. He sat up in his bed, but winced and lay down again. The burning pain in his chest was smaller now, but he was still to hurt to get up. A large white bandage was rapped around his chest. He looked around the room he was in. It was a small room with a door in front of the bed, which looked to lead to a bigger room. Ash realized that he must be in a small house. He remembered getting shot, but he had passed out just after that, so he didn't know what happened after.

He noticed a small window by his bed. He sat up slowly and looked out. He could see several men walking around outside. Some of the men were playing football.

He heard footsteps that were getting louder, and he quickly lay back down in the bed. He barely opened one eye, and saw Claire walk into the room. She was carrying a small bowl. She set the bowl down on a desk by the bed. Without warning Ash said,

"Is this your house?"

Claire jumped and turned around. Breathing heavily.

"Sorry……" Ash said

She smiled. "That's okay." She took a washcloth that was dripping wet out of the bowl. She squeezed it, and the placed it on Ash's forehead.

"I…uh………thanks for saving me…" Claire said.

Ash blushed. "Uh…no problem!" he replied. "So is this you house?" he asked again. She nodded. "Me and Taylor's"

"Where are you parents?" he asked.

Her smiled faded. "They were killed when the invasion began."

"Oh." Ash said softly. "I'm sorry."

"That's okay," she replied. "So, where do you come from Ash Ketchem?"

"From Pallet Town!" Ash said proudly. "My dream was to be the world's greatest pokemon master, but I guess that'll have to wait for now."

There was a knock on the door. Claire went to answer it. Ash could hear voices, and in a couple seconds, Claire walked into the room with Brock and Tracy.

"Brock, Tracy!" Ash said with surprise. "Glad to see you’re ok! What happened??"

Brock replied."Not long after you were shot, Jake and Tracy showed up with the calvary. The rest of the Black Moon troops surrendered after that."

"What about our guys?" Ash asked.

Tracy answered. "Including you, we had two injured, but the other guy will be just fine."

"So what do we do now?" Ash asked impatiently.

"You need to rest before you go off to get shot at again!" Claire answered.

The next morning, Ash was on his feet again. He had gotten a message to meet Brock, Tracy, and Jake at the town hall.

It was about a five-minute walk to the town hall. Once he got there, he spotted Tracy and Jake, overseeing some militia that were checking out the town hall. Brock was directing them.

"Good morning guys!" Ash said walking up.

"Good to see ya up and around again Ash!" Jake said.

Ash smiled. Then asked, "What have you found so far?"

"See for yourself!" said Jake. He motioned to a crate that was set by two others. Jake lifted the lid. Inside, to Ash's amazement, he saw that the crate was filled with rifles. Ash recognized them as AK-47’s.

"Nice." said Ash.

Tracy smiled. "The other two crates are filled with exactly the same thing."

Jake continued, "Those crates over there are filled with ammo." he pointed to a large stack of crates.

"Ash!" Ash heard a soldier shout. He turned around and saw Dom approaching with a few soldiers. "Brock told me what happened, nice to see your ok!"

"Thanks a lot dude!" Ash replied with smile.

"I sent Dom on a scouting mission this morning." said Jake.

"Yeah and I found something I think you'll like!" said Dom.

****************

"Is it ready?"

"Yes sir! Installing final launch protocol now."

A dark figure silently watched the screen in front of him. He spoke softly,

"We can't let Joseph and his Black Moon army get in the way. Launch now!"

"Yes sir!" a man sitting at the computer replied.

Then he picked up a small microphone and spoke into it.

"All personal, take cover, I repeat, all personal take cover! Final launch sequence activated!"

An alarm began to blare inside the facility. The dark figure stepped forward into the light of the screen, The red triangle on the man's forehead could now be seen.

"My brother was never worthy of the name "Tryad." the man said. "But I will prevail."

The computer technician began to count down,

"5, 4, 3, 2," the facility began to shake and rumble."1, 0. Launch!!!!!

The facility was shaking hard, and the man looked outside a window to his left. Out the window was a huge roofless hanger with six small pods on the ground. The pods opened at the same time and six rockets shot out of the pods and into the sky above.

The shaking stopped, and the man turned to the computer technician.

"Where are they?"

The tech began to count again,

"10,000, 11,000, 12,000," The man smiled. "It's done. I've completed it!"

"Sir, we've reached 90,000 feet." The tech said a few minutes later.

"Good, cut the nitro engines."

"Yes sir cutting nitro engines." The technician flicked a few switches on the keyboard. "Nitro engines cut."

"Good. Activate system program, "Heaven's Judgement."

"Activating." The tech pushed a button, then typed in the word "Cecil". "We're in sir. You’re the proud new owner of the biggest orbital nuke system in the world."

*************

"Wow. That’s nice." That's all Ash could say. Jake, Tracy, and Brock also had their mouths open. In front of them, partially covered in moss and leaves, was a Black Moon tank. It appeared to be in working order, but it looked very old.

"This must be a tank from the last Johto War!" Jake said. "I think we can fix it."

"Ya think I could drive?" Ash asked as Brock stifled a laugh.

"After what you did to Misty’s bike I’ll be amazed if they ever let you on wheels again!!!" he said and then broke into laughter.

Ash turned red at Brock’s comment. It wouldn’t be as bad if it wasn’t true…

"Tracy, you stay here. Jake said. I'll send a few engineers your way, and see if you can fix it."

"Right." said Tracy.

"Ash, let's go back to town."

Once they returned to the town, the planed their next move.

"Now that we have more men, It’s time for a major move." said Jake, pulling out a map. "It’s time to establish a base that we can launch major campaigns from against Black Moon. We’ll start here." pointing at a spot on the map. "Cherrygrove."

El Fin.

Not much new to say…except that All your base are belong to US. Comment!!!!
