Myths and Legends Chapter 2
The end of a beginning and the beginning of an end
Ash gulped. Suddenly he wished Pikachu hadn’t insisted on going out that
morning.
He heard a yell and from the corner of his eye, he saw Misty charging him
with a dull looking sword. He jumped out of the way, barely being missed. He
heard her silently curse to herself.
“You seem to be getting out of shape. To many sweets I fear,” Jessie said,
waving her finger and taping her foot.
“I wouldn’t be talking, Ms. Eat-Everything-In-Sight,” Misty said, getting
up off the floor and brushing herself off. “Yuck. Koga really needs to sweep
more often. It’s filthy in here.”
Ash was so absorbed in their little argument, acting like they had known
each other forever; he hadn’t noticed a pair of cream colored arms that had
picked him up.
“For once I’ll be able to get back at the twerp,” the figure said with a
slightly New York accent.
Ash snapped out of his trance when he recalled the voice. “M..Me…Meowth? I
thought you were a cat. How did you…?”
“Actually, you can call me David. Dave for short. And if I really like you,
Davie. But that’s not going to happen,” Meowth, now David, said as he sat
down the boy in front of the bickering girls. He cleared his throat loudly.
“Oh, right. Now hold still champ. Or this will hurt a lot more,” Misty said
as she leaned down over his neck.
“Ewww…Do you have to be so noisy?” Jessie said, looking away and then back.
“You wanna try this sometime? It’s not easy,” Misty said, looking up and
brushing her lip with the back of her hand.
“He looks like a zombie,” Jessie said, kneeling down beside him.
“Looks almost tranquilized,” Brock added, waving a hand in front of Ash’s
face.
“That’s how he’s supposed to look!” Misty screamed.
“If some one don’t turn him off,” Meowth, back to being a cat, said,
pointing a thumb, or part of a paw at James, “we’ll drown.”
“Oh come on. Nothing happened to him. He’s just a little out of it,” Jessie
said, trying to comfort James.
“It’s not that! I didn’t even get to use my powers,” he wailed.
“What powers?” Meowth muttered.
“But next time, I will be victorious,” he said, jumping up dancing, and
laughing like a maniac.
Everyone facefaulted.

“Wha…Where am I?” Ash asked, trying to sit up. He felt he was lying down on
something soft, but couldn’t place what it was.
“Ssh. Go back to sleep. You’ll feel better in the morning.” A voice said. It
sounded familiar, but Ash was too groggy to place it. He asleep soon.
“So how is he?” Jessie asked, seeing Misty come out of the room Ash was in.
She was carrying linens to put on the rest of the beds.
“Not great, but give him a night’s rest and he should be fine,” She
replied, brushing back her hair. “I haven’t seen anyone act this way since…”
“I know you miss him. Hell, even I miss him, and I was never to close to
him. Don’t worry about it. He’ll be fine.”
“Yeah, your right. I’ll go look for Pikachu. Ash’d kill to have him back.”
When Jessie started to look worried she began to comfort her.
“But only figuratively. He doesn’t really like Officer Jenny’s. I think
he’s seen Brock go gaga one to many times.”
Jessie sighed and went back to fixing the beds. ‘I hope she doesn’t worry
too much. She does believe in those fairy tales. What am I saying? She and
all of us are things from fairy tales.’ Her thoughts were interrupted but a
pair of arms encircling her waist and a head settling on her shoulder.
“Jessie, when are you going to be through?” James said, kissing her neck.
She giggled and shrugged him off. “When you don’t see me carrying these
sheets. Now let me finish,” she said wriggling away from his grip and
walking down the hall.
“Your no fun,” he said pouting.
“Do you want somewhere to sleep? Besides, if you want those donuts, you’ll
let me go. I still need to remind Brock to bake them. And you know how hard
it is to get Brock and Meowth away from their games.”
“I know, but you’re always working.”
“Well, if I could get some help…”
“I think I heard Brock call for help,” he said pointing to the living room
and running the opposite direction.
‘Why does he always run whenever work comes up? This house really does need
repairs. And I promised not to use spells, but, this would be a good time to
use them. Oh well. At least Brock, Misty, and Meowth will help. Hopefully,’
she thought rolling her eyes upward as if asking, ‘Why me?’

Ash woke up with a terrible headache. He noticed his cap, vest and shoes
were off, so he decided to just find out where he was.
He heard voices from down the hall, so he went that direction.
“So, do you want your coffee black, or with sugar?”
“Brock, what are you doing up so early?” Ash said, looking at a clock on
the wall.
“Silly, it’s ten o’clock. You’ve slept a long time,” Misty said from her
place on the table.
“Oh. That hit to the head knocked me out that long. Do you have any orange
juice?” he asked Brock.
Everyone but Misty looked quizzical.
“Yeah, I guess,” she said, nervously laughing. “So, what do you have to eat
today, Brock?”
“Same as always,” in a quieter voice, meant for only her to hear, he said,
“but you’d better tell us why the kid thinks he got hit on the head.” To
everyone else he said, “So what do you all want?”
Everyone told him what they wanted, and then sat down to eat.

After breakfast, Misty told Ash that he should go and watch some TV Ash was
a little suspicious, but agreed.
“So, why does he think that he got hit in the head,”
“And why does he think that were okay ‘round him?” Meowth said, interrupting
Brock and going to the point everyone was dancing around.
“Well, I kinda have the ability to make people forget, what I kinda did to
them,” she said, her index fingers going around each other in circles .
“So that’s why he,” Jessie said, pointing to Meowth, and holding her hand
in front of her mouth to keep from laughing.
“Yeah, that’s why,” Misty agreed, starting to laugh like Jessie.
“What? What’d you do ta me?” Not receiving an answer, he used the one way
he knew to find things out. Fury Swipes.
“What’d you do that for?”
“My face! You’ve ruined perfection!”
“Well then tell me what your talking about!” Meowth screamed. He saw
mallets coming towards him and he ducked behind James and Brock. You could
see that they had gone through this before, because they had on hard hats,
pillows, and roller blading pads on. You could here their screams when
contact was made.

“So where are we going Brock?” Not receiving an answer, Ash turned to
Misty. Seeing she was reading, he decided not to ask.
They were driving an old Ford to a place so Ash could do some ‘training’
and he was going to battle Misty, Brock, and a few others that they wouldn’t
tell him about.
Misty let out a sigh, startling everyone.
“If only life were that way. Then I wouldn’t have to worry about this,” she
said, and returned to her reading.
Ash was lost in his thoughts so he didn’t hear her.
‘What have they been talking about. I know I shouldn’t have listened when
Mist said I should watch TV, but I couldn’t help it. Why are they being so
secretive. I know what she did, but I’m not scared. It’s like I had a dream,
but I know it’s real. Or this mark hadn’t been here. I know Team Rocket will
be there, how I know is another story. How can they be so, so calm? It’s
like they know what’s coming, and there’re taking it with arms wide open.’
Misty looked back up from her book, and seeing Ash and Brock with far away
looks, and pikachu sleeping in Ash’s backpack, she had no one to talk to.
‘I hope this works. What if he’s the one? I hope so, then we can end this
masquerade. But if he is, then I’ll never be able to tell him. And what
about Jakura? He said he’d come back to me, but he hasn’t yet.’
“We’re here you guys. Let’s go.” Brock said, killing the engine and
grabbing a backpack.
“Finally,” she said, dropping the book and jumping out.
“Did you bring pikachu?” Brock asked, handing Misty hers.
“Yeah, but why only him? I thought I was training,” he answered, picking up
his backpack and waking pikachu.
“This is a…different kind of training,” Misty said with a gleam in her eye
Ash didn’t particularly like. She headed down a faint trail, with Ash and
Brock following.
