Polishing your shiny boulderbadge, still ecstatic from your victory against Brock, you gaze up towards the looming peak of Mt. Moon. Some might be nervous about stepping into the cave, but nothing can stop you from getting to Cerulean and the next badge. Nothing! Taking your first step into the mountain, you're stunned as you find the darkness almost presses in on you. Feeling undaunted but cautious you step into the cave completely. Realising you need some light, you call on your favorite Pokemon, Charmander. Using its brightly burning tail as a guide, you begin to make your way through the pitch black cave. All is well as your trek continues, occasionally you see a Zubat flutter away, always too quick for your Charmander to get a decent hit on. You were hoping to capture at least one of every Pokemon, but it's just a Zubat, not terribly important. Just as you decide to leave them alone, you notice a sleeping Zubat hanging in front of you. Quickly you gesture to Charmander to devastate the Zubat, in response Charmander letting out a burst of flames from its mouth. Zubat screeches in pain as the fire grazes its wings. Taking flight, it lets out a supersonic squeal. Within seconds the Zubat called for by the one you're battling swarm you. No matter where you look you see nothing but the rough blue fur of the bats. Calling for Charmander to burn some of them away you get no response. Batting some of the flying rats away, you notice a pile of them attacking something nearby. A something with a bright red tail flame, which slowly dims before your eyes. As the flame finally flickers for the last time, you're plunged into darkness, feeling large fangs sink into your arm, you yell in pain and begin stumbling blindly around, groping for anything useable as a weapon. You find nothing, and yet again the fangs sink in, this time your neck is the target. Feeling your own warm blood seeping down your front, dizziness strikes you like a brick. Tumbling down, you feel the Zubat swarming over you, relentlessly biting any bare patch of skin they find. You never reach Cerulean.
