Cassidy had agreed to the plan and Butch had called Giovanni to ask for permission to follow it.  They all sat and waited now for a reply.  Jessie had fallen asleep in James' lap, her head laying on his shoulder.  He was gently stroking her hair, humming to himself.  Butch kept silent most of the morning, only watching Jessie and James closely.
"That can't be the same Jessie that I've known all of these years…" he suddenly said.
"Well…it is," James replied.  He kissed her forehead, causing her to sigh in her sleep.
"She's so…different," Butch went on. "So…so…*loving*." He watched Jessie smile happily and cuddle closer to James. "I think I like her better this way," he added.
Cassidy, who was busy filing her nails in the corner, snorted in disgust. "I *bet* you do," she huffed.
Butch didn't even bother to look at her. "Aren't you done pouting yet, Cass?"
She sneered at him. "Shut your mouth, you big *brute*," she snapped.
He spun on her now. "Drop it, Cass!" he cried. "This is getting ridiculous!"
She threw her nail file down now and leaned forward to yell at him. "No, it's *reality*, Butch!" she said. "Deal with it!"
"No! You deal with it! You're pregnant! Can't you realize and respect that?"
Jessie's eyes fluttered open now and she groaned. "Are they fighting *again*?"
James sighed and nodded, causing her to groan again and bury her face in his hair. "Can't I get some *sleep*?"
Cassidy turned angrily in their direction. "Shut up, Jessie!" she demanded.
Jessie merely shrugged and wrapped her arms around James' waist. "has the Boss replied yet?"
"No," James told her. "but he will…and it *will* work."
"I hope so." She gently kissed his lips and smiled at him.
Cassidy gagged and leaned against the wall again, holding a cigarette in her fingers.  When she went to light it, Butch noticed. He jerked it from her hands and snapped it in two.
"What the *hell* are you doing?!" he yelled.  She sneered at him, and he only grabbed her wrists, angrily pinning her to the wall. "Listen good, Cass," he growled. "You had *better* realize right-now the situation that we're in!  I will NOT stand by and watch you destroy our baby like that because you're too busy wallowing in self-pity!"
She wriggled in his grasp and he tightened it. "Accept it, Cass!" he continued. "We're going to be parents!"
Tears ran down her cheeks now and she jerked loose to embrace him. "Oh, Butch!" she sobbed. "I'm so sorry…"
Surprised by her sudden burst of emotion, he only embraced her back.
"I…I don't know *how* to act," Cassidy added. "This is all so frightening…"
He sighed. "It's okay, Cass," he said softly. "We'll get trough this…together."
She sniffled. "I'd like that."
Jessie and James exchanged a look of relief as the other couple continued embracing, pleased that things may soon be changing for the better.

James hated the new, black uniform, but he had to wear it to match his new partner.  He saw that Butch was standing outside, saying good-bye to Cassidy. He smiled when he saw the two embrace and share a loving kiss.  Then Butch turned away-slowly- and Cassidy walked back to the cabin-slowly. She cast him a wry glance as she passed him in the doorway and sat in her favorite chair.
Jessie approached him now, he sad eyes gazing into his. She draped her arms around his shoulders, laying her face on his chest. "I'll miss you," she whispered.
He kissed her forehead. "I'll miss you, too."
She rested his hand across her growing belly, both of them imagining the life within her that had forever joined their two souls. He was moved, and he kissed it.  "Take care of this kid," he said.
"Be careful," she ordered.
"be careful, yourself," he replied. "I don't want to come home and find out that you and Cass killed each other."
The blond laughed disdainfully behind them, and Jessie rolled her eyes. "we'll be fine," she told James.
He took her chin and gently pulled her face up to meet his.  He kissed her lips, then her eyelids. "I love you."
"Love you more." She kissed him passionately, and Cassidy gagged again.
"Ex*cuse* me!" she cried. "I'm sitting here!"
They parted, not bothering to give Cassidy a response, and he squeezed her hand tightly. He then turned and headed out the door to join Butch, his beloved wife gazing sadly at him as he did.
She felt hair brush her leg and glanced down in time to see Meowth casually strolling past her.  She reached down and lifted him by the scruff of his neck. "And where do you think *you're* going?" she asked.
"Wit da guys!" Meowth replied with a snarl.
"Oh-no-you're-NOT!" she corrected. "You've been appointed to stay her…with US."
He irked. "HERE?"
"Yep," Cassidy put in. "With the *pregnant* chicks!"
The Pokemon groaned as Jessie set him on his feet again.  "Dis is gonna be hell," he muttered to himself, watching the men walkout of sight.


Jessie planted her hands on her hips and glared at her roommate. "We *have* to do it!" she said desperately. "It's NOT a big deal."
"No-WAY!" Cassidy exclaimed. "I'm NOT going shopping for maternity clothes! I'll feel so…FAT!"
Jessie rolled her eyes. "You *are* fat, Cass," she informed.
The blond closed her eyes and covered her ears, shaking her head violently. "Don't TELL me that!"
Shaking her own head in disgust, Jessie grabbed Cassidy's hands and pulled her to her feet. "Cass," she said. "Listen."
Cassidy stopped squirming long enough to glance at Jessie.
"We're BOTH going through this," Jessie said. "And believe me…I feel just as bed as you do….After all…I AM a lot fatter that you."
Cassidy smiled menacingly to herself. "You sure are," she mumbled. She looked at the floor a moment before an idea popped into her head. She smiled at Jessie now. "Hey! I've got a cute idea!"
Jessie didn't look to sure. "…. what?" She watched the blond cross the room with a grin and grab a measuring tape.
"Let's see who really IS bigger!"
Jessie cringed. "I dunno…"
"Oh, come on!" Cassidy pestered. "It'll be fun."
Jessie nodded in agreement with a sigh and watched her companion began to wrap the tape around her own waist line.
"Thirty-two inches," she informed.
"Geeze, Cass," Jessie teased. "That's BIG."
"Shut up. Let's see yours, fatty." She wrapped the tape around Jessie and gasped.
"What?" the redhead asked. "What is it?"
Cassidy shook her head in disbelief. "Forty-eight inches," she said softly. "Jess…you're TWICE as big as before!"
"So?" Jessie laughed. "Isn't that normal?"
"So SOON?"
Jessie shrugged, but Cassidy was now on a mission to find the answer.  She planted her ear firmly on Jessie's belly, causing her to giggle.
"What are you doing!?"
"Shhh!" Cassidy ordered. "I think I hear…"
"What?"
The blond looked up at her. "Two heartbeats." She took her hand. "Jess…I think that you MAY be having twins."
"Twins!?" She smiled happily. "Oh, Cass! James will be so happy!"
"It's great, Jess!" In her joy, she hugged the other woman. "And the boys will be home soon to find out the news!"
"Why don't we go buy a few things to surprise them with?" Jessie asked.
Cassidy shrugged. "I guess that'll be okay."
"Super!" Jessie exclaimed. "Let's go!"

This is boring!" Cassidy whined as she rolled her Raticate's Pokeball back and forth on her growing belly.
Jessie sighed from her spot at the window. "Hush," she gently ordered. "They'll be here soon."
"And…?"
"And…don't you miss Butch at all?  He's been gone for quite a while." Before Cassidy could respond, she caught sight of James trudging up the path and she squealed happily. "James!" she cried, thrusting open the front door and extending her arms to him.
He ran to her and took her in his arms, laughing happily.  When he did, he felt her large belly press into him, and he pulled her back to get a better look at her. "Jessica!" he cried. "No offense…you're ENORMOUS!"
She only smiled. "We're having TWINS, James!"
He blinked a few times in disbelief. "Twins?" When she nodded he held her close again. "That's wonderful, Jess!" He kissed her forehead.  "I think you might burst, though!"
Cassidy gazed hopefully up the path now, Butch nowhere to be found. "Umm…" she spoke up. "Where's Butch?"
"Oh," James replied. "He had to stop and get something on the way here."
Jessie raised a curious eyebrow at him, and just as she was about to ask, Butch walked through the door, winded and panting.
Cassidy jumped to her feet and paused as well. They stood a long while that way, neither really knowing what to say.
Finally, Butch spoke up. "Cass, you've gotten bigger."
She held her stomach. "Yep…"
They stared silently another moment before their emotion took over and they moved to one another. They embraced lovingly, and, without words, their mouths met passionately.  Their kiss expressed feelings that they'd never known they'd had…feelings that they had kept bottled up for so *long* ((kinda like Jess and James…eh? ^-^)).
Jessie sighed happily as she watched them kiss. "It's about time," she said to her husband.
Butch and Cassidy parted with a gasp now and starred deeply into one another's eyes.
"I missed you, Cass," he whispered. "And…I love you."
Her eyes lit up joyfully. "You…you do?"
He nodded. :I've had  a lot of time to think about it…and I've decided." He held her face gently in his hands. "Marry me?"
"Huh?"
He kneeled and pulled the "something he had to get on the way back" out of his pocket- a diamond ring. "Marry me, Cass," he repeated.
Speechless, she could only whimper and look to Jessie for help.  When the redhead nodded her on, she turned back to Butch. "I will."
"You WILL?"
"I will!"
He jumped to his feet and kissed her. "Oh, babe!" he cried. "You just made me so happy!"
Once again, they needed no words as they shared yet another kiss, the world and their problems all melting away with every second that they embraced……

::Sobs:: Wasn't that beautiful?  You *better* say "yes"…or you're not a real Shipper! ^_^ Kidding.  Lemme' know what ya thought, and be ready for Part 3.  It SOOOO GOOD! ^_^  
In the meantime…I'll be blasting off again…… ::Owwwch! That landing HURTS! ^-^::
