Chapter One

"Thank you, Nurse Joy," said Lisa while bowing awkwardly. The new trainer sighed,” It was a tough Pidgey to take on, you see, we only started our training a week ago. That was at least on level twenty, and my Bulbasaur was trying to protect us."

She picked up the cooing Bulbasaur off the desk and set it on the ground. Happily, he walked over to his trainer and rubbed its head affectionately on her leg. The nurse smiled.

"He must love you a lot," She turned to the two trainers standing next to Lisa.” Your Pokemon will be out of their check-ups in a few minutes." She walked into the check-up room and disappeared from view.

The girl standing next to Lisa sat in a waiting and looked up at her to friends, grinning.

"She's right Lisa. It's a good thing Bulbasaur was out of his Pokeball really, he was quite brave, and I'm sure that high-leveled Pidgey's gust would have sent us to the Seafoam Islands and back!” She kneeled down and scratched Bulbasaur behind his ears.

The boy took out his Pokedex.

"Well," he started, typing furiously,” It wasn't a complete loss, battling the Pidgey. See," he held out the Pokedex,” Bulbasaur grew to level 12."

            Lisa hugged Bulbasaur.

"Nice one, Lisa." said the girl.” And thanks, Keith. I guess it's okay to have my nerdy friend on this journey."

Nurse Joy walked out of the check-up room pushing a stretcher. On it was a Charmander (level 10) and a Squirtle (level 11)."Danielle, Keith! Your Pokemon are back! They're doing fine." Keith and Danielle ran over to their Pokemon. Danielle picked up her Squirtle and gave him a hug, and Keith gave his Charmander a high-five.

The three friends made their way to the Center's cafeteria to pick up food for their journey, and then walked out the door in the direction of Viridian Forest.

                                                              ***

"Are we there yet?" Keith whined. The trainer had been walking for five minutes, and they had just reached the outskirts of the dark and dreary forest.

"No, Keith," Danielle sighed,” Pewter city is on the other side of the forest. You should know that, you won the Kanto Geography Bee last year."

"Yeah, but, why is it taking so long?"

"We've been walking for ten minutes!"

"Guys, stop fighting! We're in Viridian Forest! There are currently ten types of Pokemon living here, maybe even more!" Lisa interrupted her friends bickering.

Danielle got stars in her eyes. "Just think of all the Pokemon I can catch! Won't this be exiting?" Keith looked at her with a disgusted look.

"What about me? I can catch some Pokemon, too. Remember, I have a Sentret and a Pidgey." He patted his starter Pokeball and the two occupied ones next to it.

"So? You'd still not be able to catch any lasting Pokemon."

            "What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means you're such an irresponsible ass you'd probably forget to feed them!"

"I feed the Pokemon I have now!"

"That's because there are only three of them and it doesn't take that long so you don't find it to be a nuisance."

            "Huh?"

            "YOU'RE LAZY AND IRISPONSIBLE!"

"STOP IT" Lisa shouted, fed up with their non-stop fighting. Gosh, she thought, they are always fighting; maybe they just really like each other! She stifled a giggle and looked over at her two friends. Danielle's arms were crossed, and her messy light-brown hair was hanging over her eyes. Keith's brown-hair was short and combed, but had been a little frazzled after the fight. Yep, she thought, they're a couple.

Suddenly, the forest became darker and a hell of a lot more dense.

            "Keith whimpered.

"Come on, Keith," said Danielle, grabbing his arm and dragging him down the path.” You’re such a chicken. I'm not scared, Lisa's not scared," Lisa smiled weakly.

"Well," started Keith,” I do want to catch a Weedle. My cousin has one and she says that after only three days of training it, it evolved into Kakuna. And then after only another seven days it evolved into a Beedrill! Really, guys, you should see it battle! It knows Twinneedle, Poison Powder, Cut, and other stuff..."

Danielle rolled her eyes and let go of his arm hastily. Oh boy, she thought, here we go again with the moron's extremely entertaining three hour novel...

"... I was so scared he would loose for sure ageist that Charizard. I mean, it was a fire Pokemon and he was a bug, I thought my cousin was crazy for not calling Beedrill back, but she had Beedrill use Sleep Powder and the rest was easy for her..."

"SHUT UP!" Lisa and Danielle roared." YOU’RE SCARIN' ALL THE BLOODY POKEMON!"

Chapter Two

"Look, guys!" Lisa whispered. "It's a Caterpie!" Lisa's sudden news brought smiles to the other trainer's faces and broke their long, quite trip.

"I'm gonna catch it! Watch!" Keith ran towards the bug. "Charmander, attack!" He through his Pokeball at the sky.

"Caterpie! Pie!" The little Caterpie scampered into the forest as quickly as his suction-cup feet would let him.

Charmander's Pokeball hit the ground and opened up.

"Char?" it said, looking at its master quizzically. "Charmanderchar Charmander Mander? (Master, where are all the Pokemon)"

"Keith scared them all away!" Danielle shouted, turning to Keith. "You are just so good at ruining everything!"

"It was a mistake! I'm just a beginner anyways."

"So am I, and I don't screw up every second!"

Charmander sweatdropped at the fighting and turned to the edge of the clearing they were standing in. It saw something crawling down a tree...

            "CHAR! CHAR!"

They all heard the cry but Lisa had turned first.

"It's back! Look, the Caterpie's back! Go Bulbasaur!" she threw the Pokeball.

            "Bulba!"

            "Vine Whip the Caterpie, Bulbasaur!"

"Saur!" Vines shot out of the Pokemon's back and sped out towards the Caterpie. The vines grabbed it and threw the bug up into the air. Lisa threw a Pokeball at it and watched the creature get sucked inside.

"Yeah!" she yelled, jumping in the air and then picking up the Pokeball. "I'm gonna give you and my other Pokemon some time out of your Pokeballs so you can get to Know each other." She threw her three other Pokeballs into the air. "Go Pidgey, go Caterpie, go Rattata!"

Danielle took her four Pokeballs and did the same. " Go, Squirtle! Go, Spearow! Go, Rattata! Go, Pidgey!"

Keith patted his Charmander and followed the suit. "Go, Pidgey, go, Senteret!"

The three friends managed to talk without fighting as they walked down the forest path with their Pokemon frolicking ahead of them. As they talked, Keith and Danielle's eyes met, and something amazing happened. They understood each other, there was more to both of them. Danielle blushed and Keith hid his face by looked down, pretending to fiddle with a Pokeball.

Danielle looked away from him and smiled. They were friends. Danielle felt something argue inside of her.

No, she thought. Keith is more than a friend, and Lisa is like my sister, it had been like that since I met them when I was three. We're a trio, and we are going to stick together. It's our time.
