Kill Me, Kiss Me

Kill Me, Kiss Me

Author's Note: The title of this story was actually stolen from a Koren manwha (graphic novel) series I own by Lee Young You, but that's where the similarities end. This story has nothing to do with that series, except I thought the name fit. This story was written in December 2005.

It was one of those ordinary days. The sun was out in the cloudless, blue sky, the Pidgey were chirping in nearby trees, and Ash and Misty were quarreling as usual.

"And what's so bad about my hair color, Ash?!"

"Oh nothing, if you want to look like you're hair is on fire all the time."

"This is my natural hair color for your info-"

"Yeah, yeah, sure it is. I've heard you say that a million times, but I still don't think anyone's hair could be that orange without some serious dye-" Misty stopped cold in the dirt road and turned towards Ash again.

"You can be such a jerk sometimes, you know that?"

"Yeah, but at least I'm not a skrawny little runt of a sister. Your older sisters are so much more beautiful than you are. Brock, you agree with me don't you?"

"Oh no you don't, I am not getting in on this new argument today. Come on Pikachu, let's walk ahead so we don't have to listen to them yell at each other." Pikachu nodded in agreement and hopped off of Ash's shoulder onto the back of Brock's backpack. As Brock walked ahead, Pikachu looked on, shaking his head in disappointment of the immaturity of his trainer, and the fact that Misty was lowering herself to his level. The fight continued.

"Oh well, I know Brock agrees with me anyway. You've seen him everytime he sees your sisters; all lovey-dovey-Brocky like he usually gets when he sees a pretty girl." Ash turned his head and smilied, closing his eyes and continued. "Funny, I've never seen him get that way anytime around you..." He heard rapid footsteps leading away from him. He opened his eyes and looked down the road, as he saw Misty running down it, faster and harder towards the city in the distance they were going through for supplies and lodging in the local Pokémon Center.

"Congratulations Ash. You've once again made Misty upset, and this time enough to even cry too." There was a sorrowful tone to Brock's voice and Pikachu looked on until jumping off Brock's backpack, then using Agility to catch up to Misty.

"Uh...er...eheh." Ash hung his head in defeat, and tipped his hat lower, closer to his eyes. "I didn't mean to make her cry."

"Well now that you have, what will you do?"

"What do you think?!" Ash lifted his head with a look that said 'Why would you even ask such a thing' on it. "I'm going to have to go and apologize."

"You better hope she accepts it Ash." Brock looked down the road towards the city and then back to Ash. "It's not very often that Misty shows her tears. You must have really struck a nerve this time."

"I know, I KNOW! You don't need to rub it in."

"Hey, no need to yell at me. The fight's over now."

"Well then let's get a move on. I hope I'll be able to find her in that big city." Ash and Brock started again down the dirt road.

"If I know Misty, she'll probably go to a restuarant to eat like she usually does when she's angry. And as long as Pikachu is with her, she'll probably calm down faster and will be easier to talk to when you catch up to her."

"Why would it matter if Pikachu was with her or not?"

"Because Pikachu just has a way to connect with humans on another level than you or I can."

"But what if I can't find her?"

"No matter. She'll be back at the Pokémon Center anyway by nightfall or else she won't have anyplace to sleep for the night," Brock retorted.

"Unless she's still mad at me by then and still won't want to see me..."

"Which is why it is of the upmost importance that you find her before then." Ash looked onward to the approaching city on the horizon, and then down at his feet again, hoping that nothing bad came of Misty while she was with Pikachu in an unknown city. Around his steps on the road, Ash could have sworn he saw a few of the tears that had escaped Misty's eyes, but it might have just been his eyes playing tricks on him again.

Wiping the final tears from her face, she walked along on the sidewalk with Pikachu on her side. She didn't know exactly where to go, but just decided to keep walking until she found some place.

"Pikachu, you don't think Ash was really serious when he said those things, do you?"

Pikachu shook it's head and said a few things in his language. This reassured her a bit more and she tried to smile, but then started to frown again moments later. Pikachu could only think of how sorry he felt for Misty and the stupidity of Ash. They were passing a large department store on the right and Misty turned her head to look at what was in the window closest to her.

"Oh look Pikachu. That outfit is so cute. It would look so good on me, and that one to the right would look so good on Ash--well, the first one would look good on me anyway, if only I had the money..." Misty trailed off. Pikachu tapped on her ankle and Misty looked down to see Pikachu pointing inside the store. "You want to go in there?" Pikachu responded in some of it's words, shaking it's head and pointing to Misty. "You want me to go in there?" Pikachu nodded. Misty smilied down at the Pokémon. She knew that it was just trying to help by getting her mind on something other than Ash so that she wouldn't cry again. She decided to go along with it. Plus, she hadn't been shopping in weeks.

The two went inside and Misty instantly went into the female department. She would stop periodically at things she would call "cute," "cool," or "fashionable." Trying on this and that or just going through aisle after aisle of clothes or cosmetics. The good thing is that it was helping to get Misty's mind off of the whole Ash incident earlier, just as Pikachu had planned. After she had her fill, Misty and Pikachu went up a few floors via the escalators and came out in the Home & Goods section of the store. She walked over to one of the many tall windows bordering the entire room, and sighed, looking down at all the people and cars down below. She lowered her head as she felt so lonely now.

'Even with Pikachu here, it isn't the same as having Ash or Brock around,' Misty thought. 'I need someone I can really talk to and have a conversation with. Someone who would listen to me and give their advice on what they thought about a given situation. Someone who would be there when I needed them most, not stuck down there lost in a sea of people, cars, and concrete--' She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around quickly to find a 'sorry-grin' on Ash, who's eyes told half the story already.

"I'm sorry that I made you cry Misty, I really didn't mean too. I got too carried away with what I was saying, and I was wondering if you'd forgive me?" Misty looked at him as if she was looking through him for a few seconds. "Oh, uh, and I got you this." Ash brought the parcel he was holding behind his back up in front between him and Misty. Whatever it was, it was in a small sparkly-blue paper bag. Misty held out her hands before Ash dropped the present into them.

Misty smiled compasionatly. "Of course I forgive you Ash, even if you hadn't gone to the trouble of buying me this. What is it?"

"Look inside and see for yourself." Misty followed Ash's instructions and shook the contents of the bag into her open palm. Something hard dropped out, wrapped in more blue paper mache. Misty looked up and smiled once more at Ash before she removed the paper to reveal inside a bottle of perfume. Misty's eyes widened.

"But this is-"

"Yep, the same bottle that you were practically drooling over downstairs. After I luckily spotted you come into this store, I waited to see if there was anything you liked that I could get for you. Do you like it?"

"Oh Ash, thank you so much. Yes of course - I love it!" Misty pointed it towards herself and sprayed a small amount on her neck. "What do you think of it?" Ash leaned in and took a couple sniffs of the lovely scented liquid. After pulling back a bit, he replied.

"It smells just as lovely as you are. Both of them looked into each other's eyes and could see what each of them had on their minds right then. Both Ash and Misty leaned in closer as their lips met in the middle. The kiss lasted a few seconds, during which Ash straightened up and wrapped his arms around Misty's waist, bringing her closer.

Meanwhile, Pikachu could not believe what it was witnessing. It didn't know if both of them had completely lost their minds or if he was in an alternate universe. The second option seemed more believeable.

After the kiss subsided, they looked into each other's eyes as Misty bit her lip.

"Ash, we shouldn't be doing this here. People are going to stare, and I don't want that kind of attention." Ash put his nose to Misty's and smiled.

"You're mouth says one thing, but you're lips are definately saying another." Misty hadn't realized that she was still biting her lower lip, a perfect beacon that clearly stated she wanted to be kissed again. Ash took his chance while she made this realization and kissed her again, more passionatly this time, making her really get into it, even going as far as to wrap her arms around his upper torso. After their second kiss of the day ended, Ash pulled back and allowed Misty to do the same. "Then how about we go someplace else. What would you say if we go off to coffee? I passed a place one the way here while I was looking for you."

"Um, sure Ash. I could go for some coffee with you." Ash held up his right hand.

"Shall we then?" Misty smiled, dropped the perfume bottle back into the bag in her right hand and then took Ash's hand in hers before walking all the way to the coffee shop as they were.

Not long after they left the department store, with a confused Pikachu in tow, they came upon the Jumpin' Java coffee house. Ash opened the door, and held it open for Misty who thanked him and walked inside. It had a wonderful atmosphere and there were several other couples already here enjoying some mid-day coffee. Straight down the shop were a row of booths on the right and tables on the left, bordered by another pathway that was adjacent to the main counter where the customers made their orders. Ash and Misty walked up to the salesperson.

"Welcome to Jumpin' Java! What'll it be?"

"Uh, yes, I'd like the Vanilla Latte, medium size please."

"And for you sir?"

"I'll take the Hazelnut Capuchino, also medium size please." The cashier pushed a few numbers on the register and replied.

"That'll be $5.80, sir." Ash handed over six bucks and promptly got his change before heading over to the right with Misty to wait for the drinks to be made. Pikachu was still as confused as ever, but that was about to change fairly soon. Once the coffee was done, Ash and Misty picked up their respective drinks before heading to one of the tables for two and sat down. Pikachu decided to sit on the floor so as not to disturb them, plus he was eager to find out what was going on.

Both took a small sip from their cups, and of course finding it to be scalding hot, placed them on the table with a snap, knowing they should wait a few minutes for the heat to go down slightly.

"Perfect plan as ever Misty, and we worked it out so well too. Couldn't have turned out better if I do say so myself." Ash had a smug look on his face until he saw Misty's expression which read "What do you think you're saying?" Knowing he was forgetting something crucial, he thought quickly and avoided calamity just in time. "Oh but of course I never intended on making you cry, Misty. I'm still really sorry about all that." Misty smiled in triumph that she was able to make him remember.

"And don't you forget it either! Do you know how hard it is to just cry on cue. I wasn't sure if I would pull it off or not." Misty giggled to herself.

"What? You mean?"

"There are several things that will make me cry Ash 'Gullible' Ketchem, but what you said was not even close."

"And you made me think you were crying for real?" Ash asked astonished.

"Wow, you really think it was believeable. I wonder, did Brock think the same thing?"

"Yeah, he did, and he was the one that suggested that I go look for you to apologize."

"Heh, then it worked out even better than we thought it would." Misty grabbed her cup once more and took another tiny sip so as not to burn herself.

"I must congratulate you on that performance back there. Acadamy award winning even."

"Let's not get carried away here now, Ash. The point is that Brock believed us and that's all that matters. That's why we agreed to do this whole thing in the first place."

"Of course. You know as well as I do that if Brock found out we were now a couple that he'd tell my mom and you're sisters about it."

"And if that were to happen then your mom and my sisters would tell so many people in both our towns that we'd never get a moments peace. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it." Misty shook it off.

"Yep, so that's why we have to keep this going as long as possible. As long as we pretend to be fighting all the time, it won't seem like we're actually going out. And the least anyone knows the better."

"Yes, I agree. It's none of their business anyway." Misty sipped some more coffee, as did Ash.

"And then if we keep on doing that, we'll have even more of these times when we're all alone that we can spend however we wish." Ash smiled at Misty, who then smiled back, but remembered something.

"But Ash, we're not alone." Misty pointed down indicating that Pikachu had heard the whole conversation under the table. Pikachu was then picked up by Ash and placed on the table. Now that it was totally filled in now, it understood the situation much better.

"Now Pikachu, I'm counting on you not to tell anyone about what you've heard or seen today. I know there are other ways that Pokémon can communicate other than mearly talking, so please don't tell anyone." Ash had a stern look in his eyes.

"Yeah Pikachu, you must keep this a secret at all costs...Well, at least until we're ready for everyone to find out about it." Misty looked over to Ash who promptly agreed. Pikachu understood the situation completely, and it wasn't about to betray his friends' trust just like that. Pikachu nodded in agreement and all was understood.

"That's great Pikachu. Thanks a lot buddy."

"Thanks Pikachu; you're a big help." Pikachu smiled at both of them and jumped off the table once more to give them more 'alone-time,' greatful that it knew what was going on now.

For the rest of the time they were there, Ash and Misty talked about many things, but the topic of love was never too far away from the main subject at any given time. They were both completely sick with the attraction they felt for each other, but it was a good sickness; a happy kind of sickness that makes you feel warm inside when all you do is simply think about that other special person in your life.

Once finished with their drinks and their reminiscing of the past plus the plans they talked about for the future, Ash and Misty stood up from the table, walked over to the trash bin to drop their empty cups in, and walked hand in hand once more out of the coffee house, with Pikachu not far behind.

It was already starting to get late and all three of them knew that they had to meet up with Brock soon at the Pokémon Center before he informed Officer Jenny that they had gone missing. Knowing Brock, it'd be the perfect excuse for him to go and see Officer Jenny, but since he was also with Nurse Joy at the Center most likely, that might hold him off for a while. In any case, they needed to get back.

"Ash?"

"Yes Misty?"

"How much longer do you think we should put on this little charade of ours?" Ash looked over to his left and caught Misty's unsure gaze.

"We don't have to do it much longer if you don't want to, Misty. Whatever makes you happy I'll go along with." Misty smiled greater inside and out and even turned a light shade of pink at his words. He was so caring all the time, for her and for his Pokémon alike. It was one of his better traits, and one of the main reasons Misty liked him so much.

"That's so sweet of you to say Ash. Thanks."

"It's no problem at all Misty. Just give the word."

"Um...not just yet Ashy. Let me think about it more over the next few days and I'll give you my answer then, okay?"

"Sure thing Misty. Until then. But at least for right now, it seems that we've only got another few minutes together like this for maybe the rest of the day and night even..."

"Oh no you don't, Ash Ketchum. I see what you're trying to do and it's not going to work. We're sticking with the plan for the time being and that's that." Misty had made up her mind, and there was no reason to argue with her anymore, Ash knew.

"Can't blame me for trying when I already love you so much."

"I love you too Ash." They stopped walking for a few seconds to share one final kiss for today. It only lasted a few seconds but felt like an eternity to both.

The Pokémon Center was in sight now, and if things were going to go back to the way they were, at least in front of Brock, then they had to get into character right away. After the kiss ended, Misty stepped back a little.

"Thanks for a wonderful time today Ash, and now I'm sorry what I have to do next."

"Which is?" Misty brought her right hand back a bit and promptly slapped Ash hard in the face, leaving a big red mark on his cheek. "Hey, what'd you do that for?" Ash brought his hand up to his face as Misty nealed down, taking her red bag off her shoulder, and quickly, but gently, placing the perfume Ash had bought her inside. After slinging the bag back on and standing up, she replied.

"I am really sorry, but it's got to be believeable right?" Misty leaned in and kissed his cheek. "I'll make it up to you later, k?"

"Erm...sure thing Mist."

"Okay then. I'll just go on ahead and act like I'm ignoring you. See you in there." Misty winked at Ash and started walking towards the Center down the street. Ash waited until she was about 50 feet away before he and Pikachu started to follow.

Once Ash and Pikachu entered the Center, Ash quickly searched out Misty, easily found by her red hair siting over in a corner with an annoyed look on her face as she looked towards Ash's direction. With an equal expression of anger on his, he scoped out Brock sitting on the opposite side of the room in a booth. He raised his hand and beckoned Ash towards the table. As he approached, Brock let out a slow whistle.

"She hit you pretty hard Ash. I keep telling you not to treat Misty like that or you'll get the fangs real quick." Ash was laughing inwardly at the thought that Brock was the one giving him advice on girls when it was Ash who had the girlfriend. Ash just smiled weakly and sat down opposite Brock, which is when Pikachu jumped up onto the table.

"Yeah," Ash replied, touching his cheek again. It really did sting, but knowing that she didn't mean it made the pain almost melt away. Ash looked over towards Misty and for a split second they're eyes met and they both smiled.

"And what are you so happy about?" Brock turned around towards Misty, but from what he could see, she was still scowling at Ash.

"Uh...Just can't wait to eat is all. I'm starving," Ash half-lied. It wasn't the reason he had smiled, but he was still rather hungry.

"As always Ash. Wait here while I get us some food." Brock slipped out of the booth and went over to talk with Nurse Joy again about the food, something that totally preoccupied him. While Brock was still in ga-ga mode over Nurse Joy, Ash and Misty shared one more smile together, both wishing deep down that they were next to each other right at that very moment.

The End.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well this story came out much better than I would have guessed. Originally I had the idea to set it in a forest, but I thought a city would be more interesting and easier to work with. Plus I've read so many stories about Ash and Misty in a forest where their love scene happens that I just wanted a little change, and I think it turned out quite well. And what do you think able reviewer? If you would like to voice you're comments, please do so when you go back to my fics page to tell me what you thought about this story. Gotta Catch Ya Later!
