Prologue The Life of a Pirate…the sound of it is exciting, to explore great lands, to meet all sorts of people and Pokemon, to find treasure, and to explore the vast sea. The adventure taking place just makes you want to be filled with joy. It feels so open, fresh, and it makes you feel so free. It makes you feel like you are your own person. And, it even makes you feel like you can do what ever you want. But, that is not true. Some pirates know right from wrong and some don’t. In the case of one pirate, Ash Ketchum knows this moral. The story I’m going to tell ye is about this gallant, young lad. He is a brave young lad. He is the kind of person you want to be around…sort of a role model. He always is intrepid towards everything he encounters. When ever he confronts a nerve racking task, malicious conniver, or any kind of evil doer, he confronts it, even though he is scared to death. He is also a loving, caring, deep hearted person. He cares for those close to him, is gregarious, amicable, and graciously accepts all sorts of new friends. Ash was a Captain, commanding along his fellow crew. They have been the best of friends for a long time. They were Brock, Max, and Misty. It was a small crew, but they didn’t feel like it was. They felt like a team, and that is what gave them the strength and ambition to conquer the seas. They were a fine crew to Ash, more than he could ask for. Each contributed to the processes of the ship. Brock was the main supervisor of the ship. He made sure everything was running smoothly and efficiently. He also was the cook, since he had excellent culinary skills. Max was the look out for the ship. He also was the navigations specialist. He made sure that they were where they needed to be, and he plotted destinations and made sure they stayed on course. Misty was Ash’s Assistant Captain. They were an excellent team, which was what lead them to be Co. Captains. They knew when and how to make right decisions, tough or not, and when they were unsure of what to do, they turned to each other for help. They were the perfect team. They were out at sea on their proud vessel they called the S.S. Pidgeot. It wasn’t a normal day for them. They were out on a hunt for treasure. But, this was no ordinary treasure they were looking for. Max had plot a destination point for an island called Kyogre Isle in the Hoenn Region. Little known to them, this would be the biggest adventure of their lives. “Mast the Stern, so we can come about faster!” yelled Brock as he was trying to call out commands and help at the same time to Max. They had put another mast up at the stern and they were going even faster than before. “Ok, Max, time for a break.” Brock said with a smile on his face. As they sat down, Brock asked Max a question. “Avast ye, Max, Kyogre Island, the island we are going to, what exactly made the myth be there? What if the treasure isn’t there? What if it’s not even real?” “That’s a good question.” Max said as he adjusted his glasses. “Well, nothing can determine that it’s really, truthfully there. It could be anywhere in Kanto, Johto, or Hoenn. It’s just legends and myths point out that it’s located here.” “I’ve never heard those stories before...it’s kind of embarrassing.” Brock said as he scratched his head with embarrassment. “Don’t worry about it.” Max said with a smile on his face. “Here’s how the tale of all tales goes:” “A long time ago, when all humans and Pokemon lived in prosperity, everybody seemed happy, and it seemed there was no evil in the world, there was. Unknown to the world, a secret organization, Team Rocket, was planning something. No knows exactly what they were planning, but myth has it that it had to do with world chaos and pandemonium. My favorite myth is this: Team Rocket was evil…very evil…the most evil organization in the world. And, one of the organization’s evil deeds, that gave it its reputation, is the robbing of ships, and the invasion of islands for treasure. Team Rocket was treasure hungry. They thought nothing else of it and world domination… It just shivers me timbers that they would do something like that.” Max said, as he looked like he got a chill. He held his head low. “…They robbed so much…and got away so many times, that they had too much cash to carry…so they dumped it.” He lifted his head back up. “But…no one knows where it is, for sure. We don’t even know if this organization is still foreboding the world with its harring ways… I hope they aren’t… Those evil deeds have tortured many in the past…” Max then got an angry look on his face. “I’d like to keel haul each and every one of them and send them to Davy Jones’s Locker!!!” “Now Max, you know we don’t do those kinds of tactics now a days…but you are right. What they have done is not something we can just ignore. But still, we shouldn’t lower ourselves down to the standards of pirates back in the old days.” Brock said seriously. “…You’re right…what was I thinking?” He said as he held his head down once more. “I’d just hope they don’t exist anymore…” “Same here…same here…” Brock said, as he patted Max on the back comfortingly. While Max and Brock were still discussing the matter, Ash and Misty were at the bow of the ship. Ash was behind the wheel, while Misty was guiding using the map Max had laid out. “We head 10 miles east then 30 miles north, north west. That should put us in the general location of the island.” Misty said. “Max can find the island from sight, once we get there.” “Aye, aye. By my estimation we shall be arriving in two to three days. That is if we don’t run into any trouble.” Ash said while still looking abroad the sea. He had a serious look on his face. Misty noticed this look. “Ash, is there something bothering you? You look like someone gave you the black spot.” She said with a caring voice. Ash paused for a moment then answered. “……Misty……what if this treasure isn’t real? What if it was brought about just a myth?” “Ash, we don’t know if this treasure is real or not. It could have even been dumped all over Hoenn, for all we know.” She put a hand on Ash’s shoulder, “…but, we can never stop hoping. If we give it up, we would be out here for nothing, because if we lost all hope, that burning desire we have inside, to find the treasure, would be gone……and what would be the point if we have no ambition?” Ash looked turned towards Misty with no expression on his face…it was blank. But, then all of a sudden Ash gave Misty a hug. “…Thank you Misty…” That moment was a moment that they would remember for the rest of their lives. Those three words were so meaningful, that they both could feel its power…three words so meaningful that it would change their lives forever. The power in them had a profound effect of their feelings for each other… They just don’t know it yet. Maybe there is something blocking that information from getting to them. Maybe it’s too soon…too soon for them to realize these feelings. Perhaps they will have to go through an experience...an experience that shows how much they mean to each other, and the price they would have to pay if they lost each other. Who knows? This is only the beginning of their adventure. There is going to be much more toil and hardship along the way, more joyous moments, but sadly more mournful moments, more evil villains trying to stop them in their path. All of this is exciting but scary at times. We just have to lean to enjoy those exciting times and bear the dreaded, because this is The Life of a Pirate. That’s the end for the Prologue. Please Review. This is one of my most enjoyable Fanfics to write.
