Chapter 2-Preparation

I understood the chaos in the lab. They just reopened this lab here, after many years of it being closed. Even though it's been four years since this project started, and they knew this lab was going to be used for it, they did no preparation of it. This left the scientists in a rut, for they needed to prepare the lab themselves, even for just my tank to be here. So they had to completly prepare the lab for his transformation. This could take a while.

I sighed, still inside my tank. Knowing that this lab wasn't ready for the experiment was an uneasy peice of knowledge. I wanted to be with him, but I could not leave the lab. If I tried to leave, Jake would beat the crap out of me. I hated him, moreso, I hated his level of control over me. I was willing to bet that he could get away with almost anything. I accidently gave him an evil glare as he entered the room.

"Mina!!" he screamed, completly pissed off.

"I'm sorry sir," I said, lowering my head.

"You should never glare at me like that."

Since I was in the tank, he decided to push buttons on some sort of remote. This remote linked to my control collar. The command he entered gave me a small electric shock. I flinched, noting that it was only a small shock, but it still frightened me.

"Jake, why must you be such a jerk?" Christopher asked, quickly retreating.

"Why must you be in her defense? Why not save that job for her mate?"

"Because he is not here to defend her."

"Oh, really? And Why is that??"

"It's because..."

"Is it because you let her chose a human for a mate??"

Christopher nodded, there was no way he was going to win. Jake stared at him for quite some time, a most unconfortable feeling for anyone. I understood why we preferred to refrain from making him angry. I know his anger, for I have experienced it first hand. That man was dangerous with his black bullwhip. It was worse after they hooked up the control collars. I was lucky he didn't test the collar's full power.

The other scientists watched in horror as Christopher tried to defend me, but they knew it was useless. After that bout settled down, they went back to their jobs. Again it was caous. They just had to get all the machines in place and operational. Cloning was dangerous enough, but this would be the first time they have tried to genetically resequence a human to our breed. I knew that my choice may end up killing an inocent life, but I didn't really make the choice. I simply fell in love with a human, they chose to pair us up. That pair up was bad..for it meant that they would have to make him our species.

I looked at the screens again, seeing J-Mac on the main deck of his ship. I bet he loved his job. I then noticed that Jake was also looking at the screens.

"I have your girfriend," he said to the screens. "And soon you will be mine too."

I saw him smirk has he picked up his whip. He spent the next ten minutes hitting the screens with the whip, almost as if the screens really were J-Mac. He then looked back at me.

"Mina, he's so never going to forget the day he meets me," he smirked at me.

"Jake, why don't you put the whip d..o..w..n," Christopher gestured.

"You wish to start again with me, you POS scientist?"

"No, Sir."

"Good..Then shut up."

Christopher went back to the screens. He continued working quietly. With a wireless keyboard, he pulled up a map of J-Mac's exact location. The map showed on one of the screens. Christopher seemed to be testing the implants they used on poor J-Mac.

"Well at least his implants work properly," Christopher commented aloud.

It's been six months, and I have been loving the classes at ITT. I have made a few new friends, and they are pretty cool. I knew that I should at least try to hide the information that I had regarding the government's experiment. I also knew that it would be hard, for I know knew it was all real. I had the day off from class, so I was enjoying the cruise that the NorthStar was taking. It was our winter cruise, which is better every year.

This year, we were going to have a few music groups at the main stage on Christmas Eve. We were lucky enough to get Toby Mac, Will Smith, and a few others. Diane could really pull strings. I would be so lost without her.

I stood on the main deck, enjoying the Carribean sunshine. I really loved my job. Not that many people my age were able to do as much as I have. Not only did I help faction this vessel for an old friend of mine, but when he died, he willed it back to me. I then signed with the Federation of Planets, as the new head of Federation. Giving the name NorthFleet to the Federation. The technology on this ship was amazing, it even surprised the Aquilians how well I had done with their technology.

"~Sir, the Aquillian High Councel wishes to meet with you in your ready room,~" Pat called out over the intercom.

"Thank you, Pat, I'll be right there."

Pat, one hell of a computer. She has been so loyal and helpful these past years. She barely ever let herself get out of line, even though she was "Artificially Intelligent." I loved her for that aspect, if not only for the barriers she blew away when her technology was developed. I went to one of the lifts, taking it to deck one. Deck one was basically a giant bridge, with three or four rooms on the sides. One of those rooms was my ready room. I walked off the lift, and straight into my ready room.

"Hello," I greeted. "You wished to speak with me?"

"Yes," cames Ja-Ren's reply.

"What is this about, Ja-Ren?"

"I'm afraid we have interesting, possibly bad, news for you. It also requires action on your part."

"What kind of action?"

"This may sound peculiar, but we need you to begin researching about the breed known on your planet as Mewtwo."

"Why?"

"We recieved information that the Renegada have indeed given the US Government genetics and technology. They may use the technology and genetics to create the species known on your planet as Pokemon."

"What the..?" I cut myself off. "But those creatures don't exist."

"They don't exist on your planet, yet, but we fear that will be changing soon. Those creatures have existed on our planet for centries. Possibly longer than we have been on our planet."

"Well, it does sound odd, but I'm very open-minded. My only question is...What will become of Earth after they create these creatures?"

"We are not sure, but they may be using you as a guena pig."

"For what?"

"To try out something called Genetic Resequencing."

"Why?"

"We are not sure, but they may be turning you into a Mewtwo."

Well this makes perfect sense, first I hear about this from Dra Gen, that good for nothing Renegade Captain. Then I read that file, which apparently was my file. Now the AHC is telling me the same thing. This could also explain why I was recieving slight telepathic messages from the spirits, and someone claiming to be my mother, Mew. I was almost afriad to focus those abilities, now I kind of want to focus them. Just to see what will happen.

Just then, the ship completly blacked out. I tried to goto the bridge, but the power doors didn't open. What was odd was that emergency power had not kicked in yet. I grabbed a door clamp, and forced the doors open. There was noone in the bridge. I looked around, then back at the AHC. They gave me frightened looks, as if they knew something was wrong.

I almost called for Pat to explain what was going on, but I realized that was fruitless. I wandered around the bridge for a few minutes, before we headed to the stairway. Half tempted to go downstars, I began to go to the stairs, heading down to the belly of the ship. Ja-Ren quickly corrected me and suggested we went back to the main deck.

If the AHC didn't come to me upon signing the ships here of earth to the Federation, I propably would have been lost, or taken easily. I was only 17 when the USS NorthStar was willed to me. I then added the technology, allowing for the ship to travel in space, with warp/transwarp technology. The ship could already fly, float, and dive, so I figured space travel would be an easy next step. I was surprised how right I was. Ja-Ren was probably the kindest Aquillian I have met. Most people just stare at them when they are here. I figured its the leopard spots, and people of earth aren't used to seeing naturally "spotted" people.

Although the same people can easily blow off the apparence of Stephen, my chief of security, why can they not blow off the apparences of the Aquillians? Is it possibly because they know that I was the one who caused Stephens transformation? I hope not, because that would mean that these people know way too much. Anyways, Stephen was getting the same problem when he first signed back on after the procedure. I guess the people just got used to him being there.

Speaking of the devil, we came across Stephen on our way up to the main deck. By the looks of it, he had engaged in hand-to-hand combat with somone, and was severly scarred from it. Apparently, he had lost that fight, which is not common for him. He looked at me, the anger of his loss still in his eyes.

"You ok, Stephen?" I asked, sort of afraid of the answer.

"No, sir," he replied. "The fucking bastards that fucked up our ship beat the shit out of me and got away."

"You mean it was more than one person."

"Ya..more like eight people, with creatures similar to myself."

Stephanie came running up the stairs.

"Finally I see somone I recognize," she hollered, apparently seeing us. Then looking at Stephen. "What the hell happened? Are you ok?"

"I'll live," he replied, his eyes lighting up.

"Where you coming from Stephanie?" I asked her.

"I was down at astrometrics and engieneering. There were people I do not know there, and it looks like most of the crew is missing."

"The bridge cleared out quickly when the light went out. What happened?"

"I dunno, I was at the helm when I heard people taking the crew. I hid in an access panel. From there I watched as these people in black suits were dragging crew members away in chains."

I lowered my head, not wanting to hear any more. It's never a good thing when someone mentions people in black suits. Especially when it also includes the words "taking people away in chains." I had a pretty good idea who did this to my ship, but where did they take my crew, and why?

I had the odd feeling that the men who did this did a head count, and knew they were missing crewmen. So they may be waiting at the top of the staircase to pick up whoever comes out. So I took my small group back dowstairs, almost bumping into an armada of agents. We quickly hid, and continued when it cleared. Back at the bridge, I went to a small hatch. I opened the hatch, revealing a huge mass of tunnels inside the ships walls.

The G-Tubes, which are these tunnels, spanned the entire ship. They allowed us to access the ship in places the general public usually does not see. Really helpful when it came to repairs. They also served as an emergency exit, whenever necessary. I felt this was one of those times. There would be noone waiting at these hatches on the main deck, and if there was someone there, we would be able to see them without them seeing us.

We crawled through the G-Tubes to a ladder. The ladder lead to the G-Tubes on the main deck. I sat just inside one of the access hatches on the main deck. Stepanie, helping Stephen were the last two in the G-Tube, and she closed the hatch downstairs. I saw three people in front of the hatch door, so we waited.

It cleared about twenty minutes later. That was when I opened the hatch. It was all clear. So I quickly helped the rest of the group out of the G-Tube. We then snuck back to my house.

For the next four hours, we watched as the men wandered around the ship. I saw enough of them to note that they all had CIA crudentials. I couldn't help but think that they were here for either me, or Stephen, or something in the lab.

After they left, we returned to the main engieneering room. We quickly tried to restore power to the ship. Ja-Ren and I went to the main computer control room. Without power the ship was difficult to navigate. We found out why there was no power. They cut open the main power control box and turned everything off. We spent the next hour replacing the control box. After doing so, we were able to successfully restore power to the ship.

"Where is everyone?" Pat asked, upon restarting.

"I dunno, but apparently the CIA has them." I replied.

"Why?"

"I don't know"

"Well then I am so grounding myself. There is no point in operating without a crew."

"Understood."

Gee. Almost like she read my mind. I was just thinking that as well. But of course it was also standard NFS Protocol for vessels without crews to not operate until the crew returns, or until the crew is replaced. I didn't want to replace my crew, because it would mean re-training a co-captian and a co-co-captain. I still wanted to know what it was they were looking for. Pat then informed me that someone tried to access something in the lab. That made me curious as to what they were looking for.
