Disclaimer: J-Mac (Drako) and Mina mate..so be warned. Inside the Lab-Chapter 7-Transformation Well, like the mean, crazy bastards these people are, they put me to sleep, again. I was begining to resent how often I was actually asleep, but as long as I dreamed with Mina, I knew I was still alive. I don't know how long I was asleep, but when I woke again, the clock seemed to read about 8 hours later. This time it was much more obvious that I was not a human. I don't even know if I had any human left in me, for I looked like Mina, only I was mostly an off- white grey. What bugged me was the violet/black stomach and tail. The scientists were still working, all of them at their workstations. I knew this type of thing all too well, being the captain of the NFS NorthStar. I recognized the command structure. The other scientists obeyed Christopher. Christopher obeyed Jake, and Jake had to deal with the CIA leaders. The list just sort of continues, but here it was Jake and Christopher. There was a female scientist at the console closest to my tank. She was looking at what appeared to be my vitals on her moniter. I watched as something happened and one of the graphs sort of shot upwards. Then it started to blink, apparently causing some sort of alert. "Christopher," she called out. "I think somethings wrong!!" "What!!" Christopher cried out. Mina got up again, she knew this tone. "Um," I stammered, speaking with my mind. "I'm fine, I just woke up." Christopher looked at me, then gave a look of relief. "Dammit, Shelly!!" he yelled at her. "It was only the EEG!! You should have checked to see if he woke up." "Sorry, sir," Shelly replied, lowering her head. "Mew??" Mina piped in, curious about me. "He's alright, Mina," Christopher told her. "Now, how long have you been up?" "Long enough." I replied, getting used to using my mind to speak. "Now how long do I have to be here?" "If you last through the night," he started, suddenly being interrupted. "IF????? He better last through the night!!" Mina 'screamed' out. "Alright," he continued. "After you last through the night without any problems, we may be able to let you out of the tank." "I can live with that." I replied. What was really in my head was more like, "Let me the hell out of here, I want to be with Mina!!!!!" but of course I didn't say that out loud. I didn't want Mina or myself to get in trouble. I was going to be patient, I knew I will be with her tomorrow. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- God, these humans make no sense. They rely on those machines for everything. If they just paid more attention to him being concious or not, it would spare a lot of worry. What makes matters worse was when Christopher continued to behave as though he didn't expect J-Mac to survive the final stages. I mean get a grip, if J-Mac is able to wake up inside the damn tank, with the sedatives still entering his sytem, he's strong enough to survive the final stages. I sat in my cage, watching Christopher approach me. "Mina?" he started. "Ya?" I perked up. "Next time he awakens, I'll make the announcement." "What announcement." "Of our transfer to EC Hughes. The Scool Finished the lease forms, so the building will be ours for a while." EC Hughes? I wondered. Where is that at? Then I recalled an old building in West Seattle. They were trying to transfer us out of the Seattle underground lab, because the lab and most of the Seattle underground were falling apart. So they were moving us to "higher ground" in West Seattle. James McMillen and Shadow have been up there for some time, while the lease stuff gets taken care of. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------- Little did I realize, that the move would happen before my newest creation wakes. Shortly after I spoke with Mina, we got the call. "Well, everythings all set." James said over the phone. "Bring them up." "But what about Drako?" I asked. "He's still asleep in the tank." "Well, Chris, we will transport him to a tank here then. Along with the rest of you." In the shimmer of a transporter beam, everyone dissappeared. Shortly after, they appeared in respective locations in another lab. This time inside the EC Hughes building. "Welcome to our new abode," James greeted us. "We will be here for a while, so get comfortable." "James, where is Drako?" I asked. "Chris, you should know that. He's in the lab." James led the small convoy to a massve lab in the school's sub-basement. Sleeping soundly in on of the tanks was our newest creation. He appeared so peaceful. That was when I realized he was the one strong enough to survive. I also noticed that James Caloy was in the lab, sitting next to the tank. I listened as Mr. Caloy spoke to the creature in the tank. "I'm sorry sir." he started, appearing to be troubled. "I'm sorry for crossing you sir. I have betrayed you. I let them do this. Please forgive me, for I know that you trusted me." "It will be alright," I approached him. "We will take good care of him." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- I woke, quickly noting that I was no longer in the Seattle Underground. For some odd reason though, I did not panic. "Where....am...I?" I was finally able to get out. "Drako, we moved to our new location at EC Hughes." Jake responded. "He made it through the night, release him from the tank." Christopher said to someone at a computer. That person suddenly looked familar. It took me a while, and I kept looking at him. I thought I was going crazy. I kept seeing Jake Caloy, the head developer for CPU. A Federation Legal Agency. "Yes, Sir." he replied to Christopher. Shortly after that, I was being released from the tank. They sort of helped me out, and I was soon shaking the water from my fur. Before I got to do anything else, they fitted me with some sort of electronic collar. To make matters worse, the collar was made of tritanium, and it was a control collar. My tail twitched as James Caloy approached me. "James??" I pondered. "What are you doing here??" "Sir," he started, lowering his head. "I must apologize. I betrayed you to them. I was in leage with them the entire time." "It's alright, you only partially betrayed me. My grandfather was the one who signed me over." They took me to the cage Mina was in later. Explaining how Mina and myself were to be mates, and that I am to be in what they called our cage. I was then locked into the cage with her. We were later taken to a small training ground, and of course they were more hars towards me. I had to be "broken." The training was hard, and I ended up fighting with Shadow at the end. After a few hours of this "training," I'd rahter call it torture, they took us to our cage and locked us there for the night. At least I was with Mina now....
