Chapter 1

"Phobias, Redirect." I order.

My Kadabra thrusts it’s clawed hands forward, forcing the star of fire back to its creator.

"Charmeleon, dodge." My opponent orders.

The red fire lizard dove to the side; barely avoiding it’s own destructive power.

"Phobias, Mental Fire." I calmly command my Kadabra.

Phobias’ eyes flash dangerously, his arms still extended forward. Charmeleon doubles over in agony, clutching its head. After a slow and painful 10 seconds, Charmeleon closes its eyes, no longer able to battle.

"Phobias, enough." I order.

Phobias lowers its arms.

"What the hell was that." My opponent demands, rushing over and grabbing me by the collar of my shirt.

I smile back at him, "That was Mental Fire…" I explain, " an attack that tricks the mind of an opponent into thinking that it’s burning and in severe pain. The mind makes this imaginary pain into reality, draining the enemy of its energy."

I continue, "Now I believe you owe me 50 bucks." I demand with an outstretched arm.

My opponent grumbles as he releases me and digs into his back pocket for the due amount.

He slaps two 20’s and a 10 in my hand.

"Nice doing business with you."

"Shut up." He retorts, walking away.

"You really know how to piss them off, huh Ben." Phobias states.

I shrug in return

<Final call for all departing for Pallet City! > A voice announces over the loud speakers.

"That’s us." I state to Phobias.

"Let’s go then." He replies.

I take a deep breath. Man I’m I going to miss New Saffron; my home. The graffiti covered buildings, everything’s free (well, maybe not free), the streets are infested with the drunk and homeless. Who am I kidding? I hate this murderous hellhole more than female pop bands.

We board the heavily graffiti car. The insides no better than the outside. Seats are ripped to shreds, there’s a huge hole in the floor of the car. Syringes litter the ground. Drunks blanket the floor.

The usual.

I take a seat on the floor.

After a few minutes, we come to the last stop before Pallet City; Hope City. Rich and important looking people of all ages board the train car. None of them seemed to be shy about expressing their opinion of the state the train was in.

"Excuse me, but would you mind if I sat down." An innocent voice asks.

I look up. The voice belonged to a female. She has dirty blonde hair, and deep blue eyes. She has a small nose, and thin lips.

She closes her eyes and smiles. "Please!" she begs.

I move over a little. "Sure."

"Thanks."

I look over at Phobias, who had been staring at me accusingly.

"What?" I demanded.

Phobias turns his head and lightly replies, "Nothing, Nothing."

I shrug in return.

Half an Hour later

"So, Why are you heading to Pallet City?" Rachel, the girl that sat next to me, asks.

I glance over at her slightly annoyed. " I needed to get away. Get a change of scenery." I reply.

"That still doesn’t answer why you’re heading to Pallet City." Rachel pesters on.

I sigh. "I was hoping Professor Missino would start me towards my goal. To become the strongest psychic pokemon trainer." I reply.

"Oh."

Now it was my turn to pester. "Why are you heading to Pallet City?" I ask.

"Same as you." she replies, "Except with water pokemon."

"Oh."

I know it's short, but this is just the first part.
