Chapter 2: Mewtwo's Warning On May first, Ash Ketchum boarded the S.S. Aquatica. Apparently, there were less then 100 people competing in this tournament. 'This is only from Kanto' Ash reminded himself as he boarded the ship. Ash got all his stuff in his stateroom, and once Ash had finished unpacking, the ships muster dill started. The muster drill was 30 minutes of standing outside in the blazing sunshine. After the muster drill, Ash returned to his stateroom, got into his bathing suit, and went to the top deck to go swimming. When Ash got to the pool, the ship was already out of sight from land. As Ash jumped into the pool, the icy cold water froze every one of his limbs. Ash dived under the water to try to get a feel of the water, and as he did, the salt water entered his eyes and stung! Ash decided to get out of the pool and do a little sunbathing. As Ash was lying in the sun, he caught a glimpse of what he thought was Misty. Shocked, Ash went downstairs, now dried, to look at the ship route. It appeared as though the ship had already visited Hoenn and Johto, and now was headed to its final destination. "Ding Dong" the P.A. system announced. "Addention all passengers," a man came on the P.A. system with a very heavy accent. "Dis is your cap-den speaking. Anyboody wishing to compete in de tour-no-men should report to de starlight theatre on deck five in 20 minutes." In the Starlight Theatre, Ash sat in the front row. He had gotten there early to sample a root beer float. The theatre was full. 'If this is everyone who's competing,' Ash thought, 'there are probably only about 100 people competing in the tournament.' Suddenly the curtain opened. Mewtwo came out on stage. "Attention Passengers," Mewtwo announced. "Tomorrow, we will arrive at the tournament island. A package is being placed in every one of your rooms containing a number and variety of pokeballs, some rations, and about $500.00 of the island currency. Conserve your money! To get more, you must work, gamble, or defeat one of the eight island gym leaders. If an island gym leader defeats you, you will forfeit half your money to them, and will be able to try again. If at anytime you are in a life-threatening situation, you will be transported to the nearest pokemon centre by one of the thousands of psychic pokemon located on the island for your protection. This will qualify for your disqualification. A few words of advice: Teams have more of a chance of getting to the finish then loners, use your money, but use it wisely, and DO NOT HARM ANOTHER HUMAN BEING! Breaking any laws that apply in civilized society will be punishable by the extent of the Kanto criminal code! Finally, there are three things you must follow to be successful, your heart, your gut, and your mind. The trick is which do you follow and when. Good luck trainers, and get a good night sleep. All activities will be close by 9:00 tonight to prevent any trainer from getting off the ship late." The curtain drew, and as Ash turned to leave the theatre, he could have sworn he saw Misty again.
