Chapter One: The Beginning.

It was another boring day at Pokémon Immaculate Primary School, in Bossley Town, as I daydreamed in Maths. The final bell rang, and all the students of Year 6, got up out of their seats and stampeded out of the class, grabbing their pokéballs out of the cupboard on the way. I was among them, rushing and grabbing and getting out of school, but as soon as I got onto the soccer oval, I stopped. There was no need to rush anymore. I was out of the school grounds, and that was all that mattered. I saw one of my best friends up ahead, and ran to him.

"Hi Robert," I said. He continued to look at the ground.

"Oh hi Tara," Robert Retaw replied.

"What's wrong?" I demanded. "Come on, out with it."

"Nothing," Robert mumbled. "It's just Starmie…oh, never mind."

"Robert!" I cried, as he ran off down Ultra Road. I sighed and turned down Haunter Crescent to get to my house on Cheez St, in deep thought.

My name is Tara Erif, and I live in Oztralia. Oztralia's rules about pokémon are very different to Kanto, Johto and Orange Arcapello. We don't have leagues, but we go to school like normal kids. Children in kinder have 1 pokémon, years 1-5, 2, and Year 6 get to have two or three. I have a Chameleon, a Ponyta and a recently caught Pidgeotto as my team. When I graduate, I'm allowed to have 4 pokémon, and when I'm in years 11 and 12, I can have 6. Cool?

If you wanted to do something like a league, you can compete in the yearly Pokémon Championships. The winner gets to compete in the region, and if they win the region, they compete in the state finals, then they compete in the country finals. It's really cool and its better if you wait until you are a senior, in years 11-12, before competing.

Anyway, I'm 11 years old and in year 6. My best friends are Robert Retaw, Mathew Lamron and Dion Hocus. I don't know where I'd be with out them. Robert loves water pokémon, so his three pokémon are Starmie, Wartortle and um… oh yeah, Starmie, Wartortle and Poliwag. Mathew is a normal, flying pokémon lover, and his pokémon are: Doduo, Farfetched and Spearow. Dion = Psychic. His pokémon are Drowsey, Abra and this might sound strange, but he also owns a Gastly. That's my friends. I was walking home alone which was strange, but my sister was at her friend's house, playing with her Pikachu.

"Ponyta! Charmeleon! Pidgeotto! Come on out!" I called. When my pokémon were released, I jumped onto Ponyta, with Charmeleon and Pidgeotto flew behind as I rode home. "Thanks for the ride," I said as I dumped my bag in the house. "Ponyta, we need to get to the PokeMart! Lets go!" We rode off to the pokemart and got there in no time. I looked at my shopping list:

1. More Potion
2. The bread for mum
3. TM for school project

"Okay," I said as I counted my money. "Ponyta, jump into the pokéball please. You to Pidgeotto. You know the rules, only pokémon as big or smaller than the sign are able to enter the pokemart, out side the pokéball." My pokémon nodded and jumped into their pokéballs. Charmeleon stayed out. "I've only got $22," I said. "We'll have to battle first, okay?"

"Char," Charmeleon agreed. We entered the mart and stopped at the Pokémon Center inside. Nurse Joy healed my pokémon, and we went to get the bread. Soon enough, we were on the third floor, facing the Battle Arena, this cool battling place.

"Charmeleon," I said. "Let's battle."
