Part 5

(You thought they were going to get locked out didn’t you?)

Nurse Joy was already at the door, so she waited.

“You kids are lucky! Now get to your room!” an irritated Nurse Joy yelled.

Still catching their breath, they slowly walked to their room. Then they remembered… they had to share a room……. Together.

“So….um…Ash?”

“Yes Misty?”

“Would you say that we just went on a date?” Misty asked shyly.

“Umm… well, I suppose so………yes. Why do you ask, Misty?” in an embarrassed yet curious voice.

“No r-reason, just wondering,…………… I’ve got to change, can you turn around please?”

“Oh, yeah, sure no problem”<he turns around>. “So, did you like the movie, Misty?”

“Yeah, it was a really sweet movie.”

“Mmhhmm…… ‘I wish I could say something… tell her, maybe, that tonight was the best night of my life…’ yeah, it was a great movie.”

“Yeah,…it sure was… ‘Say it, Misty, say it! Tell him you love him like nothing else, come on!!..’

“Well, it doesn’t really matter if you turn around or not, I have boxers on…”

“I’m going to lie down already, actually”

“Ok”

He changed, and lay down in his bed on the other side of the room. It was silent again. It reminded Ash of a couple of nights ago, when he was lying under the stars with his Pikachu. He finally remembered all of his thoughts, in detail. Then he spoke.

“Misty, can we talk about something… a little personal?”

“Sure Ash, what?”

“Well, I’m in love, I think, with this girl that I’ve know for a while. In fact I know I am. I can’t seem to get her out of my mind. She makes me really mad sometimes, I’m not really sure if she even likes me back. All I think about is her.”

“Oh?...... ‘I’m so crushed, I knew he didn’t like me, I can’t believe I did this to myself’ W-what do you need help with?”

“I don’t know how to tell her that she has been underneath my nose the whole entire time and well that I can’t live without her. Well I guess my question really is how would you want to be told something like that? How do girls want to hear it?”

“<Misty already in silent tears and heart broken> If I were me, I would want to be told just the way you said it. But you do need to tell her, because if you don’t you’ll regret it. Who in the right mind would turn you down anyway?”

“Okay, thanks Misty.”

Silence fell again. Misty had wiped away her tears, and lied there hoping with all her heart she had left that a train would come and run her over. Ash was slowly building up the courage to do what he had wanted for a very long time.

“<I can do this, I can do this> Misty Waterflower?!”

“Yes Ash?”

“I l-l-love you!”

“Waaaaaaa? You what??!! How could you do this??”

Ash ran to Misty’s side and turned on her lamp. She tried to hit him, but it didn’t work, he threw his arms around her and said “I love you Misty. I have for a long time. When we fight it kills me, I hate to be mad at you because of the way I feel. I can’t live without you and never want to.”

“I love you too, Ash.”

She wrapped her arms around him and whispered “so very much…”

Ash turned off the lights and lied down with Misty. He was awake for quite sometime, until he knew she was fast asleep in his arms. Ash thought about all his lonely nights and knew, now, that they were gone forever. Right before he closed his eyes, he whispered “Misty, you are my best friend, my girlfriend, and I love you. And some times you find your true love in your best-friend. You are found, Misty, you are found.”

Then he drifted off into the most pleasant slumber he had ever had.
