The Rio de Janeiro Supercollider in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, South America was the largest Supercollider in the world. As Andrew Shawn Huxer and Mary Isabel Sara Tori-Yans monitored the particle streams of the Supercollider, Andrew noticed something wrong. “Mary, come have a look at this!” Andrew said, almost panicking. “What’s wrong Andy?” responded Mary as she circled around to see what Andrew was looking at. “I thought I saw a flux in the particle stream, but it seems to be fine now.” “We should probably double check it, just to be sure.” “Yeah, go ahead and do that.” “Uh oh,” said Mary as she reviewed the monitor. “What’s wrong?” asked Andrew in a near panic. “We have a cataclysmic particle build up. It’s irreversible! We have to shut down the particle stream now!” Andrew shut down the particle stream. “Is it reversing?” “No! It’s amounting to a massive distortion! Who knows what’s going to happen next?” Andrew knew exactly what to do in this situation. Call the global police captain, officer Jean Elise Notre-Noel Yosolovic. “Officer Jean,” started Andrew, “We have an irreversible particle build up! We need to issue a global catastrophe alert of level red, now!” “How long do we have?” asked Jean. “Ten minutes before the Supercollider goes critical! In about six hours, the whole world will be covered!” “Covered?” “This explosion will practically destroy any life it comes in contact with! You need to evacuate as many as you can to fall out shelters! It should be safe to resurface after about seventy two hours!” “Understood!” “And tell you’re sister, Jessica October Yosolovic, to prepare the global relief department for massive triage! She is, after all, the head doctor!” “Thank you. And good luck!” “To you to Officer.” Andrew hung up the phone. “Mary, there’s nothing else we can do now.” “What about my kids?” “You’re kids will be fine! My wife will take them to the fall out shelter, and take care of them, but we need to get to a fall out shelter, unless you want your kids to loose their mother too.” “Even if we get to a fall out shelter within the next seven minutes, the chances of us surviving are minimal!” “It’s still higher then if we stay here!” Mary nodded, and then followed Andrew to the nearest fall out shelter. They never made it. As time ran out, the Supercollider’s atomically altered particles gave way to the stress of the trans-matter reaction. Nobody in Brazil survived. But deep underneath Tokyo, the largest city in the world, Dana Elaine Lisa Isabella Ashley, Andrew’s wife, hid in a fall out shelter from the most catastrophic disaster the world had ever seen. Steven Alex Minnow, Dana’s closest friend, helped Dana protect five children, a boy of her own, and four girls that belonged to her close friend, and husband’s co-worker, Mary. Above her, the explosion had only began. Many domesticated animals were abandoned on the surface, as well as every wild animal, and a large percent of humans. Most who remained on the surface died instantly, while others died after the genetic mutations began to occur. Not only were animals affected, but many plants began to change, though most remained unaffected. This cloud of death did not only cause pain, but also cause evolution of epic proportions. Almost every animal that survived, as well as a large group of plant life, were biochemically changed into entirely new creatures all together. This trans- matter reaction also caused life to exist in where no life had ever existed. Many spheres used in power plants now began to live, while gasses began to form together as new life, and rocks, toys and even electricity itself began to live. Even the fossils of long extinct animals, which had hidden traces of prehistoric DNA, underwent massive changes, as they became fossils of animals that never existed. Many humans underwent these changes also, some gaining extraordinary physical strength, some gaining telepathic and telekinetic abilities, and others gaining other powers. Life also mutated to form new animals that had never existed, such as massive Behemoths that could clear the sky of rain clouds, and Leviathans that could do the complete opposite. Massive serpents appeared that had the ability to fly, and some even with the ability to not only live, but inhabit the ozone layer. What could only be described as dragons evolved from the unique situation. All of these new life forms shared several commonalities, such as the ability to engage in battle with each other, the ability to understand each other, a higher intelligence, and an atomic property that easily allowed for their conversion between matter and an energy that can be described as red light. As the human race began to rebuild, they noticed that these animals did not fear humans, and as a more evolved species, humans decided not to give them a reason to. It didn’t take long for humans to begin domesticating these animals, and soon, a Japanese inventor know as Satoshi Tajiri, coincidentally named the same as a video game designer from hundreds of years earlier, developed a sphere the size of a baseball that could contain these animals for indefinite periods of time, storing them as red light. The sphere had a button on it which allowed it to be condensed into the size of a golf ball. One usually kept these balls in their pockets, giving the balls the name “Pocket Balls,” which later became “Pokeballs,” poke meaning pocket. The animals that you could catch in these pocket balls became known as pocket monsters, or “Pokemon” for short. Still, more time passed, and catching Pokemon in Pokeballs became common practice, and a law was passed allowing anyone aged 10 or older to train these Pokemon and battle with them. Pokemon battles were legal, because they did not classify as cockfights, which were a fight to the death. As some used Pokemon for good, others used them for evil, and society had rebuilt itself, but this time including small animals known as Pokemon. Unfortunately, as time went on, everyone forgot about the pre-Pokemon world their ancestors grew up in. The only non-Pokemon animal left on the Earth, other then very small bugs, was humans. But life was good, for both Pokemon and humans. The world as a whole had gained unity from the disaster that could have eliminated all life on Earth. Blissfully unaware of their ancestor’s plights, the descendents of Andrew Shawn Huxer and Mary Isabel Sara Tori-Yans sat together under an old, tall tree. As Andrew’s descendent put his arm around Mary’s descendent, Mary’s descendent smiled. “Ash, how long are we going to keep hiding this?” said Mary’s descendent. “I don’t know Misty, until I feel comfortable telling my mom,” responded Andrew’s descendent, Ash. Ash leaned over and kissed Misty, Mary’s’ descendent, passionately on the lips. “I love you to Ash,” said Misty in response. Ash simply laughed as the couple watched the sun set over the horizon, unaware that Pokemon were not always there, unaware that their ancestors were best friends, and especially unaware that without their ancestors, the forgotten heroes that were known as Andrew Shawn Huxer and Mary Isabel Sara Tori-Yans, there would be no civilization, no Pokemon trainers, and no humans. Ash Ketchum and Misty Waterflower, the descendents of the two saviours of the human race, drifted lazily to sleep while watching the sun set over a horizon that might not have even been there if their ancestors did not do everything in there power to save the world. And though Andrew Shawn Huxer and Mary Isabel Sara Tori-Yans may be long forgotten, there effort was not in vein, as they insured the survival of humanity, and the ability to start society on the right foot. THE END Dear Reader: Though this story has very little to do with what we know to be the Pokemon world, I thought it was about time to specify a little bit about the history of Pokemon. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing, and I would love to hear your opinions on my story. For those of you who don’t understand what a Supercollider is, I encourage you to research it, and learn as much as you can. Remember, knowledge is the key to life, and creativity is what allows you to turn that key. Keep reading, keep dreaming, and keep living. -Pokemania PS: Try to find out the significance of the names of the characters (other then Ash Ketchum and Misty Waterflower)
