Title: Power Surge
Name: Mystic Author
Part: 1 "Get Charged up"

Hey! I guess this is kind of an OT love story...Before the story starts, I would like to thank EmeraldDragon for the inspiration to write another OT fanfic...as always I really would appreciate reviews! Even if u hated it tell me what I need to improve on!!! Thanx a bunch!

I thrashed around in the water, kicking & fighting to get to the surface. I grabbed the floating body next to me & released a water Pokemon. I clutched onto my Ferligator & kept a tight grip on Jenna's arm. After for what seemed like an eternity, my head broke the surface. I choked & sputtered while I pulled the unconscious Jenna onto Ferligator's back.
"Starmie, go!" I called, spitting out a gallon of ocean water. I grabbed onto the star shaped Pokemon. "Ferligator, Starmie, tow us back to shore!" The two Pokemon began fighting the raging storm, swimming against the waves & wind. Even though they were both some of this world's greatest swimmers, they still had trouble faring with the wild weather.
"Oh crud...This isn't working...I got it!" I fished out my Pokedex & exchanged another one of my regular Pokemon for another water type. "Go, Gyrados! Carry Jenna back to shore!" The powerful dragon/water Pokemon popped out & nodded as it carefully put Jenna on its back.
"Pika--CHA!" Pikachu unhappily poked its head out from my backpack, fur dripping wet.
"Hey buddy! You ride on Gyrados's back & take care of Jenna for me, will ya? I don't think I could live with myself if something happened to her..."
"Pikapi!" my most powerful & cutest Pokemon (not to mention my best friend & first Pokemon) nodded & hopped on Gyrados's back. I watched until Gyrados & Pikachu were out of sight.
"Starmie, Ferligator, we have a bigger job to take care of. We have to get down there & defuse that bomb!"
Hold up. Before I go any farther, the first thing I should tell you is that my name is David Surge, I'm 13 years old & I come from the city of Vermilion. I'm the son of Electric Gym Leader Lt. Surge, & I'm supposedly destined to inherit the gym, after I finish my journey with only Electric Pokemon. How did I get myself in this mess? I'll tell you the story.

"Well son, today's the day." Lt. Surge bounded into my bedroom & shook me awake.
I opened my eyes with a snap, yawned & looked at the clock. 5:30 AM.  *I had a feeling dad would go overboard with this whole training thing. I sat up, rubbing my blue eyes* Yeah...gonna miss ya, dad," I replied, combing my black hair with my fingers.
"Every Surge has to take up Electric training & inherit the gym! Today's the day you're gonna start your training & prepare to become a gym leader."
"You mean I have to be a Lightning trainer?" I couldn't help but say with dread.
"What else are ya gonna be, a puny water trainer? HA, HA, HA! I needed that laugh, Davy!"
"Well, what if I wanna be a Pokemon Master?" I crossed my arms, annoyed. *I've always dreamed about becoming either a water trainer or a Pokemon Master. No one is gonna stand in the way, even if it is my dad.*
"You are destined to be an Lightning Master, no question about it!" He clapped 3 times. "J.T.! Bring out the Electric Pokemon!" One of my life long friends & dad's Lightning trainers with a plain yellow, sleeveless t-shirt with long jeans that had holes in the knees came out with a Pokeball with a lightning bolt on it. He looked about 16, 17 year-old.
"Here's your Pokemon; good luck, David. It's not easy out there kid. Take care of yourself," J.T. smiled & playfully punched my arm.
"I'll be fine, man. I'll be home soon enough," I said as I took the Pokeball, swinging my legs out of bed. "Pokeball, GO!" I called as I threw the white & red ball.
"Pikachu! Pikapi!" A cute mouse looking Pokemon with yellow lustrous fur, brown stripes across its back & tail, red cheeks, shining hazel eyes & black tipped, long ears stood before me.
"Cool, a Pikachu. I heard these are hard to train, but great for the beginning trainers." I inspected my new Pokemon.
"Yeah. All of us here started out with a Pikachu, but we captured other Electric Pokemon too." J.T. took out a Pokeball. "Ampharos, I choose you!" A tall yellow kangaroo looking thing with a long tail with black stripes, a white belly, a red thing on the end of its tail, & red ears.
   "Where did you get that?"
"In Johto...You'll be getting there soon enough. Just focus on Kanto & you'll be fine."
   "Okay."
"Well, don't dawdle! There's a huge breakfast just for you on the table!" Dad walloped my back.
   "Pancakes?" I asked.
   "Pancakes." J.T. confirmed.
   "All right!"

"Well, David. You remember the first place you go is--"
"Yeah, yeah, Cerulean City & battle Misty. I know, you've only been drilling in into my memory for the past half hour." I was outside, dressed in a gray shirt with black, long jeans & a black headband around my forehead to keep out the unruly hair from my eyes. I had a large camping bag, filled with extra clothes, sleeping bag, tent, a week's worth of non-perishable food, a frying pan, towels, soap & an extra pair of sneakers. There was a belt around my waist that held six empty Pokeballs.
   "Then where?"
"Straight back to Vermilion to see my ol' dad."
"Do you remember what not to do until you beat Misty?"
"Yup. Don't catch any other Pokemon, but train Pikachu."
"Good. I expect you back in couple of weeks. Bye, Davy!" Dad called as I crossed the city limits & ventured into the path that led to Cerulean City.
"Come on, Pikachu. Let's get that badge!"

"We made it, Pikachu!" I exclaimed as we saw a sign that said, "Welcome to Cerulean City."
"Pikapi!" My furry little companion agreed from on top of my head.
"How bout we go to the Pokemon Center for a bite to eat?" We had been training for four days,
only stopping to eat & clean up. As a result, Pikachu had gotten to level 20.
"PIKA!" Pikachu hopped off my head & took off in a full sprint towards the Center.
"Hey! Wait up," I called, charging after it. "Pikachu, slow---AGGH!" I stopped as I ran into someone. "Oww...that sure didn't tickle..." I clutched my head, sitting on my butt.
"You can say that again..." a girl about my age with brown hair that cascaded around her shoulders & breath taking green eyes was sitting on her rear end adjacent to me. She blushed. "Sorry about running into you like that."
"It was my fault...I was chasing after my Pikachu." I stood up & held out my hand. "Need a lift?"
"Thanks," she said, smiling. She grasped my hand & I pulled her to her feet. "My name's Jenna, from Cerulean Gym. What's you name?"
"Surge. Ah, I meant David Surge."
"You must be Lt. Surge's son. I'm Misty's daughter. And I'm the daughter of the greatest Pokemon Master-Ash Ketchum."
   "You mean THE Ash Ketchum?"
"Yeah. I'm supposed to be some great trainer, but I'm not even allowed to travel. They keep thinking just because I'm a girl I need someone to travel with."
   "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to Pallet. I have a few tickets for the ship that heads out from Vermilion & travels to Pallet Town. It's where my Dad & Professor Oak live."
"Cool! I'm headed back to Vermilion & I'll probably end up heading the same way."
   "How about we travel together?"
"Great! I could use some rather than Pikachu to talk to--" I looked around. "Oh, man! Pikachu!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I probably made you lose your Pokemon!"
"He'll be fine. We were racing to the Pokemon Center..."
"First one there wins!" Jenna took off running, russet colored hair flowing out behind her.
"Hey! No fair! I don't even know where it is!" I called, rushing after her.
"Can't catch me!" She briefly looked over her shoulder & ran even faster.
*DANG she can run!* I thought. I finally stumbled into the Center, out of breath.
"Pika, Pikachu!" Pikachu was sitting on Jenna's lap.
"What took you so long?" Jenna asked grinning.
"I don't live here! And I'm not a fast runner," I said, falling into a chair.
"You better eat up & rest as much as possible. Even if you do have an Electric Pokemon, it doesn't mean you're automatically going to win the battle. My mom has traveled all over the world & she knows a bunch of things that can help her win against her strongest opponents-Grass & electricity.
"Well, I'm still going to try! You want a meal or something? I'm going to grab a few burgers."
Jenna blinked. "You mean you're going to buy it for me?"
"Well, I'm not about to steal one!"
"I'll just have a chocolate milkshake & fries."
   "Okay, coming right up!"

"I better get back to the gym. Are you going to challenge my mom?"
"Sure! I mean, my dad's counting on me to come home with a Cascade badge & I'm not leaving this place till I do!"
"Pikachu!" Pikachu nodded its head in agreement.
"All right...but don't say I didn't warn you. Are you sure you don't want to battle one of the other water trainers?"
"I made up my mind so don't try to change it!"
   "Okay, I'm sorry, Davy."
"Did you just call me Davy?" I growled.
"Okay, David! Guess I can't do anything right because I'm a girl." She looked at her sneakers.
"No, it's my fault. I just never battled a gym leader & I'm kinda nervous. And only my dad calls me Davy. I guess you can if you want to." I looked at Jenna. "And just because you're a girl doesn't mean
you're helpless. I hope your parents can see that when the time is right."
"Thanks, Davy!" We stopped in front of a large building. "Welcome to Cerulean gym. Good luck." She opened the door & went inside.
"Well, here goes nothing, Pikachu." I swallowed & followed Jenna.
