“RILEY!!! RILEYRILEYRILEYRILEY…” My brother—whom was ten—was jumping eagerly on my bed. I rolled over and groaned into my pillow, my dark chestnut brown hair tied into a messy ponytail to keep it out of my face while I slept. My brother, being the clumsy nut he is, ending up kneeing me out of my blissful sleep. Yowling I rolled over, struggling to push him off. I was thirteen, only turning thirteen yesterday. Today was my brother’s birthday, and he was getting his Pokemon with me. “Jakob!! Don’t you EVER wake me up like that again! If you do, you’ll find yourself wishing you had never left the house.” I said loudly, rubbing the sleep from my steel blue eyes as I sat up in bed. My room—which I shared with the brat no doubt—was a mess of Pokemon stuffed animals, posters, clothes and bags. I grumbled to myself as I struggled to get out of bed, my dad coming in to grab Jakob in a huge bear hug. “How are my champions today?” “The brat is fine; I'm hurt.” I sighed, tossing my blankets away and getting up. I stretched and my dad smiled at me, and I smiled back, moving to wrap my arms around his neck and plant a kiss on his cheek. “I love you daddy.” I said softly, as he hugged me before letting me go. I was always going to be Daddy’s Princess to him; I was eight when he gave me that title, and I still blush to this very day just thinking about how he would gather me up in his arms and call me Princess when we were walking along the road. “Riley, Jakob, you two better get yourselves ready and get some breakfast into you. Your mother will be waiting downstairs.” With that he left the room. Glaring at my brother, I crossed my arms over my chest before protesting, “Well, hurry up and get out! I'm not changing with you in here!” X I charged down the stairs and skidded into the kitchen where my mom was putting another plate of breakfast on the table, and my brother was wolfing his down at the speed of light. Eyeing him with little appreciation, I sat at my seat in my black t shirt and dark wash jeans. I was still pulling on my navy blue vest when my obnoxious brother pulled on my sleeve. “Is that all you wear? Black, black, black?!” “Is that all you can do, is yap, yap, yap?” I snap back, and my brother pouted, returning to wolfing down his breakfast like it was the last meal we’d ever eat. I ate my pancakes quietly but quickly, and flushed them down with some milk, before grabbing my small black and white checkered duffle bag and sleeping bag, and walking to the door. “Riley! Where do you think your going?” It was my mother. I turned to face her, and instantly remembered that I had to wait for my brother—and I had to give her a hug before I left. My mother and I never really saw eye to eye on a lot of things; me leaving on a Pokemon Journey being one of them. That was why I had to wait three years for my brother to turn ten—so I had someone to go with on my Journey. “Oh, bye mom.” I said, gingerly wrapping my arms around her in an embrace. She returned it, before returning her attention to my brother, who was struggling with his stuffed backpack and horribly rolled sleeping bag. “Oh darling, would you like me to re-wrap that for you? Oh, here let me take this…” Oh good lord.
