The Origin of Hate A/N: Hey, guys! I'm sorry this chap's so short, but I'll give ya the next three to make up for it. If I owned pokemon, well, you know. CHAPTER 3 There was smoke in the air. Kasumi got a good whiff of it before diving right down the stairs to escape the fumes. She had no idea where the stench was coming from, so she turned on the radio. “We have a breaking news report here from 12 Petalburg Lane. It seems a fi-” Misty was out the door before the reporter could finish her sentence. * * * May’s house was gone. Her entire family was dead along with it. The worst part was that the last thing she’d said to Max was ‘Get out of my life!’. How ironic. Haruka had been weeping by some of the smoldering remains when Misty came over to comfort her (strangely). “I’m sorry, May. Ash says you can stay at his house,” she paused and cursed under her breath, “for at least a while…” “Go away! I hate you!” May roared. She got up and shoved Misty away. Misty shoved back. Haruka tripped over a branch and fell into the dying flames. “Hurry out!” as much as Misty hated May, she hated death more. “No. If I die, I’m going to die, it ought to be with my family,” May snottily retorted. “Ma-ay! You can’t die!” “You’re right. I can’t.” May sat in the flames for a couple minutes. Misty started to eye her suspiciously. “Ready to run?” Misty took the advice and ran, ran, ran all the way back to the Pokemon Center. May’s desperate frown turned into a slight evil grin… * * * Ash was sitting in the Petalburg Pokemon Center. He was with everyone else who cared about May and her family. May was watching the flames die down and he hadn’t heard of Misty in weeks! Not. Misty bursted through the Pokemon Center doors and shouted, “There’s something wrong with May!” Ash looked up and saw the shocked impression on Kasumi’s face. “What?” He asked. “You better not be lying,” he said, as he started out the door. Kasumi looked at his fleeting figure with new interest. She had to find out why he would say such a thing! She sighed and rushed out the door to chase after Ash’s bike, tripping and falling as she went. * * * Review, review, review!
