Part X

I want you, to be free
Don't worry, about me
And just like, the movies,
We'll play out, our last scene
~ Movies, Alien Ant Farm

Kala headed directly for Ebony, with a burning hot flame-thrower, but missed thanks to Ebony's newfound will to live. Ebony ducked and slashed at Kala's paws, knocking Kala onto her side. Kala got up, fury blazing into her eyes, and leapt onto Ebony, crunching down on her neck. Ebony howled in pain, and stood up on her hind legs, slashing at Kala to release her. Kala let go when claws tore down her shoulder, making it bleed. Kala leapt onto Ebony again, and they fought a bloody battle. Another Houndour joined Kala in fighting with Ebony, and Ebony was out numbered.

Viola faced another canine beast, glaring, and leapt up, her chain and amethyst jewel glowing a bright lilac color. She landed on the Houndours back, and shot out about 5 - 7 golden stars that sank into the Houndour's fur. The Houndour howled in pain and flipped Viola off of his back. Viola got up, angrily and charged speedily at the dog, smashing into him, knocking him down. Jumping up, out of the purple glowing amethyst on her chain shot a blinding purple beam that struck the ground around the Houndour. The purple force built up around the beast, and struck, not really doing that much damage as Houndour had a type advantage over Espeon. Unexpectedly, another Houndour ran up from behind Viola and tackled her to the ground, while the first Houndour began flaming her delicate fur as the other one bit her.

Ray faced Inferno, hatred in his eyes. Flickering for a moment, Ray disappeared and reappeared behind Inferno, and tackled him to the ground. Lifting up his paw and extending his claws Inferno let off a flame-thrower, directly in Ray's face. Braving the intensifying heat, Ray slashed Inferno's jaw, knocking away the flames and inflicting damage. Two more Houndour shot up from behind and began to bite Ray intensely.

We've got no hope, Ray thought in pain. It's all over. We might as well surrender now

"Hurrgreaa!" an Umbreon cried, as an older and bigger Umbreon leapt up onto the three Umbreon that were attacking Ray and began to rip them off him.

"Thanks dad," Ray panted.

"No time for that now," Lunar shortly replied, and slashed at the Houndour approaching him.

The Houndour were a lot stronger than the Umbreon, and their pack was bigger as the psychic Espeon was fighting along with them. The Umbreon couldn't really do it alone. Suddenly, out of the starry sky flew a large silvery creature with great wings and tips of red on the feathers.

"Hey Ray, couldn't let you fight on your own could I?" the Skarmory grinned. He dove down, and picked up two Houndour in his claws and flew off; into the Earth Forest and over the lake. Releasing his grip, he dropped the Houndour into the water and flew back for more.

Midnight didn't start to fight right away, he focused on the scaly blue skin of another Eeveeloution, the fins and the tail of the Vaporeon, and teleported into Vaporeon territory.

"Aqua!" Midnight gasped, energy low from all the pressure lately. "Aqua!"

Aqua, the head Vaporeon turned his head to look at Midnight, who was panting heavily. "An Umbreon. What are you doing here young Umbreon?"

"Aqua, it's terrible! The Houndoom are allied with the Espeon and they are attacking our pack!" Midnight cried.

Aqua's expression turned into one of concern, worry and anger. "Violetta, I always knew she would not be suited for leader. Too shady in my opinion."

"Aqua, please!" Midnight begged. "The Umbreon will loose! Please help us."

Aqua nodded. "When we were in peril, Nero helped us, so did the other Umbreon, risking their lives for us. Now, it is our turn to help the pack. Let us go."

Midnight focused on the Council of Flight for more help. They did not have any connections with the Umbreon, but as they had sent Skarmory to help Ray and Viola, then he would go for more help.

"Aqua, you and the other Vaporeon start running," Midnight told Aqua. "I'm off to fight again."

Aqua nodded as Midnight flickered off. "All right! Vaporeon, let's go!"

Back at Moonlight Meadow things weren't so good. The Houndoom were just too powerful, and the Espeon were just as bad.

"We're going to have to run for it!" Lunar shouted above all the noise. "Let's go!" The Umbreon managed to escape from the grip of the Houndour and began to dash away through Moonlight Meadow. They knew that they couldn't win, but they wouldn't be merged either.

The Houndour chased after them, along with the Espeon, Chain and Violetta. Ray could feel them running up behind him and tried to go faster, and tripped over a rock, being clumsy as usual. A Houndour caught up to him and was soon joined by two more.

"Get off me!" Ray cried.

Hearing his cries of help, Ebony turned and ran back to Ray, lifted her paw and swiped down the Houndour's cheek. "Run for it Ray!" Ebony told Ray.

"What about you?" Ray asked, concerned.

"Just do it Ray! Save yourself!" Ebony hissed, kicking and slashing the Houndour. Ray pondered whether to go.

"No." Ray stubbornly replied, and leapt onto the Houndour tackling Ebony. He slashed it down, then slashed off another Houndour. "We're coming out of this together!"

Ebony looked at Ray and sighed. Snapping out of her trance, she got up and shouted, "Let's run!"

Running, following the pack, Midnight appeared beside them, and ran along with them. "Couldn't let my best friends go without me could I?"

"I could say the same myself," Viola appeared, and grinned. Midnight smiled as the four of them ran.

"When and how are we going to end this stupid fighting?" Ebony cried. "There's no point in hurting the Umbreon pack, and we can't run forever!"

"Your right," Ray agreed, almost too quickly.

"There is some way to beat them, I know it," Midnight said.

"But how? We can't fight them, there's too many, and anyway, if I dared to fight my mother I'd be dead meat!" Viola replied.

"You'll be dead meat whether you fight or not," Ebony informed her.

"There has to be some way…" Midnight said slowly, thinking hard.

The idea struck him in the head so hard that he nearly fell over. It was ingenious, but it could risk being killed. He looked around at his three good friends. Ebony, the outgoing Umbreon who lived life on the edge and took risks, Viola the sweet hearted innocent Espeon, and Ray.

His best friend Ray. The one pokémon who fully understood Midnight for the pokémon he was. Ray his flirtatious buddy who was always there for Midnight, who would have sacrificed himself for Midnight in a second. The guy who jumped in front of Midnight when another Eevee was about to attack him when they were pups. The pokémon who was always beside Midnight, who was a part of the Umbreon. The one pokémon that Midnight fully communicated with.

The one main pokémon Midnight was doing this for.

Midnight came to a halt in his running and turned around. Ebony noticed this. "Midnight!" she helplessly cried, worried.

Ray and Viola looked back too, as Midnight jumped through the raging Houndour, trying to avoid being hit. "No Midnight!" Viola shouted.

Ray watched, still running. "We have to leave him," Ray told them.

"But…" Viola protested.

"He knows what he's doing!" Ray snapped. "Now come on!" Ray turned his head and kept on running, looking straight, not bothering to hide the tears that had begun to roll down the soft black fur on his cheeks.
