Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon, or Sailor Moon, or any other Animé cartoon…blah blah blah (you get the point!) Please give me reviews on this fic. It’s not my first and I’ll be damned if it’s my last. Enjoy!

PP: Okay peoples, this is my first try at a Pokémon fanfic that revolves around actual characters, not just ones that I’ve made up. Try not to Flame me too bad, okay? Thankies!

Mixed Emotions

Written by Panda Pants

Misty looked at herself in the restroom mirror at one of the many roadside Pokémon Centers.

" What am I going to do?" she sighed softly to herself. For the past two weeks, she’d been traveling with not only Ash and Brock, but a new boy as well. It was Richie. He was now just as close to her as Ash and Brock.

Lately she’d noticed that she was beginning to like both Ash and Richie more than just as friends.

Ash was cute, funny, and kind of affectionate when it came to her. She knew she loved him. Everything from his jet black hair to his dark brown eyes to his well toned body made her quiver with excitement.

Richie and her had been friends since her first trip to the Pokémon League. More and more, he’d try to protect her, sort of like a big brother would be (This was rather ironic, seeing as how he is slightly shorter than she is). His auburn hair and deep blue eyes were a serious turn on. He was affectionate, sweet, funny, smart, handsome, everything a girl would possibly want in a guy, and yet she was hesitant.

What if neither of them liked her that way? Their friendships would be ruined!

Misty thought of this as she exited the restroom. She sighed suddenly as she heard two rather familiar voices bickering. Turning a corner, she found that her assumption had been correct.

Ash and Richie were, once again, arguing. This wasn’t new. Ever since they’d begun to travel together, Ash and Richie had started to act like they themselves were siblings. That meant that not only did they have a strong bond with one another, but there was a large amount of arguing over trivial things as well.

Ash had Richie in a headlock while telling him that, " There’s no way I could even slightly like her like that! Misty’s just my friend, not my girlfriend!"

" Really now…?" Richie choked slightly as Ash’s grip tightened.

" Yeah. I’d never ever think about Misty like that! I could never actually love her! We’re just friends!"

Tears filled the girl’s eyes. Ash didn’t love her. What was she going to do?

Misty turned around quickly and ran back to the restroom, heartbroken. Ash was the one she loved, not Richie. Richie was just a friend, a big brother almost. Ash meant so much more to her. Now he said that he didn’t love her back.

Thousands of emotions began to churn inside the girls head. First there was depression, for she had just learned that the only boy she’d truly given her heart to didn’t care for her. Next was anger. Why hadn’t she seen this coming? It was so obvious that he didn’t like her. How could she have been so blind?!

Misty was torn from her reverie by banging and shouting coming from the other side of the restroom door.

The girl searched her backpack and took out a small portable radio. She switched it on and turned up the volume as high as it could go.

" Misty, I know you’re in there! Misty, please listen to me! I just want to talk!" Richie’s voice pleaded, drifting into the small room over the blaring music.

Misty turned away from the door. There was no way she would let Richie in. She had too much to deal with already. She didn’t need him pitying her…

* Or do you…?* a small voice said.

Misty’s eyes went wide as she searched for the source of the voice. .She then slowly but surely realized who was talking…

* I’m your heart…* the voice explained.

Misty sweatdropped.

* You’re confused because all this time you thought that Ashton Ketchum was the one for you. When you found that he wasn’t your true love, you didn’t know what to think. You believe that Richie is nothing more than an overprotective friend. You may not think you need him, but you do…*

Misty shook her head, disagreeing with the voice.

* Misty Kasumi Waterflower, open that door and let him in. He only wants to help you. He truly loves you.*

Misty tried to stop herself, but soon found that she couldn’t.

As she threw open the door, a new song began to play on the radio…

*Music begins to play…*

(*Misty stares at Richie, her face shining with tears*)

When I think about the first time (first time)

I thought I found someone who cared for me

But things were not as they appeared to be

(*She collapses into his arms, crying hysterically*)

Rainy Day Man, on your shoulder I cried

When my first brush with love left me shaking inside

Rainy Day Man (Rainy Day Man)

(*Richie cradles the girl in his arms while whispering comforting ideas to her*)

Ever since I can remember (remember)

Just like a brother, you’ve been strong and true

Always been the one to see me through!

(*Misty looks up at the boy, amazed at his behavior*)

Rainy Day Man, you’re much more than a friend

I would give anything just to see you again

Rainy Day Man (Rainy Day Man, Rainy Day Man)

(*Richie mouths the words "I love you" to the girl*)

… Always been the one to see me through!

Rainy Day Man, on your shoulder I cried

When my first brush with love left me shaking inside

Rainy Day Man, you’re much more than a friend

I would give anything just to see you again

Rainy Day Man (Rainy Day Man, Rainy Day Man, Rainy Day Man, Rainy Day Man…)

(*Misty gazes up at the boy as the song ends, her eyes filling with tears of joy*)

*Music ends*

Misty snuggled into Richie’s warm embrace. Her heart was right. This boy, the one who had seen it all with her, was her true love…

The four trainers left the Pokémon Center, each in high spirits…

PP: So, what do you think? Did it suck? Really? Did it? This is the first time I’ve ever (intentionally) written a romance story, so feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks! Ciao!
