Title: Wishing Waters Author: |_+_+|~<:.:.:. M y S t I c (*) A u T h O r .:.:.:>~|+_+_| Part 2: Don't Wanna Lose You Now Email: mysticauthor89@yahoo.com Category: AAMRN Disclaimer: If I owned Pokèmon, do you think I'd be writing an imaginary fanfic? Nah, I didn't think so either. Btw, "Don't Wanna Lose You Now" belongs to the Backstreet Boys & I just borrowed their lyrics. Oh yeah, "Things I'll Never Say" belongs to Avril Lavigne. Plus I own nothing but a couple of shoes, CD's & a pack of gum so suing me would be incredibly stupid. Wishing Waters Part 2: Don't Wanna Lose You Now "Misty..." She was swimming in the pure blue ocean, diving underneath waves & riding them. Ash was swimming beside her, swimming & diving. Ash splashed water & the two began having a water fight, giggling. "MISTY!" "Huh?" Misty averted her eyes from the window. It was a beautiful hot windy fall day in Wishing Waters Academy, & it took all of her will power not to daydream, even though she did slip from time to time. "Would you mind coming up here & performing this section of the play?" Mrs. Glassberg (her British Lit. teacher) rolled her eyes. "Um...sure." Misty grabbed her paperback from her desk & walked up to the front of the room, where Ash was standing with Mrs. Glassberg. Ash was in his usual Wishing Waters uniform, wearing a powder blue long sleeved button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, un-tucked. He had a tie around his neck & black slacks. She smiled sheepishly & said, "What page are we on?" "Misty, you're going to have to pay more attention to pass this class." "Sorry." "We're on page twelve," Ash whispered. "Right. Um, 'But Roddy, will we ever see each other again?'" Misty recited from the book. "'I don't think so, Barbra. It's been a summer too many & it's time for "us" to come to an end.'" Ash said his line. "'But Roddy--'" "'No, please don't say it. You have Marc now; there's no need for me. Besides, I'm going to start seeing Katrina and we can put this all behind us. Now, please, just let me go.'" Ash looked up from the book & waited for Misty's line. "Psst. Misty." He elbowed her gently, hoping to wake her from her stupor. Misty ignored him & turned to their teacher. "Mrs. Glassberg, do we have to--" "Do whatever the characters do." The brown haired woman pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, smiling mockingly, ice blue eyes sparkling with laughter. She sat on Misty's desk & watched silently. The whole class was sniggering, while Misty was blushing furiously. Ash still couldn't figure out what was wrong, that is, until he read ahead a little bit further. "Mrs. Glassberg, no way!" "Do what the characters do." She repeated firmly. "Is it okay if I just get a failing grade?" He muttered to himself. he thought. Misty nervously looked at one of her closet friends, Lasselle. "Make your move," her friend mouthed to her. Misty felt even more awkward as she shook her head. She took a few deep breaths to calm down a bit. She knew what had to be done. Ash turned to Misty. "Misty, do you mind taking an F--" but he was cut of as he felt something balmy on his lips & realized Misty had pressed her lips to his. He was about to end the kiss when he found himself kissing her back. The two were oblivious to the stunned teacher & the students who were whooping & aww'ing as their embrace got more passionate, their arms enclosed around each other, tongues exploring each other's mouth. Ash ran a hand through Misty's hair & pulled her closer. "Ahem, Mr. Ketchum, Miss Waterflower...that's enough...okay seriously that's enough! Hello? Are you two listening to me?" Mrs. Glassberg slid off the desk & walked to the front of the room. "Ash! Misty! This is a PG-13 fanfic, you know!" Misty broke free & moved towards her seat in the back of the classroom. "Sorry, Mrs. Glassberg," she stammered before slipping in her seat & slumping as far as possible without falling. She covered her eyes with her hands & tried to block out all of the mimicking faces. she thought. She didn't dare look at Ash, who still stood at the front of the room. She fought the wave of nausea that bubbled in her stomach. "Please sit down Ash," Mrs. Glassberg said as she tried to calm the class down. He looked at the floor as he walked to his desk. He looked over his shoulder at Misty, who had head in her hands. He put his elbows on his desk & his head in his hands. "Great show!" Gary said from behind Ash. "Better than those cheesy French movies they show down at the Cineplex!" Richie agreed, sitting on the right on Ash, slapping his back. Ash sighed & combed his fingers through his hair. "Before you leave class, I have partnered everyone up with another student for a science project. You may be partnered with a fellow freshman, or a senior, sophomore, or perhaps a junior. Chemistry happens between different people as well as different chemicals, eh?" Mr. Tuttle said as he passed out papers. The whole class groaned at his feeble attempt at a joke. "Please Laselle, please Laselle..." Richie prayed to himself. Mr. Tuttle placed a paper on Richie's desk. He finally got enough nerve to flip over his paper. "Giselle?!" "Go Richie! She so damn hot!" Gary poked Richie in the ribs. Gary then got his paper. "Brock? Hey, it's that no eyed geek!" "And I got..." Ash eagerly read the paper. "Erika? YES!" Richie & Gary stared at Ash. He smiled sheepishly. "It's just that I don't think I could face Misty again after that British Lit class." He explained. Meanwhile on the other side of the room, "I'm working with...Todd?" Laselle looked up at a shy boy with pale blue eyes & wavy thick brown hair. He smiled & turned back to his work. "He's a looker," Duplica nudged Laselle. "My partner's...Melody!" "And I got...Rudy!" Misty looked at her paper. Duplica & Laselle gawked at her. "What?" "He's only the hottest senior ever!" Laselle exclaimed. (Only if they knew...) Misty thought. "How the hell are you so lucky? First you got to kiss your crush...now this! Did I miss a memo or something? Is today 'Misty Day'?" Duplica rubbed her chin. "I've known him when I was 12 too..." FLASHBACK "Misty, please stay with me!" "No. I can't, & that's all there is to it!" The Water trainer & the Orange Island gym leader were sitting on a couch in Rudy's gym. "Misty, I love you. Do you know how it feels to be rejected like this?" Rudy didn't wait for an answer & planted a kiss on Misty's lips. Misty stiffened, but let him kiss her. He pulled her close & the two started to quickly round the bases. Misty tried to break away, but his grip on her waist was too strong. Misty dug her fingernails into him arm, but he just ignored it. Misty tried to jerk her head away, but Rudy started to slip his other hand up her shirt. Panicking, Misty tried to swat his hand away. When that didn't work, Misty was trying to take out her mallet, but Rudy just shifted positions so Misty couldn't reach her pocket. Rudy came up for air, gasping. Misty sputtered, still squirming around underneath him. He pinned her arms with his knees & removed her shirt & was about to unhook her bra when... "STOP RIGHT THERE!" Ash jumped out from his hiding spot. He punched Rudy square in the face & helped Misty off the couch. "He's got a hard dick but a jaw made of glass." He rubbed his sore knuckles & turned to his friend. "C'mon." He handed Misty's shirt back to her & smiled. "Thanks, Ash." "Hey, you would've done the same for me. Let's go find Tracey & get outta here?" "Ash, I won't leave you until I somehow return the favor! I promise..." END FLASHBACK "I said I wouldn't leave him until I returned the favor! And now I'm paired up with the guy who tried to rape me! Uh...this was THE worst day ever." Misty put her head in her hands. She couldn't remember a worse day in her life. "..." Her friends remained silent. The bell rang & broke their moment of silence. Misty walked briskly, hoping not to run into Rudy. "Why are you walking so fast?" Laselle huffed & puffed, trying to keep up with Misty. Duplica quickened her pace as well, hurrying after her two friends. "I can't run into--" "Hey Misty." "AAAGGGHH! Uh...Rudy, you frightened me. Hi." Misty felt her insides knot up. She was glad she at least had her friends with her. His eyes landed on her two friends for a moment & flickered back to his partner. "Yeah. Heard that we're partners for the project." He flicked his deep, russet hair, brandy colored eyes glowing. "Um...yeah." Misty avoided the gaze that sucked her into him 3 years ago. "How about we start our project at my dorm tonight?" "Sorry, but I'm not allowed to a guy's dorm room," Misty said coolly, trying to calm her nerves. Misty was as beautiful as ever, Rudy couldn't help but notice. He was going to get her, no matter what. Ashy-Boy wasn't going to get in the way this time. "Don't worry about it. I'll be the perfect gentleman. Besides, no one ever gets caught." Misty thought wryly. "I'd feel better if we went to the library or had a study group." "How about a study group?" She looked around & named the first people she saw. "How about Ash & Erika?" "I was thinking more along the lines of my age." "Erika's your age!" she said a little too hastily. "We'll meet tomorrow morning at 8, since tomorrow's Saturday. Well, gotta go! I have a million things to do in less than 24 hours. See you." Misty walked off before Rudy had a chance to protest. "God, that was close! Good thinking Misty," Duplica congratulated her. "Ugh...No it wasn't...now I have to face Ash!" Misty moaned. Misty cursed silently. As they turned to head for the library, Misty continued for the dorms. "Where are you going Mist?" "I'm going to lie down & take some aspirin...I'll catch up with you guys later." She waved goodbye & hurried in the direction of Ash & Erika. "So we'll meet up at the library tomorrow afternoon?" Erika asked Ash as they walked through the campus together. "Works for me," Ash agreed, shrugging his shoulders. "I heard about the British Lit class," Erika said casually, hugging her books to her chest. Her green eyes flickered to the younger boy, who seemed a little too quiet. "Is everything all right?" she inquired softly. "Unless you call getting your crush-I mean best friend mad at you by kissing her in front of the entire class & then ignoring her all right," Ash stated sardonically. "I see...sooner or later you guys will have to work this out. It's not going to go away until you solve it." "Nice acting, Ketchum!" a couple of sophomores jeered as they walked by, laughing. Ash couldn't take the jeering anymore & hung his head in defeat. "Don't let them get to you. They don't know what they're talking about at least you've been kissed." Erika pointed out. "Well if it isn't Mr. Pokèmon Master." Ash cringed inwardly. "Hey, Rudy." "Guess what? Misty's my partner. MINE." Ash was speechless as he glared up into the senior's, remembering the stressful 3 days at Trovita Island. He balled up his fists in anger, eyes flashing with rage. He opened his mouth to say something but caught himself. Instead, he gave Rudy a dirty look & stomped away, backpack slung over his shoulder. He wished to have Pikachu with him. Then he could've fried him to a crisp. Unfortunately Pokèmon were allowed to either be in Pokeballs or in a sort of Pokèmon hotel/Pokèmon Center in the school near the battlefield. Pikachu, not liking Pokeballs, decided to give the hotel/Center a shot. He liked it okay, aside from the fact they had the cheap brand of ketchup. "Talk to you later, Erika," Ash looked at the black haired senior girl & waved. "See you, Ash." Erika gave one last glare at Rudy. And if looks could kill, Rudy would be dead & buried. She turned on her heel & continued on her way. "Ash! Wait up!" Ash craned his neck to see Misty running towards him. He was glad to see her, but still a little uncomfortable about the "Incident". He waited for her & the two began walking aimlessly as they talked. "Hey Mist." Misty's heart always skipped a beat when he called her that. She shook it off & smiled. "Uh I was wondering..." "Yeah?" Ash brightened. "You know how Rudy & I are partners?" Ash's face clouded again. "Yeah. What does that have to do with me," he said rather harshly. Misty frowned. "I didn't pick the partners! If I could I would've put you & me together." The words flew out of her mouth before she could stop them. "Really?" Ash tried to meet Misty's gaze, but she kept from her eyes locking with his. "Um...sure! I mean we've only spent 4 years with each other traveling so even though we sometimes don't get along, we still make a good team." Misty looked at her feet, trying to hide a blush that was creeping up her neck. "As I was saying, I was wondering if you & Erika would like to have a study group for our projects. You know, bounce ideas off each other, stuff like that." "Okay...but you'll have to ask Erika." "I will." The two walked in silence for a moment. "Where are you headed?" "Uh...I was walking you to wherever you were headed." Ash grinned & scratched the back of his head. "Face it Ketchum, we're lost! Just like in the old days..." "We're not lost...just unsure of our location." Misty sweat dropped. "Wait, we're near the battling fields. Up for a little competition?" Ash looked at his friend. "Sure! I never did get to finish that battle at Cerulean..." "Let's go!" "Pikachu, go! Thunder shock now!" "Not so fast! Togetic, reflect!" The barrage of electricity bounced off harmlessly. "You've trained you Togepi well." ""Thanks. Togetic, Headbutt!" "Agility!" Togetic soared past the little Pikachu. "Pikachu, now! Lightning bomb!" "What the-" Pikachu made electricity in its paws & shaped them into little balls about the size of a tennis ball. It threw them at the cowering Togetic. It screamed as it took every one of the hits. "Togetic, time for our special attack. Neon wings!" The Togetic's wings began to glow so bright, everyone in the stadium had to shield their eyes. It beat it wings & shot out fiery feathers. Pikachu cried out in pain as the feathers singed his fur. It fell hard to the ground, a big chunk of its HP being taken out by the attack. Electricity sparked in its red cheeks as it got angry. Now all eyes were on the two freshmen, who were locked in an intense Pokèmon battle. Misty pushed a lock of her crimson hair off her cheek. She tried to mentally prepare herself for whatever Ash had up his sleeve. "Pikachu, Static Shock!" (A/N: not to be confused with the TV show "Static Shock" on WB...heh heh) The little mouse rubbed its paws together rapidly, until its paws were a blur. "PI KA...CHUUUUUUUUUUU!" Pikachu bellowed as electricity shot out from its paws. "Togetic, counter with a Thunder Explosion!" "What? Togetic can't learn an electric attack!" Ash protested. But his protest was drowned out as the two Pokemon's attack's colliding. Ash was blown backwards & fell on his butt from the impact. He coughed & choked as the dust settled. "Togetic? Are you all right?" Misty brushed the dirt from her powder blue button down collar uniform shirt & navy blue skirt. "Pikachu, buddy? You still with me?" Ash called. As the dust cleared, the two trainers smiled as they realized that their Pokèmon missed purposely, since they couldn't purposely hurt each other after spending 4 years together. "Good match, Misty. It's been a LONG time since I've battled you." Ash glanced at the redheaded Water trainer. "Yeah. I keep forgetting how good I've gotten since our last battle over Totodile." She walked over to her once baby Pokèmon. "C'mon, we better get you back to the Center for a treatment." "Great job, Pikachu. Even though we didn't win, you have a lot of heart not to hurt your best Pokèmon friend." Ash scooped up his Pokèmon & hugged it. "Finally, home at last." Misty shoved the key in the lock & opened the door to her dorm. It was well past midnight, & WAY past curfew, even for a weekend. After she battled Ash, the two sat in a park bench & talked until they couldn't see their own hands in front of their faces. Misty had to admit, no matter how much she denied her feelings & tried to convince others & herself that she didn't like Ash, it greatly showed. She snuck into her bedroom, tiptoeing, hoping not to wake Duplica. She sighed a sigh of content. She flicked on the light switch & nearly screamed when she saw two figures perched on the edge of her bed. "Duplica? Laselle? What are you guys still doing up? In my room of all places?" Misty raised her eyebrows in questioning. "I think the question is what you're doing, coming in at 3:00 in the morning." Duplica studied Misty for any hint of where she might've been. "I was--" "Don't even try to come up with an excuse." Laselle held up a turquoise diary. "You guys went through my diary? My most private thoughts? All my secrets that I vowed to keep to myself? WHAT THE HELL?" Misty's eyes flared blue as angry patches of pink appeared on her cheeks. "Are you guys on drugs or what?" Misty continued heatedly as she snatched it from her brown haired friend. "We thought it wouldn't come down to this, Misty, but you leave us no choice." Duplica nodded once to Laselle. Laselle bent over & reached underneath Misty's bed & pulled out an old, dusty box. Misty's eyes went wide. "You guys went through everything?" she whispered. The other two looked at each other & nodded. she thought ironically. "So what happened?" "Nothing." Misty folded her arms across her chest. She wouldn't let them pry anything else out of her. "You guys were together for almost 5 years! The longest time you guys hadn't been together was like a couple of weeks," Duplica argued. Misty pretended to zip up her mouth, lock it, & throw away the key. The other two sighed. "Right. Well, if you're going to play that way, we will get it out of you." Laselle grinned. "I'm going back to my dorm before Melody finds out that I'm out of bed. Duplica, don't give up on grilling her for info." "Gotcha." Duplica mocked saluted Laselle as she left. Then Duplica looked at her wary friend. "Are you sure nothing happened? Were you even with Ash the whole time?" Misty rolled her eyes as if to say, "Who else would I spend all night talking to?" "You didn't run into Rudy?" Misty shook her head. "Are you positive nothing happened between you & Ash? You are a girl, & he's a guy...could I make any more obvious? He didn't try anything on you, did he?" Duplica added, as Misty seemed to fidget slightly. "Ash would NEVER do that!" Misty clenched her fists, fingernails digging into her palms. She tried to hide the tears that sprung to her eyes as Duplica accused Ash HER ASH of raping someone. "Then why won't you talk?" Misty looked into Duplica's brandy colored eyes. "Because nothing happened! For once I'm telling the truth! I didn't kiss him or anything tonight! Now please, just let me sleep...I have to meet up with Ash, Rudy & Erika tomorrow at 8. That leaves me with 4 hrs to sleep & an hour to eat & get ready." Without any further discussion, Misty slipped into bed. Duplica threw up her hands in defeat & retreated into her room. Misty popped in her Avril Lavigne CD. She tried to sleep, but found herself thinking of Ash. "I'm tuggin at my hair, I'm pulling at my clothes, I'm trying to keep my cool, I know it shows. I'm staring at my feet, My cheeks are turning red, I'm searching for the words inside my head. I'm feeling nervous, Trying to be so perfect. Cause I know you're worth it. You're worth it, yeah. If I could say what I want to say, I'd say I want to blow you away. Be with you every night, Am I squeezing you too tight? If I could say what want to see, I want to see you go down on one knee. Marry me today, Guess I'm wishing my life away, With these things I'll never say. It don't me any good, It's just a waste of time. What's use is it to you if what's on my mind? If it ain't coming out, we're not going anywhere. So why can't I just tell you that I care? Cause I'm feeling nervous, Trying to be so perfect. Cause I know you're worth it, You're worth it, yeah. If I could say what I want to say, I'd say I want to blow you away. Be with you every night, Am I squeezing you too tight? If I could say what want to see, I want to see you go down on one knee. Marry me today, Guess I'm wishing my life away, With these things I'll never say. What's wrong with my tongue? These words keep slipping away. I stutter, I stumble, like I've got nothing to say. Marry me today, Guess I'm wishing my life away, With these things I'll never say." "Did you get some of 'Mrs. Not-until-I'm-married'?" Richie tugged at Ash's shirt. As soon as Ash had stepped into the dorm, Richie & Gary had fired questions at him, left & right. Ash felt like he was pulled over by an Officer Jenny. "For the last time, guys, no. We just spent a coupla hours together as friends catching up on what happened to us in the last few weeks," Ash said tiredly, rubbing his temples. "Coupla hours? Did you notice the clock?" Gary exclaimed. Ash turned his head. The digital clock read 3:00. he thought. "Guys, I didn't do anything with her, okay? Please...I gotta sleep...I have a study date with Misty--" "Ooooh! Study date!" They mocked. "-Erika & Rudy," Ash finished. "Oh...sucks for you. I'll let Gary finish giving you a hard time. I'm going back to Todd." Richie stretched his arms above his head & yawned. He waved & exited the room. "Please, let me sleep..." Ash mumbled. "Fine. As soon as you get back from your 'study date' we're going to talk about this." Gary gave in & bid goodnight to his black haired friend & fellow Pallet Town trainer. Ash tossed & turned, but couldn't get to sleep. He rolled over, fluffed his pillow, counted Mareep, read the encyclopedia, & even tried doing yoga. Nothing made him tired. He was too busy contemplating about Misty. He found the CD Misty had burned for him & put in his radio. "I never thought that I would lose my mind, That I could control this, Never thought that I'd be left behind, That I was stronger than you, baby. Girl if only I knew what I've done, You know, so why don't you tell me? And I, I would bring down the moon and the sun To show how much I care. Don't wanna lose you now Baby, I know we can win this Don't wanna lose you now No, no, or ever again I've got this feeling you're not gonna stay It's burning within me The fear of losing Of slipping away It just keeps getting closer, baby Whatever reason to leave that I've had My place was always beside you And I wish that I didn't need you so bad Your face just won't go away Don't wanna lose you now Baby, I know we can win this Don't wanna lose you now No, no, or ever again I never thought that I would lose my mind That I could control this Never thought that I'd be left behind That I was stronger than you Don't want to lose to loneliness Girl I know we can win Don't want to lose to emptiness, oh no Never again Don't wanna lose you now Baby, I know we can win this Don't wanna lose you now No, no, or ever again Don't wanna lose you now Baby, I know we can win this Don't wanna lose you now No, no, or ever again." "Misty...never am I going to lose you again. I went ballistic without you for a couple of weeks, so how am I gonna last the rest of my life without you?" Ash muttered as his eyelids became heavy & soon shut as he drifted into a dream of he & Misty. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~FEW HOURS LATER IN MISTY'S ROOM*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Misty..." "Ash! Where are you? HELP!" Misty screamed as she ran through a dark empty hallway, with no doors. There was a frightening gray shadow chasing her, a couple of steps behind. "Misty..." She looked around wildly & saw Ash in the distance. "ASH!" Misty ran closer, pumping her legs to the extreme. Her heart raced as fast as her legs, hair flowing out behind her. "Misty..." "Ash! Save me, the monster's coming to get me!" she sobbed, tears now trickling down her cheeks & flying off because of the speed at which she was sprinting. She didn't dare slow down, fear that the monster might catch her. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~IN ASH'S ROOM*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Ash..." "Somebody, help! MISTY! Where are you?" Ash yelled as he darted away from the dreary colored form that was hot in pursuit of him. His only surrounding was a gloomy deserted hall with nowhere to go except straight. He breathed sharp breaths, trying to escape his predator. "Ash..." "What do you want from me?" Ash pleaded over his shoulder to the blurry shape that was after him. "Ash..." Ash focused his eyes back to in front of him, & he saw a familiar figure with shimmering red hair. "Misty! It's coming, run! Get out of here!" He warned his best friend, black hair flapping around wildly as he moved his legs faster until they were a blur. He poured on more speed, praying the shadow wouldn't get him. IN BOTH ROOMS "AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!" They both screamed in their separate rooms as they awoke, breaking into a cold sweat, catching their breath. IN THE GUYS' ROOM "Ash? What the hell?" Gary stumbled into his room, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. Richie, Todd, Tracey, & Brock appeared at the door, all of them clad in their boxers. "What happened? We heard you all the way down the hall," Richie looked around. "Sorry guys. I had a nightmare," Ash sat up, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. The rest of them face faulted. "Gee, maybe next time we'll remember to keep the hallway light on for poor little Ashy," Brock said, folding his arms across his bare chest. "I didn't know I was screaming so loud. But it was a really scary dream. Freakier than my normal nightmares, you know? It was like if I didn't wake up screaming, I wouldn't have woken up ever again." The five other guys looked at each other nervously. "You mean, you were about to...die?" Tracey said uncertainly. He took a small notebook out of his pocket along with a pen. "Tell us everything you remember." "Everything? Well, it's kind of embarrassing..." Ash turned crimson. "Everything." Tracey repeated, ready to write. Ash took a deep breath & began. "Well, I was in a hallway, with no doors, nothing but a shadow chasing after me. I was running for my life, yelling for..." "For...?" Tracey encouraged. "Mmpff." "Sorry, I couldn't hear you." "I said...Mmpffy." "Excuse me?" "MISTY, YOU DEAF JACKA--" Gary clamped a hand over Ash's mouth. "I meant, Misty." "I see," Tracey scribbled away in the book. "Keep going." "Well..." IN THE GIRLS' ROOM "I see Ash standing there, so I run to him, trying to warn him, but he seemed to be running from something too." Laselle, Duplica, Giselle, Erika, & Melody were all sitting on Misty's bed as she told her dream. "I see. So the things you & Ash are running away from probably stand for something you two have been postponing as long as you could. But now you're having these dreams because your head is telling you that you're going to be miserable if you hold this off any longer. The hallway with no doors represents that there's nowhere else to go to avoid whatever is happening between you & Ash," Giselle voiced her thoughts. Misty suddenly felt uncomfortable. "Well, thanks for coming, I didn't mean to wake you! I'll be fine now, sorry." Misty tried to get them off her bed. "You know something about your dream, don't you?" Duplica analyzed the look on her face. Misty looked down. "No, all I know is that I need to get to sleep!" "Misty, I told you we were going to get it out of you sooner or later. Now spill, Waterflower." "Fine...Well, the things chasing me & Ash probably means that we both have feelings we have to tell each other, but we've been putting it off forever, you know?" "HA! I knew you were afraid of telling him that you were in love with him!" Laselle rejoiced. "I knew it all along!" The rest of the girls stared at her as if Laselle had sprouted 10 heads. "I still can't believe I'm related to you," Giselle looked at her little sister. "It's not as if I'm happy being related to you." "Whatever. We WERE focused on Misty." Misty cringed as the spotlight was thrown back at her. "What?" "So who's gonna break the ice first?" Melody asked, twirling a piece of her muddy blonde hair around her index finger. "How am I supposed to know? If anything, he's postponing telling me that I'm just an ugly redheaded runt who never goes away..." Misty put her thoughts into words. "How stupid are you two? It's love at first sight! When he looks at you, he gives you this special smile that he only gives you & no one else! Sure, he smiles a lot, but there's this one kind of smile he gives only to you. Plus I've seen him stare at you every chance possible, whenever you're not looking at him," Melody said. "What if he only thinks of me as a friend?" The other girls groaned exasperatedly & face faulted. "I know love is blind, but this is just ridiculous," Erika groaned. "Even from when I first saw you two & Brock at the gym a while back, I knew he cared for you because he didn't want you to go into the burning building with him to save Gloom, remember? "As fun as this has been, you & I have a study date with Ash & Rudy tomorrow," the green-eyed Grass trainer stood up. "And I need my beauty sleep." "Yeah, see you people in the morning." Giselle stretched & followed her roommate. "It's already 7:00," Laselle read the clock on Misty's bedside table. "OH SHIT!! I only have an hour to get ready," Misty exclaimed, jumping out of bed. She rushed into the bathroom & brushed her teeth. "See you Misty," the other girls left as she & Duplica began their normal morning routine. "Are you sure this is gonna work?" Ash asked as Brock, Todd, Tracey, Richie & Gary gave all the tips on getting girls they knew (which wasn't very much). "Don't worry. You ask Misty to help you find a book, go to a far corner, & tell her you love her," Brock ran through the plan. "Don't forget not to stammer, & make it sound casual," Tracey added. "Whatever you do, remember, 'Never Eat Shredded Wheat'." They all stared at Todd. "What? You might get lost in the library like you always got us lost, even when we're going to your house." Richie & Gary laughed. "So true, Todd, so true." Richie suppressed another laugh, but ended up burst out with laughter all over again. "SHHHHHHHHH! This is a library, hence the quietness!" Old Lady Ripkins (or Mrs. Jenkins, which was her real name) the librarian hissed at them. "Sorry," Gary apologized. "By the way, if that Rudy takes a shot at your booty, punch the hell outta him! I almost didn't win that gym battle with him a while back..." "You know I will," Ash complied, he & Gary doing their little handshake. "Here she comes! Well be over by the Romantic section if you need us..." Richie called to him as they headed over to a row of books & acted like they were reading, which was a funny sight since Brock was drooling over a girl, Richie had his book upside down, Tracey was sketching Brock hitting on the girl, & Gary & Todd were playing computer games. "Well this is it..." He looked over his outfit once more. He had on a nice pair of khaki slacks, brown Hush Puppies, & an off white colored sweater. His hair was the same, unruly without his hat, which he had lost about 2 years ago. "Hurry up, Erika!" Misty impatiently tapped her foot on the floor. She wore a sleeveless black V-neck shirt with a jean skirt with a slit in the front & a belt with silver holes in it. Her hair was worn long & came up to her mid back. Her pink lips were glossed with strawberry lip-gloss & on her feet were a pair of sandals. "Misty, calm down. It's 7:55. You don't have to sprint. Besides, there's Ash waiting for you." Erika wore a black tube top with a white, long sleeved button down shirt over it & a silky black dress with a slit that revealed a slender leg. "Ugh..." Misty held her stomach. She felt incredibly nauseous. "Breathe, dammit! You're not going to make it through the study session if you don't try & focus!" Erika scolded. "I can't tell him...not now & not ever! I can't..." Misty muttered to herself as they approached Ash. Ash coached himself as Misty & Erika came over to greet him. "Hi, Mist." Misty was about to faint as Ash said 'hi' to her. "Yeah...hey. How's it going?" "Same old, same old." Erika smiled at how they carried on a conversation as if she wasn't even there. "I'm going to find us a table. You guys can wait here for Rudy." Erika hurried off, leaving them to their privacy. "Phase one is in action." Erika whispered to a brunette that was sitting at a table that happened to be Giselle. Misty glared at her two older friends. They cast a tiny smile & turned away. "Uh..." Ash pulled out a single beautiful white rose. "Here. I just wanted to thank you for last night. It was...fun. I mean I missed talking to you like that." Misty blushed ever so slightly. "Oh, Ash...I don't know what to say." "A simple thanks would do wonders." Misty beamed at him & gave him a small hug. "Thank you, you're so sweet." "Ketchum, don't you know roses symbolize the vagina?" Rudy sneered as he walked up to the two teens (A/N: I got that from 'The Bachelor'...I was watching movies all night...LOL). "Hey, Misty. Here. These are the flowers you deserve," Rudy said as he handed Misty a bouquet of wildflowers & white lilies. "Thanks, Rudy." Misty had to admit, Rudy's flowers were beautiful. Even though Ash had given her a single rose, it was far more gorgeous than anything anyone could ever buy for her. "So let's get this thing started," Rudy wrapped an arm around Misty's waist & pulled her towards the table Erika was saving for them. Ash stood there, speechless. he thought. Rudy had come in & swept Misty right out from underneath his nose. "Are you coming or what, Ketchum?" Rudy called over his shoulder. "Coming..." "So you we could do different types of poison different bug, poison, & grass Pokèmon can make, while you do the different types of feather patterns on different flying types. Is that okay?" Erika summarized. "Yeah." "Sure." "Anything that Misty wants." The last comment belonged to Rudy. "I'm going to look for some books," Ash said as he pushed back his chair & headed towards his friends. "You're dying out there..." Brock said in a singsong voice. "I know. Help me!" "Okay, you can scratch our original plan. Tell Rudy that a friend told you to tell him that the friend wanted to meet Rudy in the bathroom. Me & the guys will take care of him..." Brock said, rubbing his hands together like a mad scientist. "What're you going to do to him?" "Put him out of commission for a while. No biggie." "Okay..." Ash picked out a couple of books on poison & headed back to his table. "Hey, Rudy? There was a friend of yours who told me, to tell you to meet him in the bathroom." "Which friend? Did you catch his name?" "How am I supposed to remember his name? All he told me was to meet him in the bathroom." "Fine. I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere, sunshine." Misty cringed at the nickname. "Ash! You got the wrong books," Erika complained. "What? You told me to get books on Poison!" "But this isn't the right kind of poison. I'll be right back." Erika hurried to a bookcase. Misty's eyes drifted to a dirty blonde haired girl. "You're killing me! Hurry up & tell him." The blonde mouthed to her. Misty glowered at Melody. She shook her head violently. Misty turned around as a pair of girls dropped their books near her chair. "Whoops! Sorry..." It was Duplica & Laselle. "Do something, you're looking bad..." Laselle muttered as she bent down to pick up the books. "Make small talk or something, you look a little desperate." Duplica added before she straightened up & strode away with Laselle. "So, Mist...I just got news of a dance coming up next Friday." Misty was jerked out of her thoughts as Ash mentioned something about a dance. "Really? Cool." "Yeah. Homecoming dance, actually." Misty thought. "Really?" "Yeah. Um...I was wondering if..." Ash stumbled over his words. "If what?" Misty asked softly. Ash looked at Misty. Her face seemed to glow with a radiant inner beauty that no one else had. Her sapphire eyes were dancing with curiosity. "Woudyaliketogowithmetohomecoming?" Ash said hurriedly. Those 9, jumbled words were like music to Misty's ears. "Of course!" That's when they both noticed how close they were. It was either Misty's light perfume or hormones that made him unbelievably dizzy. He shivered as Misty brought a hand to his face & traced a finger around his face. She brought the other hand around to the back of his neck. "You may not believe me, Ash, but I love you." "Mist..." Ash couldn't form the words that scurried around in his head. Misty dropped their gaze & took the silence as a bad thing. "I'm so sorry Ash. I know you didn't feel the same way, why would I--" Ash place a finger on her pert pink lips. He leaned forward & their lips touched. "Well, it looks like Operation: Hook Up was a success." Brock folded his arms across his chest, the other four behind him. "What? You mean Mission: Get-Together worked." Erika, Melody, Laselle, Giselle & Duplica stood behind them. "It was our idea!" Gary argued. "Sure." Erika rolled her eyes "Yeah. We even beat up Rudy, tied him up, & stuffed him in the trashcan!" Richie declared. "Who was the one who professed their love?" Melody pointed out. "Well, who asked who out?" Tracey retorted. "Face it both of our plans worked." Giselle looked at the two cuddling teens. They had fallen out of their chairs & were on the floor, making out fervently. "Maybe we should hose those two down," Giselle chuckled. ***AH, THE POWER OF YOUNG LUV...MUAH HAHAHAHA!
