Chapter 2 Pokemon Emergency Last time, Crystal, our hero from Pallet, chose Pikachu, a pokemon that was not thrilled with its new trainer. Soon, the pair found themselfs fighting off a flock of fearsome Spearow. Pikachu saved the day with its amazing thundershock, but the electrifying encounter left Pikachu weak– with her fate in Crystal’s hands. “Attention, citizens of Viridian City!” Came Officer Jenny’s voice (The one with a star on her hat) “We have reports of Pokemon Poachers in the vicinity! Be on the lookout for suspicious trainers.” Officer Jenny noticed Crystal heading into town with Pikachu in her arms. “Hold it!” Crystal froze. “Where do you think you’re going with that Pokemon!?” “Its my Pokemon and its hurt!” Crystal said. “I’ve got to get it to the Pokemon Center right away!” “Oh, I’m sorry... I just thought you might be stealing it. Just show me your ID, then you can go.” “ID? Uh... I don’t have any.... You see, we just came from Pallet and we–.” “Its very unusual for someone to be carrying a pokemon around in his arms and not in a pokeball.” Jenny interrupted. “How do I know you didn’t steal that Pokemon? Especially since you don’t have an ID.” “Please let me through. I... I wouldn’t steal a pokemon and I’ve got to get Pikachu to the hospital... please miss...” “Hey, what’s that in your pocket?” “What?” Crystal asked and pulled out her pokedex, “Oh this?” Jenny grabbed the pokedex, “A pokedex will solve our problem. Lets see if you’re the real deal!” “I didn’t realize my pokedex was also my ID...” I’m Dexter, a pokedex programed by Professor Oak for Pokemon Trainer Crystal Ketchum from the Town of Pallet. My function is to provide Crystal with information and advice regarding Pokemon and their training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced. Crystal grabbed her pokedex, “Can I take Pikachu to the Pokemon Center now?” “I’ll get you there in no time.” Jenny said and pushed Crystal into the motorcycle car. “Sit back! Hold on! And don’t yell!” Jenny drove off leaving the girl from before coughing in the dust. “Cough, cough, Hey what’s the big idea!? Come back here!” ~*~ Meanwhile, in a hot air balloon shaped like a Meowth, a boy names James and a girl named Jessie were plotting... “This picture makes me look terrible!” James said. “Then you should be happy the photographer captured the real you.” Jessie said. “We’ll show these bumpkins!” “The people of Viridian City will be sorry they ever saw this face.” “We’re all sorry to see your face.” Their Meowth said. “Stay focused! We’re here to capture rare and unusual pokemon!” “Yeah, yeah, whatever Meowth.” Jessie and James said. “Don’t you two forget it! And remember, I’m the top cat!” ~*~ “The Pokemon Center is gigantic!” Crystal said amazed. “This is gonna be tricky!” Jenny said. She sped through the doors of the Pokemon Center “We have a driveway you know!” Joy with a red cross on her hat said. “It’s a pokemon emergency.” Jenny said. “Looks like a Pikachu... we’ll do what we can. I need a stretcher for a small electric type Pokemon.” “Chansey.” The pokemon said and brought a stretcher to Nurse Joy. “We’ll begin treatment right away.” “If there’s anything I can do, just tell me...” Crystal said. “You’re the Pokemon’s trainer right? Well, you can be more responsible from now on! If you want to become a Pokemon trainer, don’t let your pokemon battle if its in this condition! Now we have to devote our energies to healing your Pikachu. And you’ll just have to wait in the waiting room.” Joy walked through the doors and slammed them in Crystal’s face. “But can’t I....” she started. “Oh well.... I guess I should call home...” Crystal used the video phone to call home, “Oh! Hi honey, is everything okay? Where are you Crystal?” “I’m in the Pokemon Center in Viridian City mom.” “Really!? It took your father four days to get there when he started training his pokemon! Oh, he’ll be so proud of you! You’re the apple of his eye!” “Yeah... a rotten apple.” “Crystal, don’t talk that way! You can do anything that you set your mind too!” “Sure mom, goodnight.” Crystal hung up the phone and headed back to the bench when something caught her eye. It was a picture of the Pokemon she saw fly over the rainbow. “That’s the flying Pokemon I saw!” Suddenly the phone began to ring. It was Professor Oak! “Crystal! Its Professor Oak! Your mother told me that your in Viridian City already! Is that right?” “I couldn’t be talking to you if I weren’t. After all, you called me at the Viridian City Pokemon Center Professor.” “Oh right. Well, when you left Pallet I though, ‘There’s a girl who’ll go far.’ I told Gary that I’d eat my hat if you didn’t have a new pokemon by the time you reached Viridian City!” “Is it a Cowboy Hat?” “Yes! A ten gallon cowboy hat...” “Cause I did see a flying pokemon just like that one! It flew right over the rainbow!” “Don’t talk such nonsense! You couldn’t have seen Ho-oh! Trainers have searched their whole lives for this pokemon and have never seen it! You must be mistaken!” “It sure looked like it....” “Wait! There’s my Pizza! Coming! Nice talking to you Crystal, good luck!” “Bye Professor....” “Mmm... Anchovies, spinach, and pineapple!” “There you are!” The girl with blue hair from before shouted. She had a rusty old bike on her shoulder. “Now I’ve got you!” “Hey! What happened to your bike!?” “What happened to my bike!? You happened to my bike, you little looser!” She shouted. “This is all that’s left of it after you stole it to save your pokemon!” “Yea, Pikachu’s not doing so well...” “Huh? Is it seriously hurt?” The light for the emergency room switched off and Joy walked out. “Pikachu! Are you alright!?” “Your Pikachu is resting. It’s a good thing you got it here so fast. The procedure went well and Pikachu should be fine. Right now, your pokemon needs a good rest in the recovery room.” “Your attention please!” Came Jenny’s voice. “Viridian City radar has detected an aircraft belonging to a gang of pokemon poachers. If you have pokemon in your possession, exercise extreme caution! Repeat, exercise extreme caution!” ~*~ “I guess we woke up this sleepy dump.” Jessie said. “How dare they act like we’re criminals,” James said. “They should welcome Team Rocket.” “We’ll teach them to respect that name.” “Meowth!” Meowth cried. “And when we steal all of their pokemon, those scared little mice will know I’m the top cat!” “We know Meowth! We know!” They threw two pokeballs into the pokemon center. “Koffing!” “Ekansssss!” “Who are they!?” Crystal asked. “Don’t be frightened little girl.” Jessie said. “Little girl!?!?!” Crystal demanded. “Allow us to introduce ourselfs!” “Prepare for trouble!” “Make it double!” “To protect the world from devastation.” “To unite all peoples within our nation.” “To denounce the evils of truth and love.” “To extend our reach to the stars above.” “Jessie.” “James.” “Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light.” “Surrender now or prepare to fight.” “Meowth! That’s right!” Meowth chimed in. “What are you talking about?” Crystal asked. “She just doesn’t get it does she?” Jessie asked. “We’re here for your pokemon!” James said. Suddenly, the power went out. “Your not getting Pikachu.” Crystal said. “We’re not interested in your electric rat!! We only want rare pokemon.” Jessie said. “They must’ve cut the power.” Joy said. “But we have our own ‘Pika’ power source.” A whole bunch of Pikachu’s appeared and a machine used their electricity to bring the power back on. “Wow! Look at all these Pikachu!” Crystal and Sabrina (The girl from before) exclaimed. Nurse Joy activated a computer. “We have to save all the pokemon. This is the Viridian City Pokemon Center. We have an emergency situation and must transport pokeballs.” “This is the Pewter City Pokemon Center.” Came a voice. “Down loader activated. Ready to receive Pokeballs.” Nurse Joy started placing pokeballs in the transporter. “Come on you two, pick up those pokeballs!” “This is war! Don’t just hold`em throw`em!” Sabrina shouted. “Uh...” Crystal said picking up a pokeball. “Alright!” She said and turned her hat. “Pokeball go!” “Pidgey!” The Pokemon cried. “Ekanssssss!” “Piiii!” Pidgey cried. Jessie, James, and Meowth burst out laughing. “That puny thing can’t beat us!” Jessie said. “This one feels like a winner. Pokeball go!” Crystal said. “Rattata!” “What a pipsqueak.” James said. “What are we going to do now?” Crystal asked. “I guess I’m going to have to take this into my own hands.” Sabrina said. “You grab Pikachu and get outta here. I’ll take care of theses two clowns. I’ll show you! Pokeball go!” “Gold Goldeen!” Team Rocket burst out laughing again. “That’s her best shot?” Jessie asked. “She’s all washed up...” James said. “Uh... Hello!” Crystal said. “Earth to Sabrina. Water pokemon can’t battle on land!” “Just get Pikachu out of here.” Sabrina said. Crystal started to push Pikachu away, but tripped on Crystal’s bike. “Pika pi...?” All the Pikachu’s jumped onto the stretcher with Pikachu. “Hey Pikachu, are you okay?” “Pika!” She cried happily. “Do I have ta do everything?” Meowth asked. “That mouse is cat food! Meowth! Just wait, Pikachu, your mine!” Pikachu turned to Crystal, “Pika pika!” “Pika pika?” Crystal asked. “....Pika...Power...?” “Pi.” Pikachu nodded. “Alright!” Crystal said and flipped the switch to high power. “Pikachu and I are gonna generate a little excitement for ya Meowth.” “Meowth...?” Jessie, James, and Meowth all asked. “Alright Pikachu! Now!” “Pika! Piiikaaachuuu!” The whole Pokemon center exploded and Team Rocket was sent flying. “That’s no ordinary Pikachu.” Jessie said. “It’s certainly very rare– a perfect prize. We’ll catch it when they least expect it.” “Team Rockets blasting off again!” ~*~ The next morning..... “Your Viridian City Pokemon were all transported here safely.” The Joy from Pewter City said. “Thanks sis.” Joy said on the phone. “Crystal, Sabrina, and Pikachu are now on their way to Pewter City.... We’ll see if they can make it safely through Viridian Forest... “Don’t worry.” Jenny said. “From what I’ve seen, they can take care of themselfs.” “I hope your right.” Joy said. ~*~ Later, Crystal, Sabrina, and Pikachu set out through the dark, maze-like Viridian Forest. “Oh cool!” Crystal shouted happily. “Ahhhh!” Sabrina screamed. “Its just a Caterpie...” Crystal said. “Even if it’s a pokemon, bugs are disgusting and I don’t like them! Do something!” “Alright, stand back.” Crystal said and pulled out a pokeball. “This one’ll be a piece of cake. Pokeball go!”
