As we approach the noise, I notice the forest is thinning. Now I can identify the sound. It’s the sound of: Viridian City! I thought that a moment ago we were still on the outskirts of Pallet Town . . . Oh, I guess we found a shortcut. Interesting, though, Viridian is about 3 miles away from Pallet Town and it’s only been 3-5 minutes since we left the lab. Keera and I weren’t even walking! Strange. Maybe a Pokemon teleported us closer. I mean, every stretch of wood looks like the same thing to me, so I probably wouldn’t notice being teleported. Even so, who would help me? As I’m pondering these questions, the Pokemon Center is coming into view. The Pokemon Center, or P.C., is a place where you can heal your Pokemon, rest, buy food, or pick up Pokemon that Professor Oak keeps for you whenever you catch a seventh Pokemon. The reason for this is that if two trainers are battling each other when one has a ton of Pokemon and the other has only 5, that wouldn’t be fair, right? And besides, it’d be hard to carry around all the Pokemon you had caught. Oh, here’s the Pokemon Center. I think I’ll chat to professor oak on the phone. The phone has a screen and video camera so we can see each other. Me: Hello? Professor Oak? *click* Oak: Thanis, is that you? Oh, hi! How did you get to Viridian so fast? Me: That’s what I was wondering. Keera and I were just walking, and here we were! I think we must’ve been teleported. Oak: It sure sounds like it. Hmm, I wonder. . . Well, how are you and Eevee doing? Me: We’re doing fine, Professor. I named Eevee Keera. I can’t believe how fast and strong he is! On the way here, we encountered a growling Poochyena. Keera got rid of it in one move! Oak: Really? Impressive. Me: Yeah! All I ever did was say, “Eevee, use Tackle!” and I won! Oak: Hmm. Good thing you chose Eevee, huh? Me: Yup. Thanks again. Oak: You’re welcome. Have a nice day! *click* I think I’m going to order some food for Eevee and I. I wonder if they have some burritos? Stay tuned for more of this exciting saga!
