Power Surge Part 2: Ready for Battle!

"Look what the cat dragged in." A voice echoed out of the shadows.
"Give him a break, Melissa, Alyssa, & Lisa." Jenna said, walking down the
corridor unfazed by the voice. A few figures appeared out of the shadows.
"Like, who, may I ask, are you?" 3 girls of about 14 stood before me. One
had pink hair & brown eyes, another with blonde hair & blue eyes, & the last one
with bluish violet colored hair with hazel eyes.
I cleared my throat. "I'm David Surge & I've come to challenge the Gym Leader!"
"Where did you find this one, Jenna?" Lisa (the one with violet colored
hair) asked.
Jenna stopped & turned around. "For your information, I met him on my way back
here. So we went to the Pokemon Center, had lunch--"
"You guys went out already?" Melissa (the blonde) interrupted.
Jenna gave her a death look. "And came back here so David could battle for a
Cascade badge."
"You want to battle me? I'm a tough one." Alyssa (the pink haired girl)
took out a Pokeball, smiling flirtatiously.
"I'd prefer to battle Misty," I said firmly.
"Yeah right. You're not gonna be able to stand a chance against her." Lisa
scoffed.
   "But I want to try!"
"See what I mean?" Jenna said, shaking her head.
"Then let him battle." Jenna, Melissa, Lisa, Alyssa & I jumped about a
mile.
"Mom! Don't scare me like that! This is David Surge." Jenna gestured to
me.
A woman with waist length, long red hair & glistening blue eyes stood
before me. She wore a long strapless, arctic blue dress with a long slit that
revealed a slender leg & hugged her womanly curves. I know my eyes probably
bulged out of its sockets, but I couldn't help it.
"David! Stop staring at my mom!" Jenna said sharply, elbowing me in the
stomach.
I blushed. "Sorry." Then to Jenna: "If I didn't know better I'd say you're
jealous!"
"Jealous, of my own mother? I think you might've had too many fries at the
Center."
To my surprise, Misty smiled. "I get that a lot. So, you're Surge's kid. As
Jenna & my nieces probably told you, I'm Misty, preferably, Mistaria. Just
because you have the type advantage in a battle doesn't mean you will win
easily. The status of your Pokemon & how it's been trained helps you win.
Also, the determination of you & your Pokemon decides the outcome of the battle.
The love your Pokemon feels for you is another factor that determines if you
will succeed in life or not. Do you still want to battle?"
"Yeah! Me & Pikachu never give up!"
"You have the determination part down packed. Let's test everything else
in a 1 on 1 battle. No time limit." She turned to the three girls & Jenna. "Care
to join us?"

"Go, Pikachu!" Pikachu hopped out of my backpack & scurried to a floating mat on
the water field.
"Your Pokemon seems to be about level 22, if I'm correct. Which Pokemon
should I use for you...since you're a rookie, Starmie, GO! Starmie, let's test
its speed! BUBBLEBEAM!"
"Pikachu, dodge it & counter with Thundershock!" Pikachu evaded the
attacks & sent a barrage of electricity at Starmie.
"Reflect!" The Thundershock bounced off harmlessly. "Good. It's fast. But
is it fast enough to run away from this? ICE BEAM!"
"Look out!" Pikachu danced around the bolts of ice that Starmie shot out
from its jewel. "Attack with Thunderbolt!" Pikachu unleashed a giant bolt of
lightning that hit Starmie, almost rendering it unconscious.
"Not bad. Good special attack power. Starmie, Ice Slice!" Starmie shot out
darts of ice at Pikachu.
"Pika-CHAAAA!" Pikachu screeched as it was afflicted with pain from the
darts of ice.
"Pikachu, agility!" Pikachu found enough strength to dodge the rest of the
little darts of ice.
"Starmie, finish it off, Psychic!"
"Pikachu, MOVE!" But Pikachu wasn't fast enough. "PIKA PI...CHAAAA!"
Pikachu screamed as psychic
waves sent it flying into a wall.
"Pikachu! You okay?" I rushed over to the injured Pokemon.
"Pikapi..." it whispered, giving a weak smile. I crouched down & cradled
it in my arms.
"Don't feel bad. You didn't let me down, little guy. It was my fault. I
should've known we would need more training."
   "It was your fault."
I looked up to see Mistaria, who was crouched beside me. "Thanks for making me
feel better," I said sarcastically as I stroked Pikachu's fur.
"The only training you & Pikachu need is a back up plan. You two are some
of the greatest trainers & Pokemon I've seen."
"But we didn't even last five minutes against you!"
"But your determination tells me you're not going to leave Cerulean City
without that badge. Most trainers would give up & find an easier Gym Leader to
beat. You have a lot of heart, Davy."
"How did you know that was my nick name?"
"Lucky guess," Mistaria said with a small smile. I flashed a death glare
at Jenna who grinned sheepishly at me & continued to talk with Melissa. "But
that's beside the point. You are a great kid. Life won't give up on you if you
don't give up on life." Then she smiled. "I heard you're going to travel with my
little girl. You know, that's how my husband & I met. I couldn't stand him. But
traveling with him helped me get to know him better. Soon, I found myself
falling head over heels in love, even though I wouldn't admit it."
"MOM! You always scare every guy that I meet away with that stupid story!"
Jenna rolled her eyes.
"You see, we're afraid something's going to happen to our baby if we let
her travel alone," Mistaria whispered. "With all the guys that just want her for
their pleasure, I'd feel safer if she had a male companion who my husband & I
can trust to travel with. It's the penalty for being gorgeous like her mother.
You will take care of her,
right?"
"Sure thing, Mistaria!" I said. Then, as an afterthought: "Boy do I feel
weird calling a grown woman by her first name. I can only imagine what my dad
would do to me..."
"Lt. Surge was always a bully...a little hot-headed, too. Well, if you're
ready to try again, you can battle one of these four lovely girls."
"ME! I WANT TO BATTLE!" Melissa waved her hand in the air.
"I'M A WAY BETTER TRAINER THAN HER!" Alyssa pushed Melissa out of her way.
"THESE TWO ARE AMATEURS! LET ME FIGHT!" Lisa slapped Alyssa & Melissa.
"Why do I have such air headed cousins?" Jenna sighed, & walked to a bench
& sat down.
"For the same reasons I have such air headed sisters," Mistaria looked at
her daughter & smiled.
"HEY! We like, heard that, little sister!" Three women walked into the
gym. One had blonde hair, another pink hair, & the other bluish colored hair.
And they were 3 of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.
"I died & went to heaven...I'm surrounded by angels," I murmured.
   "Pikachu." My little buddy agreed.
"Daisy, Violet, Lily...I thought you guys were out of town for the week?"
Mistaria said with a tone of disappointment in her voice.
"Well, like we decided we couldn't leave our little girls for a whole
week!"
"Like, hi, Mom!" The three girls who were arguing over who got to battle me
stopped & ran to their mothers.
"The air headedness is overwhelming," Mistaria muttered underneath her
breath.
"Like, you want to say that a little louder, little sis?" Daisy (the
oldest woman with blonde hair) challenged.
"Wow...a gym full of women...thank you, thank you, thank you!" I
whispered.
"Come on, Romeo. You obviously need some air." Jenna dragged me outside,
away
from the 4 arguing women & the younger arguing girls.
We stopped at a lake with beautiful plants, trees & grass all around.
I found a couple of flat boulders we could sit on.
"So where are you planning on going during your journey?" Jenna asked.
"Well, after Cerulean, I'm heading to Pallet."
"No, I mean what are you going to be, a Lightning Master, Pokemon Master?"
"I'm still thinking...my dad wants me to be a Lightning gym leader but I'd
rather be the best Pokemon Master-maybe even better than your dad."
"Okay, that's highly unlikely, but you can be as good as he is."
"What are you going to be?"
"I think an Ice Master...my mom doesn't pressure me or anything but ice
Pokemon are really interesting. And they're the only things that can beat dragon
Pokemon."
We talked a little more, getting to know each other before we set out
again the next day.
"JENNA & DAVY SITTING IN A TREE, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. FIRST COMES LOVE, THEN
COMES MARRIAGE, THEN CMES THE BABY IN THE BABY CARRIAGE. THAT'S NOT ALL-"
"You three are dead! Jynx, Ice Beam!" Jenna had jumped to her feet & was
about to send out a Pokemon.
"AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGUHHHH!" Melissa, Lisa, & Alyssa screamed & jumped away to
run inside.
"Like, Misty, your little girl reminds 0of you as a little girl...every
time we would say anything about your little Ash friend you'd jump up & scream
'He's not my boyfriend!' and attack us," Daisy said, her, Lily, Violet &
Mistaria watching the whole scene.
"And your little girls remind me of the air headed, clueless girls you
once & still are!" Misty retorted.
"Come here & say that to my face," Lily uttered.
   "Gladly."
   "Mom, what about the battle?"
"Hmmm...Melissa you battle David. You've been training your water Pokemon the
hardest this week."
"YES!!! Like thanks, Aunt Misty!" Melissa (who had enough courage to come
back outside but was avoiding Jenna) cheered. She looked at me & beamed. "Like,
just because you're extremely hot, doesn't mean I'm going easy on you!"
"Shut up & start the battle already!" Jenna seethed. She stormed off
towards the water field.
"I wonder what's her, like, problem?"
"I think I know. But that's not the important thing. I'll talk to her
later," Misty answered quietly.

   "Shellder, Aurora Beam!"
"Pikachu, dodge & attack with tackle!"
Shellder unleashed a blast of rainbow colored ice at Pikachu.
"Pi-KA!" Pikachu jumped into the air & landed on Shellder.
   "Shellder, Bubblebeam!"
"CHUUUU!" Pikachu cried as it took Shellder's attacks.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" I instructed it, hoping to end the battle.
"Like, Shellder! Block it with Ice Beam!" There was a small explosion as
the ice hit the electricity. I couldn't see anything.
"Pikachu! Where are ya?" I coughed through the mist.
"Davy! Look out!" I heard Jenna's voice cut through the fog.
"Jenna?" That was the last thing I said as something hit my head.

Jenna
"Davy!" I screamed as I saw him get hit in the head with a block of ice &
fall forward into the water.
"Jenna!" My mom caught my arm. "You can't go in there! There still may be
electricity in the water from Pikachu's attack!"
"Let go!" I pulled my arm free & sprinted to the pool. I ran into a dive &
plunged into the pool.
"Well, what would you expect, she has your stubborness,” I heard Aunt
Daisy say to my mom before I dove underwater.

Misty
“What’s taking so   long?” I chewed on my bottom lip, twirling a lock of my
red hair around my index finger.
“Like, chill out, little sister! She’s a great swimmer!” Daisy assured me,
even though her forehead was creased with worry.
“That’s it!” I kicked off my high heel sandals & started for the water.
“No way are we about to, like, lose our baby of the family,” Violet said
as she & Lily caught my arm.
“Let me go!” I squirmed & thrashed wildly.
“Like, she’s better at swimming than us, Aunt Misty,” Melissa said, Lisa &
Alyssa behind her.
*Jenna, please be okay. I don’t think I could stand being around these air
heads without you.*

Jenna
*Where is he?* I kicked my legs harder. My fingertips touched fur.
*Pikachu!* I moved around a little bit more & my hands touched a body. My lungs
were screaming for air & I was beginning to feel lightheaded. I grabbed David &
Pikachu & swam for the surface with the remaining oxygen I had. *Let me make it*

***I kno, I kno, part 2 is a million words long. I tried 2 break it up into 2
parts, but it wouldn’t work out so I made it all one part. As I have been saying
for the past couple fanfics, I m a reely busy person! Babysitting, schoolwork
(unfortunately I have 2 read these long dumb novels 4 school), writing these
stories (which I enjoy a lot & spend almost all my time doing), & trying 2 b
normal (which doesn’t work out sumtimes). So I am booked for the rest of july &
be patient—part 3 & 4 are already in the process of being written.
