Willis, Lizzie and I were snoring loudly in our hotel room. Our third day in Lead City. The gym would officially open in two days.
I was awoken by my alarm clock. "Muffu rurmpin ahan cloff," I murmured as I reached out a foot and kicked my alarm clock off of the stand.
Lizzie reached down and smacked me on the head. "Don't use language like that." She let out a yawn and I heard her snoring again 4 or 5 seconds later. 8 seconds tops...
Willis who was sleeping in a bed on the other side of the room, stood at the ceiling with his eyes wide open. He was snoring, though.
I yawned and tried to fall back asleep, but soon the sun was beaming down on my face through the window. I groaned and pulled the covers over my head, but I couldn't fall back to sleep.
With a grunt I threw the covers off of me and put a clean shirt on. Pikachu jumped off of the bed excitedly. Lizzie looked down at me. "Where are you going?"
I shrugged. "Just going for a walk. I'll be right back."

Pikachu followed me as we walked through the streets. The sun was shining brightly. I sat down on a bench and looked around. Butterfree's and Beautifly's flew through the air, leaving glitter trailing after them.
     "Help me! Help!"
Pikachu's ears perked up. I looked up and saw that two men had a girl pinned up against a tree. One of them held a knife close to her throat and the other had his hand balled into a fist.
"Give me the money!" the first one said.
I motioned for Pikachu to keep quirt and then I tiptoed around the side of a tree. The second guy struck the girl in the face. She fell to the ground and her purse fell also. They slapped high fives.
One of them reached for it, but an unusual colored Noctowl swooped down and grabbed the purse instead.
     My Noctowl.
"Noctowl, use a Psybeam!" I commanded. Noctowl clutched the purple purse in his talons and shot a purple ray of light from his brow. It nailed one of the guys in the chest. He stumbled backwards and fell over a tree root. Noctowl dropped the purse into my arms.
"Scratch," I ordered. Noctowl scraped his talons over the other guy's face. He yelled in pain and then Noctowl began to peck him.
"You're crazy people!" he yelled. He picked up his friend off the ground and they ran away. I trudged through the bushes and carried the purse to the girl. Her hair had been in front of her face. She had tan skin and brown hair with blonde highlights.
"You okay?" I asked. I tried helping her to her feet, but she swung at me. Her nails scratched my skin. "Ow," I muttered. "I think you broke the skin..."
While I was nursing my cheek where I was humanly slashed, she got to her feet and grabbed the purse from me.
She was a very pretty girl with her hair out of her face with blue eyes and rosy cheeks. "I didn't need your help!" she snapped. "I could've got them eventually."
"Hey," I said, upset. "You should be kissing my feet right now. I saved you and your stupid purple purse. I think I at least deserve a 'thank you'."
"Why would you think that?" she demanded, now putting the purse around her shoulder and starting to walk away. "I could really care less about what anyone does for me. If you were here earlier, I wouldn't have gotten punched in the first place."
I glared at her. "They were about to kill you with a knife! Without me, you would be lying on the ground dead. I don't need your apology or your thanks. I'm outta here. I have more important things to do besides staying here with your snobby attitude."
I saw on her purse, her name was Monica.

I met the others at a restaurant. I told them all about Monica.
"Sounds like this Monica chick is a real witch," Willis said.
"I was thinking of another word for it, actually," I muttered, digging my fork around in my potatoes.
Lizzie and Willis laughed. I had brought a magazine on the way to the restaurant. I opened it up and saw an ad. "Hey, guys, look at this."
Lizzie and Willis came over to my side of the table and looked at the ad in my magazine. Governor McKreevie's Arcanine has escaped. Whoever finds it will get $100,000 in cash from the governor. That goes for each of the people who help find it.
"This was just written today," I muttered.
"We fuld helsh five et," Willis said. His mouth was filled with beef so I thought it was quite an accomplishment for him to make any sound at all.
"We should high five it?" Lizzie asked.
"No," Willis said, swallowing. "We should help find it."
"Great idea, but we have many more complications to take care of," I said.
Willis and Lizzie gave me a funny look. "Like what?" Lizzie demanded.
I knew I had to find that Monica chick and find out what was bugging her, make sure she didn't snap like she did today and maybe hurt herself ... or someone else.

We finished our meal and walked outside, enjoying the rays of the sun. I looked around at the others. They were giving me funny looks.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I demanded.
Lizzie sighed. "Woody -- you seem pretty jumpy today. Did something happen besides what Monica said?"
I don't know why, but for some reason I didn't wanna tell them about those two people trying to kill us, as well as rob Monica.
     "No, why?" I lied.
Lizzie shook her head. "Nothing ... forget I said anything."
I nodded and the 3 of us continued to walk through the town.

A heavy rain started to fall early as we explored the town. We saw the gym in which I would get my next badge and some pretty cool Pokemon. Lizzie caught a Geodude which she sent to Prof. Oak through her PC and I did the same when I caught a Magikarp. It was at a low level and the only move it could use was Splash, and it barely even moved the water.
"Hey, this day hasn't been a total waste," Willis muttered. "You both caught new Pokemon and... LOOK OUT!"
I stared at Willis. "Excuse me? Why sh--."
Willis pulled Lizzie and I to the ground and a car flipped over our head. I lifted my head up and my jaw dropped. Pikachu pulled me back onto the ground as a truck flew about 15 feet over our heads. The two vehicles crashed against a tree. The tree fell over. I rolled out of the way, clutching Pikachu in my arms. Lizzie was right next to me. The huge tree fell beside us and dust flew everywhere.
I was covering Pikachu so he wouldn't get hurt and had my arm around Lizzie. The smoke cleared and I looked up. The tree was about an inch from Lizzie's head. She was shaking. I looked up and gasped. The truck was totaled, and was caught on fire. The car wasn't too bad. The back window was cracked and there was a dent in the trunk. I looked on the other side of the tree and saw that Willis had also managed to avoid being hurt. His legs were shaking and he climbed to his feet.
Lizzie tried to say something but she couldn't get the words out.
"What she is trying to say is... WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!"
I didn't try to answer him. I walked over to where the two vehicles were. It looked like there was no driver in the truck somehow... I glanced at the car however and a man in a black suit was sitting in his seat. His head had went right into the steering wheel and he was bleeding from the mouth. His arm had bent the wrong way and his eyes were open -- staring at me. No life in them whatsoever.
I turned to the others. "I-- I think this dude is dead, guys."
Willis sighed. We dragged the guy out of his car and put him in a patch of grass. I dragged a towel over his face and shook my head. "I wonder who could have did this."
I didn't hafta wait long for my answer. Two motorcycles whizzed by us, shooting at us. Another truck sped by, also shooting at us and so did a van. I saw 3 cars after them, not shooting at us ... but trying to stop them. I ducked down and covered my head. Pikachu and Lizzie were behind me.
"Come on," I muttered. I got into the car that the dead guy had been in.
Willis gave me a strange, far away look. "Do we hafta take the corpse dude's car?" he said in a weary voice.
"The truck is totaled," I said. "And there is no key in there. Besides, someone will come and get that guy over there. We need this car to stop those people from killing innocent people."
I put on my seatbelt. "None of us can drive," Lizzie said, finally able to speak.
I shrugged. "The nearest police station is 10 miles away. Now come on!"
Pikachu and Lizzie climbed into the back-seat. Willis got into the passenger seat. We locked the doors and I turned off the radio. I needed full concentration and put my foot on the gas pedal. We sped backwards about 10 yards.
"Put it in drive, not reverse!" Willis snapped. He moved a bag off of the drive shift and gasped. Wet blood fell from it. Obviously from the dead guy.
"Ew," I muttered. I used the bag as a glove and pushed the stick forward, into drive. I put my foot back on the gas pedal and the jar jerked forward ... then sped off.
We gained speed every couple of seconds. 55 miles per hour, 57, 60, 65...
We eventually reached 90 miles per hour and sped out of the woods. I hit the highway and spotted the cars ahead of us.
"There they are!" I yelled. I realized my legs were hurting. I was extremely short... I realized it. "Pikachu, come up here."
Pikachu jumped into the front seat and then onto the floor. He pushed against the gas pedal. I sat on my knees and controlled the steering wheel, while Pikachu controlled the pedals.
We sped up. The trucks with the killers came into view. Someone turned around and spotted us ... and to my horror I saw that it was the two guys that tried to kill Monica that morning. The driver was Alicia, the Team Galaxy leader. One of the two killer's turned around and leaned out the window. A gun shot was aimed at our car. We all gasped. Lizzie held her breath. I moved the car about 3 feet over and the bullet missed the car by about an inch.
"Push on the gas harder, Pikachu!" I yelled. I turned to Lizzie. "Lizzie, I need Marill for a second."
Without argument, Lizzie opened Marill's pokeball. "Marill, take control of the wheel," I said.
Marill took over the steering wheel. I started out the window, my heart pounding. I gulped and hoped I wouldn't fall and get injured ... or worse.
"What are you doing?!" Willis demanded. He grabbed my leg. "WOODY, NO!"
I was now out the window and on top of the roof, which had a huge dent in it. I looked ahead. Two more gunshots were fired. The first one landed close to my foot and the second one hit the front of the car. "FASTER, PIKACHU!" I exclaimed.
The car went faster. I was guessing we were going at least 100 MPH.
I kneeled down on the car and stared ahead. Another shot was fired.
But this time it was head-on. I was hit in the ankle. I let out a gasp of pain and fell onto the top of the car.
Lizzie gasped from inside. Another shot was fired. It missed my head by inches...
I got back to one knee and took Noctowl's pokeball from my pocket. "Noctowl, Psybeam!" I ordered.
Noctowl emerged from the Pokeball and shot a purple beam of light at the truck in front of us, containing Team Galaxy. One guy was about to shoot again. The Psybeam twisted the car around and he dropped his gun. It clattered on the road. Noctowl swooped down and got it before the car ran over it. He carried it to me. I looked at it. Two bullets left. I had to make them good shots considering I have only used a gun about once in my life -- and that was a water gun.
I took aim at one of the Galaxy members who was aiming at me with his own gun. I let loose the trigger. I heard Lizzie scream inside the car. The bullet fired out and nailed the guy in the hand. He cried in pain and dropped his gun. It broke in 2 pieces. I had one bullet left. Without thinking, I aimed it at the tire of the truck. It popped the tire and the truck swerved.
I gasped. It already had one popped tire. The other tire went flat and the one I shot completely came off. The truck started flipping. The car sped at it and I held my breath.
The truck bounded towards us. I jumped up. I must have jumped 7 feet in the air. The truck flew right over the car and right under me. I wondered how I did it when I realized Noctowl was lifting me up.
Not able to support much more weight, he dropped me onto the roof of the car. My head thudded against it and I immediately tasted blood. I looked around. The truck had hurled itself right over the bridge. I had no time to worry. I was being shot at again. Bullets whizzed by my head, my arm, my leg, between my knees, under my arm, everywhere. I must've dodged about 15 bullets, each one coming about a foot of hitting me. I ducked down. I saw that Willis and Lizzie were both in shock. They turned to me. Suddenly, I was hit in the head with a hard force.
I realized I was hit with a Confusion attack. I was lifted into the air and dropped on my head. Right through the sun roof. I fell through the glass hole on top of the car and landed into the back-seat with a THUD! Lizzie screamed again.
"Stop the car!" she pleaded. "This is too much. Can't you see that we're dealing with murderers, here?! Let...me...out!"
She banged against the door, on the verge of tears.
     "Lizzie, be quiet," Willis hissed.
My face was covered in blood. My nose was black and bleeding. My lip was bleeding, my mouth was bleeding and I had cuts on my cheeks and forehead.
Noctowl flew in through the window. I climbed back into the front seat and Marill in the back. Taking control of the wheel, I saw that Lizzie might have been right. Two cars collided with each other and there was a huge explosion.
There was a 5 car pileup. Fire and smoke surrounded the highway. The steering wheel, I saw, was no longer moving. When the bullet hit it earlier, it must've cut something loose!
     "TURN THE CAR!" Lizzie yelled.
"The steering wheel is jammed," I muttered. I looked up and saw that we were heading right through the fire. I hit the wheel over and over. "PIKACHU, BRAKE!"
Pikachu took its weight off of the gas pedal and then pushed on the brakes. At the same time, the steering wheel was no longer jammed. I twisted it around. We spun right around the fire and I saw that there was only one car left. "Noctowl, foresight," I said. "Pikachu, get ready to translate and lean on the gas!"
Noctowl used Foresight and stared through the trunk of the car in front. I saw that one of the motorcycles had ran out of gas and the other one burst into flames. Both riders were lying on the road, groaning in pain.
Noctowl translated for Pikachu. Pikachu looked up at me. "Pika, Pika, Pikachu." (Noctowl saw bombs in the trunk!)
Before I could tell the others, a Weezing popped out of the window in front and used Smokescreen, then Sludge.
The car window was covered in a black substance and smoke surrounded the car. I could make out a red light in front of us and then the car burst into flames!
Lizzie shrieked. I coughed and tried to wave away the smoke. The roof was on fire and so was part of the hood of the car. I opened the door and stepped out through the flames, falling to the ground, coughing and bleeding. I saw Pikachu, Marill and Willis come out after me.
     "Where is Lizzie?" Willis asked.
I could see a dark figure, in the flames, still in the car.
"Oh no!" I cried. "Lapras, go!"
Lapras came out of my Lure ball and I pointed to the car. "Most powerful water gun!"
Lapras shot out a blast of cold water, that made the car move about 4 feet. The fire died down. Noctowl used Gust to get rid of the smoke. It cleared away, leaving some steam to come out of the burned car. I ran to it and got Lizzie. She was crying and shaking. I pulled her out and hoisted her into my arms. Her legs were shaking too badly to walk away on her own.
     "Are you--," Willis started.
"NO!" Lizzie screamed through tears. "I DON'T WANT TO GO WITH YOU GUYS! YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN NOW!"
I didn't know what to say. All I knew was that I had to stop that  person in the car from blowing up the whole town. Willis stayed back to comfort Lizzie. I took off after the car while Pikachu and Noctowl followed me.
I ran and then winced in pain. I looked down at my pants and saw blood stained them. I remember the bullet hitting the side of my ankle earlier. I didn't care though. I ran at full speed until the car came into view.
"Lapras, come out again!" I ordered.
Lapras stopped about 10 feet in front of me, out of the ball. "Waterfall," I ordered, panting. Lapras sent a rush of water going down the street. Eventually the car was swept up in the water. I was up to my knees in the water. Pikachu got on top of Noctowl who flew about 10 feet in the air.
"Okay, Pikachu, water conducts electricity, so use Thunderbolt!" I commanded. Pikachu shot a bolt of lightning at the ground. Sparks of electricity rushed at the car. I looked and saw that the man in the car was jumping up from the electricity. Sparks erupted from the car. "Now, Ice Beam," I told Lapras.
Lapras used Ice Beam and the flood of water turned into ice. I jumped onto Lapras. "Take Down." Lapras slid along the ice, going about 30 miles per hour. She rushed at the car on the ice and rammed right into it. I watched as the car flipped through the air and landed on the road. It flipped down the ice until there was none left and then hit a pole.
Lapras slid the rest of the way down and then I got off and returned her. I then limped over to the car. But there was no one inside. I looked up and saw the man running down into the next street, with 2 bags in his arms.
     "Oh no," I muttered.
But I didn't have to worry for long. Police sirens sounded and the man was stopped, when 4 cars surrounded him.
He was put into handcuffs and then seated into the car.
I then turned back to the car. A brown sack was moving. I looked at it and then neared closer. I peered into the sack and a red and black Pokemon jumped out of the car.
One of the officers turned. "Hey -- you found the governor's Arcanine! Well, I hafta to tell him. Come with me, I think he'd love to meet you."

Governor McKreevie was a nice man. He gave Lizzie, Willis and I each $100,000!!! I knew it was a lot of money, and I even got his auotograph... but something still didn't seem right. I knew Lizzie was still mad at Willis and I.

We took Lizzie to the hospital. She came out about 6 hours later and glared at us.
"We're really sorry, Lizzie," I said. "I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt."
     Lizzie nodded. "I know."
I smiled and limped over to her. I had a brace wrapped around my ankle and Willis had one around his wrist.
"So ... are you still with us? Still part of the gang?"
Lizzie laughed. "Yeah. I guess I was too hard on you guys. Are we cool?"
We nodded and the 3 of us slapped high-fives.
"But now... Woody, just should concentrate on your next badge. You ready?" Willis asked me.
I smiled and nodded. "Yeah. But nothing can top this day. Tomorrow I'm going to get that badge."
