A New Region to Explore By: Red Elekid Part One This fanfic is based in my region, the Cian Islands. It is about five years in the future and Ash is twenty, Misty twenty-two, May sixteen and Brock twenty-five. This region, the Pokemon, cianballs, the gymleaders and Shadi are my creation and I DON"T want to find anyone using MY work and claiming it as their own. I will be more then happy to allow anyone who asks to use them. Just ask me. Ash and company are not my creations and do not belong to me, they belong to big companies that have already made lots of money. I have two dollars and twentyfive cents right now. R&R! Oh! *...* are words with emphasis on them. *** I jumped out of the ship and landed deftly on my feet. The wind on the lowlands was very cold and the air was heavy, I had to quicken my breathing to stop from getting disy and a headache. My shoulder-length, golden-brown hair fanned out behind me, as did the black strings of my green topped, black rimmed hat. My leaf green, elbow length shirt, that had a black vest design on it fluttered alittle. My black cut-off jean shorts weren't long enough for this place and I longed to be back on the ship, flying to one of the islands of the Cian Island region. My sneakers gritted in the dirt as I walked towards the building where some passangers awaited. The building was large and painted white with a brown ship for a logo painted on the top part. My stride was perposeful, I was headed for the front desks. I needed to find some people. "Hi. How may I help you?" inquired the clerk, a girl with a blond bob and a nametag that read Lily Jo. "Yes. Could you page an Ash Ketchum, Misty Waterfall, May Huton and Brock Slate?" I needed her to. I had no clue what the people looked and I didn't want to go around shouting their names. "Sure. Where do you want me to send them? Here or to a certain ship?" Lily Jo wrote down the names and smiled up at me. "Uh, here will be fine." That way I could meet them and tell them alittle about the experience going to the Cian Islands would be. "Will Ash Ketchum, Misty Waterfall, May Huton and Brock Slate please come to the front desks. That's Ash Ketchum, Misty Waterfall, May Huton and Brock Slate to come to the front desks." Lily Jo voiced over the loud speaker. It took five minutes but they soon appeared walking in a group and discussing something, the upcoming trip, probably. "Ash Ketchum! Over here!" I shouted and he looked at me. I smiled and waved him over, everyone followed him catiously. "Yeah?" he asked. His dark brown eyes were not catious like the rest of them, but held curiousity. His black hair was covered by a red and black hat and his flesh was covered by a blue t-shirt with a hood, and blue jeans. He had a green bacpac and black gloves on his hands. A Pikachu rode on his shoulders. "I'm here to take you to the Cian Islands. Are you ready to go?" I explained anxious to leave the lowlands. The people behind him were easing into their normal body positions from the rigid-preparred-for-danger ones they'd had moments before. "I am. Are you guys?" Ash had rapidly gotten an excited gleam in his eyes. A brown-haired, red bandanad girl nodded. She was wearing a tight red and black t-shirt and black biking shorts. "Of course!" Misty replied. Her orange hair was in a side ponytail and a Togetic was floating by her sides. She wore a short, sleevless, yellow shirt and blue jeans with dark red suspenders and a red backpac over her right shoulder. "Well, what are we waiting for?" Brock asked. He had spiky brown hair and brown skin. His eyes were small and you couldn't tell what colour they were. He was wearing a brown and orange outfit. "The ship is this way." I turned and headed out. The ship was redish wood and had large white sails with a cianball on it. The walk-plank was set up and waiting for me and a few other people to return. I guessed most everyone else had returned by the amount of people on board. "This is the BRONZE MIRAGE. It is the ship we will be taking from here to Viana and then you will have to hire another ship to get to the other islands. Unless you have a Pokemon you can fly on. Come, I'll show you the rest." I headed up the small stairs and onto the deck. The crew of the ship were all wearing srtipped shirts, ripped pants, eye patches and bandanas. "Uh, what's up with the pirate costumes?" May asked curiously. She was looking around and I guessed it could be weird. I had been traveling on that ship for years and hadn't noticed anything funny about it since I stepped on board the first time. "They aren't costumes, May. The clothes they have on are what they usually wear. They *are* pirates." I answered and smirked at her look. "Oy! Capt. Kinar!" I called out as I noticed her walk by. She had on her usual tight blue shirt and tight blue pants with a sword at her belt. "Hi, kid. Your the last one to get back. We will leave now," she turned to Ash and his friends. "I hope you have a good flight." She bowed and left. "Um, I'm confused. I th-" May started, a look I thought was curiousity crossed her face. "Oh, Kinar! Come back! We could go have a small romantic dinner and then a walk on the beach at sunset." Brock called out and was only held back by Misty grabbing his ear very firmly. "Oww, Misty! That hurts!" he complained. "Oh, yeah? Well, not as much as this," she punched him upside his head. "You shouldn't go after every girl you deem 'pretty'." She hit him again, for good measure, then released him to tend to his wounds. "Brock, I should warn you, don't try anything with Capt. Kinar. She isn't a girl for romance. She preferes thrills, like flying. And all the crew on this ship will take a piece of you and through you overboard if you do anything to her and don't listen when she asks you to leave her alone. She will enjoy using that sword on certain parts that a male thinks are . . . important." I explained with a truly evil grin on my face. Personaly, I would like to see the good captain do that, I knew she would, given a very good reason. "Oh, well, she wasn't my type anyway . . ." Both Broack and Ash looked horrified that such a nice looking woman could be so cruel. "Don't worry. She wouldn't do that to you without a better reason. But, I suggest you don't get thrown overboard, it's along way down. Come this way. I'll show you your rooms." I led them down a set of stairs and into a door with a 3 carved into it. "This is the main room. There are two rooms branching off, each with two beds. Each connects to a bathroom with doors that can be locked. I suggest when you use the bathroom, if you like your privacy, that you lock both doors. I'll leave you to get settled in." I got out of the room quickly and walked to the deck. My rooms were located near Kinars, it was a very special place and I was honoured to have it. I entered and sat down. Looking around, I smiled. It was a haven for me. The room as done in a dark orange and most everything else was dark shades. A very small, human shaped figure flew towards me. Its gossamer-pink wings barely moved as she hovered in front of my face. Her purple tinted skin sparkled in the soft light that filtered through the small windows. It's pale green hair always in constant motion. The yellow eyes penetrating my mind. "Mantra tra man. Mantra?" What worries you? Mantra asked. I put out my hand and she sat on it. I sighed. "I think I will soon have to leave the ship. I don't want to, but I think I soon want to try my hand at flying my own ship. I know I'll leave when given the chance." I explained, knowing Mantra would understand. She ahd wanted to get out of her colony, that's why she left with me. "Mant, ant tra antra Man." It will do you good to make friends. She put a red-clawed hand on my forhead and then settled on my shoulder. The door of my room opened and Kinar stood there, surrounded by the glowing light of midday. She looked extra pretty now. "We are ready to leave. Go get your charges and show them what it feels like to take to the air in the best ship in the Cian Islands." she looked proud and I was sure she knew when we landed on Viana that I wouldn't be leaving with her again. "Sure." I gave a half-hearted smile and left my room, Mantra still with me. At the movement she perked up, wondering where we were going. I walked past Kinar and down the stairs to the cabins. Loud noises were coming from number three. "Mintra, prepare to use Ember Powder if necisary." she nodded, I knocked on the door. "Misty? May? Ash? Brock?" I called when no one answered the door. More noise was heard so I opened the unlocked door. Misty was chasing Brock around after what looked like she had hit Ash and knocked him to the floor. An angry light flickered in her blue-green eyes and her mouth was twisted in an angry grimace. Her hands were balled into fists. "Okay, use Ember Powder!" Mantra flew up and beat her wings forward, crossing and uncrossing her wings repedatly, shooting bright red podwer into the air. Everyone froze. It wouldn't last long on humans so I quickly set about moving Misty across the room and put her into a chair, folding her hands in her lap. I placed Togetic in front of her. I put Brock in front of a coach because the speed he was going would surely knock him face-forward onto the wood floor. As soon as I reached the door again, the powder had worn off. Then I noticed May in a corner, she was laughing her head of but looked unharmed. Ash got off the floor and fell heavily into the nearest chair, his Pikachu was still frozen on the floor. Brock fell into the coach and gagged at the mouth of cusion he got. Misty bolted up but didn't move because the frozen Togetic blocked the way, so she sat back down. They all got confused looks on their faces, even May stopped laughing. I cleared my throat. They looked at me in surprise. "I'm sorry I had to attack you, we just can't have you disturbing the peace. Please try and hold off any fights you may want to have until we get to Viana." "But . . . How?" Misty and May asked together. "I don't know much about the Cian Islands but I do know that the Pokemon on your shoulder is a Mantra, so I'm guessing it used Ember Powder?" Brock was right and I could tell he was really interested in Mantra. "That's right. Here, you can hold her." I handed her to him as I crossed the room to stand next to Misty. "It will freeze people and Pokemon, but people for shorter times then Pokemon. They'll be okay in a few more minutes, Misty." Misty had looked worried when Togetic didn't sit in her lap when she sat down. "Oh, that's good . . . Uh, what's your name?" Misty asked me. I was wondering when someone would bother to ask. "My name is Shadi. In Cian, it means golden flyer. I hope to live up to that name one day. We are about to take off, would you like to come up to the deck to watch?" They all argreed and we headed for the best spot on the ship, on the roof of my room. By the time we climbed up, Capt. Kinar was giving the orders to take off. "I suggest you hold onto something." I advised. Misty positioned her Togetic between her leggs as she sat crosslegged and she grabbed hold of the ropes threaded about the walls. Ash did the same with Pikachu, who looked alittle aprehensive. Brock and May grabbed the ropes as well, they were about the only thing up there that you could. I didn't grab hold of anything, I was used to what would happen. "Switch the oars with sail-oars! Raise he other sails, aswell!" barked out Kinar. Everyone listened to her and did as instructed. A load noise greeted our ears as the normal oars were brought in and the sail-oars were put out. The sailoars were like normal oars, but the had large sails on the ends. Each sail had the cianball picture on it. Another gratting noise told me the other two sails on each side of the ship were being rased and positioned. And then we were off! The wind lifted us into the air, the rush of wind pushed back my hair and almost blew Ash's hat off. Mantra grabbed hold of my shirt to hold on, being so small, she would easily get thrown away. The blue sky was perfext as we headed southwest and higher up in the air. "What's going on?! I thought we were going in the ocean!" May yelled, sounding scared. "Don't worry! You want to go to the Cian Islands, don't you?" I asked. ***
