The Battle of Mt. Moon
By RCF v2.0
Part Two

The jeep slowly creeped up the windy path. Mount Moon was a dangerous place to drive at night, four wheel drive military jeep or not. They were almost to Moon Base, a large structure built underneath the huge mountain. It was a true wonder to behold, as the immense size of the underground structure was zig-zagged and oddly shaped as to contort to the surrounding caves. This was not to disturb the pokemon. Namely the population of Clefairy inhabiting the mountain. The construction job was expensive. They had a group of diglet dig out the main "holes" ands then filled in the sides with solid concrete more than six feet thick. It was truly a marvel of construction. The base protected blueprints for a few prototype weapons, and the names and locations of several valuable people. Including Lance, Gen. Surge, and Koga.

The two jeeps pulled up to a large rock face on the southern side of the mountain. The rock face split open, revealing a large hanger. The jeeps drove in and parked on the far side. Ash got out and walked over to the other jeep. "That was a close one eh Tom?" he said. The other driver got out. "Yeah, did you get a look at him?" he asked. "No but he was definitly from Hoenn. He had your head in his sights too." Ash added. The passenger got out of the jeep. "C'mon lets get Mr. Bill upstairs."

Once upstairs, they were greeted by General Vitale. "Glad to see you made it here in one peice." he said. "Us too sir, we had a real close call back there." Ash replied. "Sir, we have no time to talk!" Bill exclaimed. "Before these young lads rescued me I overheard the guards talking. They're attacking tonight!" "Don't worry Bill," the General said chuckling "there ain't no bomb that can get through these walls." "No, you don't understand! They got On" but whatever they had was about to become very evident it seemed, as a distant rumbling could now be heard. Vitale took out his radio. "Johnson, status report" he said through it. "S..Sir? Your gonna want to see this. Its as if the ground itself is rearing up for attack." came out of the radio. What Johnson had said was more or less the truth. Tom led Bill to a safer section of the base, while Ash and Vitale went to get a look for themselves.

Onix. The enemy had Onix. About a hundred of them all charging at the base. "Shit, we gotta get out of here." Ash said. "Those things will eat the hell out these walls no matter how thick." "Ash, I don't think its gonna be that easy." the General replied. "Why do you say that?" Ash asked. "Cause they're coming from every direction." The General said. "Why didn't you see them on the way here?" "I don't know sir. Mabye they were traveling underground." Ash said. Vitale replied " well lets go back inside. Ash headed down to the safe-house in the very center of the building. It was made of reinforced titanium. Even the Oniz were going to have a hard time getting in there.

Vitale hurried to his office and got on the intercom. "Code red, all personnel report to the safe-house immediatly. This is not a drill. Repeat. This is not a drill." Everyone in the base immediately dropped what they were doing and ran toward the safe-house. The rumbling was getting closer now, this time accompanied with roars.

The wave of Onix stopped a couple hundred feet from the mountain. A large tank carrying a radio pulled up. It started transmitting towards the base.

Ash ran down the stairs on his way to the safe house. He passed the communications console. It was beeping. He stopped. He walked over to it. "Incoming transmission" beeped the console. Ash pressed the play button. A man came up on screen. "Why hello, Ash." said he. "Who the hell are you?" Ash replied. "You may call me William. I have a proposition for you." the man stated. "And what would that be?" Ash asked, starting to get angry. The mans hoenn uniform was clearly visible on the screen. "Give me the protected data, or we'll demolish your mountain and all who are in it." the man said. "But, you can't!" Ash said back, exasperated. "The Clefairy have nowhere else to go! They could all die!" "Then you better give me the data." the man said, with a grin, and the transmission cut off. Ash's radio came on. "Ash where are you?" Vitale's voice came through. "Vitale, I just recieved a transmission from the enemy. They want us to hand over the protected data, or they will destroy the entire mountain!" Ash said. "Whatever you do, don't give it to them. We'll be fine. If worst comes to worst we have a shelf of Abras that can teleport us out of here." Vitale said. "Remind me to thank Sabrina later." replied Ash with a small grin. "Ash, you need to take the data and get out of there. Use the Abra in my office. The password is "biscut"." he said. "The blast door has already closed here. Theres no way in or out, you need to leave." "Got it" Ash said, and his radio cut off.

Ash raced back upstairs to the data room. He downloaded it to a disk and destroyed the console. He pocketed the disk and hurried over to Vitale's office. He found Abra's pokeball and called it out. "Take me to Cerulean" He said. There was a flash of purple light, and the office was empty.
