Chapter Two: Illegal Stuff

I signed in and was about to call to another trainer when…

"Hey! Tara!" I turned around and saw Sartor, this stuck up kid whose real name is Mark, calling me. "Let's fight."

We faced each other, ready to fight.

"I choose you! Ponyta!" I called.

"Go!" Sartor cried. As the two pokéballs landed in the battlefield, they released a white bundle of energy. My one changed into the unmistakable shape of Ponyta and Sartor's began to transform into an Eeveeloution. It was a dark brown, black color with bronze rings on its body. It stood and stared at Ponyta, ready to fight.

"What?" I cried. "But, that's illegal! No person under 15 may obtain a dark pokémon!"

"Oh dear," Sartor sarcastically said. "Too bad. Umbreon! Bite!" The illegal pokémon leapt at my Ponyta, and clung onto its neck by its teeth.

"Ponyta!" I yelled. "Use your flame thrower!"

Ponyta opened its jaw and let out a stream of fire that hit Umbreon directly. Umbreon jumped back off Ponyta and began to stare at her. Ponyta let another stream of hot flame that seemed to go on forever, covering Umbreon. When Ponyta ran out of horsepower for her flamethrower, Sartor, Ponyta and I looked at where Umbreon had been burnt, but Umbreon wasn't standing. It had fallen on its knee's in pain, and was struggling to get up, sweat drops dripping down its dark face. It got up, and used some of the little strength it had left to create a black ray that was released at Ponyta. A Night Shade.

"Ponyta!" I called. "Agility!"

"Umbreon!" Sartor said. "Fire those Night shades around."

Ponyta would flicker for one second, then reappear in another place and flicker again, like on the hit TV show, Dragon Ball Z. I was very proud of her, but sorry for Umbreon. The dark pokémon was full of such evil that it was bound to hurt my Ponyta if I didn't do something.

"Ponyta! Stomp!" I cried.

Ponyta stopped flickering and charged at Umbreon. It spun around, and gave it a hard kick in the mouth with its hoof. Umbreon flew through the air, and landed several feet away, where it was stomped on again by Ponyta. It struggled to get on its four paws, but collapsed. I had won the first round.

"Great job Ponyta!" I cried. "You battled really well and I'm very proud of you."

"Return Umbreon," Sartor mumbled. "Good job. Now! Go! Houndoom!"

"Houndoom!" I gasped. "But that pokémon is even banned from 20 year olds. It's illegal!"

"Houndoom!" Sartor began, but couldn't finish because Houndoom had already leapt at Ponyta. It was on its back, and repeatedly biting her. Ponyta's flame mane didn't bother this pure evil dog, as it was part fire. I could see red dripping down Ponyta's side, and winced. Houndoom began to bite, pull and toss bits of the skin around the arena. Blood was pouring down the side of my horse now, and I knew that somebody had to stop the Houndoom, before it was too late…

"Sartor!" I shrieked. "Tell your illegal pokémon to stop!" Sartor's face was pale, like mine, as he watched my pokémon being ripped to shreds by his dark one.

"Houndoom!" Sartor said. "Return." He fired the red beam at Houndoom, who jumped over it and avoided being recalled. Houndoom began to hurt Ponyta even more.

"Ponyta!" I screamed. I pulled out Ponyta's pokéball and returned it as quick as I could, then ran to the level of the Pokémon center that was on the same level of the Pokemart as the Battle arena. I rushed inside, and met a Nurse Joy.

"What's wrong?" Nurse Joy asked anxiously.

"It's my Ponyta," I rushed. "I was battling, when the opposing trainer sent out an illegal Houndoom. The pokémon practically ripped my Ponyta's back to shreds, and it's bleeding and in heaps of pain. I need it treated, it was the first pokémon I ever battled and caught."

I looked at Nurse Joy worriedly and she looked back, concerned. "I'll see what my sister, Joy, and I can do." She replied, taking Ponyta's pokéball off me. "And you can go tell your opponent that he owes you at least $25 for the damage he has caused, and you should rightfully win. And also, tell him to give the Houndoom to an older person to release in the Dark Sanctuary. I'm sure Ponyta will be fine."

"Thank you Nurse Joy," I said.

"No problem," she said. "Come pick Ponyta up tomorrow morning after school."

"Thanks," I called. I ran back to the battle arena where Sartor was being confronted by an Arena Op.

"I didn't mean for that to happen," he cried. "Honest. I wouldn't want to put a pokémon in that much pain!"

"You will be removed of all dark and evil pokémon anyway," the op was saying.

"Please not Umbreon," Sartor begged. "You can take Houndoom because he is more evil than I can handle, but I raised Umbreon from when he was an Eevee. He has a good heart! Please, not Umbreon…"

The way Sartor was begging for Umbreon made my heart melt. It was true, on the first day of school, when we had to choose our first pokémon, he had chosen Eevee, and him and Eevee had the special bond that trainers should have with pokémon, the bond of love. I knew I had to do something.

"Excuse me?" I interrupted. Sartor and the op looked at me. "I battled this trainer, and his Houndoom totally shredded my Ponyta. But, I agree, the Houndoom should go, but he should keep the Umbreon. I've grown up with him, and he shares a special bond with his Umbreon, ever since it was an Eevee. It really has a good heart, so, let him keep it. Let him keep the Umbreon. Please?"

The op looked at me. "Okay," he finally said. "But hand over the Houndoom."

Sartor did as he was told, then turned to me. "Thanks," he said awquedly. He is not known for saying thanks. "You saved mine and Umbreon's butt back there. I don't know how to thank you."

"You can pay over my money, and never catch another Houndoom," I said sternly. Then I lightened. "Aside from that, no problem o."
