(Ash's POV)

June 20, 3987
Dear Journal,
I can feel my mind slipping. I'm afraid I'll go crazy soon. I have been getting headaches a lot lately, plus I've been having strange nightmares. I keep dreaming that a familiar, yet strange, Pokémon is turning me into one of his own, but something goes horribly wrong. After I scream out for help, I see a nearby trainer see us and try to come rescue me. The trainer attacks with a Pokémon, and the one altering me is interrupted, and then my dream fast-forwards, to the planet's destruction. I always wake up in a cold sweat, and my friends would awake and ask if anything was wrong. I would tell them that there wasn't anything wrong, but then I couldn't get back to sleep from fear. Just the other day, my battling prowess was affected by my lack of sleep. I was losing terribly because I could not concentrate, and just as my Pokémon was about to faint, I fell over from exhaustion and passed out. When I awoke, I was in a hospital; apparently I had been out for a couple of days. Now we are back on the road, heading for Blackthorn City, and I fear my nightmares are an omen…

_____

It was another normal day today, well, at least what was normal for the past couple of weeks. I would cover up my fear and sleeplessness with my normal cheerful attitude.

During the day, I caught a Pidgey. I don't know why I did, I just did. Then I acted like it was just as powerful as Pikachu. My friends looked at me like I was crazy, I fear that they are right.

Once it was time to sleep, I went into my sleeping bag, mumbling something that even I didn't understand. I tried to stay awake, but I eventually fell asleep.

_____

I was having the nightmare again. Right now I could see the Earth shattering, then disintegrating. The dream then faded away, but I found I couldn't wake up. I think my mind has finally gone insane. Although I was probably in a coma, I could still hear people talking somewhere. I then heard a voice say inside my head, {There is one thing that I can do.}

It's then that I decided I should wake up, although it would take a few minutes.

_____

(Misty's POV)

I could see him in the bed, strapped to it by the leather restraints. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes.

"How could this have happened?" Delia, who had arrived yesterday, screamed.

"From what the monitors say, he has been hit by a high-powered psychic attack," one of them explained.

'A high-powered psychic attack… When was he hit by a…' I thought, then a memory, locked away at the back of my mind unlocked…

"So, you can't do anything?" Delia asked, starting to sniffle.

"I'm afraid so. We will have to institutionalize him," they said sadly.

{There is one thing that I can do.}

A seven-foot cat-like Pokémon hovered in the air, right in front of the window, watching as Ash's mental patterns slowly deteriorated. Although Delia had never seen this Pokémon before, she remained calm, considering this newcomer said he could help.

{This is my fault, if I had not been so corrupt back then, then this would not have happened,} he explained.

"But why has it only affected him now?" I asked.

{Because of the Tears,} he replied.

"What tears?" asked Delia, confused.

{The Pokémon Tears. When he ran in front of the battle between Mew, and myself he was turned to stone, imprisoning his soul in that shell. His act moved the Pokémon so much, they began crying, and then, with the final tears of his Pikachu, he was given life again. Although the Tears are powerful, they could only hold off the inevitable for so long.}

Then Ash began to stir, and we all rushed inside, Mewtwo just teleported into his room. He began to twitch, trying to get free.

Then, when his eyes settled on the image of Mewtwo, he freaked out, yelling for him to get away.

This perturbed Mewtwo, but he just walked over to Ash, and touched his forehead. In an instant, they were gone.

_____

(Mewtwo's POV)

I had to take him to a secluded area to make sure no one would know what I have to do to save him, although I had to pick one quickly so I did not have the chance to scan for people.

He was dazed by the sudden teleportation, so this was my chance, sensing the turmoil in his mind, I reached out with my psychic powers to alter his DNA.

He began screaming, trying to make me stop, but I had to do this to help.

Suddenly, I was attacked by a Bite attack to my leg, slipping up my powers, altering him too much.

"Stop that, whatever you are!" screamed the trainer of the Pokémon that attacked me.

{No, you fool! You have just destroyed my only chance of saving him!} I screamed out with my mind.

"Huh?" asked the fool.

Then Ash began to glow, first changing into a Mewtwo, exactly like me, then two spiked wings burst out of his back, spikes burst out along his spine, he grew sharp ferocious teeth, and his balled hands turned into human hands with sharp claws, finally, he turned red and hairless, the exact image of the fabled Draco in its infant stage.

He screamed out with his mind and mouth, creating a stereo effect. He then rose into the air, and as he kept screaming, I felt his mind finally phase out, and immense power seeped out of his mind, creating a ball of pure energy that hurtled towards the ground.

I could feel what came next, and although I wish I could save the planet, I was not strong enough, and there was no time, the destruction of the earth was imminent. I was forced to quickly teleport myself into the void known as space. Then, after I was there, I created a psychic shield with which to produce oxygen for me. Two more flashes notified me of the arrival of Mew and Celebi.

{Can't you do anything about this, Celebi?} I asked, desperation clear in my mind.

{I'm afraid not, he is even more powerful than I,} she explained sadly.

Suddenly, the earth, which was splitting apart, exploded in an intense fireball, right before the psychic energy vaporized it into nothing. After the glow faded, I could see a speck next to where I was when Earth was still intact. It must have been Ash, considering he was the only one who could have survived that.

All three of us flew over to him as he rolled into a ball, and started weeping, obviously about what he had done for the brief instant he had gone insane.

We tried to console him, but he wouldn't listen, he did not like what he had done, none of us did, but it hit him the hardest since it was his doing.

_____

Although I was created a Pokémon, I could always feel the nagging that there was a planet with only Pokémon inhabiting it, where there were thousands of species, and now that there were no minds here for me to feel, I could sense it more accurately.

{It is time we went home,} I spoke, creating a psychic shield around Ash to bring him to the other world.

{Yes, it is time, and although we may not be able to bring this life back, Ash, we can always start a new one,} explained Mew, surprisingly using her mind to speak.

We all then headed for the planet, Terra, or what the human scientists called, planet P.

_____

As Ash has found out, although you may sometimes see into the future, you see only one path, the one you're most likely to follow, and unfortunately for him, he happened to choose that path, through his struggle to stop Mewtwo, alerting a nearby trainer to their presence. It is not always wise to follow your subconscious' thoughts of following that path, but to think reasonably before acting.
