Disclaimer: Own Pokemon I do not.

A/N: Okay, I said in the last part that this chapter was going to be the best. What I meant was the best so far. Basically that?s because there are some battles in here. And this one should be pretty long too. I know the last ones were short, but this one is going to have a full day in Pokemon World and a day on Earth. So yeah. Oh and remember, I own all the characters in this story basically. Ask permission to use them before you do, or there will be consequences!

Chapter 3

The Meeting

Celest opened her eyes and looked around the alley way that had once been a dark place. Now though, the sun covered it with golden rays. The alley way that had previously been a dark blue full of shadows, was now a ray of golden beauty. The deep dark brick walls of the buildings next to her, the concrete floor, and the wooden fence behind Celest were now a crisp new golden in the morning sun. Even the disgusting garbage was marveling.

Celest looked around and marveled at the transformation. But her thoughts were disturbed by a sudden grunt from under a small box.

Celest crawled over the box and gently lifted it up. Under the box was a ball of red fur. Celest recognized to deep crimson as Moo?s fur.

Moo was obviously asleep, so Celest decided to wake him up. Gently she shook the little red rattata, all the while coaxing him to get up. ?Moo. Hey Moo. Come on you lazy rat, wake up!?

Moo woke with a sudden snore and his eyes popped open. He looked tiredly and angrily and Celest. ?Are you talking to me?? he grunted.

Celest put her hands on her hips. ?No, I was talking about the banana peel over there,? she said sarcastically.

Moo stood up on all four of his crimson paws, and stretched and yawned away the morning drowsiness. Celest stood up too and looked at the sky. She saw a bird fly by. Or at least what she thought was a bird. It had brown feathers and little spikes of feather all over.

?That?s a Pidgey,? Moo said looking up at what Celest was looking at. ?You can use your pokedex you know.?

As the Pidgey landed on the side of the building Celest reached in her pocket and pulled out the red device Moo had given to her not to long ago. She opened it and pointed it at the small brown bird.

?Pidgey is a very common sight in forests and wood. It flaps its wings at ground level to kick up blinding sand,? it said.

Celest put the pokedex away and looked at Moo. ?Now what??

?You catch it,? was the small rat?s reply.

            ?Catch it? With what??

?Wait right there.? And with that, Moo jumped into his pile of trash. While he was rummaging around in garbage, Celest watched the small brown bird groom its wings and then hop down on the ground to eat up some old pieces of bread. After a while Moo can out of the pile of trash. In between his two sets of buck teeth was a small ball. It was red on the top and white on the bottom. He threw it at Celest.

?That?s a pokeball,? said Moo. ?You can catch pokemon with it. And now I know this is too soon, but this is your first test, Celest. You?re going to battle and catch that Pidgey!?

Celest looked up at Moo. ?How do I battle it? I?m not keen on wrestling on a little bird.

Moo sighed. ?No! You?re not going to battle it! I am! You?re just going to tell me what to do!? he yelled.

            ?Huh??

?Let?s start at the beginning. When battling a wild pokemon or another pokemon trainer, first you must choose your pokemon. Right now I?m your only pokemon, so you will battle with me. Now usually your pokemon will be in pokeballs, but I don?t like them. Anyway to call on a pokemon, say that pokemon?s name and through the ball. For me just call out my name,? Moo explained.

            ?Uh, Moo!? Celest said.

?With more enthusiasm! Say ?Go!? or ?I choose you!? or something like that!?

?Uh, okay. I got it! Pidgey! I challenge you to a battle!? Moo smiled and Pidgey looked up at Celest. ?Moo, I choose you!?

Moo stepped in front of Celest and Pidgey got ready to fight.

            ?Okay now what?? Celest asked.

Moo glared at Pidgey, but at the same time said ?Open you pokedex and search for my moves. I can attack Pidgey and when you call out the moves, I?ll use them.?

?Okay?? Celest opened her pokedex and pointed it at Moo. She scrolled down the list of things about Rattata and clicked on ?attacks?.

?Rattata?s attacks are Tackle, Tail Whip, Quick Attack, Hyper Fang, Scary Face, Focus Energy, Pursuit, and Super Fang,? the small red device said.

            ?Uh, okay. What?s Scary Face??

?It stops the enemy from escaping,? Moo said.

?Well then that?s a good idea. Just incase Pidgey decides to take flight. So Moo, use your scary face attack!?

Moo smirked. ?My pleasure.? With that his eyes grew red for a second and Pidgey shuddered, but had the sudden urge that wouldn?t let it fly away.

?Okay, now let?s see what quick attack is!? Celest said.

Moo started running at Pidgey. Celest was amazed by how fast he was. Unfortunately Pidgey was faster. The tiny bird spread its wings and flapped them hard kicking up a little whirlwind of dust. The tiny tornado hit Moo and flew back to Celest.

?Moo? What happened?? Celest asked worriedly.

Moo stood up. ?That was gust, one of pidgey?s earlier attacks!?

Celest looked at the small bird. ?Well, we don?t want it to happen again. Try, um, that tackle one.?

Moo jumped up at Pidgey, and this time hit it. Pidgey stumbled a bit but wasn?t fazed at all. Instead it spread out its wings out again.

?Oh no you don?t! Moo, use hyper fang!? Celest called. She liked this and was oblivious to anything around her. She was all about the battle even though half the happened she was just learning about.

Moo smirked and leapt at Pidgey before it could start flapping its wings. It?s chomped down on Pidgey?s shoulder.

Pidgey squealed and stepped back. Moo jumped away from the hurt bird.

?Okay Moo, now use your tackle again!? Once again Moo raced at Pidgey and tackled it to the ground. Pidgey lay in the dust, knocked out.

?Yeah we did it! Now push the button on the ball and through it at the Pidgey. You can say something cool too, just hurry!? Moo yelled.

?Right.? Celest pushed the small button and the ball expanded a little so that now it was as big as her hand. ?Go pokeball!? And she threw the ball at the fainted Pidgey. The ball opened with contact and a red light engulfed the small bird. Within a matter of seconds the pokeball was on the ground and Pidgey was no longer there. The ball moved and the button Celest had pushed was red. After a while the red stopped and there was deep squeak and the ball stopped rattling. Celest looked at Moo who smiled a broad smile.

?What? Is that good?? Celest asked.

?Yes it?s good! Celest McFerend, you just caught your first pokemon! What are you going to do next?? Moo asked.

Celest walked over and picked up the ball. She sent out Pidgey and it lay on the ground, hurt and tired. She kneeled down and picked it up. ?It looks hurt. Is there anyway I can heal it?? she asked

?Yeah, a Pokemon Center.? Moo said.

?Where is this center?? Celest asked still looking at Pidgey.

Moo sweatdropped. ?Well, uh, you see? we?re in Pallet town right now. There is no pokemon center in Pallet.?

?Then how am I supposed to help Pidgey?? Celest asked looking at Moo with wide eyes.

?Well, Professor Oak lives here. He should have something in his lab to help us??

?Okay then! To Professor Oak?s Laboratory!? Celest was about to walk out of the alley way, but turned to Moo. ?Uh, where exactly is this lab??

?Down the street,? Moo replied. Celest smiled at walked towards the big whit laboratory down the street. Moo followed at her feet, and Pidgey in her arms.

Celest knocked on the doors of the laboratory. She had put Pidgey back in its pokeball but still thought it needed care. She had also discovered that Moo was a little worn out from the fight and decided she would him too when they got there.

After a while, a short man with crazy black hair and huge glasses with a whit laboratory suit on answered the door.

?Hello, welcome to Professor Oak?s Laboratory. How may I help you?? he asked.

?Uh, I just caught a Pidgey and my pokemon are hurt. Do have something that could heal them?? Celest asked.

The short man looked at Celest for a while and then said. ?Are you from around here??

Celest didn?t know what to say. Something told her she didn?t want to say she was from another planet called Earth and had no idea where she was really, or what was going on. But she had to something.

?Uh, not really,? Celest said and looked at Moo for help.

?Um, we just moved here from Cinnabar Island,? Moo said catching Celest?s eye and coming up with a plan.

For the first time the short man noticed Moo and was shocked. ?A red rattata?! And to make it better, this one can talk! This is a great discovery!? Moo stepped back behind Celest?s leg. The short man looked back up at Celest. ?Please, please, come in!? He said coaxing Celest in side.

Moo climbed up Celest leg and sat on her shoulder. He didn?t feel too safe on the ground. Celest was okay with it. She has had tons of things sit on her shoulder. From wild squirrels, to tamed birds, Celest has seen it all.

The short man led Celest down a hall way to a small work room. Inside Celest could see the back of someone in a white laboratory suit as well. The short man next to Celest got the taller man?s attention by clearing his throat. The taller man stopped mumbling and stood up and turned around.

?Theodore, I don?t have time for your- Oh, who are you?? asked the tall man when he saw Celest.

?I?m Celest McFerend and I came here to heal my pokemon,? Celest said.

?I?m Professor Oak, and that is my assistant, Theodore. I live here at the laboratory, and I would be glad to help your pokemon,? the tall man said. ?Please come with me.?

He walked out of the room and down another hallway. Celest and Theodore followed him. Celest didn?t know why Theodore came, but had a funny feeling it had to do with Moo, because the whole time he kept glancing nervously at the red pokemon. Moo, on the other hand kept his eye on Theodore at all times and never left the safety of Celest?s shoulder.

After a while, they entered another room. In this room were many shelves with bottle and packages, all of which looked like healing devices. In the center of the room was giant machine. It had a computer on one side and a flat black top with six small dents in it.

?Please, place your pokeballs here,? Said Professor Oak referring to the dents on the black top. Celest reached in her pocket and pulled out Pidgey?s ball. She pushed the button to make it bigger and put it in the dent. She also put Moo in one hole. This was the first time the professor was noticing the red rodent.

?Wait! What is this? A red rattata? This is? amazing!? Professor Oak cried.

?Yeah, so. I also don?t like to be tested, so could you just heal us and get it over with, because four eyes over there is scaring me,? Moo said.

?Moo!? Celest scolded the rattata for being rude, but then again, it was hard to blame him. Theodore was looking at Moo with hungry eyes and Professor Oak was just amazed.

?You- you spoke!? Professor Oak said. ?This is amazing!?

?Uh, I think Moo is right? about the whole, healing thing that is. Why don?t we just get this over with so I can be on my way? I have a lot of things to do,? Celest said. Truth be told Celest did have a lot things to do and she knew that. She just had no idea what they were.

?Err, your right. Theodore, please get the machine started,? Professor Oak said turning to Theodore.

Theodore nodded and walked over to a little keyboard on the side of the giant machine. He typed in a few things and Celest watched at the machine made little beeping sounds and red light passed over Moo and Pidgey?s pokeball. When the process was over Moo jumped back onto Celest?s shoulder and Celest picked up Pidgey?s pokeball.

?How you feeling Moo?? she asked the rodent on her shoulder.

Moo smiled. ?Better than ever,? he said

?Good. We?ll see how Pidgey is when we get out side. I?m afraid it?ll fly around and break something in here,? Celest said.

She turned to Professor Oak and Theodore. ?Theodore, will you please show this young lady to the door? I have lots of work to do. Thank you for stopping by though,? the professor said.

?Thank you for helping my pokemon,? Celest said. And with that she followed Theodore out of the room.

After a while they reached the big front doors. Theodore opened it for Celest. Celest thanked him and then with one last look at Moo, he watched them walk out the door.

Celest watched at Theodore closed the door behind her. The first thing she did was breath in the fresh air. It was still morning, but not as golden as before. That was okay with Celest because it was still beautiful.

Moo jumped off Celest?s shoulder and stood in front of her. ?Okay, to start off, that place creeped me out. Mostly because of Thoedork, or what his name was. But that?s off the subject. Right now we need to focus on pokemon journey. You have two pokemon now, we should be fine. And you know how to battle and that, so let?s go,? he said. He turned and walked down the path to a small forest.

Celest was vaguely reminded of the small forest out side her house on the planet Earth. It was probably squirming with excitement. Celest was curious as to what was happening in the forest at her house, but even more excited about the present time. She was on another planet following a red talking rat into a mysterious forest.

Not too far into the forest Celest?s stomach growled. Moo looked up. ?Oh, yeah, it?s breakfast time. We better find something to eat. I?ll go check in these bushes for berries or something, you check the trees for apples and pears and that stuff,? he said.

Celest?s first reaction was surprise that they ate real food in this world. So far everything had been so different, that Celest was expecting totally different food. Anyway, she was pretty happy they had normal food, instead of brains and stuff. Celest shuddered at the thought and decided to look for fruit then.

Moo rushed through bushes, looking for any sign of food. So far he had had no such luck. He sighed and sat down out side a small bush. He was tired and hungry, mostly hungry. And he also had the feeling something was following him.

?Naw,? he said to himself. ?You?re just expecting that science freak, Theodore to come up and minuet now and grab you.?

As soon as he said that, the tall pile of bushes across from him rattled. Moo stood up and watched intently as they moved and rattled for a little bit. After a while a sharp blade shot out at Moo. He cried and jumped out of the way.

He landed and looked at the bushes. Following the blade stepped out a giant green monster. It was about four feet high and looked kind of like a giant praying mantis. It had small wings on the back and a fierce face. But the thing that grabbed Moo?s attention was the hands, or rather the two giant, razor sharp blades where the hands should have been.

?Scyther!? the giant bug cried a battle cry. Apparently Moo had stepped onto the wrong turf.

?Uh, I-I?m sorry M-Mr. Scy-Scyther. I-I?ll just be on my way then? heh heh,? Moo stammered as he slowly backed up to the bushes.

?Scy!? The scyther screamed. He slammed his blade down behind the retreating rattata. He wasn?t going to let Moo get away. ?Scy scy! Scyther! Scyther scy!? The scyther cried.

?What do you mean you had a bad? I almost got tested on by some freak at a lab!? Moo cried.

?Scyther scy! Scy scy scy scyther! Therscy!? The giant bug exclaimed.

?What? You?ve been being chased around by some kid too? Well then, I guess you can say we have something in common, so I?ll just leave,? Moo prepared to turn around but the scyther kept his blade in the ground. Moo turned back the angry scyther. He was shaking now. ?Help?? He whimpered.

Almost as if to answer his prayer, something jumped out of the bushes and tackled the scyther.

?Sentret!? the brown squirrel like pokemon said as it landed on the ground nest to a fallen scyther.

?Yeah! Good job, Sentret!? cried a voice from the bushes. Moo recognized it as a male human voice.

Moo looked at the bushes just in time to see a boy pop up from the bushes. He moved into the shadows a bit, but he could still see the boy. He looked about Celest?s age. He wore a red shirt and there was a black shirt underneath it. He also had a yellow bandanna on top of his moppy brown hair. He had cacky pants that you could unzip the bottom and make them shorts. He also had blue biker gloves and a red backpack slung over one of his shoulders.

Scyther stood up and growled at the boy. This kid was obviously the kid that had made Scyther so angry he had wanted to hurt Moo so badly.

?Sentret, use fury swipes and take out this scyther once and for all!? the boy cried.

Sentret jumped at the scyther and swiped at him and then jumped back. Scyther was angry now. He swung on big claw at the over grown squirrel.

?Quick Sentret jump out of the way than use quick attack!?

Moo watched, amazed, as Sentret jumped out the way and landed behind Scyther only to start running circles around him. Scyther was confused and was getting weak with the confusion.

?Good job! Now use tackle to finish it off!? the boy cried.

?Sentret!? Sentret jumped from the side of scyther and knocked him down. This time the bug didn?t get up. ?Pokeball, go!? the boy yelled as he threw a pokeball at the fallen scyther.

The ball released the red light that sucked Scyther into it. The ball wiggled a bit, but stopped with a deep beep. The boy cheered at hugged his sentret. ?We did it, buddy! We caught Scyther! Yeah! We?re going to be the best team of all! Yeah!?

Sentret! Sentret!? Sentret cried happily.

Moo chose this time to come out of the shadows. Something told him he needed to thank the boy for saving him. But he also was mad at the boy for getting him into trouble in the first place. Then again, this boy was an excellent trainer! He was the trainer Moo was hoping Celest would become. He got an idea.

The boy stopped celebrating when he heard Moo move from under the bushes. ?Look, Sentret! Awesome! A red rattata!? The boy said as he crouched down to be level with Moo.

?Yes, your not the first person to notice, trust me,? Moo said with a heavy sigh. ?My name is Moo.?

?Whao! It talks too!?

?Yeah, nice to meet you too,? Moo said sarcastically.

?Oh, I?m sorry. I?m Trake Needle,? the boy said as he held out a hand for Moo to shake. Moo reached out with his tiny paw and shook it and then looked sincerely at the boy named Trake.

?Thank you for helping me get rid of that scyther. If you hadn?t come I would be in a million different pieces right now. But then again, you?re the one that made it so made it wanted to kill me,? Moo said and Trake sweatdropped.

?Oh yeah, sorry about that.?

Moo waved it off with his paw and then looked yet again at Trake. ?I know this is asking too much after you just had a battle, but can I ask you a favor??

?Sure. What is it?? Trake asked

Celest walked back to the place she had last left Moo. She had a few apples, a couple of pears, and some grapes she found on a grape vine. She set her findings down on a log and called out Moo?s name.

?Moo! I have some fruit! Breakfast is ready! Moo! Come here little rattata!? As if on cue the bushes rustled and Moo walked out.

?There you ar- wait, what he doing here?!? she cried as Trake also climbed out of the bushes.

?Ugh! Not you again! Don?t tell me this is the girl you told me about!? Trake yelled frustratingly at Moo.

Moo was shocked at the sudden out bursts. ?Wait! You two know each other?! How is that possible??

Celest grunted. ?Sherlock over there bumped into me when I was picking apples and made me drop like ten of them and didn?t even stop to help me,? she said.

?Hey! You were in my way! I was on a very important mission to catch that scyther! And thanks to you I almost lost him!? Trake yelled at her.

?Oh yeah! Well you?re just a rude little freak that wouldn?t help a helpless bird get away from a cat if you had all the time in the world!? Celest yelled back at him.

?I would too!?

?Would not!?

?Would too!?

?Would not!?

?Would too!?

?Stop it!!!!? Moo yelled over the bickering. To him this was the most stupid thing in the world to fight about, but he couldn?t really help it, and suddenly regretted bringing Trake here, but he thought it was best to just go with the plan.

Trake and Celest stopped bickering and both looked at Moo in surprise. Moo sighed. ?I?m going to regret this later,? he muttered to himself and looked up at the two teens. ?Okay, listen to me. You two will be traveling with each other for a while now, so you have to get used to each other.?

?WHAT?!? Both yelled. ?There is no way I am traveling with him/her!?

?Trake, listen. This is a very long story. Basically Celest is from a different world, but don?t you dare tell anyone that or I will come after you! I?m serious! Anyway, being a new to this world, she desperately needs another trainer to accompany her on her journey. And since you?re such a talented trainer, you would be perfect!? Moo said.

Trake grunted. ?What?s in it for me?? he asked.

Moo sighed. ?At my old home in the burned tower, after my trainer abandoned me and before I moved to Pallet, there is a small hole in the wall off to the side that only I can get in. In there is a lot of money. I will hire you and pay you $5000 when we get there.? Moo looked up at Trake with pleading eyes. ?Will you please come with us??

Trake thought about it. Five-thousand dollars was a lot of money. Trake fought back tears. This was just what he needed?.

**Flashback**

Trake watched with fear at the man he called father slapped his mother again on the cheek.

?That ought to teach you, Darlene! I told you to kill the boy! He?s nothing but trouble!? Trake?s father yelled.

Trake?s mom was sobbing and heaving. She had gone through too much trying to save her son. This wasn?t the first time Mr. Needle had beaten up his wife or his son for that matter. He did it a lot, but this time it was serious. For some reason he wanted Trake dead, and had threatened his wife if she didn?t kill the teen soon. The mother had refused, and now she was being beaten.

Trake watched from the other side of the room. His mom was a crippled mess, and he was crying. He knew that if he went to help her, he would only get them in more trouble.

The father slapped Trake?s mom one more time. ?Fine, if you don?t kill him, I will! Don?t move! I?m going to get my gun.? He glared at Trake and walked into the next room.

Trake didn?t waste anytime in grabbing his mom and running as fast as he could with her in his arms. He ran to the closed hospital, and realized she was in horrible condition. Surgery would cost a lot of money.

So, he had started his pokemon journey, leaving his mom at the hospital. He was going to become a pokemon master with in a few months, so he could pay for the surgery.

**End flashback**

Trake held the tears in. Five-thousand dollars would pay for the surgery for sure! And then he wouldn?t have to strive so hard to become the world?s best pokemon trainer in a matter of months.

Trake looked at Moo and smiled. ?You got a deal! I stick with you guys for a while, you give me the money,? he said. ?We?ll shake on it.? Trake once again held out a hand for Moo to shake. Moo smiled and took it.

Celest moaned. ?Hey! What about me? Doesn?t anyone care what I think??

?No,? said Trake standing up his full height.

?Yes Celest, we do,? Moo said. ?But trust me on this one. Without Trake, you will be lost for forever! Plus traveling with him will give you more experience for the more important task ahead.?

Celest moaned again. ?Well this is just great! I can tell this will suck! I hardly know this guy and I already hate him!?

?Hate is a strong word,? Moo said.

?Don?t lecture me! I get enough of that from my mom!?

Trake looked at the ground. At least yours can speak and isn?t in a hospital right now, he thought.

The rest of the ?day? went by with little talking and a lot of walking. Celest and Moo explained to Trake everything about the crystal and the whole night thing. Trake also showed Celest some new pokemon and got her familiar with some attacks. The day seemed to go by fast, and by night fall the small group had reached the first major city on their quest, Viridian City.

They got a room in a motel and not too long after dinner, the group got to the doors of their rooms. They had gotten two separate rooms, one for Trake, and one for Celest and Moo.

They said good night and walked into their rooms. Celest took a quick shower and got into bed. She hadn?t really bought pajamas yet, so she just decided to ?sleep? in the clothes she had.

After saying good night to Moo, Celest turned out the light making the room pitch black. But it wasn?t like that for long because soon the crystal around Celest?s neck shown brightly, and as fast as it came, left, taking Celest with it.

Celest opened her eyes and looked around her room. She was back on Earth. As soon as she was completely conscious, she suddenly realized how uncomfortable she was in the small pajamas in the tiny bed. She got dressed and walked down stairs to see her mom making breakfast.

?Hello honey. How was your night last night?? she asked.

Celest shrugged. ?Hmm, okay, I guess.?

?Well that?s good.?

Celest was silent for a while and then said, ?Mom, you know my pj?s Gran bought me for 10th birthday??

Celest?s mom stopped cooking and looked at Celest. ?Yeah. What about them??

Celest looked at the apple she was eating and said quietly, ?They?re too small.?

Ms. McFerend was astonished. ?Wha-what did you say??

Celest looked at her mom and said again a little louder, ?They?re too small for me now. I had trouble getting to sleep last night.?

Her mom looked like she was about ready to explode with joy. Her face was red with excitement and her eyes were al wide as quarters. Celest just had to smile at the giant grin that covered her mom?s face. But some how Ms. McFerend was able to conceal her excitement and said calmly, ?Well, then, we should buy you new ones, won?t we??

Celest looked back at her apple. She was really smiling now. ?Yes. I guess we should,? she said and smiled at her mom.

Ms. McFerend chose this time to let it all out. ?Oh my goodness!! I have to call your grandma, and your aunt and uncle! Oh I have to tell Cheri, and Jennifer, and Troy, and- My baby finally decided to sleep!?

Now to you this might seem like a stupid thing to fret about, but when your daughter hasn?t slept for 16 years, you just can?t help but let it all out.

So later that day, Celest found herself at Target walking down the isle of clothing and picking out pajama?s. She also called Libby and told her of the new idea to get more sleep. Libby?s first reaction was to invite Celest to a sleep over just for her.

Celest waited the day though happily, anxious for the night to come when she could go to the wonderful place of Pokemon!

To be continued?

A/N: Sorry it took so long. As you can see this is the longest one yet. At one point in time I was going to have Celest and Trake fight over that Scyther that Trake caught, but it never really came to me how to do that, and I was already half way through that part. Anyway, if you?ve been paying attention to my last author notes, you will notice that I didn?t have a plot. Yeah, forget that! I have one, and have had one all along; I was just too stupid to realize it. Anyway, hope you enjoyed chapter 3. The 4th one will be coming real soon.
