Chapter 01: On top of the world "I'm going to die," Misty murmured. "Oh my God, I'm going to die." Ash rolled his eyes. "You're NOT going to die. Stop being such a drama queen." "We're at the top of the world and we're going to plunge to our deaths," continued Misty, who wasn't paying attention to a word Ash said. "It's just a roller coaster," Ash reminded her as the cart made it to the top of the hill. Misty grabbed Ash for dear life and screamed at the top of her lungs as it went down... Down... She shut her eyes tightly and the wind blew her hair back to hit the face of the people behind them. It took her a moment to realize that the roller coaster had stopped, and that she was still alive. "Do you want to go again?" Ash asked her with a wicked little grin. Misty turned pale. "As if!" she exclaimed. "I'm NEVER doing that again." "Misty!" called a high-pitched voice. Misty looked to her left. No one. Then to the right. No one. Finally, she looked behind her. By a rickety fence stood Becky Taylor, Sharon Thomas and Kristen Iverson, three of the most popular girls in their grade. Becky beckoned to her. "I'll be right back," she muttered under her breath and then strutted to meet the girls she called her friends. "Were you hanging out with Ketchum?" sneered Becky, her blond, curly hair bobbing in it's ponytail. Misty faked a look of disgust. "Of course not!" "I bet she's lying," giggled Kristen. "They were only standing like, right next to each other." "There is like, no way that I would hang out with Ash Ketchum. He's like, a total loser!" exclaimed Misty, crossing her fingers behind her back. "Prove it then," Sharon said, crossing her arm across her middle. Misty was confused. "Huh?" "Prove that he's not your friend, Misty. Prove it by helping me with something," Becky challenged. "Okay, what?" Misty questioned. "I am going to go out with Ketchum," Becky started. "I'm going to make him fall for me and then I'll dump him in front of the whole school and totally humiliate him." "Okay, I guess so," Misty replied. The three sauntered off, leaving Misty alone with her thoughts. She bounded back to Ash and told him that she had a headache and went back home. Would it really be worth it?
