Chapter 1 I Choose You! In the Town of Pallet, a yong girl named Crystal watches the clash of the Pokemon League on TV as she dreams about becoming a Pokemon Master herself.... Crystal’s world is populated with creatures known as Pokemon. These monsters are often captured and trained as pets, companions, and guardians. When Children become ten years old, they can get their Pokemon Training License. Prospective Pokemon Trainers can get beginners pokemon from the leading town expert, Professor Oak. Now that Crystal is old enough, she can’t wait to get a pokemon of her own and start training it! Crystal grabbed the Voltorb clock off her dresser and held it up in the air, “I will gain the wisdom of Pokemon training! And I hereby declare to the world.... I WILL BE A POKEMON MASTER!!! I will...” Crystal’s mom, Delia, opened the door, “Crystal get to bed! Its eleven o’clock and you should be asleep!” “But tomorrow I begin my Pokemon journey...” “Well.... watch this, it will help you get ready.” Delia changed the channel to Professor Oak time. “Good evening Pokemon students.” Came Professor Oak’s voice. “Tomorrow’s the big day! I’d like to introduce you to Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. There are several of each available. Which one will you choose? Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses, so choose wisely...” “Go to bed when this is over.” Delia said. “Alright, I’m going.” Crystal sighed. Crystal climbed up to her bed about an hour later and fell asleep... ~*~ Late the next morning.... “Doodriiiiooooo!” The pokemon Dodrio cried. “Mmm....” Crystal stirred. “Hmm? Oh no! What time is it!” Crystal hopped out of bed with her pajamas still on and ran out the door. “Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle..... any ones fine! Just leave one for me!” Crystal made her way to the lab where a crowd of people were gathered. “Gary! Gary! He’s our man!” A group of cheerleaders cheered. “If he can’t do it, no one can! Go, go, Gary!” Crystal pushed through the crowd, “You must be Crystal.” Gary said. “Better late then never I suppose.” “Gary!?” “Mister Gary to you! You snooze, you loose, I’ve got a Pokemon and you don’t.” “You got your first Pokemon?” “That’s right looser! Its right inside of this pokeball.” “I was wondering if you could tell me which kind of pokemon you got?” “None of your business kid! If you were here on time, you would’ve seen that I got the best Pokemon from the Professor. Its good to have your grandfather in the pokemon business isn’t it?” Gary hopped into his car and headed off. “I’ll show you!” Crystal shouted. “You must be Crystal. “ Professor Oak said Crystal turned around, “Heh heh Professor Oak, where’s my Pokemon? Please tell me there are pokemon left! I need my pokemon!” “Alright, follow me.” Crystal followed Professor Oak into the lab to a table where three pokeballs were sitting. “I’ve thought about it a lot, and it took me a long time, but I’ve decided on Squirtle.” Crystal opened up the pokeball which was empty. “Ahh...” “Already taken by somebody who was on time.” “Man, I wish I hadn’t overslept.... Now I’ll choose Bulbasaur.” She opened the pokeball and it was gone too. She opened Charmander’s who was gone too, “Charmander too!? Does this mean their all taken!?” “Well there is one left, but I–.” “Professor Oak! I’ll take it!” “I should warn you, there is a problem with this last one....” “I have to have a pokemon!” “In that case, don’t say I didn’t warn you....” Professor Oak handed her a shiny red and white pokeball with a lightning bolt on it. The pokeball opened and a small yellow pokemon appeared on the table, “Pikachu.” “Oh! Its so cute! It’s the best of all!” “Its name is Pikachu, you’ll see...” Crystal hugged the little mouse pokemon, “Hi Pikachu!” “Its also known as the “Electric Mouse.” It’s usually shy but–.” “Pika!” It cried and electrocuted Crystal. “It can sometimes have a, well, electrifying personality. Shocking isn’t it?” “I see what... you mean...” “Now take these, your pokedex and Pokeballs.” Professor Oak handed Crystal a pokedex and five pokeballs. “Thank... you...” Crystal said and Pikachu shocked them both. They headed outside and all of her family members were outside. “Crystal!” “Mom?” She asked. “Oh Crystal, I’m so proud of you.” Delia said. “I brought your things and... say, is that your pokemon? It looks a little weird.” Pikachu made a little growl and shocked them all. They all said their goodbyes and Crystal walked off, dragging the reluctant Pikachu behind her. ~*~ Crystal had on some rubber gloves and was dragging Pikachu behind her by a rope. “Pikachu, why don’t you just get inside the pokeball like it says you should in the pokedex?” Crystal knelt down next to the pokemon and opened up the pokedex for some information. While being trained, A pokemon usually stays inside its pokeball... However, there are many exceptions. Some pokemon hate being confined. Crystal pulled off her rubber gloves and took the leash of Pikachu, “Okay, I ditched the leash and the gloves— is that better?” Pikachu turned away and Crystal sighed. They both heard a rustle in the grass. “Huh? A Pidgey!” Crystal pulled out her pokedex. Pidgey is gentle and easy to capture. A perfect target for the beginning pokemon trainer to test his pokemon skills. “This is great! Its our lucky day! Go get him Pikachu!” “Pika!” Pikachu cried and ran up a tree. “Hey!” Crystal shouted. “Aren’t you ever gonna listen to me!? Okay, I get the message, I don’t want or need your help. I can get that thing on my own. Enjoy your last minutes of freedom Pidgey, cause your mine! Pokeball go!” Red light engulfed Pidgey and sucked it into the pokeball. I did it! Wait...” The pokeball popped open and the Pidgey flew away. “Pika pika pika!” Pikachu laughed. To capture a pokemon, you usually have your own pokemon fight with the other. “Hmm... I’ve got an idea! But I have to do everything myself! I’ll have to find another Pidgey...” Crystal heard a something rustle in the grass and noticed another bird Pokemon. “Okay, I’ll get you this time?” Crystal threw a rock at it, but it wasn’t a Pidgey. “I wonder what that is...” Spearow: Unlike Pidgey, this Pokemon has a terrible attitude. They are very wild and will sometimes attack other Pokemon and humans. “Speeeeeer!” The pokemon cried and flew at Crystal. She ducked and the pokemon headed for Pikachu. The Pokemon pecked Pikachu. “Hey! Don’t pick on Pikachu! She didn’t throw the rock at you!” Wild pokemon tend to be jealous of human-trained Pokemon. “Pipipi!” Pikachu cried. Spearow headed at Pikachu for a drill peck attack. “Pikachu watch out!” “Piiikaaachuuu!” “Spear...” The Spearow sighed.. “Kraaaaaa!” Suddenly, a whole flock of Spearow emerged from a nearby tree and started to fly at them. “Uh oh!” Lets get out of here!” They began running, and a Spearow hit the back of Crystal’s head and they all flew over and started attacking Pikachu. “Pika pi! Pipipi!” PIkachu cried. “Leave Pikachu alone Spearow!” Crystal shouted. She picked up the weak Pikachu and continued running. Crystal stopped at a cliff and looked behind her. “Don’t those stupid birds ever give up!?” She looked down the edge of the cliff. “Well Pikachu... here we go!” She shouted and jumped off. She landed with a splash in the water below. She got hooked on a fishing line. “Huh?” The girl asked. “Hey I got a bite! Wow, I this could be a really big one!” The girl yanked Crystal and Pikachu out of the water. “It’s a kid... Oh! And a pokemon! Are you okay!?” “Yea...” Crystal said rubbing her head. “I think so...” “Look what you’ve done to that poor creature! Is it breathing....” “Yea, but I need to get her to the nearest Pokemon Center.” “Well don’t just sit there! It needs a doctor right away. There’s a Pokemon Center not to far from here, you’ve got to keep moving.” Crystal looked into the sky. “They’re coming back!” and ran to the girls bike. “What are you doing!?” She demanded. “Hey! That’s my bike!” “I’ll give it back someday...” Crystal said and dashed off. “Hang on Pikachu.” “Why you little...!” Suddenly, it started to rain. “Just hang on okay Pikachu?” Crystal said. “We’re almost there!” The Spearow caught up to them and started pecking at them both. ‘Leave us alone Spearow!” Crystal and Pikachu flew over a cliff and fell off the bike. “Oh-no! Pikachu....!” “Pi...ka...chu...” Pikachu panted. Crystal pulled out a pokeball. “Pikachu, this can’t be happening, get inside please....” “Chuuuuuu....” “I know your afraid of going in there, but if your inside, maybe I can save you. Please Pikachu....please listen to me and go inside.... After that...after that... just trust me...” Crystal set the pokeball down next to Pikachu and stood up to face the Spearow. “Spearow! Do you know who I am!? I’m Crystal Ketchum from the Town of Pallet! I’m destined to become the worlds number one Pokemon Master! I’m going to defeat and capture you all! Come and get me!” “Pipipi! Pika!” Pikachu ran to Crystal and jumped onto her shoulder. “Pikachu?” “Piiikaaachuuuu!!!” She cried and attacked them all. ~*~ As the sunlight began to break through the clouds, Pikachu and Crystal were lying on the ground. “Well... we beat`em...” Crystal said. “Pi...ka...” Pikachu said and nodded. Suddenly, they heard a beautiful sound from the sky. They both looked up and noticed a beautiful rainbow colored Pokemon flying over the rainbow. “What’s that?” Crystal asked. The pokedex activated, There is no data. There are still many pokemon yet to be identified. Crystal noticed Viridian city just ahead. She picked up Pikachu and headed for it. “Pika...” Pikachu said and licked Crystal’s cheek. Crystal smiled and continued walking. This is just the beginning o the amazing adventures of Crystal and Pikachu. As their story unfolds, they’ll unlock the magic and mystery of a most wondrous place– The incredible World of Pokemon
