Season 1: Kanto Chapter One: The Rocket Attack! “Darren. Darren, wake up! Today’s the day!” Darren woke up to his Pikachu alarm clock. Darren recorded himself saying the message into his clock, and set it for 5 am. He was waking up so early because he was a terrible packer. He didn’t pack his stuff up yet! He was 11 years old. He could have started one year ago but he wanted to learn more about Pokemon before actually going out. He got out of bed, grabbed all of the clothes on the floor, and stuffed them into his back pack. Then he grabbed his favorite Pokemon T- shirt and his jeans and put them on. He was ready! Darren’s parents weren’t up yet, so he left a note. “Went out on my Pokemon journey. Be back in three years. Darren.” Darren, of course, was just kidding but he felt guilty not telling his parents. So he threw the note away and wrote another one. “Dear Mom and Dad. I’m going off on my Pokemon journey. I didn’t want to tell you because I knew you would disapprove. You would talk about how I’m not ready for the outside world, but I know I am. I’ll be back in a few months. Don’t forget me. Darren. P.S. I’ll tell Damon you miss him.” Damon was his older brother, who went out on his journey a few years ago. He was 17 now, and he had traveled the far regions Johto and Hoenn. He was now gym leader of one of the cities in the Utac region, the newest region discovered. He grabbed a bagel, some orange juice, and a mini waffle and headed out the door. Darren headed for Professor Oak’s lab. He couldn’t wait to get a Pokemon! But as he walked in, Professor Oak’s lab was empty, including Prof. Oak himself. “Hello? Anyone there?” asked Darren, not really expecting an answer. Then he heard some deep voices. “Professor Oak, we heard that you give away Pokemon to rookies.” Darren felt bad being a rookie. “No, they are not rookies! They are beginning trainers. What do you want, Team Rocket?” Team Rocket! Thought Darren. “I want those Pokemon! Give all of your Pokemon to me now!” Darren heard Professor Oak’s reply, then a crash. “Oh, what happened to Prof. Oak?” cried Darren. Then he spotted a Poke’ball on a desk. It had a gold sticker on it. Darren didn’t have time to wonder what was inside of it. He ran into the room. “Go, Poke’ball!” cried Darren, throwing it. The Rocket Grunt looked stunned at first, then realized what was happening. “Hey, kid! Get out of here!” Darren shook his head as the Pokemon came out. “Good! An Eevee! Eevee, Tackle attack!” Eevee looked over to Prof. Oak, the one who raised it, and cared for it. Prof. Oak nodded. “Do what he says.” Eevee nodded, and then ran towards the grunt and tackled him, which made the grunt fall over. “Now Quick attack, and then Slam!” Eevee ran at a super fast speed and tackled him again, and then Eevee slammed his head into him. The grunt was getting fumed. “Go, Elekid and Charmeleon!” The grunt sent out a weird new Pokemon! “Heh, this Pokemon hasn’t been discovered yet except in Rocket laboratories. Of course, I can’t tell you where they are, or you meddling brats will try to break in. So feel the rage of my Pokemon! Charmeleon, Fire Blast! Elekid, Thunder punch!” Eevee couldn’t take all of the heat and fainted. Darren returned it to its Pokeball. “I’ll handle this,” said Prof. Oak. He had two Pokeballs as well. The grunt looked scared. “Go, my Pokemon!” Kingler and Scyther came out! “Kingler, Vicegrip! Scyther, Slash!” Both moves made the two Pokemon faint, which made the grunt scream in agony. “Oh, I’m gone, but I’ll be back, old man!” cried the Grunt, running away. Prof. Oak turned to Darren. You did exceptionally well with Eevee. You know a lot about Pokemon, don’t you? You’re the very first to get here!” Darren grinned. “Yeah, I’m 11. I wanted to go at 10, but…” “Your parents wouldn’t let you? The same thing happened to me, but look at me now.” Darren smiled. “I know that you want a Pokemon, so I think you should take Eevee. Eevee already seems to like you. All I have to do is heal Eevee, and you’ll be ready!” Darren smiled. Prof. Oak placed Eevee into the healing machine in the back of his lab. “Now, I have to give you your Poke’dex, five Poke’balls, and your trainer identification license.” He did. Darren was getting really excited. “Now here’s Eevee take good care of it!”
