“Mom! Mom! Can I go now? Please please please!!” A loud laugh, and a thick arm wrapped around the ten year old girl’s waist, and a man kissed her forehead. “Dad!” The girl squealed, hugging him tightly. The man laughed, his dark blue eyes twinkling. A young woman, with dark brown hair and light green eyes was holding a tissue to the tears trailing down her cheeks. “Karly, are you sure?” The man asked. The woman moved and stood beside the man, saying quietly, “Jacob, S-she’s too young.” “Oh Jasmine, our Karly is the exact same age as we were when we started our Pokemon journey.” Jacob replied, smiling as the girl wriggled her way out of her father’s arms and watched her parents. “Mom, can I go and get my Pokemon now? Please please please?” Karly asked, jumping up and down. The light brown haired girl wore a black vest over a black and pen horizontally striped shirt. Loose jeans hung from her hips, and over some runners. Jasmine hesitated, before opening her arms. Karly ran to them, hugging her mother ferociously. “I love you, baby. Be careful.” Jasmine breathed, tears running down her face, before Karly pulled away, and her and her father shared a big bear hug. “Careful out there, Kar. You have our number if you need to call us.” Jacob said, and Karly noticed his eyes were glistening. She reached up and wiped the tear the trickled from his eye. “Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll be fine.” It was when Karly finally slung her bag strap over her shoulder, and left the house, both parents began to cry. “Professor! Professor, are you here?” Karly called, knocking and opening the door. It was empty; this wasn’t unusual for the small lab. All the rest of the children have already turned ten; she was the youngest in the whole population of only a mere 23 people. “Karly? Karly! Happy Birthday, dear child!” A voice called; distant but cheery. Karly beamed when an old, but strong looking woman came to the door from the back, arms wide and a grin on her face. “Hello Grandma!” Karly said, happy no one else was around. Although her grandmother was a Pokemon Professor and a Breeder, Karly was glad to say that it was just Grandma to her. “Happy birthday. I assume you’re here to get your Pokemon, hmm?” “Oh yes please, Grandma!” Karly squealed, jumping up and down once her grandmother grinned. The old woman was tall, with white hair, and beautiful blue eyes. It was her mother’s mother. “Alright. Come, I’ll let you choose.” Quietly ushering the child into one of the back rooms, Karly smiled, seeing all the different Pokemon her Grandmother owned and bred for people. Jumping enthusiastically around her Grandmother, the old woman laughed and walked her to where one Pokeball laid out on a pedestal. “Oh Grandma, is that mine?” Karly whispered, beginning to clutch onto her grandmother’s hand, as she nodded. She reached foreword and brought the Pokeball into her Granddaughter’s hands. “Here, call it out.” Her grandmother said softly, as Karly gripped the Pokeball in her hand. “O-okay.” Karly whispered. “Go Pokemon!” A flash of white light, and Karly shut her eyes. When a noise, like a purr sounded, she opened her eyes, and gasped. It was an Eevee. “Oh Grandma!” Karly squealed, picking up the small Pokemon and cradling it gently in her arms. The Pokemon Professor laughed, and hugged Karly. “There you are, darling. Now, take this, and these,” Karly shrugged her bag down, so her Grandmother can supply it with five Pokeballs, and a Pokédex. Another hug later and Karly was walking out, waving over her shoulder to her grandmother. Saying her last good byes to New Bark Town.
