A Fighters Journey Professor Alder Other Trainer Chapter One “Whhhhaaaattt?!?!!?!” shouted both Jei and May at the same time, “You want BOTH of us to be your field assistants?” May questioned her father with both shock and joy. “What about Brandon isn’t he your field assistant?” asked a curious Jei as he pondered all the Fighting Pokemon he could capture and train. “Yes, but you see I need two more field assistants, at this point Brandon’s progress in capturing wild pokemon has dwindled to the point of near extinction, to busy battling I suppose.” Professor Birch smiles weakly at them both as he scratches the back of his head, he coughs be fore going on. “You both will be given 5 Pokeballs and a Pokedex, you both should accompany each other, for a group is better then heading out solo like Brandon did.” He hands both May and Jei the items he mentioned earlier, “Jei, don’t forget any of your stuff and May make sure you get the tent out of the basement. I’m sure you’ll need the camping supplies, and I’m sure Jei would be glad to carry them.” He looks at Jei and then back to may, “Well get going you two, you have a long journey ahead of you!” A few hours after Jei and May got everything together, said goodbye to everyone in Littleroot town and began their journey, they both realized how much freedom they had just gained from May’s father Professor Birch, “You know May, we’re freer then Water now. We can do whatever we want from this day forward.” He smiles as he looks up into the bright blue sky; he then notices a rustling in the bushes ahead. “What’s that? Could it be a pokemon?” as soon as Jei finished his sentence a wild Wurmple popped out chewing on a leaf, not noticing both the new Trainers. “Jei, it’s a Wurmple. I’m going to try and catch it, okay?” she smiles as she calls out her Mudkip and a battle ensures. “Alright Mudkip tackle that weak Wurmple!” may shouted out a quick command once her Mudkip came out of her pokeball, the Wurmple was hit strongly and dropped it’s leaf with a little cry as it began to shoot string out at the Mudkip. “Oh no! Look out Mudkip, alright, you may have been slowed down but tackle it again!” before May’s Mudkip could tackle the Wurmple it let out a Poison Sting, damaging Mudkip but not yet poisoning it. May cringed a bit and watched as her Mudkip tackled the Wurmple, she threw out her pokeball hoping for a catch, but she passed out too quickly to know if it was caught. “Uhhhgg…where am I?” May woke up groggily as she winced in pain from her left ankle, “AH!” she let out a sharp yell as she saw her swollen ankle. It was dark out, but she could see easily from the glow of the fire outside the tent. She slowly crawled from her sleeping bag and unzipped the tent as she looked out side seeing Jei training with his Machop in the eerie light of the campfire, she smiled just watching as he Mudkip came up and nudged her cheek, “Muud?” it said with a worried look, “No, I’ll be fine…did we capture that Wurmple?” the Mudkip smiled with many quick nods as it ran away and came back with a pokeball, laying it in front of May. She hadn’t noticed, but Jei had come up to the tent and poked her in the head, “Hey sleepy head! You gave me and your Mudkip a fright when you passed out. I think that Wurmple’s poison sting might have caught yea.” May let out a quick squeal as she was poked and frightened by Jei, she just looked up at him and smiled, “Maybe, maybe not. We don’t know for sure! How long was I out for?” she looked at the ground a little depressed at passing out. “Only for a few hours. Enough to make it dark and call for a Fire. I’d say we’re close to Petalburg though, so no worries.” He smiled at her and just petted her head sitting down. “Everything will be fine in the morning, get some sleep eh?” May smiled as she took her friends hand off her head and just held it for awhile as she nodded an affirmative yes, “Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow.” The next morning, the fire put out, and the camping equipment put away Jei and may walked a little longer towards Petalburg and Brendan’s Dad’s Gym. They chit-chatted like they usually did and Jei would stop now and then to check May’s wound. “Its fine Jei, you don’t have to check it every two minutes! SHESH!” She secretly smiled on the inside each time he did, glad that he cared for he like he did. Shortly after the chit chat and wound checking, May and Jei entered Petalburg City. They both headed straight to Brendan’s dad’s gym, but upon coming towards it, it exploded, luckily they we’re far enough away to only feel the burst of heat, “Oh my god! May! IT EXPLODED!” they both ran towards it like docile idiots, but being the kind people they are they knew someone might need there help. “HEY! Is anyone in here? Does anyone need some help?” Jei began to immediately shout as they got to the exploded Gym, he sent out his Machop to begin clearing rubble away as they saw a man being lifted up from the rubble by a pokemon, the Noctowl gently put the Leader of the gym on the ground as Sirens can be heard heading on over. Both Jei and May rush on over to the unconscious Gym Leader and begin to help him away from the building, the Noctowl helping as much as he can, however, he seems to be pretty weak. “Hey! You two, bring him over here! Hurry!” a Paramedic shouts to them as he lays down a stretcher and they all get back into the ambulance, rushing off to the nearest Medical Facility. The Gym Leader Norman begins to slowly awake, with a light cough he sees Jei, May, and a few nurses hovering around him, “Where…am I?” he says a little dazed and confused. “Your at in the Petalburg Hospital, Norman, the Gym Exploded. The police are currently investigating what happened.” These words struck hard, and it could easily be seen in Norman’s facial expressions of agony and sadness. “And, the Trainers?” he said softly, “Two of them made it out, however…a young boy was crushed under a wall. The funeral is being held in a week from tomorrow.” Guilt could easily be detected on Norman’s face as he looks at Jei and May, “You…but…he said you…May, when did you get here?” Jei looked at Norman as may answered, “Me and Jei helped you out of the rubble and into the ambulance, we saw the explosion…Brendan was notified and should be here within a week.” She looked at Norman with pity as they were ushered out of the room and he quietly fell in to a disturbed sleep. “Jei…I hope Norman will be okay…Jei? Are you listening?” she looked at Jei, who at the time had a serious look on his face… “You know what…I think we have to split up for a while May…I have…obligations to someone from long ago…I’ll be gone for a few months…if you wish you can wait for me in Rustboro City…” with that he began to walk away, but may stopped him, “Jei! What are you talking about! Stop acting li” he knocked her off him as he left the building and began to run off somewhere, laying on the ground may got up with tears in her eyes. “You big jerk, I’ll see you in Rustboro…but you won’t be glad to see me!” --Well there you have it, Chapter One, where Chapter One leaves off I’ll begin my other story called Jei Alder: Unending Battle, you should read both or you will begin to get lost in other chapters of This series.
