Chapter 3

The Next Morning

I wake up to the unfamiliar sounds of the wild. No cursing. No traffic. No Gun shots. Just the sounds of nature. I glance over at Rachel. She’s sprawled out on the ground, breathing pretty heavily.

Anyway, I pack up my stuff and continue through the woods, Phobias floating behind me.

<Why’d you leave? > Phobias questions. I ignore him and continue my trek.

"Hey kid." A voice calls out, "I challenge you to a battle."

"For what money or TMs?" I ask.

"Money." He responds. "How about 25 bucks."

"Deal." I return.

A sinister smile forms on his face as he calls out his first pokemon, "Go Sneasel."

"Phobias, you’re up." I order.

Phobias nods as he takes a battle stance.

"Sneasel, Faint Attack." The boy orders. Sneasel’s body fades from view.

"Fly." I calmly order.

Phobias Teleports himself above the battleground.

"Foresight." I order.

Phobias extends his arms out, his hands glowing a faint red. The outline of a Sneasel takes form.

"Extreme Speed." I command.

Phobias launches himself earthward, surpassing the speed of light. A sickening crack responds to the completed attack. The Sneasel lay on the ground motionless.

"Is… he dead." The boy asks.

I walk over and feel the dark Pokemon’s pulse. "No. He’s still alive." I answer. "Now I think you owe me 25 bucks."

The boy walks over and hands me a 20 and a 5. "Thanks for the battle." He replies.

"Sure kid." I return.

Meanwhile…

Two dark figures rest quietly in a tree, watching a battle between a Sneasel and Kadabra. The Kadabra’s trainer orders it to use an Extreme Speed attack to finish the battle, and it does just that.

"This boy could be of great use to us." One of the figures state.

"He IS pretty powerful. Maybe would should pay him a visit." The other returns

"Maybe." A third figure decides, joining the other two. His eyes glow a satanic Red, and although it wasn’t visible, a smile was definitely plastered on to his face.

Chapter 3

Phobias and I continue our trek to Viridian City, the capital of the Kanto Continent. Plus there is a gym there.

(Just so you now: this is about 100 years after Ash, Misty, and Brock)

<Why’d you leave her? > Phobias asks.

I shrug in return, "She’d just slow me down."

<I thought she’d be the one to drag you out. >

"Drag me out of what?" I question.

<Boy am I hungry. > Phobias changes the subject, <It IS lunch time. >

"Fine," I return. "Don’t answer me."

I release Java, my Drowzee, and prepare lunch; fried Pidgey.

About half-way through the meal, Java and Phobias stiffen.

I look at them oddly, "What’s up?"

<SomeTHING powerful is approaching. Something real powerful. > Java states.

"This true Phobias?" I ask.

Phobias nods, His eyes wide with fear.

‘It has to be pretty strong to freak Phobias and Java both out’ I think to my self.

"What is IT Phobias?" I ask.

Phobias closes his eyes to concentrate.

<I pity you. > A voice responds in Phobias and Java’s minds, <A mere slave to some human. Have you no dignity. >

<What are you? > Phobias asks, <I’ve never sensed such power coming from a single life form. >

<It doesn’t matter who or what I am, but that I’m coming for you and your trainer. >

<What do you want with us? > Java asks.

<You’re power, your blood… Your life. > It answers.

<You’ll have to defeat us first., and I would warn you were no push overs. > Java replies.

<Ready or not. > The voice returns.

Three odd creatures teleport into our clearing, their bright red eyes sending shivers down my spine.

"What the hell?" I question.

"There is no escape now." One of them yells.

"You are a very foolish human to question the superior life forms such as ourselves. You’re blood will be most satisfying to my thirst." The 2nd states.

<Now you all die. > The last one commands.

All three of them extend a finger towards me. On that finger, a silver spark takes form.

"Phobias, Teleport us to Viridian City. Now. > I order.

<I can’t. > Phobias replies, <They’ve set up a barrier preventing us from leaving. >

"Crap." I return, "We’ll just have to fight them."

The third on smiles. <Your chances of survival are slim. > He states, <No one lives after an encounter with a Valmarian Spirit. >

"Goodbye." The first on decides, his spark flies forward, but is neutralized by a similar ball of psychic energy.

"Phobias?" I ask.

He shakes his head.

"Java?" I question.

Java also shakes his head no.

<Valmarian Hell Spawn. > A new voice states, <I have finally found you. >

The new creature forms another ball of psychic energy, launching it at the same Valmarian Spirit. He follows up the attack with a dynamic punch.

The other 2 Valmarian spirits launch their attacks at the new creature. With the flick of his wrists, both attacks were destroyed. The new creature turns around and receives many powerful punches and kicks from the two remaining Valmarian Spirits. He falls to the ground winded.

The remaining two Valmarian Spirits raise their hands, and launch a powerful dark attack upon the new creature.

"Phobias, Brain Freeze." I order, "Java, Mind Explosion." I command.

Phobias and Java perform their attacks, severely weakening the two Valmarian creatures. I take an empty pokeball and toss it at the almost dead creature on the ground.

"Let’s get out of here."

<So, you saved me human? > The creature asks.

"You also saved me." I return.

We are currently sitting in a critical condition room.

<I was just hunting down those villainous creatures. >

"Yeah, umm, what were those things anyway." I ask.

<They are called Valmarian Spirits, the forever servants of Lord Valmar. King of the Schima world. I am a Granas Mute. I was sent to destroy them. That is my purpose in life. > It answers. <It seems they have taken a liking to you, because of your power. They see you as a threat if you learn how to use your powers. >

"Ah… what powers." I question.

< I have said too much. I must leave now. > The Granas Mute decides. In an instant, he’s gone.

"Kay." I answer confused.

Java floats into the room, his face covered in melted marshmallows, his arms crossed.

<Damn Charmanders. > He fumes, <can’t even eat a Pop tart without being attacked. >

‘It never ends does it.’ I think to myself, ‘Why can’t I be normal. Why can’t they be normal.’

<Being normal is no fun. > Phobias interjects into my mind.

"DAMMIT PHOBIAS! What have I told you about reading my mind!"

Phobias shrugs and hovers away, stopping only to laugh at a marshmallow covered Drowzee.

Later: In front of the Viridian City Gym

I inhale deeply. This will be my first gym battle. The battle for the Apocalypse Badge. The gym is in the shape of a castle from the medieval times. The black stone structure shorter then the buildings surrounding it.
